The psuedo - documentary film depicting the life of rock god Nick Cave hits the cinematheque once again, after a huge success in film festivals around the country. Film critic Yair Raveh talks to TLV1’s Nitzan Pincu about the myth of Nick Cave, the blurred line between truth and fiction, and the significance of seeing the human side of your idols.

Getting Retro at the Pasaz
The Pasaz was, without a doubt, the place to be in Tel Aviv in 2014. The spacious and smoky den has everything from Turkish delights and international parties to underground punk shows. And Pasaz is taking it up a notch in 2015, beginning with their “Old Fashion Style” New Year’s Eve party. Pasaz’s Lyr Benedikt tells us all about it.
One size doesn’t fit all
One of the best things to happen in Tel Aviv this past year was the rise of fashion events. Themed sales have finally become a thing, with sale events dedicated to shoes, accessories, punk clothes and many others. But those events are not really for everyone, since the sizes are mostly quite small. Gala Rachmilevitch is here to change all that with the plus-size fashion weekend.

Burn Baby Burn: Building monumental art installations for Burning Man
The Burning Man festival is an insane worldwide phenomenon. Beginning in San Francisco in 1986, the annual event has been about extreme self reliance and self expression and features monumental psychedelic art installations. While many may only dream of attending the festival in the Nevada desert, the art collective Fugara are making the dream come true and are building huge scale art installations that combine light, sound and fire and aim to reflect the human experience. Shlomi Mir, Designer and Developer, co-founder of the Fugara collective, talks about his crazy experiences at the Burning Man festival and the artists' upcoming event at the Comfort 13 club.
Shopping for a Cause
Rape culture is all around us. Not a day goes by that we don’t hear about revenge porn, date rape, harassment and assault, and about celebrities, both local and international, who go unpunished after committing sexual crimes. The sexual assault crisis center in Tel Aviv works constantly to change all that, and we have a chance to help them continue their work by dropping some cash at their annual shopping event in Ganei Hataarucha, Tel Aviv. Myriam Shler, the director of the sexual assault center, tells us all about it.

DIY Sessions: Zohara Live in the Studio
There is nothing quite like the combination of a haunting voice, thought provoking lyrics, and a great sense of musical adventure. Zohara Niddam masterfully uses the computer as a piano to create her beautiful songs, soon to be released in her debut album. Moments before she becomes huge in the indie scene, she chats with TLV1’s Nitzan Pincu about aspiring to perfection and recording in a home studio, and performs two songs live in the studio.
Gorgeous and gritty beats, not words
Drummer Aviv Cohen aka Sol Monk combines jazz, electronica, soul and hip hop with some killer beats. His album Beats Not Words, which was produced by Rejoicer on the label Raw Tapes, came out a few months ago to rave reviews. Now it's out on vinyl. TLV1 Producer/Correspondent Shoshi Shmuluvitz caught up with Sol Monk and got the story behind the beats.
Spiderman hits the Lowest Point in Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv’s central station is a place for people with nothing to lose. Immigrants, refugees, homeless people and prostitutes often fill the streets with sadness. So it’s refreshing and quite amazing when Dror Liberman, a performance artist, makes his street performances and tours there, where he dresses up as Spiderman and climbs the light posts around Neve Shaanan. In an interview with TLV1 he tells us about his attraction to the margins of society and about the creation of his confessional tour around those darker parts of the city.

Hebrew (not) forsaken
Why do most Israeli indie music artists forsake Hebrew in favor of English? By now, the choice to sing in English rather than Hebrew has become a sort of a default. Now that the artists who still express themselves in Hebrew are a minority, producer Itamar Bernstein has decided to promote them in the line “Between 14 and 16.”
The show must go home
With the desire to create a community of Israeli music lovers in France, Bar Ben Yaacov, a Jewish Agency emissary in Paris, established the "Show Must Go Home" project, in which young Israeli artists give intimate living room performances in Parisian homes.

If you put your finger on a globe, no matter where you hit, Peleg Cohen, also known as the Lonely Peleg, has been there. ARCHIVING THE UNDERGROUND
One of the most important things in DIY scenes is documentation: It’s sometimes the only way to get to know legendary bands, venues and labels. TLV1’s Liya Spiegel speak to Roi Assayag, aka Rocky B, a musician and one of the authorities on the forgotten history of the JLM alternative scene.
RADIO FREE JERUSALEM
Jerusalem has quite a lot of online radio stations: City Center Radio, Ra’ash Hour, the online radio at the Front Festival, and the wonderful independent music station Voice of Free Jerusalem. Avi Goldberger, founder and owner of the Voice of Free Jerusalem, tells TLV1’s Nitzan Pincu what made him open an independent station inside a bar, about the unique shows they have and his project of archiving the Israeli labels of the 90s.
MUJAHIDEEN SINGER ALON OVNAT'S ALTERNATIVE ART
Alon Ovnat is the lead singer of Mujahideen, a supergroup hailing from Jerusalem, and the former lead singer of Diewelt, a band that has left a remarkable imprint on Jerusalem’s alternative music scene. He joins us to talk about his surprising influences, and to speak about Beit 12, his former multipurpose art studio, in the heart of an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Jerusalem.
UNDERGROUND CULTURE IN THE HOLY CITY: A HISTORY
While Tel Aviv’s underground scene has remained very active throughout the years, the Jerusalem scene is quite a different story. Dudu Hamenachem, musician, DJ and one of the prominent figures in the Jerusalem alternative landscape, explains what changed.
MAFATAL
Ronit Rosenthal and Ilana Tzabari belonged to two of the most legendary underground bands of the 80s: Israel and Ma’atz. The two recorded an album together in the early 90s, under the name Mafatal, and recently reunited for a concert in the underground festival dedicated to the DIY music of Jerusalem, “The Front.”
