A monthly interview series which gives people a platform to share their researched insights into important social topics and to allow them to trickle down to a wider audience. This month I'm joined by Katie who is researching the experiences of people who use self-editing apps to alter their appearances. Katie's research has previously featured in a Grazia magazine article about the #filterdrop campaign. In this episode we explore how these technologies are used and whether they cause creative or dysmorphic behaviours. We cover beauty ideals, botox, fillers - weaving our own experiences into discussion.
This content may be triggering for some viewers. I invite you to check in with how you are feeling before clicking play.
Despite this being an often heavy topic area, this is an enlightening chat which hopefully transmutes some of the shame and stigma surrounding digital and physical body modification.

This month's guest on THE TRICKL. is Dr. Jade Elizabeth. Jade's expertise are in psychology where she has produced research in the area of metacognition (thinking about thinking) and decision making. Jade has since worked in education as mental health support and has launched The Jadeite Project: guided walks designed to teach you to celebrate your body and mind through nature.
We talk about the the predictable nature of our brains and how they like to take shortcuts, before proceeding into a lovely chat about the healing properties of nature.

MIC CHECK 1, 2 - A few problemos with my mic but that's what pilot episodes are for!
A warm and awkward welcome to THE TRICKL. My first guest is Bolton's finest ginger, Sheldon Chadwick. Sheldon is a researcher, yoga practitioner, man with a van, advert actor and the founder of the newly registered Showmen's Mental Health Awareness charity. Sheldon's work with the charity is awe-inspiring to say the least and he shares his journey with this in the episode. We talk about marginalisation in the showman community, the alienating aspects of social media and how we switch off from it all.
