Michele Bowman

Have you believed a lie of false confidence that you get from something outside of Christ?

If you are a Christian woman, and you desire to have the right mindset when it comes to confidence then you are in the right place. The world had taught us to put our confidence in too many things that don’t line up with God’s Word.

Join me on this journey as we debunk lies we have believed and transform our minds with Truth from God’s Word so we can walk Confident in Christ alone.

We spend most ofour time in our home so it should be a pleasant and comfortable place to be,right?

But it should notbecome an idol. Our confidence or valueof who we are should not come from our home.

There are fourthings a home should be: safe, comfortable, pleasant, and clean.

Now don’t get mewrong, it’s alright to have a nice home, but don’t let it become an idol youworship. I know you are thinking “Iwould never make my home an idol.” I amsure you would never intentionally do that.

Let’s talk abouthow it might be an idol and you don’t even realize it. It’s okay friend. This is not judgement. This is us having real talk about real lifeand lies we have been taught.

How about a fourletter word that people may get embarrassed about when talking to others?

Rent.

Have you everfelt less than because you were renting and not buying your home?

You might haveeven noticed someone’s facial expression change as if they were judging youbecause you were renting. I am sorry if that happened to you. I have experienced that in the past and it’sjust silly.

Our value shouldnot come from whether we own or rent a home. Just like it should not come from how old or new, how big or small, oranything else about the place we live.

Unfortunately, Americanculture has made the size of our home a status symbol.

I amcurious.

Do you think theIsraelites ever compared their tents?

Do you thinkpioneers compared their log cabins?

Maybe they did,maybe they didn’t.

But we aretalking about us right now.

Do you get aproud feeling when someone says, “You have a beautiful home,”?

Do you get yourfeelings hurt if someone does not compliment your home?

Do you compareyour home to everyone else’s that you see?

Do you look forthings that are wrong with other people’s homes and feel proud because yourhome is not like that?

I know these maybe hard questions to answer. If they areI pray you will ask God to help you to view your home and the homes of othersin a different light.

As believer’s andfollowers of Christ we are not supposed to be caught up in our possessions somuch that we get our identity and worth from them.

Some people loveto decorate, and they have a real gift for it. I applaud you if you are one of those. Just make sure you’re decorating for your family and yourself, not forsocial media.

We and our familyshould have a home that is pleasant.

Making your homecozy and inviting if you have the gift of hospitality, does not have to be aproblem.

Hospitality is awonderful way to encourage others. Youknow I am all about that.

Make your home asafe place for your family and others so that they know when they are there, they will not be treated as the world treats people.

It's you and yourwillingness to invite people in that’s the gift.

It’s you thatwill cause them to want to be there not your home or possessions.

Have you everbeen to someone’s home and it did not look like anyone lived there?

It’s totallyalright for you not to have the “perfect” home. I want you to remember that if you are worried about someone visitingand afraid they will judge your home, then you probably need to check yourheart.

We are not livingby the opinions of other people any longer, are we?

Say it with me,“I am not living by the opinions of other people. I am living a godly life and do everything asunto the Lord.’

I hope you arestill with me and haven’t thrown the book in the trash or across the room.

This is such a big subject that everyone has an opinion about, don’t they? I know I shared in the body chapter aboutgoing on fad diets to lose weight and be a certain “acceptable” size.

I want this portion of the book to be about how amazing food is for us and hopefully changethe way you look at it.

I will admit that in the past I had a very distorted view of food. It was in two categories. I labeled it either “good” or “bad”.

If it helped me lose weight it was considered good. Anyother results would mean it was bad. Iused to view potatoes as the enemy.

But there was a time in the early 90’s when a blonde woman with short spiky hair made rice andpotatoes popular as a way of losing weight for about 5 minutes. If you remember her you are my age or older.

I will always say the best way of eating is eating real food. But if you eat a donut, it’s not the end of the world.

What is realfood? Real food is minimally processedfoods like fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, nuts, and seeds.

Stop going on “diets” that have a deadline. You need to approach your eating habitswith how you want to live the rest of your life.

