We should GUARD THE GOSPEL with our lives! This is the message of this text and in this message Pastor Joel describes the 5 ways that we, as a body of believers, Jesus's Church, should PROTECT the Gospel we were given by faith.
We should HONOR God through our work, REFLECT God's character, use our WEALTH for ETERNAL PURPOSES, PURSUE GODLINESS not GREED, and PROTECT the Gospel with our lives.
Living for Christ is not a casual walk in the park, it is a battle that we fight from Christ's victory by faith.
Listen in and re-engage in the GOOD NEWS and recommit to live for the purpose for which Christ died: to save us so we could live our lives sharing His GOOD NEWS and MAKING DISCIPLES for HIS Kingdom!

What THREE WORDS would you use to describe how the Church should live its life surrendered to Jesus Christ?
In our sermon from 1 Timothy 5, the Apostle Paul describes how the Church should live: honoring one another, caring for one another, and living our lives in integrity as we follow Jesus Christ.
This is easy to say and very hard to do. We must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit as we apply God's Word to the very practical areas of our day to day lives.
Is your heart surrendering to Jesus Christ? As you respond to this message, ask God to give you the faith and grace to continually surrender so that we can be His Church who honors, cares, and lives a life of integrity for His Kingdom.

We need to stay connected with Jesus Christ our Lord through the TRUTH of SCRIPTURE as we live our lives together for Jesus Christ on our way home.

What are the roles that are essential for the church of Jesus Christ to have in order to be healthy, led well, and functioning the way God intended?
Pastor Joel will break down the character qualities that God requires of His called ones that lead and serve His Church.
When the Church is structured the way the God intended and His servant leaders are humbling obeying all that He has commanded, the Church can be all that God intended: the pillar and buttress of truth!
Let's listen to God's plan through His people and strive to be the kind of person that reflects the character of Christ in the way we live and serve His Church.

Does God have good designs for order and structure in the family and in His church and as we gather to worship together today?
Yes, He does!
Does our culture also have plans that misunderstand God's good structure and put forward a plan that doesn't agree with God's plan for leadership in the home and in the church?
Yes it does. So what will we do? Is the Bible reliable or will we choose another source of authority for how God has designed leadership in the home and in His church?
Far from being a message about women sitting down, God's challenge to men is to stand up in leading worship and prayer in your family and step into servant leadership as pastors and elders in the church.
Listen in to this message as Pastor Joel carefully describes God's good plans from the Scriptures so that we can thrive in harmony and unity as His body on His mission.

Can we really trust the Bible? Is it authoritative for our lives today? Can we live our lives based on its God-given truth? Or is the Bible just a good book with some good suggestions, written by some good guys?
In this sermon, Pastor Joel unpacks the heart of Paul's personal letter to Timothy, his son in the faith. Not only is this a challenge and encouragement to Timothy, but this is an incredible challenge and encouragement to us today.
Will we live our lives according to the Bible or according to our feelings or the ideas of our culture, which may seem right, but lead us far away from God's path of truth.
God's Grace gives us great direction for life through His Word. May you find God's truth today and respond in faith and obedience.

We have so many blessings in our lives. The greatest of these blessings come to us through FAITH in JESUS CHRIST.
So how can we live in response to all the blessings that God has given us? Jason and Ryan discuss the blessings God gives in Romans 5:1-11 and how the blessings of peace with God, reconciliation, being declared righteous by God through faith, and developing character through trials work out in our lives.
We may be in the middle of a trial or challenge in our lives right now, but God is at work and is fully aware of what we're facing. Regardless of our challenge we have PEACE with God; we have HOPE in GOD. How can we begin to take steps to more naturally and relationally share Jesus with people we know?
That's a great question to ask and Jason and Ryan talk about how this can happen in our lives by discussing John 1: 29-51 and see how Jesus became a natural and relational sharing opportunity for the first disciples.
It's refreshing to know that the Holy Spirit empowers us to share about Jesus in our every day life. He is the ONE who can use us to help plant a seed or water a seed so that someone begins to know Jesus through repentance and faith.
Let's ask God to help us grow in sharing our faith naturally and relationally out of the over flow of Jesus at work in our lives.

Jesus' model of evangelism is RELATIONAL. In other words, Jesus isn't COLD when reaching out to people in need to believe in the Messiah. Evangelism requires some degree of warmth and CONNECTION.
Jesus models this perfectly for us in John 4 with the woman at the well in Sychar, Samaria. Joel and Ryan will break John 4 down and discuss how this impacts US today as we reach people that God has called us to reach.
We MUST rely on the Holy Spirit as we share Jesus with people. God will be giving us opportunities to share about Jesus as we pray and work to develop connections and relationships with people who need Him.
Share this episode with a friend who knows Jesus or maybe someone who doesn't and then rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you in next steps in building a connection with them.

How in the world can the reality of Hell help us?
Because KNOWING the reality of Hell and sharing the Gospel of Jesus out of love for people without Christ can allow God's Spirit to bring many to trust in Christ and be saved from Hell.
Joel and Ryan discuss why THE WHY of Hell's reality should impact our lives today.
We will want to share the Good News about Jesus because we care for and love people too much to allow them to slip through life without hearing about how much God loved them by sending Jesus to die for their sins and rise again.
Ignoring the truth hell's reality won't help us or others. But allowing God's heart for the lost (just like we all once were) to impact us, will help motivate us to increase our spiritual conversations with people we know who may not know Jesus as their Savior...YET.

Romans 10:1-11 really do help us to rely on God to give us a heart for people who don't know Jesus yet and to intentionally pray for them.

We all mess up in many ways. We just don't like to admit our mess ups.
But could truly seeing our mess ups lead us to a better place that is totally for our GOOD?
In Romans 3:9-20 Paul lays out that all people everywhere and throughout time all have the same troubles: Our mouths that say terrible things, our eyes that look at the wrong things and lead us and our feet into making bad choices in bad places.
Joel and Ryan talk about how truly seeing how bad we all are is good if it leads us to Jesus and the Gospel.
We all must deal with our pride. Especially in not admitting our faults. But when we do admit we're messed up, and turn to Jesus, we may just find the HIS FOREVER FIX to our greatest problem.

It's hard to hear the truth sometimes. But the truth is always our friend.
As Paul writes in Romans 3: 1-8, God has given to us His very WORDS.
God's WORDS can get in our face, "God is TRUE and everyone is a liar!"
So how can we develop a HUMBLE POSTURE to receive God's truth and keep receiving God's truth so that we can live a life that's pleasing to Him?

So how can we fix that problem? It definitely starts with Jesus and believing the Gospel, but then WHAT?
Listen and watch and Lynnea and Ryan discuss how to allow Jesus to change us from the inside out, rather on trying to fix our outsides without the Holy Spirit's work and power.
Sometimes we place too much focus on our externals and place too much significance on superficial things like the Jews did in Romans 2:17-29. When we do this, we may discover that we're living as a hypocrite, which is easy for anyone with some discernment to notice.
God loves to save us and change us through faith in Christ. Let's keep growing closer to Jesus and use Romans 2 as a helpful reminder to avoid focusing on the surface and instead focusing on Jesus and walking with Him by faith.

