It’s growing. And it’s getting scary. And it troubles me that WE (the public) are being used as a tool in the warfare. Kids are involved. Lives may be at stake. And it’s time we take things seriously and stop acting as though these actions are normal. Even for Kanye.

I believe that there’s a BUNCH of people that are in situations where you are being underutilized and underappreciated. You feel like you’re in limbo. You have been working HARD to reach your maximum potential and you seem to be spinning your wheels on a day-to-day basis. And I want to spend today’s broadcast reminding you about the greatness of YOU.
That’s what I want us to discuss today. Where is the line on racism? Where is the line on the N-Word?
Many of you have NON-Black people in your respective circles that use the N-Word on a regular basis.

If you are an African-American, you not only have an obligation… It is your God-given DUTY to disrupt the system. Period. The status quo shouldn’t be acceptable to ANY OF US.
And if you’re an African-American who White America has convinced that the ONLY way for you to succeed is for you to turn your back on your own people, in your quest for attention and the dollar, you have made the poor decision to throw the same people that were at the back of the bus UNDER the bus. And I pray that you eventually find what you and your bank account are looking for. Selling out your own people to ironically find yourself…

Yes, technological advancement has thwarted this generation from seeking out regular outdoor activities like we used to back in the day. That's a factor for sure.
But they think we were always bored. They think because we didn’t have the technology THEY now have, there was NO WAY we could have enjoyed being kids.

he National Football League is 70 percent Black. It’s ownership is currently 100 percent White. There are 32 teams in the league and there is currently only ONE Black Head Coach. Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers. One of the BEST coaches in the league that has never had a season below .500.
I don’t know where this Brian Flores lawsuit is headed, but we African-Americans are going to have to decide on whether we can continue to support a league that may not have our best interests at heart.
WE LOVE US SOME NFL FOOTBALL. THESE 2022 PLAYOFFS MAY BE THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. BUT IF WE CONTINUE TO SEE EVIDENCE OF OUR KINGS BEING RELEGATED TO LESSER ROLES WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION, CAN WE CONTINUE TO GIVE THEM OUR DOLLARS AND OUR TIME?
Was Colin Kaepernick right all along? And will Brian Flores finish the job?

Yes, I understand that keeping confidentiality within every Black household should ALWAYS be high on the list of priorities. I’m not naive. There’s an abundance of people that would not ONLY like to laugh at your pain, but would probably work to use it against you in the future.
But the problem is, by keeping internal family issues kept in the proverbial closet, it allows the “sins of the family” to be a perpetual virus that almost ALWAYS eats away at the moral nucleus of the family members as time goes by.
And today’s topic is EASILY Exhibit A.
60 PERCENT OF BLACK WOMEN ARE SEXUALLY ABUSED BEFORE THEY TURN 18?
I just learned about this statistic. I’ll try to do it justice. Let’s talk about it.
We African-Americans are full of so much history. There are many that believe that we currently lack a CULTURE (for which I might agree), but there is no debating that we still have a HISTORY.
But it seems like we don’t give enough love and respect to older Kings and Queens. We have to do better in giving love to the forefathers and mothers that have paved the way for us all to still be able to exist in this country. Without them, we are NOTHING. And it is only right that we do everything possible to make their golden years as smooth as humanly possible. Giving credit where credit is due.
Mom. Dad. Grandma. Grandpa. Musical artists, classic actors and more.
Are other races of people BETTER at giving grace to those that came before them? Taking care of their elders? If so, how can we change that?