Stop thinking that if you indulge in your favorite dessert occasionally that you area failure. I can’t tell you how manytimes I have eaten my favorite cookie or some good ole southern Banana Puddingand had feelings of guilt. Do you knowhow crazy it sounds when you allow food to make you feel bad? I know we have been programmed this way.

How many times have you allowed this guilt feeling to turn into a binge festbecause you wanted to get all the “bad” foods in before you started your “diet”again on Monday?

It’s only Thursday and you might as well enjoy the weekend and eat all you canright?

Wrong!!! We have to let go of these lies we have beentaught about eating being all or nothing.

It’s the same for your exercise schedule. Are you exercising every day? Do you feellike a failure if you don’t go to the gym 6-7 days a week? I know I felt that way many times. I even felt guilty for not working out.

There have been plenty of times where I felt like I needed to workout extra because Iate too much. Now I do strength trainingwith weights three times a week and enjoy walking a mile or two a couple oftimes a week.

Moving forward to one of the two biggest areas (no pun intended) of my life I have struggled with for over forty years, my body size and shape. It has just been in the couple of years that I have gained a much healthier view of my body. One of the biggest weights you will ever drop is stop worrying about the opinions of others. Anyone who follows me on social media knows I am a huge advocate of eating more real food than anything else. But I won’t lie, I love a good meat lovers pizza and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. There needs to be a balance. We will talk about a healthy relationship with food after we talk about body image.Part of the balance should not have anything to do with the size or shape of your body. Listen to this chapter and be sure and share with other women that you believe need to hear this message.

I am so glad you are still here after reading the clothing chapter. Most likely this one will step on your toes. But I pray you will receive it as love from one sister to another. I am only sharing these things with you to help you find freedom that you don’t even realize you are missing. When my eyes were opened, I started questioning everything I had been taught and realized the enormous amount of lies I believed. In this chapter we are going to expose lies that we have been taught about our face and body. How many promises have you heard about a product or service that will improve your outward appearance?“Check out this miracle wrinkle erasing cream.”“Look at this super-duper eyelid lifting lotion.”“You need this cellulite blaster.”“Get the body you have always dreamed.”“Checkout how I went from a size 12 to size 2 in 3 months.” We could go on and on with these one liners we see and hear everywhere. How many of them have you believed? I confess I have believed many of them and allowed my body image to be distorted by these “promises” from total strangers most likely trying to sell me something. Before those of you who sell skin care get your feathers ruffled, please hear me out. I am a huge advocate of helping women have healthy skin. Good skin care is a great way to help prevent skin cancer, psoriasis, and other skin conditions. But marketing products to “help” women with their “flaws” is a part of the problem. When we tell women it’s not acceptable to look whatever age they are, we make them think that there is something wrong with them. Be sure and listen to this episode to be encouraged and stop believing lies. Order the book on Amazon https://amzn.to/3ViCEJ3

Who are you wearing?” That’s the question they ask the “popular” crowd as they stop and pose so they can be photographed on the red carpet.    Personally, I haven’t watched awards shows in years.  The same “stars” are judged the next day and their choice of clothing is either praised or trashed.    Have you ever let what others think about your clothing determine what you wear?  I know I have done this many times.  Now let me confess about my who are you wearing era.  Confession is good for the soul, and I pray it helps you know that you are not alone.     I remember the first time I thought “who” I was wearing mattered.  The summer between 8th and 9th grade I learned about designer jeans and shoes.  I was looking in my TEEN magazine to see what types of clothes I should look for when my mom took me school shopping.    The emphasis was on the label across the right back side.  It was a person’s name.  Back then the popular names were Jordache, Pierre Cardin, Gloria Vanderbilt, Calvin Klein, and others.  Did you wear any of these?  These designer jeans ran between $40-$50.  Now that I look back that was a lot of money in the early 80’s to spend on a 14-year-old girl whose body was constantly changing.   Be sure and listen to this episode for more on our clothing compared to our confidence in Christ.

