In this episode, Spouse-ly CEO and Founder Monica Fullerton chats with Scott Lippert, the Executive Vice President of Payment Services Operations at U.S. Bank. Scott Lippert is responsible for Customer Experience and Operations for Credit and Debit Cards, Elavon Merchant Acquisition, Corporate Payments, and Treasury Services. These operations include front, middle, and back-office functions in the U.S. and Europe.
Prior to joining U.S. Bank in 2020, Lippert worked at USAA for five years, serving as Chief Administration Officer and Head of Shared Services, as well as Chief Strategy Officer for USAA Bank. Lippert also worked as an Associate Partner for McKinsey & Company and as a Submarine Officer in the U.S. Navy.
Lippert holds a Master's in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and a business bachelor's from Virginia Tech. He also serves on the Board of Directors for McCormick Research Institute, whose mission is to serve veterans and individuals with special needs through equine-assisted therapy.

Lost River Lavender began in 2017 when we were stationed at Beale AFB in Northern California. We bought a home on 5 acres where I began my dream of growing lavender. My husband knew more about lavender than I did since he worked on a lavender farm while attending school in Northern Utah and in the ROTC program. We have since moved on to another base, took what plants we could with us, and sent the rest to Idaho, where they encountered a fair amount of snow. Most of my lavender transplants have survived all the moves. Lavender is a resilient and tough plant, just like military spouses. All our products are made by hand and all-natural. We do not use any pesticides or herbicides.

After graduating high school, she moved to south Florida to chase her dreams of becoming the next Oprah. (A dream we both share.) She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Journalism Communication and a Master’s Degree in Business Specializing in Marketing in five years. She loved living in Florida and was going to stay there forever.
Monica and her current husband had stayed friends during college. He had gone to school in Denver, Colorado, and was commissioned to the Air Force after ROTC in college. But, feelings we still very much there, and the two married and have been together since.
During the transition as a military spouse, Monica found a job she loved, but once she had the twins (who are turning six soon), she knew she wanted to make some changes.

While earning a degree in social work, Anne pours her heart and energy into developing her career as a professional artist. Her life goal, which she is actively working towards and making a reality with each painting and product sold, is to create a creative therapy program for military service members and their families. The program will address the mental health system of the military community, and it is geared toward offering military-affiliated individuals a space to talk about their mental health — an under-addressed issue in the military community.
After a challenging, almost life-threatening experience, she found a way to advocate for herself while seeking mental health care. She was in crisis and dealing with reintegration after her spouse was gone for a year. That’s when she discovered the system was not working for military spouses and those dealing with mental health issues. The situation lit a fire in her to take action. Her experience led her to seek her graduate degree in social work and combine art as a healing experience for those going through.

We watch from afar, yet stand by their side
Appearing so strong, while the tears shed inside
Their faces are firm with resolute stares
As the sound of taps hangs in the air
Unwavering hands fold the flag with respect
There’s no room for error, it’s always perfect
In a moment of honor, the flag is passed on
With a life that has ended, but never truly gone

After attending a child’s virtual birthday party, the realization that the children could not celebrate together set off an idea to create a way for each child to celebrate together while still being virtual.
The pans are perfectly sized with all you need to make a 4-inch round cake. You just add eggs, butter, and milk. Each party host can order a cake kit for their guests. Each guest will have their own cake and can decorate it together as an activity.

As a veteran military spouse, Colleen knows the struggles our military children go through. As a former school psychologist, she used her education and knowledge to create a way for children to receive a good night's sleep. Magical Order of the Brave Knights was born out of a need she experienced with her own son when her husband was away and her son was struggling with sleep.
The book comes with Sir William the Brave Knight, an adorable teddy bear, and a flashlight. “Every night children give up their worries and Sir William stays up to guard their room,” Colleen says. “The flashlight has eight different images to help clear the room.” This empowers the children to face their fears. This is a great way for children to have the freedom to express their fears and worries.
While the story was just a personal one, it became more when her spouse suggested she share it. She hadn’t been an entrepreneur before, so she wasn’t sure she could do it. Even though she discredited her ability at first, she finally decided she could do it.

While Holly and her husband were stationed in Germany, she met Cherie. They realized being military spouses wasn’t the only thing they had in common. They both have a love for travel and ceramics, primarily from Italy.
Holly is Italian, and her family took many trips to Italy throughout her childhood. She explained that there are so many different regions of Italy. Her family is from northern Italy, and many of the patterns on the Lo Bello Ceramics website represent her heritage. Cherie and Holly are beginning to create their own designs and patterns.
They tried to get their orders in quicker, but Covid interfered. If you want something customized, they can do it. Just plan for a possible longer shipping time.

Now, she is the CEO of MilSO Box and loves it! She also helps Lindsey with her other business, Gifting with Valor. A corporate gift-giving company.
For Kristin, putting the MilSO Boxes together brings joy. She loves curating the boxes for receivers. In addition, she enjoys sourcing her box with other Spouse-ly vendors.

What if I told you, you could turn the impossible into I’Mpossible? Hi everyone, I’m Monica Fullerton and that’s exactly what I’ve seen happen over the past couple of years as the CEO of Spouse-ly. As a military spouse myself and mom of twins, I saw that there was a real need for military spouses to be able to have a flexible, stable career no matter where the military life takes us! I noticed the amazing number of creators, makers, and entrepreneurs that exist within the military community. The problem was - there just wasn’t one central location to shop and support their accomplishments. And since I’m a firm believer that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it, I created a platform where military spouses, family members, veterans, and first responders can sell their products and services. And this is how Spouse-ly was born. Since launching in January of 2020, we have grown from 30 vendors to over 400 vendors, And we are still growing! Which I believe shows how possible it is to follow your heart. Plus, I really wanted to create a place to hear the remarkable stories of our vendors. And brag about them a little! Once a week we will be introducing a vendor to you who will be interviewed by host, Caroline Schafer. Caroline has been a military spouse for almost 20 years and just launched her own business in February of this year! She is a voice actor, actor, podcast producer, and freelance writer. It’s a well-known secret that she wants to be the fairy godmother at a certain magical theme park one day! Now let's meet the military spouse who will help make sure we have guests and someone who will sometimes join as a host is Britni Miltner. You might know Britni from a podcast called Milspouse Coffee House. Britni has been a Navy spouse since 2007, a remote employee since 2008, and is considered to be a seasoned “people connector”. Britni has several years of experience in multiple military spouse support groups serving in various roles including Armed Forces Insurance’s Military Spouse of the Year.