What happens when we stop praising God and giving Him gratitude? Things start going wrong. Things move from bad to worse and we can even end up in a place where God says to us, "I'm going to let you go your own way."
One of the hardest things that we can experience in life is receiving the natural consequences of our bad decisions. God doesn't give up on us. But He gives us over to do what we want to do and then we reap the results. It's almost as if we're driving toward a cliff with our foot smashed into the gas peddle.
But is this what God truly wants for us? Watch and listen today as Joel and Ryan discuss the great and awesome God who saved us by the sacrifice of His One and Only Son to save us from the disaster that we can bring on ourselves.
We will discover that a Holy and Loving God has a righteous wrath against sin which He poured out on Jesus to save us from going our own sinful way.
God is able to clearly show us our problem so that we will be be looking for His Salvation and ready to receive it.

What does the Bible say about ME? Who does the Bible say I am?

The longer we walk by faith with Jesus, the more we know that life with Jesus is all about the BASICS.
Entering through the NARROW WAY and staying on the narrow way is best. The amazing thing is that this narrow way isn't RESTRICTIVE, but is like a funnel getting wider and wider as you move out.
Life with Jesus is all about greater FREEDOM. Life lived for self is greater bondage as sin makes us more of a slave to sin. Jesus gives us an abundant life that makes a free to live a life of LOVE and all the other fruit of the Holy Spirit.

How would you describe the way that you PRAISE GOD? And why does this matter?
We were able to take a refreshing break at a Worship Conference called Sing! 2022 in Nashville! WOW! We all rediscovered the transformative power of corporate PRAISE!
We all need to work. We all need to rest. And we all need to PRAISE! This conference helped us in so many ways as a staff with our spouses to be able to get away and spend time together.
One of the best parts of the conference was our time worshipping together. We sang A LOT!
With many different styles, instruments, parts, and pieces, but the FOCUS was worshipping GOD and His Salvation He gives to us in JESUS!

