Tempers flare as the IndyCar season visits Detroit for the second race back on the streets of Downtown. While last year was a pleasant surprise, this year was anything but. Tempers flared even in practice sessions. Who but a seasoned veteran could carve out such a masterful win and lead a Honda sweep of the first four positions in Chevrolet’s backyard.

Timmy’s long awaited return to discuss the 108th Indy 500. This episode will feature discussion on Rookies. Who won ROY and who deserved to win? No less than 8 past winners suited up to try and win another Borg Warner and one prevailed. And in doing so, takes home a record payout from a record purse and kicks off conversations of his place in IndyCar history. Before we discuss the top teams and their finishes we must talk engines and the unprecedented engine “situations” this month of May. Live on YouTube Dan presents a solo show to discuss the Sonsio Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Road Course. Up for discussion is Will Power’s run of second place finishes. Palou’s win and continued dominance and Arrow McLaren turning things around in time for the month of May. All this and more including Indy 500 Expectations that Dan won’t call a prediction. Listen now!
Join Dan and Bryan as they discuss the news that has overshadowed an amazing weekend of action at Barber Motorsports Park. Starting with Penske scandal, cheat or outside the rules situation. Then on to the dismissal of David Malukas from the Arrow McLaren #6. Then on to Barber Race recap where Scott McLaughlin needed a strong weekend to kickstart his season after his DSQ at St Pete and his unfortunate weekend at Long Beach. Penske redemption tour didn’t start there as Will Power put in a stellar performance but fell just a couple ticks short of his teammate. The Penske driver at the center of the scandal had a weekend to forget. RLL continues there climb but only for 2/3 of that team. Arrow McLaren has yet to figure out how to take advantage of their massive trackside support center.
All this and more including Bryan’s Beef of the Week.

Be sure to stay tuned to hear our thoughts on Romain Grosjean and Felix Rosenqvist’s ascension to team leader status and how that is leading to a couple of firsts for their respective teams. Hamilton off to Ferrari in 2025 - Why announce this now? How will this play into Hamilton’s season? And what of Christian Horner. Nobody outside Red Bull knows what’s truly happening but whatever it is it’s a mess. Dan and Tim breakdown the 2023 IndyCar driver championship and compare to their preseason picks. For much of the season their top 3 picks looked pretty good. Then well - Newgarden. Palou dominates with seemingly no weakness then when the IndyCar faithful started to question whether Scott Dixon would continue his season win streak he takes 3 wins including on the oval at Gateway. Beyond that your hosts predictions take very separate paths. Including discussion on what might have been an anonymous season by Alexander Rossi and one shocking top 10 finish for a driver on a team that was entirely lost in early June.

An exciting Portland Grand Prix as the IndyCar series winds down for 2023. Already they’ve crowned a champion and a runner up both driving for the stocked Chip Ganassi Racing Team.
How did the strategy go so wrong for Rahal and Team Penske who both put in solid qualifying efforts. Arrow McLaren is aggressively pursuing that elusive win on the season.
What of the non call for penalty on the series champion elect? Why did IndyCar wait so long to throw the red flag.
Listen now for all this and a whole lot more including A level contributions by the co-host (as promised on the social media site formerly known as Twitter).
Hold on… new producer this show as we breakdown the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Dan and Tim discuss qualifying, the race and complete the grid walk. Dixon uses strategy to claim his second straight victory. Newgarden seems to throw the race away after realizing their strategy isn’t going to usher in a victory. O’Ward battles all day to finish 2nd for the 4th time this season. Silly season update during the grid walk.

Qualifying for the 107th Indianapolis 500 proved to be a BIG DEAL! As expected Chip Ganassi had the largest target on their backs. Arrow McLaren took four shots and some might say successfully hampered their dominance but alas nobody could stop Palou from taking pole. Palou’s winning pole time was by a mere 0.006 MPH over none other than Rinus Veekay. Wait, what? You heard that right. ECR got in the game but not to be overshadowed in the surprise category by none other than AJ Foyt racing who not only put 2 cars in the top 12 but made a run for pole with Santino Ferrucci.
Dan and Tim welcome two terrific contributors to today’s show who provide amazing insights and history to the discussion. Please welcome Bryan AKA @500Indy1911 and our web master and guru Spencer Neff of Indycar1909.com.

