There is a current disconnect in our educational system. We need to transform schools into vibrant places for learning that unleash student creativity and open new pathways to innovation. Many schools are embracing an integrated approach and infusing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) into their programming. Young people are naturally curious. Let's tap into that motivation and provide our students with opportunities to engage in hands-on, meaningful learning!

When thinking about creation projects we tend to forget about the audience and who the project is for. When students move from creating projects for teachers to creating projects for their class, school, or even the world the product you get will be different. The projects move from adequate or “Good Enough” to extraordinary when you switch the focus of the audience (Tucker and Novak, 2022, p. 108). Students care less about the grade and more about the process. In this episode, we will discuss ways for you to shift the audience to empower students, increase engagement, and motivate students to go above and beyond.

When we build relationships with students we give students the strength they need to be successful. Positive relationships with teachers and school staff can dramatically enhance students’ level of motivation and therefore promote learning. Students who have access to more strong relationships are more academically engaged, have stronger social skills, and experience more positive behavior. Using technology can help foster some of those relationships and give you a place to start.
