Unity is a rare thing. It is so beautiful in the Lord’s eyes, that it actually commands a blessing (Psalm 133). Peter tells us “above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.” There is a depth of fellowship and community the Church can only experience when they choose to love deeply. It is a picture of our triune God—the heavenly unity shared by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As we close out this series, “Into the Deep,” we will come full circle with our response to God’s deep love being a connection with each other.

Gratitude is a word on everyone’s lips these days, but the test of true gratitude shows up in a response like “giving.” This Sunday, in our series “Loving God,” we are getting down to one of the roots of our love: giving generously. Nothing says commitment like putting your money where your mouth is, and God actually helps us discover this. “Oh, I’m not religious—I’m spiritual.” In our True or False Series, we will look at the "new" spirituality all around us. Actually it isn’t that new. New Age Mysticism popped up in the 60’s but it is as old as ancient occult practices. Christians don’t always recognize the subtle lies filling the airwaves, at times falling prey to ideas or practices that use words like “love, spirituality and oneness.” After all, don’t we use those words? Whose truth wins? After all, what is true for you may not be true for me. Sound familiar? In our Gateway series, "True or False,” we are taking a hard look at our postmodern society’s beliefs. This week we are challenging moral relativism that says, “I am the only one who can determine my truth, and don’t force your truth on me.” Well, it is true that none of us likes to be told what to do (just ask a 3-year old), but moral absolutes exist whether we believe them or not. This message can set you free and wake you up…and that’s a good thing!

We are already in a holiday mood at Gateway Clovis! That means we’re gonna mix up our routine and definitely add more treats. One of the "spiritually edible treats" you will receive is a feast of sermons. We have 5 excited preachers who are each going to give you a tasty 7 minute nugget to chew on. Each of them have accepted their mission impossible assignment, and just in case, we have a timer to keep them on track. This is going to be a good one. By the way, we are focusing on relationships, so it’s a great time for all of you to join us!
Jesus’ followers have a very unique outlook on life. If you asked the average person, “what is the most important thing in your life,” you would probably hear everything from: my kids, my career, saving the planet or finding a husband. People who truly love Jesus want a lot of the same things, but understand unless God comes first, things don’t always work out like we’ve planned. One the other hand, when God comes first, things have a way of working out right—even when life gets hard. We begin our new series, “God First,” at GWCC Clovis. This series is going to inspire you to get your lives into healthy alignment and fulfill the calling God has for each of us.
Family is good thing to have when you need some backup, and that’s why our GW family likes to say “we can do this together.” We all came away from last week’s IL Conference declaring a new battle cry: “Lives Changed By Jesus.” This Sunday we are going to continue the discussion on how to be a Positive Influence. It is time to burn those old scripts and re-imagine how God can use each one of us in new and positive ways to reach those who don’t know Him yet.
Have you ever felt cornered by a salesperson who just wouldn’t let you go? Sometimes that is intimidating, but it can also make us down right angry! Has anyone ever tried to introduce you to Jesus the same way? We all want to share the good news, but people are not interested in some sales technique. They might appreciate a travel guide who can point them in the right direction when they ask, though. We are going to get some great “pointers.”
Do you ever feel like you could use a little more help? It is time to re-discover the best helper you and I will ever have—the amazing Holy Spirit. Sometimes we try to figure out how we can share the Gospel or love people better, forgetting that we have a helper who knows just what to do in every situation. The Holy Spirit is your guide and helper on our journey toward Positive Influence. This message reminds us that we are not alone—we have a helper!
Some of you might remember the famous 2008 Beijing Olympic 4x100 meter relay race, where a mishap with the passing of the baton - just a split second - cost the Americans the race and the medal.
After that race, a lot of team training was focused on receiving the baton, as well as, the actual running. At Gateway Clovis, we believe God is calling us to run our race with skill and effort. A baton is being passed...but will we choose to reach out and BLESS our community? Don't miss this message, when you will be inspired because, this is "Our Time To Run!"
Everybody has a story, but when it testifies of Jesus, it has the power to change another person’s life. We are going to learn the power of testimony from Pastor Steve, along with a heart-wrenching turnaround testimony from our own Annie.
Jesus did some pretty strange things. He constantly shook up the norms, showing people a different way to be or become. It is time to go low, go last and go love, and it is going to be awesome!
Eating Together "Eating together is powerful" is the theme of our Gateway Clovis message. It is part of a recipe for reaching others with the true love of Christ. In our series, "Make Room," we are learning how to be a blessing, and who doesn't like food? Please! Jesus had an unusual habit of inviting Himself over for dinner, but then amazing things began to take place. It isn't just about food, but it is a good place to start.
There are a lot of loud voices out there, but who is actually listening? We are going against the flow, discovering how to “listen for a change.” Isn’t it nice when someone tells you “have a blessed day?” Well, all of us can be a blessing every day—we just need to listen for Holy Spirit instructions.
Which would you rather have during a hot summer? A cup of water or an endless well? Most people just want to be happy, but Jesus said he wants much more for us. A lot of people are afraid of God. Have you ever thought He was out to get you, or that He could care less about you? It may be that we don’t understand God’s emotions, and that makes it easy to believe lies about who He is and what He feels toward us. This week we are going to talk truth about Father God.
People jokingly say “who’s your daddy,” but in our new Gateway series, “Sons and Daughters,” we ask it for real. This week we address the question, “Who is the Father and Why is He Important?” It can be hard for people to relate to a Heavenly Father if their earthly relationship is lacking, but God is willing and able to heal our hearts, opening the door to deeper relationship with Him.