What’s the one thing that has been a blessing and a curse for the way women and girls see their worth? Did you guess social media? WINNER WINNER chicken dinner! I am not sure where that came from but it fits if you guessed right.Don’t you agree that social media has changed the way we do so many things? Before social media we had TV, magazines, and billboards telling us what types of things would make us look “perfect” and be more popular. Those of us that have been around a while realized that everything, we saw was not always real. There was a thing called airbrushing and trick photography that they used in advertising. Then along came the internet. We started seeing all the beautiful ads of those seemingly famous people we knew and wondered how much they were getting paid to promote that product. Then if you are like me, you start yelling at the computer or smartphone, “Can’t people see that this supermodel from thirty years ago selling anti-aging cream is totally using some kind of wrinkle erasing camera filter??? As if that was not enough lies for Satan to sell us, along comes social media. I remember having a Myspace account and thinking this is a fun thing. Poor Tom ended up having the competition run him off and many of us were interested in the new shiny toy called Facebook. Be sure and listen to this episode to be encouraged and share with a friend who you believe would also be encouraged.

“What makes a woman godly and what characteristics does she have? Be sure and listen to this episode to hear 10 traits of a godly woman. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.“‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭ “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.“‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭

It’s okay to tell God when you are hurting or sad. He already knows. You are not hiding it from Him. That should give us peace right there. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.“‭‭I Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭11‬ ‭

Scripture affirms this truth: "A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy" JOHN 16:21). Jesus used this illustration with His disciples to emphasize that though they would grieve His soon departure, that grief would turn to joy when they saw Him again (VV. 20-22).Jesus was referring to His death and resurrection-and what followed. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He did not leave His friends grief-stricken. He sent the Holy Spirit, who would fill them with joy JOHN16:7-15; ACTS 13:52).When someday we see Jesus face-to-face, the anguish we experience on this earth will be forgotten. But until then, the Lord has not left us without joy-He has given us His Spirit (ROMANS 15:13; 1 PETER 1:8-9)

Hi! And welcome back to confident Christian WomenI'm Michelle Bowman, and we expose lies that Christian women believe. And we stand on what the Word of God says about our identity, and who we are as children of God.All right. So, if you haven't read my book, "Woman, Where Is Your Confidence?". You need to. You can get it on Amazon here https://a.co/d/djCNTob

But I want to read something to you. This in the back. There are daily Scripture affirmations. No, we don't look at the Word of God as magical, or you say these words, and this is going to happen. No, that's not how we approach our walk with Christ. But there are certain things that we can know that are truth and that are real in our lives, and we can stand on. Here is the first one.And I want you to remember this. Okay, this is the affirmation for this week in Philippians 4:6- 8. It talks about peace. we have peace that passes understanding. It surpasses all understanding, anything that we are thinking about.Okay, I can be peaceful. I can have peace right now, even in the middle of the storm I can have peace. When the disciples were on the boat, and Jesus was asleep, and a storm came. And they said, "Master, don't you care? Look! Look! What's going on? Have you ever felt that way about things in your life? Maybe you're going through something right now. and you're like, Lord, don't you care about me? Don't you see what's going on? You may be going through the most horrific thing in your you ever have. You might be reliving something, because every time this year. around this time of year. all the time it's something that you remember that happened.Or maybe you get nervous about the holidays, and you start being fearful. Maybe you dread seeing family during the holidays. I recently heard someone tell their wife. "Our church family is way better than our blood family". I know that that can be true. and it doesn't matter how holy people are sometimes our blood family can be interesting. but we love them, and we want to pray for them, right? If you are being fearful or apprehensive about the holidays, about visiting with family, about all the things that are coming up. Maybe you have family events, and maybe there's that one family member. Maybe it's an aunt or an uncle or a cousin. somebody in your family that just gives you anxiety. Maybe they're maybe they're just rude. Maybe they just think they can say whatever they want. Maybe they make comments about your body, about your face, about you know something about your appearance, maybe about your clothes, maybe about your job. They're always giving you advice that you have not asked for and that just brings you so much anxiety. Well, I want to remind you that Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

Hi and welcome back to confident Christian Women. I'm Michele Bowman, and around here we expose lies that most women believe. and we share the truth from God's Word about who we are and who we are in Him.

We don't have to believe those lies, and we don't have tochase those things that the world says we do.

So first of all, I'm not perfect. Second, if you're looking for the perfect fancy recording studio. You're in the wrong place. I live in a tiny home and an Rv. Full time.

Neither of those places I can have total silence. Youmay hear the buzzing of my refrigerator in the background. You might hear a car driving by.