Tim and Dan spend little time discussing Tim’s midlife crises because what will assuredly be an exciting Long Beach race is on deck. Both hosts expect Andretti Autosport and Arrow McLaren to continue the strength shown on the streets of St Pete. But will they stand atop the podium? Dan thinks it will be an Andretti sweep with Herta on pole and Grosjean taking victory. Tim, on the other hand believes Palou wins while Pato takes pole.

Tim and Dan welcome Gakker to the show to talk about his experience NASCAR fan experience at COTA. Crowd size was immediately evident as the prime difference. Also, no merch tent? What’s that about NASCAR? And while we have him, we talk F1 and how dominant teams and drivers have dominated F1 history. According to Gakker, it’s not ridiculous that Red Bull can win every race this season. But he isn’t ruling out wins by Aston Martin, Ferrari and maybe even Mercedes.
Then Tim joins from his fun in the sun vacation in Central time zone to talk Texas Motor Speedway. We discuss the slow decline of this once great oval race. One where AJ Foyt smacked a victorious Arie Luyendyk on the way to victory lane. Also, why haven’t any of the Fortune 100 companies in and around Dallas stepped up. Further we give our picks for Pole, Win and Honorable mention. Finally, we play a game of Big Deal! or Big Deal...
A wild and crazy start to the season with non other than Marcus Ericsson winning yet another red flagged and chaotic race. Not what was expected given the dominance of Andretti Autosport throughout the lead up to the race. A surprising finish for both Juncos Hollinger and Rahal Letterman Lanigan racing. Change of pace with NASCAR leading the show as the season kicks into gear with the Daytona 500. Dan and Tim give a measured prediction on how Conor Daly will finish as well as their predictions for the winners. Dan is surprised that Keselowski isn’t a Daytona Champ - Tim less so. Kevin Harvick’s final season in 2023. Is he a “first ballot hall of famer”?
On to IndyCar where we discuss testing results from Sebring where Andretti Autosport seems to have found something for 2023. Tim says, told ya so. Dan says it’s practice - even tho it’s testing.
A lot of time discussing Tony Kanaan’s career versus RHR who is the odds on favor to add anywhere there is an opening. And why Kathrine Legge might be the choice for the 4th car at RLL at the 500.
And Dan wonders why RHR hasn't returned his emails....

Who could that be? Next, let's talk F1 liveries, the blue oval and lastly the cLAsh happened over the weekend. Tim has to give you his perspective because Dan… has no interest. Dan and Tim discuss their upcoming trip to the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Dan breaks down the new Gran Touring Prototype (GTP) cars and engine difference prepared by Acura, Cadillac, Porsche and BMW. Did someone say V8! And Acura’s 2.4L sounds very familiar to IndyCar fans. What about the hybrid component? It’s again very familiar. Then we get into some IndyCar news Foyt, Ganassi, Juncos and let's not forget the 2024 Indy 500 entry.

Tim and Dan discuss the series second trip to IMS Road Course. Perhaps not surprising that Patient Power takes the championship standings ahead of Ericsson who along with Ganassi teammates seemed to struggle this round. Rahal continues their slow climb in turning around their qualifying efforts which are in turn helping their finishes. Dan is adamant that Power is the lead championship contender. Tim still puts all his chips on Newgarden. Who do you think it is with only four races left and Nashville up next? Tell us
Join Tim and Dan as they review the Iowa IndyCar Double Header sponsored by HyVee. Rather than the full team by team results your hosts spend more time talking about the results of the Power Five Teams - Penske, Chip Ganassi Racing, Arrow McLaren and Andretti Autosport. That’s four - Yes, it is! You’ll have to listen to hear the hosts pick for fifth. Perhaps unexpected. Be sure to engage with us on social media to tell us if you agree or who you’d pick instead. Also tell us who you think will eventually win this championship. Dan says its Will Power’s to win in spite of Josef Newgarden’s 4 wins. Tim is confident in Josef’s ability to pull it off before Laguna Seca.