Join Anna, Garrick, and Ryan as they discuss Ecclesiastes chapter 2 and discover WHEN and HOW life DOES have meaning and when it doesn't.
We all look for MEANING in life. Meaning is usually found in our motivations for doing what we're doing or what we're allowing to become a priority in our LIFE. By allowing God to CORRECT the reason WHY we do what we do, we will find that life does have meaning.
Maybe we can rediscover what happens when we live for HIM and OTHERS, and not for our selfish pursuits.
Solomon said that life was meaningless. Work can be and so can Wisdom, according to the World's wisest man. But was he right? Isn't there hope and meaning to be found?
We are starting a NEW SERIES of discussions in the book of Ecclesiastes, dealing the topics that Solomon, the preacher, brings to our attention.
Jason and Ryan talk through Ecclesiastes chapter 1 and discover where meaning can be found and how we can prevent ourselves from becoming TOO CYNICAL.
Listen in to discover God's solution to what CAN BE a meaningless life at times. The answer may just SURPRISE YOU!
Jesus' teaching had REAL AUTHORITY. The crowd that heard the Sermon on the Mount was ASTONISHED at His teaching. It was different than the teaching of the religious leaders. Jesus' teaching could and should change your life. If you came to believe in Him.
While Joel and Ryan discuss some truths that keeps impacting them from Jesus' Sermon, we still will love to keep looking back to the Sermon, memorizing some of it, so that we can keep and applying its main points.
Many storms pound our lives, like the storm that hit the two homes in the end of the sermon. The key to staying strong and standing, according to Jesus, is by faith as someone in His Kingdom APPLYING HIS TRUTH to our lives.
So how well do you know the Sermon on the Mount? How well are you doing at APPLYING its truths with your brothers and sisters in the church? What steps could we take together to DO what is TRUE according to Jesus? Let's keep doing these things TOGETHER!
There are dangers to living the Christian life. And Jesus warns us about these very real dangers that we will all face in Matt. 7: 15-23.
Joel and Ryan talk about how to be aware of FALSE TEACHERS and FALSE TEACHING as well as avoiding the temptations that come from trying to live a life based on WORKS. It's easy to get caught up in BOASTING about WE have done, instead of focusing on simply and humbly DOING GOD'S WILL.
How can you learn to evaluate a teacher's teaching without becoming TOO SUSPICIOUS of everyone? How can we make sure that we're keeping on Jesus' path of DOING the WILL of the FATHER?
Listen in today to On Our Way Home. Share this podcast with a friend, talk it over, and work to apply Jesus' teaching from Matt. 7:15-23.
It's too easy to be focused on ME. And it's too easy to want to go the EASY way rather than the HARD way when it comes to living life.
Jesus calls us to HIS narrow way, which is a way of LIFE. And a life that is lived treating others the way that we would want them to treat us. In other words, Jesus calls His followers to live a life of LOVE like He did.
But we don't like narrow and we don't like hard. We like easy and broad. But what's easy isn't always best.
So how can we treat others well without making it about US, and how can we keep choosing the narrow path with Jesus?
Listen as Joel and Ryan talk through Matt. 7:12-14 to hear what will help us.
God is Good. Period. But sometimes we doubt His Goodness. And doubting can have a negative impact on our prayer relationship with God. Prayer shouldn't be our last resort but our FIRST RESPONSE.
So how can we KEEP ON PRAYING? How can being active in praising God, active in reading and applying and obeying Scripture help us to KEEP ON PRAYING?
Jason and Ryan talk through how Matthew 7: 7-11 can powerfully remind us that God is Good and gives us good gifts. And that prayer is essential to doing God's will, knowing God's will, and seeing God's Kingdom come.
If your prayer relationship isn't what you would like it to be, allow God's Word, PRAISE, and relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ, and maybe even the On Our Way Home to encourage you to keep taking steps with Jesus!
It's so easy to be judgmental. People can get on our nerves. People can frustrate us with their behavior, even brothers and sisters in Christ. So we judge them. We can do this all the time. But is this really the best way to live?
We can see other people's issues as HUGE and ours as SMALL when in reality Jesus says it's just the opposite. How close are we to people that we want to help by giving them a pearl of valuable judgment? And how easy is it for us to RECEIVE a truthful judgment about something we may be doing wrong?
Jesus challenges His followers to live differently than being a judgmental jerk as Joel and Ryan discuss today from Matthew 7:1-6.
What would happen in our families, work, and community if we really did live a Kingdom Life of judging to help our brothers and sisters in a way that reflects a person immersed in BEING the BEATITUDES?
Listen to Matt. 7:1-6 and ask God to help you to stop being so judgmental!
We value what we trust in. Which is why we can't help but worry when we're valuing anything more than God.
God loves us and cares for us more than we will ever realize. And God proved this once for all by sending His Son to show us what LOVE IS (1 John 3:16).
But how does knowing this help us in our everyday lives when we do find ourselves loving things more than God's Kingdom and loving ourselves and our stuff more than we love God and others.
LISTEN IN as Joel and Ryan discuss Matt. 6:19-34 and discover what must be our greatest priority according to Jesus and how this kills worry, selfishness, and many other sins through SEEKING what matters MOST and LASTS forever.
What are the purposes that drive us and guide us in our lives? How can we make sure that developing a CLOSER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD is one purpose we keep as the highest priority in our lives?
Have you thought about FASTING? In the podcast today, Jason and Ryan talk through how developing a deeper relationship with God can be developed through seeking God in prayer and fasting.
Many people don't know a lot about fasting or have developed fasting as a spiritual discipline. But this is one area that Scripture assumes that we will have in our spiritual toolbox. As a follower of Jesus we will want to develop this often forgotten or misunderstood TOOL to help us SEEK GOD in our lives.
God wants to use us to build relationships with people so that we can share His love through our actions, words, and especially with His Word.
But how could we partner with God to reach people in our daily lives?
Listen in to Greg's story as he and Ryan talk about how God called Greg to serve using his skills, abilities, and interests to reach people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
God may not be calling you to serve in Togo, Africa...OR HE MIGHT BE!
Regardless...God wants to USE US to connect with people so that we can share His LOVE for them in practical every day ways. Even through building a fishing canoe...
Begin to pray how God can use you right now...and follow His Spirit's leading to live on Jesus' Mission!
Prayer is essential for our life of faith. Prayer isn't so much a public performance or a mechanical practice...PRAYER IS A RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
But how can we avoid the dangers of performing or mechanically just saying a bunch of words or only praying at meals and at bedtime? How can we GROW in our RELATIONSHIP with God through prayer? And how can we make progress without feeling guilty all the time?
Joel and Ryan talk about prayer on today's podcast: what to DO, what NOT to DO, and HOW to pray the way that Jesus clearly taught all His Followers to pray...and keep praying.
Be encouraged that OUR FATHER wants to hear you pray MORE THAN you might even want to talk with Him. He is ready and excited to have you talk with Him and share your thoughts and heart! Take a step of growth in faith today and PRAY!
There is a deceptive danger hidden in doing good deeds: that we would be doing them for the APPROVAL of others rather than for God's ATTENTION.
Why is doing things for others such a trap and a danger? Discover why this is true and what Jesus has to say about HOW and WHY we should give to the poor in today's podcast with Joel and Ryan. Joel and Ryan will be discussing Matthew 6:1-4 in today's podcast.
God is more interested in what's going on in our heart than we may realize. And Jesus gives us a specific PRESCRIPTION on how to avoid doing things for others and ultimately miss out on the greatest reward we could have.
Listen all the way through and share this episode with a friend and talk about how God may want to help you in your motivation for giving.
God doesn't want us to live our lives doing the bare minimum in our relationships. God wants us to be like Him in our integrity and keeping our word.
But we struggle in relationships and in saying we will do something and then not follow through.
Jesus lays out God's heart for relationships with others in marriage, in dating, in work, and in life. Jesus' way looks like faithfulness in relationships, sacrificing for one another, and being people like HIM who ALWAYS has and will KEEP HIS WORD.