And that's okay. This is real life. You would hear that if we were here talking and having coffee. Yes, I am drinking some coffee, and my favorite right now is New England Blueberry. you can order it here https://a.co/d/ddNB2to

Enough of that. Let's talk about November. It's November, and what is the first thing that comes to yourmind during the month of November, especially if you live in the United States?Okay, if you live in America. Most likely there is something that you think of the first day of November.

Gratitude, because we talk about gratitude all month long here.So many people start posting it on social media. Gratitude for this, thankful for that, because we celebrate Thanksgiving. Right? Are we truly grateful in all things? We need to be grateful and give thanks. Right? That's the will of God for us in Christ Jesus is to give thanksin all circumstances, and sometimes circumstances are rough.

Just think of the things that you do have. Be totallygrateful.

On this episode we talk about lies we can believe and act on during the holidays.

Let's let go of those lies and walk in True Confidence in Christ!

And welcome back to confident Christian women. I'm Michelle Bowman, and I want to encourage you today.• Alright! So one of the biggest things that holds us back• in walking, in confidence. Do you know what it is?• It's fear, alright. Fear will cause you to• worry about what other people think fear will cause you to worry about• how you look. what you're wearing. what other people think of you.• and it can cause you to not do what God has called you to do. So I want to encourage you. One of the biggest things I want to encourage you is to• memorize second Timothy 1 7. It's one of my favorite Scriptures.• God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a power and love and a sound mind. and that's what you need to remember. Fear does not come from God when it, when it is fear that makes you feel inadequate.• That is not of God.• because I will tell you this. You are inadequate. I'm inadequate unless we have our confidence fully in Christ, and what He's doing through us.So you have to be diligent. all right, and you have to be paying attention all the time to the ways that you're thinking, the ways that you're reacting to what you're doing what you're wearing.• how you're speaking don't hold back• because you're afraid of what others will think. Don't hold back because of other people's opinions. The biggest weight you will ever lose is the opinions of others.• When you realize the most important opinion is what God thinks. and stop letting other people's opinions. Social media's opinions• hold, hold you back. When you stop allowing that to happen. you will have victory. You will feel so much freedom• because you'll realize you are one of a kind, unique creation.• You don't have to be exactly like anyone else. Your way of speaking, your way of teaching, your way of dressing and looking, and all those things• you don't have to be like anyone else. You are unique. You are one of a kind. God has given you talents to help other people. He's given you a message, and you need to speak it with boldness. Stop being afraidAll right. That is my encouragement for today. So don't forget. Don't allow fear to intimidate you. Fear is a liar. Second, Timothy, 1, 7. God has not given you the spirit of fear, but a power and love and a sound mind.• God bless you, and have an amazing day.

Even if you are not married this episode is for you! We talk about more than marriage. I had such a wonderful time talking with Michelle Harrell the founder of Glorious Marriage Revolution.

"Women of all ages want hope that their marriage can be glorious, and that they can live a victorious life. They need to know that they are not alone in their mistakes, their fears and their doubts. Most women, even those raised in church, have never been taught how to fight the real enemy. We make our husbands the enemy. We even make family and friends the enemy. However, the Bible tells us we do not fight against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). We must learn to fight, using the whole armor of God, and do battle with the real enemy. Then and only then will there be generations of women who know how to fight for their marriages and take back what the enemy has stolen."- Michelle Harrell

Are you a caregiver for someone? Do you ever get overwhelmed? You will want to listen to this week's podcast. My friend Suzette Katopodes was our special guest this week.

Suzette is a wife of 34 yrs., mom of four, sister, Grandma Suzie to six, and family caregiver. Looking back on her life, you might even say she is a serial caregiver, as she has cared for multiple family members over the years.

She believes her purpose is to encourage and inform other family caregivers–past, present, and future. The truth is, if you haven’t been a caregiver yet, you will likely be one or need one someday. And she wants to make the caregiving life just a little bit easier for others.

Her caregiving history

● Dad: She helped care for her dad through a series of illnesses–heart disease, cancer, and COPD.

● Mom: Mom, who is aging gracefully and with dignity, is 93. She suffered from a heart attack, bouts of congestive heart failure, and edema. All while caring for her sister, Michelle, who had down syndrome. (She is an inspiring example.)