Also in this episode, is there something at Ganassi amiss? A lot of public bickering after such a successful run at the Speedway just a few weeks ago. Andretti is back to form using 3 year old notes. Join Tim and Dan as they review the 106th running of the Indy 500. On site for this event bringing some local insights to how it all went down. Congrats to Marcus Ericsson and the Huski Chocolate Chip Ganassi race team on an amazing victory. Nothing taken away from Marcus who was fast and smart but it was a Ganassi race to lose. What happened to the Penskes? Rossi was the standard bearer for Andretti. Turn two was less than kind to Rinus Veekay who was an early favorite; Calum Ilott who might have some healing to do on his right hand; Romain Grosjean who was caught by the windy conditions as was Jimmie Johnson your Indy 500 Rookie of the Year. Wait! Jimmie was ROY this year? How does that work? Tim explains. Dan’s not buying it. Have a listen!
Tim and Dan discuss an action packed weekend of motorsport. Starting with F1 and the very entertaining and perhaps unexpected happenings at the Spanish Grand Prix. Then our hosts discuss qualifying for the 106th running of the Indy 500. Could this be Scott Dixon’s year to finally add another baby Borg to his already abundant trophy case? What happened to Andretti Autosport and Team Penske? Can Takuma take a third? What about Helio Castroneves and his quest for an unprecedented 5th win at Indianapolis? Can Helio take victory and shake off his less than ideal qualifying position. All this and more - Press play now!
Join Tim and Dan as they review the GMR Grand Prix at IMS Road Course. With Dan on site and so much on track action there is a lot to talk about. Kudos to Honda and Colton Herta on this victory. What if anything does this mean going into the 500? Will Honda pull out an ace and take it to Chevy on the big track? Spectacular effort by Juncos and Calum Ilott who continues to outperform this team’s perceived station. RLL finally has a good effort in qualifying - the only piece this team needs to contend week in and week out. Patient Power looks to maintain a hold on this championship going into the 500 and the double points haul available. Can he do it?

Tim and Dan discuss the results of the IndyCar Grand Prix of Alabama. Terrific result for Arrow McLaren and Pato O’Ward who was in the news early this season for reasons other than results. Ganassi Racing and Alex Palou continue to lurk in the background and now they lead the Season Championship. Not without controversy unfortunately. Was it good hard racing between Romain Grosjean and Graham Rahal. Your humble hosts this so. Though one of your hosts this is a bigger problem for only one of the drivers involved in this incident. Join Tim and Dan in what we will call the preview of IndyCar Grand Prix of Alabama preview but we have a lot of news and notes on NASCAR and F1.
NASCAR - going back two weeks to talk about Bristol’s dirt race and the need for such an event on a major holiday. A lot of news on F1’s visit to Imola including who has the better package. Is it Ferrari or Red Bull? And how about K-Mag in the Haas? The best start for a Haas since joining F1. Finally wrapping up with our news and notes on Barber including the story lines we're following. But not before we talk extensively about Pato staying with Arrow McLaren; Rossi potentially jumping to Arrow McLaren and whether or not drivers can impart setup and engineering expertise at another team.
Tim and Dan break down the action at the Acura IndyCar Grand Prix of Long Beach. Penske continues their run with 3 of 3 wins on the season. A strong start to the season no doubt aided by a resurgent Chevy engine. Andretti needed a strong showing in Long Beach to reset the season. If Andretti needed a reset than that goes double for Alexander Rossi who has had success at Long Beach. Was it to be? What about Rahal Letterman Lanigan? And what of Jack Harvey getting his handle on this team and setups? All of this plus F1 and IMSA.

It’s time to preview Long Beach. But before that Dan and Tim cover some news and notes for F1 and NASCAR. F1 continues to impress with the new regulations. Drivers have figured out a useful solution to DRS and how to manipulate the detection zones. Is this a problem? Nope. And who said manipulate? Mercedes will get it together but will Haas have enough resources to develop this season? NASCAR is going to LeMans? Yes! But can they do it right? Chad Knaus leading the effort with Hendricks and Chevy is putting the best foot forward for sure. Who are Dan and Tim’s picks for Long Beach? Andretti and Rahal get it together? Our hosts are cautious. Not at all cautious about Penske continuing the strong start to this season.

This year's final race to decide the 2021 F1 World Championship didn't disappoint. And of course it had a healthy dose of controversy but not for the reasons you may have expected. First we take a step back to discuss Saudi Arabia Grand Prix then on to Abu Dhabi.
Tim dislikes the red flag rule in Formula 1 - so do most others. Did Lewis gain an advantage by straight lining turn 6 when Max attempted a pass? Not sure it matters given the dominance of the Mercedes. Was Perez playing a good teammate or dirty? Should the race have been red flagged or was the use of the safety car the right call?
Today's new word: Risky
And tributes to Kimi and Al Unser Sr.