Need some encouragement to keep walking with Jesus in relationships and integrity?
There is HOPE with JESUS! Listen to find some encouragement as Joel and Ryan discuss Matt. 5: 31-37 from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount!
It's SO EASY to be angry. Every person in our world can struggle with sinful anger.
Living in our culture is a fight to remain pure in our thoughts and actions. We need to live intentionally by relying on God's Spirit so that we can put to death unbiblical anger and lust to death. But how can we put these sins to death consistently?
Joel and Ryan talk about Jesus' plan in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5: 31-37 on how fighting the temptation to sin works out in our every day lives.
Jesus wants us to live lives free from sin and realize our need to rely on Him by being what He says is blessed in the Beatitudes.
Struggling with sinful anger or lust? Get back to the Beatitudes and rely on God to fight the battle Jesus has already won!
What can you do when you realize that you're living under the heaviness of GUILT? Is there a way out? How can we stop pounding ourselves for failing to live up to God's standard? How can we live a life of obedience in gratitude to God?
The solution can be found in the podcast today as Don, Jason and Ryan discuss Matt. 5:17-20.
In the podcast you will discover how focusing on Jesus and continually pointing to His perfect life lived in obedience to the LAW can shift us from GUILT to living in GRATITUDE.
We don't have to pay God back. We could NEVER pay God back for the debt we owe Him. And the truth is, He doesn't require us to pay, because JESUS has paid our debt in FULL once for all!
Discover how Jesus brings us gratitude, joy, and a desire to obey the LAW from the inside out through faith in HIM!
We are all an influence on the World around us. But what kind of influence are we?
Jesus says we are SALT and LIGHT if we are in His Kingdom through faith in Him.
In our discussion today, Dwight, Jason, and Ryan work through challenges we face to being Salt and Light: Bitterness, Burn out, Lacking concern for others, and serving for others to NOTICE US rather than serving for God's Glory and other's good.
By going to Jesus' message, the Sermon on the Mount, and reminding ourselves that we're BLESSED BY BEING who we are in Christ and by being SALT and LIGHT we can influence people we know away from decay and show the way to Jesus.
There are many traps that can SNAG us in life. Living trapped by GUILT, by BLAMING others, or trying to PAY BACK our bad decisions and actions through PERFORMANCE.
Jesus gives us another way to live, and it's KINGDOM LIVING. Jason, Joel, and Ryan talk through the BEATITUDES and what it really means to be living like someone who is in God's Kingdom through faith in Jesus.
Kingdom living is upside-down and backwards to the ways this world works...but BLESSED by God! This is true of our relationships with God and with others as we live as people who are POOR IN SPIRIT, but are filled with faith and born again by the SPIRIT into the KINGDOM.
Share this episode with a friend. Share your thoughts. Find ways to put the Beatitudes and Kingdom Living into practice and allow God to work through you to reach others in need of His love and grace.
Of all the things we can do in our lives, FOCUSING ON JESUS is most important.
Jesus isn't about lots and lots of rules. He's the ONE who loves us MOST and wants what is BEST for us all day every day.
But sometimes we struggle with that. We can drift away from church. We can become bitter because of bad experiences with churches or other Christians. We think we know what's better. We can be stubborn.
One way we can help one another to stay connected with JESUS is to learn how to and be ready to share our stories of how Jesus intersected our lives. And actually, how He CONTINUES to give us GRACE and empower us through His SPIRIT to live our lives focused on Him.
Anna, Karalee, and Ryan discuss all of this on today's podcast. There's a lot of GRACE and FORGIVENESS with Jesus and with His people. We pray that you find JESUS today.
A real relationship with God isn't about the rules as much as it is about our every continuing and growing RELATIONSHIP with Him.
Sometimes we can place an unhealthy performance standard on ourselves or other people in our lives may try to do that to us as well. But God, the Father, loves us as His children who are trusting in Jesus, just as we are.
And there are always greater depths, greater heights, and more understanding of WHO GOD IS in our lives as we walk with Jesus and other followers. Joyce, Dwight, and Ryan discuss our performance, God's Heart for us, troubles, challenges, and keeping on Growing with JESUS in today's podcast.
Share this with a friend who could use some encouragement. God loves you right where you are today and His heart, mercy, and compassion are just a prayer away.
Just because someone looks good on the outside doesn't mean that they have a relationship with God or have God's NEW LIFE living in them.
Jesus told Nicodemus that, "You must be born again or he wouldn't see the Kingdom of God!" So what does it mean to have NEW LIFE given to you by God and what does that look like in real life in 2022?
Do I have to totally surrender everything to Jesus? Does it mean that I can manipulate God to do what I want Him to do for me in this physical world? What is the relationship between this physical world and God's eternal Kingdom? And why is faith essential to have eternal life?
Jason, Joel, and Ryan discuss these questions on the podcast today about Nicodemus and also talk about our next sermon series on KINGDOM LIFE, which will help us all as we walk together with Christ.
Is life transformation actually possible? Can people really change?
The answers to those questions are YES and YES.
As Jody, Dar, and Ryan discuss today, Zacchaeus' life was transformed by meeting Jesus.
It can be the same for each one of us.
Zach's story is filled with grace, no judgment, hope, joy, and Jesus.
How can we learn to help people who are hurting and searching for something or someone to fill the emptiness inside? The podcast gives some great counsel you won't want to miss.
Share this episode with a friend and keep on the journey with Jesus, with a local church, and with a few friends you can regularly connect with. Life with Jesus is meant to be lived with others, not in isolation. That's where life can really begin to change.
"Good Teacher, What must I DO to inherit Eternal Life?" Wow. What a question!
How can doing GOOD be a problem for us to truly inherit eternal life?
Trudie, Gary, and Ryan talk through the Mark 10 passage about the Rich Young Ruler in today's podcast. In the discussion we will discover Jesus' heart for all of us and how we can navigate through trying to EARN eternal life through WORKS versus RECEIVING eternal life through faith IN JESUS.
It's easy for THINGS to get in the way of having a relationship with God.
Sometimes things we own end up OWNING US.
And truthfully, none of us can live the life that's required to receive eternal life as a reward. So how can we inherit eternal life? It has everything to do with Jesus. Knowing Him by faith and walking WITH HIM through our life.
One of the greatest moments of life is when we MEET JESUS! Knowing Jesus absolutely changes EVERYTHING!
Anna, Garrick, and Ryan talk about one woman met Jesus and He not only changed her life, but the lives of almost EVERYONE in her village.
There is so much to learn in developing a greater love for people and sharing the Gospel, learning how to listen, dealing with sin without condemning people.
We need to keep growing to share the Gospel, love people, and allow our relationship with Jesus to keep changing our lives. Praying the podcast begins to help us all keep taking steps with Jesus!
It's easy to get into a rut. It's easy to get stuck living the same old same old.
SO...when was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone to serve?
And why is stepping out to serve God and show His love to others so good?
Listen to April, Jason, and Ryan talk about a recent trip to Honduras taken by a team of 11 people and hear how God worked in their lives through the trip.
You don't need to to go out of the country to serve God. How could God use you to show His love to people in your community, neighborhood, job or church?
As you listen to On Our Way Home today, start praying for God to help you to be willing to take a step toward serving. And then DO IT!
Does it really matter if a church is led by a team of leaders that are called by God, identified as men with godly character, serving as a team, with people they know well, and are leading by example?
YES! IT REALLY MATTERS! This is why God lays out His Leadership Plan for His church through Elders who lead His Church by PRAYING, teaching God's Word, shepherding, protecting, and overseeing GOD'S FLOCK (1 Tim. 3, Titus 1, Acts 20:28, 1 Pet. 5:1-4).
How do you know if you are called to be an Elder? What do Elders DO? What should Elders NOT DO? What should our response be to our church Elders?
Listen in as Maurie, Joel, and Ryan talk through the question, "What is an Elder?" on today's podcast and grow in your understanding of how God really wants His Church to be led under HIS LEADERSHIP.