● Michelle: While mom had a months-long stint of illness and repeat stays in rehab, her sister came to live with her and her husband. They had one son left at home, and they were both working full-time. When mom’s rehab was complete, they suggested Michelle stay with them.

It wasn’t long after that they started noticing changes in Michelle, and after a bit of research, they learned that people with Down Syndrome would get Alzheimer’s Disease up to 50% more than people without Downs. Over the next few months, their suspicions were confirmed, her sister, sweet Michelle had Alzheimer’s Disease, which slowly took over her brain and their lives.

They cared for Michelle for five years until God called her home in January 2023.

Stephanie Light grew up in the entertainment industry of Southern California during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s; as a child she was involved in dance, tumbling, martial arts, music….and was used as a child psychic.   Stephanie was elated when her family moved to Montana in the early 1990’s where life calmed down for a few years. After High School Stephanie embarked on a busy and anxiety filled life filled with education studying everything from forensic pathology and Latin, to finally settling on a literature degree.   Her main career focus was the dance, tumbling, martial arts, and performance industry, however dark forces had other plans for this unsaved woman by manipulating her bleeding unsaved heart. She found herself back in San Diego as a young adult and re-established her career as a professional choreographer and member of the entertainment industry, aka Hollywood.  Between choreographing for dope filled events and working freelance undercover her mind was warped. By 2000, however, she had moved back to Montana which was a saving grace. For the next twenty years Stephanie was pulled into many powerful circles and utilized once again as a psychic.   She went on to publish New Age books, including a spell book, and wrote (as well as taught) several workshops for high profile scientists in the Meta Physical Science world.  In 2017 the Lord brought her to her knees with severe health issues to the brink of dying.   By Thanksgiving Day of 2018 Stephanie was on her knees again begging for forgiveness from her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  This conviction has led her to create a YouTube page to share her journey and hopefully reach anyone caught up in the New Age, or has a loved one caught up in the New Age movementBe sure and subscribe to her YouTube Channel and follow her on Instagram @spiritualwhiplash

The root of Insecurity is pride

Doubting God and all He has called you to be is a form of pride.

Are you fulfilling everything God has called you to do?

What if you believed God and lived your life in a way that you did not hold back because of your insecurity and pride?

“STICKS & STONES will break my bones, but Words will never hurt me.” Calling that saying garbage!

“Words can inspire. And words can destroy. Choose yours well.”

Has anyone ever said something about your body that was critical?

Maybe they thought they were only joking or just having “fun” with you right?

Let’s make sure we let everyone know it’s not fun and can do a lot of damage for years.

I can still remember negative things people said about my body from 40 years ago as a teenager. Crazy huh? Be sure and listen to this episode to start speaking the right things and let go of lies. www.confidentinchrist.org

Warning! Social Media can steal your joy and Identity in Christ.

Who remembers MySpace? That was my first social media experience. It was alright. But then Facebook came along. It looked like a fun way to stay connected with friends and family in other places.

It also seemed like a great way to share Jesus and be a light. Jesus told us we are light in this dark world. Be sure and listen to some of my personal confessions and see if you have ever done any of these same things on social media.

Whether you are a believer in Christ or not it is inevitable that you will have a life filled with ups and downs.   Jesus warned His disciples they would have troubles in this world.   In John 16:33 Jesus said, " These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."   My husband Rick and I just recently went through a trial that was one of those "even if" moments that is now another testimony of God's love and care for us.   We can be confident that God truly does know the ultimate best for us.   I will be honest there were days that I had my mindset right and I felt like a princess warrior heading to battle slaying every negative thought with The Word of God.  There were also days that I let all the "what if" scenarios run through my head.  I didn't like those days at all. I would love to hear of a time when you had to exercise "Even If" Faith.  Be sure and connect with me on Instagram at www.instagram.com/michele_bowman07  and send me a message to share with me.  Full Show notes can be found at Podcast | Confidence in Christ (bowmanlife.net)

Have you ever held back from shining bright as the woman God has called you to be? I will confess. I am guilty. Now don't get me wrong I have never denied Jesus in front of others. But I have held back being who I am in Christ because of others.