Ladies. I don’t think you understand. There are TWO parts of a man’s life that he will never betray…
His barber. And his favorite sports teams. Even ahead of YOU.
And if you’re on the wrong side of the thing he loves the most… Especially if the team YOU’RE rooting for beats HIS team…
It may be grounds for a breakup. Or perhaps even a divorce. I’m just kidding. Or am I?
Obviously, the transgressions of these two Black men have NO relation to one another.
But what happened with Barry Bonds back then and what’s happening with Jussie Smollett NOW is pretty commonplace with many shapes, sizes and social-economic backgrounds of African-Americans.
You could be in the midst of a productive (and perhaps even rich and famous) lifestyle when everything comes crashing down. And the question is…
Can we forgive one of US when we commit a short-term atrocity… When the vast majority of our life, we may have been a productive member of society?
Can you ignore someone’s past and focus on their craft?
Can you separate the skillset from the sin?
And more importantly… If you can… Why aren’t we willing to do the same thing for the young Kings and Queens in our neighborhoods?
This is 2022. And we are at a different place and time here in America. I can point to multiple moments just over the last few years that lend credence to the fact that we African-Americans are feeling like foreigners on our own home soil. In a country that we built with our bare hands.
But should we send a young King to fight for a country that couldn’t care less about him?
Some would say that regardless of the way in which you ‘capture the bag,’ you sometimes may have to compromise your principles to achieve your dreams.
But should we as African-Americans want our young Kings and Queens to show love to a country that refuses to love them back?
Is it STILL a viable option? Let’s talk about it.
Why would they rather watch King James on the basketball court than READ King James in Church on Sunday?
Why would they rather “Lift Every Mimosa To Their Lips” at Brunch rather than “Lift Every Voice & Sing” at Church on Sunday?
And why do you find MORE Millennial Kings and Queens willing to eat at Church’s Chicken while being too “Chicken” to go to Church on Sunday?
Yes. I kid. A little. Young Black people aren’t going to church anymore. Many of them aren’t even believing in God. And it’s easy to understand why.
And today, I want to spend my time telling you EXACTLY why I believe that is. Tap in. Let’s talk about it.
No one should have to bury a child. NO ONE.
Yes, if the “Circle of Life” remains intact, we are ultimately supposed to bury our grandparents and parents before we leave this thing called “life.”
But losing your child is HANDS DOWN the most insufferable tragedy a human being can ever experience. And we all need to keep Regina King and her family lifted up in prayer as they attempt to find answers on why Ian Alexander Jr. is no longer with us.
And that IS the question we are asking ourselves today.
How? Why? What happened? Were there any signs leading up to the tragedy? Do members of OUR families show any signs or symptoms? Are young African-Americans prone to harming themselves? How do we learn from this moment?

Is it customary for a woman to talk to her man about major changes with her looks?
Would it be disrespectful to make that decision without him knowing?
Would you expect HIM to inform YOU of a drastic change in his OWN appearance?
In other words… COULD IT BE CONSIDERED “CONTROLLING” IF A MAN FEELS THAT A WOMAN HAS TO CONSULT HIM BEFORE CUTTING HER HAIR?

Black People. Can we have a “real talk” conversation today? Give me my flowers though. I haven’t discussed COVID-19 with you since July 1st, 2021. My third week on the air. I understand that the discussions wear on your soul.
Yet, it would be irresponsible of me to come in here every day and talk about issues that are important to OUR people without illuminating a BRIGHT LIGHT on an issue that is plaguing African-American neighborhoods all throughout this country. That is… A still-lingering universal unwillingness to trust the US Government and take the COVID-19 Vaccine.
Let me try and convince you today. With updated information.
Let’s talk about it. Trust me. Join me.
Many believe that African-American adolescents are more aggressive due to Black parents pulling back on “whooping their children.” Sparing the rod and spoiling your child. Many believe that we are allowing Mainstream White America to push THEIR belief systems onto us. KNOWING that we operate underneath an entirely different set of standards.
A lot of you that are 35 and over remember getting whooped with a belt, a shoe, one of the orange Hot Wheels tracks, or asked to go and get three switches from the tree in the backyard which would make you look like a melanated Tony the Tiger, striped from head-to-toe, when all was said and done.
We saw it as normal. We saw our whoopings as a necessary evil. And that’s just the way things were.
But just because we SAW it as normal… Doesn’t mean it was RIGHT. Or was it?