It's good to take a RE-FRESHING LOOK at the DIRECTION we believe that God is leading us as His Body.
Without time spent refocusing on our Vision we can drift. We can become cold. We can realize that we need to be RE-IGNITED in our relationship WITH JESUS.
But how is God leading us to RE-IGNITE? Through PRAYER. Through Preaching (actively engaging in God's Word. And through MAKING TIME to engage with PEOPLE who also want to RE-IGNITE their passion for Jesus, too!
Joel and Ryan take a look at why engaging in a focused and intentional way in prayer, God's Word, and relationships with people can really help us make progress in God's MISSION to make disciples of ALL NATIONS.
The Great Commission starts in our neighborhoods and reaches to the nations. Listen in and ask for God to RE-IGNITE YOU as you follow Jesus with His Church!
How often are you connecting with the Church?
You know: Engaging in Worship Together? Actively participating in a Life Group with a few other people? And finding a place to SERVE together with others using your spiritual gift(s) to build up the body?
During this season of life, we may have slipped away from CONSISTENTLY CONNECTING with Christ's Church...with our BROTHERS AND SISTERS....with God's Family.
This is a dangerous development, which should bring us to perform PRIORITY CHECK to see how we're investing our time, talents, and treasures.
If the ETERNAL IMPORTANCE of MAKING DISCIPLES by living on mission for Jesus isn't the main part of our weekly life...what is? And should we trim our schedules to make sure that what God reveals as important in Scripture is also important in our lives as well?
Jason, Joel, and Ryan talk through these points and several more on today's podcast. Praying for God to use this podcast to help us all reevaluate our schedules so that Jesus and His church get a priority place...not the left in the dust.
Do you want your church to multiply disciples greatly? If we say, "YES," we need to use God's plan to multiply disciples. And what is God's plan to lead us to multiply?
A UNIFIED TEAM of SHEPHERDS (Elders) and SERVANTS (Deacons and Deaconesses) is what we need. Joel and Ryan talk today about how God's called church leadership team is the tool God uses to teach, train, equip, and unify the church so that we can achieve His mission.
An Elder is also a Shepherd and and Overseer and is called to serve the church. Deacons and Deaconesses are called alongside to help maintain the unity of the body by serving people's needs and assisting the Elders in executing God's mission for the church.
Trust between the Elders and congregation is so important and acts like the oil to keep an engine running smoothly. Listen in today to learn how to build trust or repair fractured trust in leaders and to overcome the enemy's strategy to divide the church.
When the church is UNIFIED, God is GLORIFIED and great things can happen to bring people to faith in Jesus and grow to maturity in Christ.
Satan, our enemy, wants to shut us up all the time. But, God has called us to be HIS WITNESSES and to ALWAYS BE READY to share the reason for the HOPE we have in Jesus Christ with anyone we meet.
Jerry, Carol, and Ryan, talk through the process that has called ALL as believers in Jesus Christ, to pursue and obey: to SHARE JESUS with people so that OUTSIDERS will become INSIDERS and continue the CYCLE by sharing Jesus with OUTSIDERS.
Sharing Jesus isn't a FORMULA or a SALES PITCH. Sharing Jesus is sharing God's truth in Scripture and our story with Jesus of repenting of our sins and believing in Jesus ALONE to save us through FAITH in CHRIST'S FINISHED WORK!
As you listen, we are praying that you will amazed at the power that taking the STEP OF BAPTISM can have in our lives and then to continue growing to follow Jesus and teach all followers EVERYTHING that Jesus has commanded us to do.
We come to believe and be saved through the GOSPEL, then we come to know how to LIVE for Jesus through the GOSPELS (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).
Share this podcast today with someone you know! Let's PRAY for opportunities to share Jesus!
We are not all the same. We are all quite different.
Yet in Christ's Church we are to be unified and not remain divided into our own little sub-groups.
The World System forces UNIFORMITY, requiring everyone to think the same and be the same. You can't have a view that's different from THE NARRATIVE.
The World System also focuses too much on all our differences and desires to put us into its own groups that remain divided.
In today's podcast, Rachel, Jason, and Ryan talk about how JESUS' CHURCH is totally different than the World by being UNIFIED through faith in Jesus Christ and allowing every person to STILL MAINTAIN their GOD-GIVEN uniqueness.
How can we work to build this UNITY that Jesus died and rose again to secure for us? How about through NATURAL RELATIONSHIPS with one another in HIS CHURCH so that we can be the FELLOWSHIP of DIFFERENTS that God created us to be?
ONE BODY. MANY MEMBERS. UNITED in CHRIST. NOT DIVIDED. His Beautiful Church!
Church discipline is not meant to be scary, negative, or go nuclear.
Biblical discipline is directed by the Scriptures and is meant to restore relationships with God and with our brothers and sisters in Christ. It's really incredible when God gives us His grace to restore relationships. This is what Joel and Ryan are talking about on today's podcast.
Discipline is not always easy to go through, but it's for our good, the church's good, and the good of the community in which we live. Discipline and restoration really can't happen well unless we're WITH ONE ANOTHER in the body. We do need to be physically present with one another regularly and consistently to do restoration well.
Let this podcast help you take steps toward spiritual health as you work to live in harmony with your brothers and sisters.
You don't have to live the life of faith on your own. You don't need to fight the good fight of the faith on a solo mission. That isn't God's best for us. Actively Pursuing Jesus with God's Family in the Church is!
Everything changes when love enters the equation and that is exactly what Jonathan and Ryan will be talking about in today's podcast. Share this episode with a friend!
It's easy to get in a cycle of not glorifying God in our lives, drifting away, and living life on our own. But what we're missing when we allow drifting to happen is having the RESOURCES through our RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH OTHER to keep passionately pursuing a relationship with Jesus together!
We're praying that this podcast will help BRING YOU BACK TO CHRIST'S BODY, the Church!
Ask God for His strength to do what He wants you to do to begin reconnecting and actively participating with His Body! There's a lot of Jesus and growth with your BROTHERS and SISTERS in God's Family waiting just on the other side of your decision.
What's holding you back?
How consistently and actively would you say you are in responding to God's Word preached and taught? God's Word is meant to be so much more than just HEAD KNOWLEDGE.
We desperately need God's Word to live a life that reflects Jesus and impacts the relationships we have in our lives.
God's Word is meant to transform our lives. When we share God's Word with people we know, we can never know the full impact or the lives that will be transformed.
Sharing God's Word is an adventure we're all invited to join, both as a student and as a teacher. In today's podcast, Gary, Roy, and Ryan practically share how teaching and preaching can be a regular practice in all of our lives.
What we do together SHAPES US! When we're an active part of a group gathering we can become better than we were before, or worse, depending on the type of people we are allowing to influence us.
In today's podcast, Mark and Ryan talk about what can happen when we invest in time worshipping together as a church and how God can shape us to be more like Christ as we regularly GATHER TOGETHER.
It's too easy to miss out on the many short little conversations that lead to longer conversations or opportunities to do things together. It's too easy to be TOO INDIVIDUALISTIC. WE NEED EACH OTHER!
Gathering together is much more than a cure our loneliness. We can be help one another grow to be more like Christ!
What is conversion? From WHAT to WHAT? And is CONVERSION really needed? YES!
What we really need most in our lives is CONVERSION through faith from deep in our heart. This is what we need and what Joel and Ryan discuss today on On Our Way Home.
If the Holy Spirit doesn't give you NEW LIFE through CONVERSION, though REPENTANCE from our sins and FAITH in JESUS CHRIST, there would be NO SALVATION and no CHURCH.
We just can't clean ourselves up on the outside to try to make ourselves acceptable to God.
What conversion does is replaces our black heart of sin and gives us a NEW HEART that is written with God's Law by God Himself.
Have you been converted by FAITH? Are you trying to clean yourself up on your own? Check out God's alternative and then let that change lead you to WORSHIP!
What is a church? Is church just an extra add on to our lives or is church essential for life?
Is it a CLUB? Is it a place to be ENTERTAINED?
