Police training videos of officers during traffic stops are often graphic. They usually depict officers being killed or injured. But, do police training videos make police officers hyper-aggressive when they pull over drivers, or is it a necessary training device to prevent officer hesitation and promote officer safety? We discuss the well know Dinkheller training video and detail how there may be a biased use of force implemented when the drivers are people of color.
Update: Grand Rapids Michigan police officer Christopher Schurr has been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of Patrick Lyoya.

On April 20, 2022, the charter bus transporting the Delaware State University women’s lacrosse team was pulled over by Georgia’s Liberty County Sherriff’s Department for a left lane violation. Apparently, the bus was traveling in the far left lane where large trucks are prohibited.
This soon escalated into accusations of drug possession, half a dozen police officers searching their luggage for drugs, and a K-9 unit with a drug-sniffing dog.
The predominantly Black Lacrosse players were traumatized. Some are calling this search racial profiling.

Patrick Lyoya was a 26-year-old refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo whose life ended tragically on April 4th, 2022 during a traffic stop. He was shot in the back of the head by Grand Rapids Michigan police officer Christopher Schurr after a short foot chase and a scuffle.
