We caught up with Tigh Compton head coach at Pikeville University and it was before season. Now as the season starts and at the time of posting this they have gotten off to a blistering 5-0 start. Pikeville has won a national title while Tigh Compton was on the staff and he tells us the story of how that historic year went and what it was like being part of a national championship.
He talks about his journey from the Virginia coalfields to Pikeville and what has made Pikeville such a special home for him and his family! Of course we talk a lot of basketball and have some good laughs along the way.

Recently off a lengthy stint at WVU Tech in Montgomery, WV he made his way over to Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. One of my favorite untold stories is the Battle of Blair Mountain that took place in 1921 that helped get the ball moving to unionize the coal miners in the coalfields in Southern West Viriginia. Chuck Keeney is so educated on this subject he wrote a book about how it has been surpressed from people learning about it.