As we rediscover church this year it's important for us to know why church is essential based on what the Scriptures say and what the church IS.
As Dwight, Jason, and Ryan discuss this chapter today, we will discover how the preaching of the Word anointed by the Holy Spirit can jar us loose if we get spiritual corrosion through lack of obeying God's Word.
You will also discover how our relationships with one another can really help us live for Christ more effectively together. The church should never be a CLUB. We should not be about entertaining people. We're essentially a FAMILY.
Love the church and live as the church loving God and loving one another.
It's easy to give way to fear. And our culture today is being heavily influenced and affected by fear. But the Church of Jesus lives by faith in Jesus.
It's easy to drift away from ACTIVE MUTUAL PARTICIPATION in the body life of the Church due to individualism or consumerism.
Anna, Garrick, and Ryan talk about persecution, fear, faith, the essential need of believers to be active participants in the BODY and obediently walking with Christ and OTHERS in the Church.
Hopefully this podcast will challenge you and encourage you to REMEMBER what the CHURCH truly is and to get back to regularly participating in the BODY. Gathering for Worship each week as a body is far more important and essential than we may realize.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, let's live as Christ has called us to live.
Let's Rediscover Church together!
A great way to start 2022 is by REPENTING.
Believe it because that's what Psalm 120 is all about.
Repenting puts you in relationship with Jesus and with other brothers and sisters who can help you as you walk with Jesus.
Repenting isn't just feeling bad about your choices. It isn't about earning our way. It's about getting in relationship with God and staying in relationship with Him on His Way home.
We always need repentance. ALWAYS. This is where life begins. As we begin 2022 with this podcast from July 21st, 2021, we need to remember how great repentance is because it connects with by faith to Jesus and His church, His Body, your brothers and sisters.
Jesus promised His followers that when He left to return to His Father in Heaven that they would do greater works than the ones He had done.
But what exactly are those greater works? Could it be that loving someone practically and sacrificially who is very different than you is one of those greater works?
What if sharing your story of coming to know Jesus or living your life WITH JESUS so that someone becomes interested in who Jesus is, is one of the GREATER WORKS?
Jesus calls His followers to live their lives, not for themselves but for the Kingdom of God, and to do good works that He prepared us in advance to do (Eph. 2:10)!
Listen today and be ENCOURAGED that God wants to use you, and CAN USE YOU, just as you are, in the every day schedule of your life, to reach, serve, and LOVE people for Him!
How would you describe your relationship with God at this moment?
Obedience is an important part of that relationship, but God is more interested in our hearts and minds than in merely external obedience.
If God has OUR HEARTS, He will naturally have our external obedience as well.
A more mature faith is what each of us wants. Obedience is a key part, but discovering how our relationship with God is the foundation behind our obedience can encourage us in many ways.
Listen in to today's podcast today with Anna, Tyler, and Ryan, to hear the discussion on faith, obedience and developing our relationship with Jesus.
Is love something you have to do or is love something that you just DO?
Sometimes we can choose a comfortable life over a life lived on mission with Jesus.
What would cause us to make that choice? How can we grow in consistently choosing a life lived on mission, which is really a life lived loving God and loving people He brings into our paths?
Listen to Roy and Joel discuss living a life with LOVE on the TOP SHELF, share with a friend, and take steps to reconnect with Jesus and a local church body. Living life with other followers of Jesus in His church is simply the best way to love and be loved. See how this could work in your life as you listen to today's podcast.
Actively participating in Our Mission gives us great meaning in life. But what is our mission?
Our mission is to MAKE DISCIPLES in all the world of EVERY PEOPLE and of EVERY NATION. This is why Jesus came and it's what He's sending us to do together.
It takes a team to build a bridge. When we work together we can help each other overcome our tendencies to be TOO BUSY, TOO DISTRACTED, or TOO DISCOURAGED.
How can we do this? Listen to Joel and Ryan talk about the possibilities today on On Our Way Home.
Our new VISION statement isn't meant to be a catchy slogan that fits on a T-SHIRT,
because it definitely WON'T! It's too long.
But the point of our VISION STATEMENT is to give us a redefined focus for the next three to five years that will help us better achieve our MISSION to MAKE DISCIPLES.
In today's podcast, Joel and Ryan discuss how Reaching, Maturing, and Multiplying people in our body and especially in our Life Groups will be an important focus for us in next few years.
Reaching, Maturing, and Multiplying aren't an activity for SOMEONE to do alone. It's a team task that our Life Groups will be doing together which will lead to reaching more people through God's Word by the Power of the Holy Spirit as He works through us.
Most of our relationships need a REFOCUS from time to time. It's easy to drift. It's easy to lose passion. It's easy to be discouraged.
SO...allow this podcast with Joel and Ryan to be the nice little "kick in the pants" that we're praying this will be...so that we'll ALL reignite a passionate relationship with Jesus.
How is your prayer life with God? How well are you able to share a sweet little message from God's Word to people who might need it in your life (including you)? How can we stay on our MISSION that Jesus gave to us to make disciples when we are fed up with people?
I don't know that this little podcast will give you everything needed to answer the following questions, but we do pray that you can find the help you need to take a passionate step to reignite your love relationship with Jesus Christ! IT CAN HAPPEN! Pray that it will!
Jesus really loves you! He wants a REAL relationship with us. But what will it take to persuade us to become an ALL IN active part of a local church?
For someone who is a part of Cornerstone, we define ALL IN as consistently connecting with God through worship on our Sunday Morning Gathering, becoming an active part of a smaller group of people in a Life Group, and finding a place to serve WITH OTHERS using the spiritual gifts that the the Holy Spirit has given to you to use to build up Christ's body.
Jonathan and Ryan spend some time on the podcast today talking about how God works to move us from just checking our box off after completing some religious activities to pursuing a REAL RELATIONSHIP with Jesus and other followers that keeps changing our lives as we connect with Jesus.
Curious about how God works to do this? Listen in and share this episode with anyone you know who may have drifted away from a REAL RELATIONSHIP with JESUS.
Living on Mission for Jesus is not living on vacation. We need to be reminded to encourage one another to LOVE and GOOD DEEDS for Jesus. It's easy to drift. It's easy to be selfish.
In this replaying of our podcast discussion from Chapter 7 of Come and See, Mark and Ryan discuss how using the gifts that God has given to EACH ONE of us is so important as we live on Jesus' MISSION together. Serving others puts us in line with how Jesus lived His life.
We pray that Mark's words and the Scriptures from the message on Sunday and this discussion will help us all to remember what's important as we walk with Christ. We're members of Christ's body on mission with Jesus, not on a cruise ship consuming what others can do for us.
As we are unified in worshipping God, great things can happen with us as a body and in our community.
In part two of this discussion on Cornerstone's worship distinctives, Joel and Ryan talk about how being Engaged, Focused, Blended, and Unified will greatly impact us positively for Christ.
We must not allow our preferences to overshadow our love for one another and Jesus Christ as we gather corporately for WORSHIP as HIS BODY.
Coming together to worship GOD with ONE VOICE as a multi-generational church family is beautiful to God and powerful in our lives. Share this episode with a friend and talk about how working to be unified in our WORSHIP can dramatically affect God's Kingdom for good.
Worship is our whole life in response to God's WORK to SAVE US from our sin. Worship is powerful. Being unified in our worship is ESSENTIAL!
This is probably the reason that the enemy targets our worship to be a place of disunity rather than a UNIFIED powerful place to PRAISE JESUS together.
As a local church, Cornerstone's Elders have developed our mission and vision, and also a statement on our WORSHIP DISTINCTIVES that are BASED on SCRIPTURE.
Of all the podcasts to listen to, this one and the next will be very important for our body life as a family of faith as we walk together with JESUS!
