Hello Hivers,
It is a new week and I thought to start with a video of me prototyping one of the UI designs I made in the course of my UI/UX design internship.
A brief recap. The assignment was to design a mobile app for book donation. As a designer, it is not possible to just hit the ground and start designing without some user research. Researching will enable you to design from the user's point of view. In other words, there is a need to understand the behavior of potential users, what their pain points and frustrations are like, what will give them maximum satisfaction, etc. in order to be able to design a user-centered application.
So, in earnest, I did a bit of research through a survey, cumulated the responses in order to get the empathy map before extracting the pain points in order to know the core features that should be included in the app. All these I did before sitting down with Figma to proceed with the design and the result is what you are seeing in the video.
After designing, I prototyped the design in order to have a glimpse of how it will work when fully ready. If anyone is interested enough to help me test the prototype, the link is below: https://www.figma.com/proto/oY8loanSQ5jOqw2jEKPX5h/iBook?node-id=11%3A17&scaling=scale-down&page-id=11%3A2&starting-point-node-id=11%3A17&show-proto-sidebar=1
I know that the app might not be so great in terms of aesthetics. As a learner, my primary concern, for now, is to understand the basic principles behind designs and get apps out as simple as possible without losing any core features. All other things bordering around aesthetics will definitely come as time goes on.
What do you guys think?
Thank you.

Pounded Yam is a popular food among the Yoruba tribe in Southwestern Nigeria. It is particularly a signature food for People who are from Ekiti State and some parts of Osun State, like Ila Orangun and Ilesa. It is one of the many swallow foods found in this part of the country.
To those living in or are indigenes of Ekiti State and other areas mentioned above. Preparing and consuming pounded yam comes quite easy for them, almost of no cost in terms of efforts. To those in other parts of Yorubaland, however, it is always a big deal to prepare and consume the food. Hence, pounded yam is usually reserved for celebrations and special occassions. While every Tom, dick, and Harry is usually equipped with pounding skills in areas where the food is their signatured food, only very few people can pound in other areas.
Pounded yam, as it can be easily discerned from its name, is made from yam. While there are different species and varieties of yam, not all of them can be utilized in the preparation of the Dish. The quality and aesthetics of the final product also depends on the variety of yam that is used. Scientifically, the different species of yam include:
While the water yam is utilized in the preparation of another food which is also popular in a particular town in the Southwestern part of Nigeria, the Chinese yam is not so common in Nigeria. The only two yams utilized in pounding yam is the white yam and the yellow yam. Even at that, some varieties of these species come out poorly when used to prepare pounded yam.
preparation
After getting a suitable yam, it is peeled and washed thoroughly to remove all traces of sand or mud. Thereafter, the tuber is cut into smaller pieces and carefully arranged in a pot. Measured amount of water is added into the pot before it is placed on fire for the yam to boil And soften.
Pounding of the softened yam is done in a mortal, although, technological advancement has now made it such that there is now a pounding machine. However, the difference in the quality of a pounded yam pounded by a skillful pounder and that of a machine is usually glaring with the former being of higher quality.

A friend's toddler just started crying all of a sudden and when we got there, he's managed to squeeze himself in a trolley compartment. The problem started when he tried to get out and there seemed to be no way.
