Jeff Manabat is the longest-serving active member and music director of the drag a cappella group The Kinsey Sicks, America's Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet. The group has served up a feast of music and comedy – and a healthy dose of political activism – to audiences at performing arts centers, music venues, and comedy festivals throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia.
His performance record with the group also includes an extended run in Las Vegas; critically-acclaimed shows at the world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe; 2 features (the satirical musical I Wanna Be a Republican and the documentary Almost Infamous); 3 concert DVDs (Electile Dysfunction, Things You Shouldn’t Say, and America’s Next Top Bachelor Housewife Celebrity Hoarder Makeover Star Gone Wild!); and 7 albums, including the group’s latest, QUARANTUNES, which was inspired by the many historic events of 2020, and recorded entirely in each of the members’ homes while social distancing thousands of miles apart. In addition to being the group’s music director, he has composed dozens of their 4-part vocal arrangements and has helped design many of their colorful costumes.
In addition to his work with The Kinsey Sicks, Jeff continues to perform for stage and screen. He was the English-language voice of “Goldiva” in Netflix’s Super Drags – the world's first superhero drag queen cartoon – alongside drag legends Shangela, Willam, Trixie Mattel, and Ginger Minj, and he also sang the show's theme song. One of his favorite appearances on stage in LA was at Robey Theater Company’s Ovation Award-nominated play Bronzeville, which followed an African-American family’s efforts to hide an Asian-American man during the infamous internment of American citizens of Japanese descent during World War II. The extended run at the Los Angeles Theater Center was followed up with performances at Manzanar, one of the historic sites of the internment, and an encore run at LATC just a few years later.