Take your time. Slowly work through the 8 statements and the Scriptures attached to each distinctive. CHECK YOUR EMAIL for these documents which will be sent out this week so that we will be ALL READY for Romans 12:1 this SUNDAY!
What is your ONE THING in life? Would you say that your one thing was BLESSING GOD?
On today's podcast, Joel, Jason, and Ryan talk about how living a life of gratitude is needed and how we can remember to engage in being grateful to Jesus for everything He has done, keeps doing, and will do for us.
We look to many things in life to give us meaning and significance, but they all ultimately fail to deliver what we think they may give. Only God blesses us so that we may bless Him, now and forever.
Blessing Jesus is what we're made for!
We are all CALLED to live in community with other followers of Jesus. But sometimes we can see people as only a problem to be solved or a widget in a big machine.
But each person is someone whom God created and for whom Christ died. And we can't make disciples of Christ UNLESS we're living in COMMUNITY with other followers. That's what God's Word says in Hebrews 10:24-25.
On today's podcast Garrick, Rachel, and Ryan talk about how PURSUING CHRIST and COMMUNITY is possible, needed, and GOOD for us.
Take a step to get back into community if you've drifted away. We discover the blessing of God, as Psalm 133 says, when we're living together in UNITY.
Obedience is essential to stay on the road home to our Father. Obedience isn't legalism. And we shouldn't try to use our obedience just to get what we want. Obedience is all about having and maintaining a growing relationship with God.
The better our relationship with God, the better our obedience will be. So, what is your relationship with God like right now and how would you describe your obedience?
Tyler, Anna, and Ryan talk about obedience from many angles and discover how our track record with God is like weight in the bottom of the ship to keep us stable as we move with faith into the future.
Share this episode with any and all of your friends so that we can keep growing closer to God TOGETHER.
We all need pruning to keep from getting OUT OF CONTROL in our lives.
Psalm 131 (all about HUMILITY) will help us to KEEP HUMBLING ourselves before God so that He can LIFT US UP.
We all need Humility in consistent doses for our journey home as we walk with Jesus.
Humility will keep us from trying to control people our kids, our co-workers, and our family.
Humility will keep us from thinking too highly of ourselves.
Humility will keep us from thinking too lowly of ourselves.
Humility will lead us to love being with God because of WHO HE IS,
and not so much because of what HE CAN GIVE US.
BUT HOW can we stay humble? Listen in as Dwight, Joyce, and Ryan discuss how we can be more like Jesus, gentle and HUMBLE in heart.
We all experience suffering during our life . We cannot escape suffering. It is real and not an illusion that we can ignore or suppress. But how do we deal with the suffering? And how can we find HOPE?
What does Psalm 130 say about what we should do on our journey home when the bottom falls out of our life?
In our podcast today, Larry and Ryan talk about how the writer of Psalm 130 gives us a liberating and freeing way to honestly and openly work through times when the "bottom falls out of our lives" that leads us to HOPE.
Need a little HOPE today or do you know someone who could use a little HOPE in their journey? Then this podcast could be a great beginning to connecting with Jesus and some brothers and sisters in Christ to find God's rescue and God's forgiveness.
The Race of our life with Jesus Christ is long and hard. But Christians, true followers of Jesus, are TOUGH.
So how can we keep running the race, stay in the race, not quit, stop, or give up?
Maurie and Ryan talk about Psalm 129 today and how GOD is sticking with us so WE CAN keep sticking with Him.
We all face discouragement in our walk with Jesus. We all face difficulties and attacks from the enemy, but Jesus has defeated the enemy and HIS TRUTH and HIS LIFE can help us to keep running the race set before us with our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus. (Heb. 12:1-2).
Listen to the podcast and share this episode with anyone you know who has unplugged from Jesus, or a good local church to encourage them to Get in the Race and Stay in the Race with Jesus!
Where can we find HAPPINESS? Happiness isn't as elusive as we might think.
On today's podcast, Bethany and Ryan talk about where we can find true happiness. Happiness isn't found by being focused on yourself, having a perfect life, or not having any or many problems.
God's WAYS and His PRESENCE are two places where we can find happiness that lasts.
Curious about the details of finding happiness?
Listen in today and share this with a friend and talk about taking steps to finding TRUE happiness by knowing and walking with Jesus, On Our Way Home!
Work isn't meant to be a four letter word. But how can we keep a Godward focus as we go about our work? Sometimes this is a struggle.
In the podcast today, Jason and Ryan talk about how we weren't made to work for the sake of working. We were made to work for God and to serve others.
Read Psalm 127, read chapter 9 in A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, and listen in today to discover how developing relationships with people and discovering God's rest are at the heart of what it means to work the way God works.
If you have problems, YOU CAN HAVE JOY!
But JOY can be difficult to understand because it is not circumstantial and it is not a formula. JOY is produced through our relationship with Jesus especially through faith and obedience.
Joel and Ryan talk today about where JOY originates and HOW we can experience real, deep, JOY that remains through whatever situation we find ourself in, in our life.
It's easy for our emotions or our runaway thoughts to take the driver's seat and hijack our faith. We can find ourselves leaving a place of security in God into insecurity as we face life's challenges.
DJ and Ryan talk through how OUR SECURITY IN GOD, which is renewed and reviewed through worship can powerful impact our lives. In worship, through God's Word, we encounter and connect in relationship with the God who saves us, keeps us, and protects us like the mountains surround Jerusalem.
There is not an eternal fist that will keep pounding us in the face. We are protected in this life and eternally through God's love and power through His salvation given to us through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Hard times can push us to our limit and cause us to wonder if God is aware and able to rescue us from our problems and stresses in life.
And Psalm 124 is a great reminder that God doesn't go off and abandon us, He rescues us from the mouth of the monster and the dangerous flood threatening our existence.
The truth of God's rescue, that God's people sing in the face of challenging situations, is a group effort to remind and encourage us to praise the God who rescues us for His Glory and our good.
We need to keep encouraging one another to keep praising the God who loves us eternally in Jesus Christ and has rescued us forever through the Blood of His Only Son as we walk together with Jesus on our way home.
Understanding God's character brings amazing service out of our lives. We are actually saved by grace through faith in Jesus to do good works for God. We're made to serve!
But why do we struggle to find our way to a life of service? How can we make sure that we're serving others for the right reasons and from the right posture?
Garrick and Ryan talk about these questions on the podcast today and will help you to take steps so that you can grow in your SERVE-ability.
Discover how asking God WHO and HOW He wants us to serve can help us keep our heart in a humble posture serving others.
What VALUE would you place on the importance of getting all together as God's people for WORSHIP? Worship is the topic of Chapter 5, in Eugene Peterson's book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.
On today's podcast, Tyler and Ryan discuss how getting together as God's people to worship Him is what we were MADE FOR! Worshipping together also gives us a peace, a joy, a sense that everything is going to be okay, and that NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
It's amazing that declaring God's praises and worth with our mouths, words, and minds, together can have such a huge impact on our lives as followers of Jesus. Worshipping keeps us unified and on track in our lives with Jesus.
Allow God to encourage and challenge you through the podcast today to WORSHIP HIM TOGETHER each week! Let's keep saying to each other, "LET'S GO TO WORSHIP!"
Little things to us may be big things to God. Do you believe this statement is true? Does God really care about the seemingly small things of our lives? Does He protect us and watch over every little detail of our lives?
Anna and Ryan talk today about Psalm 121 and the chapter, "Providence," from Eugene Peterson's book A Long Obedience in the same direction. You may be surprised to hear how God does actually care about the little things of life.
Learn how God's protection is a song we always need to sing in praise to Him in today's podcast.