You will meet people that will think you think your better than them because you are a believer in Christ. They won't even take time to get to know you before they make a decision they don't like you. Some people won't like you no matter how nice you are to them.

Some people want nothing to do with Jesus Christ. Here's the truth. They need Him even if they don't know it.

You know what He has done for you right? I want you to think about how He has changed your life. I know you want that for everyone you meet.

You may be tempted to dim your the light when you are around certain people. It may even happen when you are around other believers who are struggling. Be sure and listen to today’s episode for my 4 best tips for shining bright and not allowing others to sun your light. To read full show notes go to https://www.bowmanlife.net/blog

My grandma used to say “No news is good news.” It makes me smile when I think of her saying that.

She actually had a good point. The past few years have been different than anything I could ever of thought up in my mind. It’s like watching a “B” movie accept it actually happened.

There are so many ways we can get the news of what’s going on in our local area, the country we live in, and the world. We can turn on several 24 hour news channels. We can have it sent to our email. We can have an app on our phone. We can scroll social media and one of our friends will probably share what’s going on. Some people still get a newspaper for their news updates.

But with so many conflicting reports it can all be overwhelming and cause division with knowing what is really going on. We don’t know who to believe. Be sure and listen to “Good News”. Or to read full show notes go here https://www.bowmanlife.net/post/no-news-is-good-news-or-is-it

But I am not Qualified! I am not a good speaker. I don't know the right things to say. What if I make a mistake? What if someone laughs at me? Have you ever said any of these statements out loud? Have you ever had any of these thoughts?

To be honest I have had these thoughts many times since becoming a follower of Christ. It's normal to think and feel this way every time you feel God leading you to do something new. Most of the time we think we have to do it in our own power. We forget that God uses those who are willing vessels for Him to speak through. He is more concerned with our availability than He is OUR ability.

The bible is filled with average men and women just like you and I that God used for His message and work to be done on earth. Be sure we are connected on Instagram. Arrica Hess is a follower of Jesus, church planting wife, and homeschooling mom of four. She and her husband Matt have been married for 18 years. They are childhood sweethearts and they have been living in Canada for the past nine years planting churches on the east side of Toronto. Her passion is discipling women, especially other moms. She writes at https://achildshallleadthemblog.com and prays she can help other Mamas find joy in their motherhood, while serving their Savior. When she isn't busy with her family, church, or writing she enjoys reading, gardening, and cooking.

“A lot of my confidence came from familiar. You know you go to the grocery store and you see the same things on the shelves and you buy what you need and you're used to the price. You have family around and most people grow up in the same culture. I'm from the south so most people think the same way as it tends to be more of a conservative area. The move into Canada was a bit of a culture shock for me, especially Toronto since I grew up in the country on a farm. I remember the first time I went to the grocery store I came home with one thing and I was bawling. My husband went to the grocery store for the first two months we were here. I think for me it was just really a lot of my confidence had been based in familiar and me knowing things. I was relying too much on self. I learned I had to completely trust God.” Arrica. Are you living a FOMO life or a JOMO life? If you are not familiar with these expressions, I will give an explanation.

FOMO is an acronym for fear of missing out. JOMO is the opposite and stands for JOY of missing out.

I want you to think about a decision you have made because of FOMO.

You might be saying you can’t think of any. Let me refresh your memory.