African-Americans are seemingly turning a corner and rediscovering what “Black Beauty” is all about.
But what about those that don’t? What about those African-Americans that don’t buy into this modern-day Afrocentricity?
I believe that in 2022, one of our New Year’s Resolutions should be to simply… Get. More. Active.
I believe there is ONE effective way to assist these kids in finding the stability they need as they become the next largest African-American generation. ESPECIALLY as it relates to their education. Mentoring.
Can I be honest? I’m all up in my feelings today. After reading news reports on two tragedies that have taken place in two major cities over the last few days, something made me want to come in and embrace the Kings and Queens listening to show you love when I KNOW people don’t tend to give you love very often.
The events I’m speaking of are the horrific fires that have taken place in Philadelphia and New York.
These stories tear at the pit of my stomach. Why? Because they involve poor people of color. Beautiful people that not only have to physically and mentally work hard to keep food on the table, but do it within a society originally constructed with systemic and institutional racism. Under the American guise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This country was NEVER constructed for us. Even though it was built BY us.
That’s why it breaks my heart when I see HARDWORKING Black people be thrown in the dumpster fire (so to speak) and regardless of how hard we work, we can STILL never get to the mountaintop.
Let’s talk about it.
We devoted a show to young Kings last Friday. Today… The young Queens.
This is an interesting topic. I can tell you judging from the conversations I have had with people through the years, the answers differ depending on the generation you come from.
So what gives? Have we taken these restrictions off of our young Queens? Do we feel that being too strict was having an adverse effect on them? In our efforts to give them more freedom, have we possibly taken things too far? And do you believe our lackadaisical parenting has led to young girls acting out in a way they never have before?
Society wants OUR children. Is it winning? And is it too late?
Let’s talk about it.
I want to talk directly to the Queens that regularly listen to this broadcast today. No, I don’t want to turn this into another “Battle of the Sexes” conversation. Those debates are quite ubiquitous all throughout radio, TV, and social media this month as a lot of women are making New Year’s Resolutions to reset their love lives for the better.
No, I want to talk about YOU. Personally. And how you continue to overcome. Despite all the odds. I have a number of female African-American friends that are going through similar traumatic trials and I’m willing to bet that the vast majority of what THEY are going through is a shared sacrifice. And I’m also willing to bet that I can give you the Top 5 things that you’re dealing with. Things that are tinkering with your mental health as we speak. With statistical help from the Kaiser Family Foundation to prove it.
Let’s talk about it.
There is a LARGE segment of African-Americans that believe that buying historically feminine toys for boys is a questionable parenting philosophy.
Yes, they may consider themselves to be Liberal and Progressive people that vote Democrat in practically every election, yet they still feel that there is an intentional and concerted effort in America to emasculate the African-American male.
But does this fall in that category? Is cooking still a “woman’s activity?” Couldn’t this young King grow up to be a Head Chef in a restaurant, learn to cook Thanksgiving Dinner for his entire family, or simply fend for himself as he gets older?
Or are Black people (once again) unintentionally being caught up in the wave of progressivism even before we identify who we really are?
Let’s talk about it.
After watching the sudden public deterioration of a long-term celebrity marriage over the last week or so (Meagan Good & DeVon Franklin), it reminded me of a subject that we haven’t yet tapped into.
If you’re an avid listener to the program, you know that I fashion myself to be a man of faith. Not a perfect man. A simple man. A man “under perpetual spiritual construction.” And I want to spend Day 4 of my New Year’s Series this week talking about a topic that is arguably the most important in relation to everything we are talking about this week. Because without love for one another, Black life can’t flourish. We must be continually “pulling weeds and planting seeds.”
Ladies and Gentlemen… Kings and Queens… The topic I am referring to is…
Are women REEEEEEALLY looking for a God-fearing man? Or is it all talk?
Do women TRULY want a God-fearing man? Does a woman want a man that is all about that life?
Allow me to answer that question for you… I BELIEVE THE ANSWER IS NO.
I’ll explain. Tap in.
In order for us to reach the mountaintop of self-sufficiency, it’ll take a TREMENDOUS amount of resources to complete the task. History has shown us that our blind reliance on the government to allocate the necessary monies to our coffers to sustain our neighborhoods either leads to some form of miscommunication or blatant misappropriation.
But there is ONE ironclad, foolproof and guaranteed way that we African-Americans can ensure that we achieve the self-sustenance that we so richly deserve.
If we can FINALLY pull this off, I believe it will give us the financial and political capital necessary to make demands that could reinforce our positioning with American institutions for generations to come.

I want us to spend this broadcast talking about the power of speech and whether we African-Americans are equipped to navigate through the firestorm of microaggressions, negative undertones and all-out SLURS that we will be subjected to as we progress further and further through this American “racial reckoning.”
I also will give you some prime examples on how to discern between what’s in-bounds and out-of-bounds. Join me.
We had a conversation about WHY young people are hitting up affluent department stores and taking material possessions. Many of them African American. I know the answer. AND YOU DO TOO.
I already KNOW that I NEED GOD as the centerpiece of my life. That's a given. He is the way, the truth and the LIFE.
But as it stands now, I'm starting to change. The quarantine has shown me that a “personal relationship” with God doesn’t REQUIRE a congregation, a choir, a pastor, or even a building for that matter. I still love attending, but it's not as imperative as it used to be. Or is it?
And I’m not alone. A serious convo. Let's talk about it.
But what IS Black content? What constitutes content being deemed as “geared toward a Black audience?”
Does it have to feature a Black director, have Black actors in the lead roles, feature topics that are considered “Black-centric" and be a story told from a Black perspective?
And can a White person EVER write and direct a Black TV Show or Movie that is historically accurate, and more importantly… Captures the essence of the Black experience?
And do you care? Let's talk about it.
What is it about us African-Americans that we refuse to practice self-love and go to the doctor to ensure that we will be around for as long as humanly possible? What is that all about?
Let's discuss the things we all are thankful for after a tumultuous time within a Pandemic, racial tensions and market instability.
We should STILL be thankful for a LOT. Let's discuss as we approach Thanksgiving.
There are FAR too many variables for me to continue to support a practice that is so volatile. Especially when we African-Americans bear the brunt of the mistakes. I’m starting to believe that we African Americans aren’t impacted by death here in 2021 like we were as early as 10 years ago. Our emotions are changing. And not in the right direction.