Repenting is the beginning of a beautiful grace filled JOURNEY. But what is repentance, REALLY?
Joel and Ryan talk about how getting fed up with this world...sick and tired of how things are...is the beginning of the Path to the Father by WAY of JESUS!
REPENTANCE is what Psalm 120 is all about and how God's people began their journey to Jerusalem for the HIGH HOLIDAYS three times a year.
They left realizing that this world is filled with LIARS and they were for PEACE. That placed them as PILGRIMS on God's ROAD to the place where God's Presence dwelled. And that's exactly where WE want to find ourselves, on a journey together to God.
Ever take a road trip and bring your favorite tunes along to keep you company, provide some energy, and keep you encouraged on the journey?
That's EXACTLY what Joel and Ryan will be talking about on today's podcast. God actually gave His people some TUNES to keep them FOCUSED on their way to Jerusalem to celebrate Him and the ways that He has provide and keeps providing for them.
God's people would take three big trips a year to worship Him and as God's People, His Church, today, we also need to remember these tunes to keep us focused and encouraged as we take the journey as His pilgrims ON OUR WAY HOME.
JOIN US on our JOURNEY through the Psalms of Ascent (Psm. 120-134) as we discuss Eugene Peterson's book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.
Worshipping God is a journey, not a destination. And worship is meant to be more than just words that come out of our mouths. Worship should be the cry of our hearts in RESPONSE to GOD'S love for us in Jesus Christ.
So how can we continue to pursue God in praise and stay out of the rut of routine? Rob, Holly, and Ryan discuss how to continue growing to worship God in spirit and in truth while living in this world where we don't always feel like worshipping God.
Worship is more than following our feelings. Worship is really a choice. And as we prepare to work through the book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction by Eugene Peterson, we will find that praise through the Psalms of Ascent (Psm. 120-134) is fuel in our tank to keep us tracking together ON OUR WAY HOME!
How can we GO and BE the followers that Jesus wants us all to BE?
Living life together on mission with Jesus in each other's lives is the way Jesus wants us to live. But we cannot live this life on our own, we need the Holy Spirit and we need each other.
Joel and Ryan wrap up the book, Come and See, talking about how BEING isn't just positive thinking or a formula to follow.
Going and BEING is more like relying on Jesus in REAL RELATIONSHIPS with one another. When we're doing this, we will be able to see Jesus transforming us slowly but surely through our lives BEING lived together.
How can we fight against being comfortable, busy, and distracted so that we forget how great life can be living on mission with Jesus?
Jason and Ryan talk through how living on mission with Jesus IS TOTALLY DOABLE through God's Holy Spirit who lives inside of each person who has accepted Jesus as his or her SAVIOR by FAITH.
Discover in today's podcast how living on mission with Jesus is letting our everyday relationship with Christ naturally flow out of our hearts and into the lives of our neighbors and friends that God has placed in our lives to reach.
Do you believe that God wants you to join Him in accomplishing His greater works? And if the answer is YES, then what are the GREATER WORKS that God wants us to do with Him and for Him?
Larry and Ryan will be talking through these questions so that we can be to more aware of the possible ways that God can use us to accomplish His purposes.
Learning to be more sensitive to God's leading to encourage people may be easier than we imagine as we rely on the Holy Spirit to lead the way.
How in the world could God use someone like me to reach people for Jesus?
This isn't only a great question, but when Roy and Ryan discuss the chapter, "Changing the Campfire Conversation," you'll discover that this is a GREAT prayer to pray.
Putting your seatbelt on after praying for God to use you to reach people, is a challenging step to take.
Listen at your own risk! Your life with Jesus may just be on the verge of a GREAT CHANGE!
We all struggle with troubles. And when we do, we look for wisdom and counsel to make a good decision, to get a better perspective, or to receive hope from someone hearing and understanding the challenge we're facing.
SO...Where can we find this kind of counsel? Jason and Ryan talk about how receiving and giving counsel from the people you're living life with is the BEST PLACE to find wisdom.
But how does this all work out? Listen today to find encouragement to pursue COMMUNITY friendships and relationships that will support and encourage you in your walk with JESUS CHRIST.
It can be scary to let people see and know the REAL you. But when we're living in a faith relationship with JESUS and walking with other followers of JESUS, letting people see the real us is really healthy and good.
But how can we take steps to be our true self and why is this essential for walking in faith with Jesus?
Don and Ryan talk today about how being open and acknowledging our brokenness is really healthy and helpful as we walk in relationship with Jesus and a few close friends.
We all want to have great relationships with people. No one wants to leave a long string of broken, unresolved conflicts in our wake. But what is THE WAY to resolve conflicts so that the result is restored relationships and not ruined ones?
On today's podcast, Joel and Ryan talk about THE WAY Jesus commands and calls all of His followers to use when working through conflicts. While it's not always easy to work through conflicts, when we chose to FOLLOW JESUS and obey His commands, our lives will demonstrate how believing and following Jesus make a difference in our actual everyday lives...even in the area of resolving conflicts.
Relationships are extremely important to God and and should be to us. Jesus prayed that His Church, His followers, would be ONE, just as He and the Father are ONE (John 17).
But it's easy for an offense to become a wedge that separates brothers and sisters in Christ.
Dwight and Ryan talk through how to work through offenses, misunderstandings, or hurts that come between believers so that our relationships can maintain the UNITY that Jesus died and rose again to GIVE to us.
NO ONE likes conflict. But we are called as followers of Jesus to work through our conflicts well. We should not pretend they don't exist. We should not avoid conflict. Followers of Jesus should be able to work through conflicts to resolution whenever they happen. But this is much harder TO DO than we may realize.
Joel and Ryan talk through the many dynamics of resolving conflicts today based on the chapter "Fight to the BETTER end" in the book, Come and See. Becoming a PEACE MAKER is hard work which will require all of us to WORK TOGETHER so that people will want to see Jesus in us as we love one another THROUGH RESOLVING CONFLICTS.
Some of us are very good at making excuses. Actually we all are!
Rachel and Ryan discuss today why making excuses to NOT BE in a smaller community of people following Jesus is a really bad idea.
In this episode you will discover why laying down your pride and taking a step toward joining a BIBLICALLY COMMUNITY just might be one of the best steps you can take in life.
Who knows the REAL YOU? The incredible truth about Jesus and His followers that Ryan and Dwight will discuss in today's podcast is that Jesus and His followers accept and love the real us and want to live life together with us.
There is a lot more to life together with Jesus than can be found in just attending a church service or an event. We are made for life together with Jesus and others in the everyday stuff of life.
Life gets hard sometimes. I work hard for a while, and then I choose to take a break...to coast.
Taking a break and getting refreshed is a good thing. Letting a break turn into coasting for a long time ISN'T a good thing. Especially if my coasting causes me to drift away from Jesus and His mission for me as I actively participate with others in His body, the church.
Jason and Ryan today will be discussing why consistently plugging into the church, into a life with a small group of friends, and into some accountability relationships are good for us in our walk with Jesus. Are you coasting? Or are you all-in with Jesus and His mission?
Being overly critical is so easy to do. And it's the Porcupine under the Pillow in our conversation for the On Our Way Home Podcast. It's so easy to be critical about things and even to become critical about the Church. But developing a critical spirit isn't always what's best for living life.
Ryan and Anna talk today about how to eliminate a critical spirit from your life and how being an active "all-in" participating part of a church can really help to win the battle against having a negative, critical spirit.
How can you command someone to love? Is it still love if you have to do it?
Joel and Ryan discuss how God's command to love is really for our best and actually transforms us even though we may not always like to obey. Hear how Jesus perfectly loves us and makes it possible for our lives to be transformed on today's podcast.
Is our life with Christ and others in the Church more like a CRUISE SHIP or a BATTLESHIP?
Mark and Ryan discuss the differences between living to serve others and living to be served by others on the podcast. Living life on mission with Jesus really is the best way to live so that others will want to come and see Jesus at work transforming our lives.
Life can be hectic and time worshipping with the Church can seem to be JUST ONE MORE THING to do. But is that truly what Church is? Just a box to check in our busy week? Or is there more to Church that just attending a meeting?
In the discussion today, Joel and Sarah talk about how living our life together with other followers of Jesus is more than just a box to check. Listen in as they discuss how living a life of worship without guilt is possible in the every day stuff of life.
Why can church be boring? And how can we keep church from just being a place to attend and to give some of our money to keep the lights on?
On today's episode Ryan and Don talk about how church is so much more than a building and a service. Church is more like a great meal with friends that you keep coming back for because you're growing to know Jesus and a few friends better and better.
How can you have "just enough" of Jesus? Why is being in relationship with Jesus and living on His mission such a great way to live?
In today's podcast, Ryan and Maurie talk about the First Church of Ever (Acts 2:42-47) in the book Come and See. We will discover how God reaches people and connects them to His Church so that even more people can know Jesus as their Savior and live on mission for Him.
Trying to protect yourself from being hurt can leave you isolated and lacking love and real life. Especially if protecting yourself keeps you from being an active part of God's beautiful Bride...His Church.
Ryan and Joel talk about how the church is NOT a Brass-Knuckled bride, but beautiful and worth being in relationship with Jesus and others so that together we can be the hope of the world.
How can we keep ourselves from believing sweet little, or not so little lies?
Lies are anything but sweet. In this On Our Way Home episode, Ryan and Joel discuss Come and See chapter two and how we avoid falling for the enemy's lies and keep growing together to trust God more.
The goal of On Our Way Home is to ENCOURAGE you to keep taking steps with JESUS, with CORNERSTONE, and with a few CLOSE FRIENDS, so that we will keep on JESUS' PATH. This is a path of TRUTH that leads to LIFE with the FATHER.
It's easy to settle for comfort when God has a higher calling on our lives. In this episode Joel and Roy discuss what is on God's TOP SHELF and how we can move away from an easier and more complacent bottom shelf life.
The On Our Way Home Podcast is to encourage you to keep taking steps with Jesus, with Cornerstone, and with a few friends so that we will keep on Jesus' path of TRUTH which leads to LIFE with the FATHER.
How does transformation happen? It's not a solo effort. Today, we discuss the steps that will help us to live out the life that Jesus calls us to live together so that more people will COME and SEE who Jesus is through the body life of His church.
This Episode answers the question, "Why this Podcast?"