Today's guest is Melissa Robinson, and I am so excited for her to share her story of how she went from false confidence to true confidence in Christ, Melissa is a military spouse of 21 years, mom of two boys, and a homemaker. Can you share a time when you did not walk in godly confidence and how it affected your life? Melissa: I can do that. My whole life really. I wouldn't say I was someone with much confidence at all, let alone godly confidence. I didn't come to truly know the Lord until my late 20s. It wasn't until my mid to late 30s that I found my confidence in the Lord, so I was always an insecure person. I measured myself to the world and the world's impression of me was a gauge in which I found a false identity. My identity was rooted in my appearance. As I grew up I had aspired to be a model because I was always told I was pretty. I don't remember any other aspects of my life which I was encouraged to be anything besides and attractive girl. When that's your only aspiration in the world it's never enough. It was never fulfilling so I was always pursuing more ways to find fulfillment and using my appearance in order to gain the acceptance that I was lacking. In more recent years there was this one day I had a lightbulb moment, like “Melissa when your beauty fades what are you left with?” For the Full Show Notes go here "When Beauty Fades, What Are You Left With? Iris and I met online in 2014 and connected as sisters in Christ right away. Iris is a wife to her high school sweetheart Mike. They have two children and Iris home schools along with their furry friend named Mocha who never leaves her side. As a health coach Iris is passionate about helping women feel great again. When Iris first started coaching there was an unexpected plot twist that changed everything. Welcome iris and thank you for showing up to share your story. Michele: Can you share with us that challenge, you went through the past few years, and how it affected your confidence? Iris: I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer and that's the diagnosis none of us want to receive. It comes with a lot of uncertainty. I'm not going to lie that definitely affected my confidence, knowing what I was about to go through. As most of you know chemotherapy causes you to lose your hair. Also, along with all the steroids, there was weight gain, and a mastectomy looming in my future along with medically induced menopause. That all affected my confidence, how I looked at myself, and how I thought I was going to see myself in the mirror forever. Michele: I can’t imagine what that would be like going through that and just all the uncertainty.  The hard part is just wondering about the what if’s.

She is my bestest bestie of all time. If you know me, you know who she is if you've been around me long enough hanging out with me online you've seen us, but if not I'm going to introduce you to her. We have been friends for over 40 years. The cool part about our friendship is we have lived away from each other, which is the majority of our lives. We met in High school and became friends. We were friends for a year and a half. After high school we both moved away, one of us moved to Wisconsin the other one to California and God brought us back together about a year and a half later. We wrote letters to each other. The amazing and awesome part was that we both were serving Jesus, at the same time. That was what was really cool because we weren’t serving Him in high school. We won't go there, but praise God there was no social media back then. Throughout the years we were able to stay in touch, even though we've always lived apart in different states. We talk on the phone, text, Facebook message, and all those kinds of things. I really want to encourage you to build relationships with your best friend or with somebody that is like a sister to you. It can be done. We share our secrets, the sad things, and the happy things. You know the things we need people to pray for that maybe we don't want everyone on Facebook to know about. We text each other or call and say, please pray for my child, grandchild, or whatever it is that we're dealing with in our lives. My friend Ann Rakestraw is a wife, mom, and Gigi. But Ann is also a mighty woman of God. That is why I had her come on the show. Not just because she's my bestie, but because she has been faithful through so many times in her life where things were just turned upside down. She's going to share with us when she didn't have godly confidence and how it affected her. Full show notes here Sisters for Life (bowmanlife.net)

Who loves the idea of the perfect Hallmark town? I love the idea of the small town where everyone knows everyone and the meeting place is the diner with lots of coffee flowing. Where are my coffee lovers? Now let’s ramp it up with some Christmas Spirit.

Cue the beautiful twinkling lights hung perfectly on every shop.

There is magnificent garland and red bowed wreaths with a warm welcome at every door.

Next we see the horse drawn carriage that looks like Cinderella’s coach all lit up and filled with riders who are laughing and don’t seem to have a care in the world.

On the outside this town looks ”perfect”.

There are towns that look like this in America.

Hint: There are no perfect towns or people

We will expose lies that women have believed and talk about real life serving Jesus Christ. We will talk about finding our identity in Christ and walking with confidence in Him.

Hi and welcome to the ”Woman, Where Is Your Confidence?” podcast.

My name is Michele Bowman, your host and woman of God exposing lies women believe and empowering you with God’s Truth.

On this first episode I want to introduce myself and explain why I am so passionate about this message.

I am a wife to Rick. We have five grown children and ten grandchildren.

But most importantly I am a child of God. What does that mean? It means I have accepted salvation through what Jesus did on the cross for my sins. I am now in the family of God.

As women we are bombarded our whole lives with lies from people we never meet.

Yet we believe these lies.

We see the world‘s standard of beauty, success, and acceptance and are told this is how we should look, live, and act.

At fifty-five years old I have believed many of those lies throughout the years. We don’t have to get a false confidence from the opinions of others.

We can find freedom and walk in godly confidence.
