For my 3rd trip back to Cambodia, this time in 2018 I decided to get more remote with the eagerness to understand the local lifestyle. I took the deep dive in and went straight in. I lived in the jungle, spent days away from civilisation as the Western world would know it, got sick, and helped volunteering.
Then I made a video about it.

Originally created in 2015 to map out my Asian Travels, it started to change in direction as I would look back at my posts a few years later and decided I wanted to re-write everything.
I felt there was no real direction or content in my writing.

'm raising money and awareness for Enlighten the Shadows, a Mental Health Group based in Nottingham, UK. And an International Non-Profit Charity delivering Fresh Water around the globe called WaterAid.
I got up from the sofa the other day, went into my kitchen, and snarled angrily at the so called ‘empty’ cupboards in my apartment.
I had biscuits, fish fingers, pasta, tuna, noodles, bacon, water, milk, cereal, eggs, squash, aloe vera juice, and more. So much more. But yet the cupboards are apparently ‘empty’.
So after a lap or three, huffing and puffing around the kitchen I slumped back on the sofa and literally went hungry for another few hours because all and everything of what i actually had, didn’t satisfy me.
After a while I sat and started to question; “Do I really realise how lucky I am?”
We take so many things we don’t even think of for granted in life. I’m talking about everything. We take everything in life for granted. Even if we don’t intend too.
We take so much for granted in this world when there are others who don’t even have regular access to drinking water.
– Being a qualified Plumber this saddens me enormously.
The next day I saw on Facebook a few things that made me think:– One being the Facebook Sponsored Advertisement from WaterAid which gave me the idea for this fundraiser.
– Two being some people I met in Cambodia who are posting that they are having trouble accessing clean water easily due to the flooding currently happening there that started in October 2020.
– And finally, nothing to do with water. But tied in with me taking things for granted when others are having it so tough. Seeing all the pain and anguish that so many of my loved ones are experiencing in England and Europe at present due to the Coronavirus. I am so lucky here in Australia. I know I am. I have teamed up with an amazing Mental Health Group from Nottingham who are doing wonders literally saving lives, supporting those who are finding it tough. Enlighten the Shadows.
