When I was a kid growing up in suburban Toronto there were air raid sirens all over the place and they sounded off quite often. We were scared by them, and the constant promptings from teachers and other adults to be ready to "Duck and Cover if we saw a big flash. Yertle, the cartoon turtle, told us to hide under our desks, and cover ourselves with wet newspapers. There were plenty of scary movies on television too like Fail Safe, and On The Beach. Lots of giant monsters resulted from nuclear blasts in movies like huge ants, spiders, grasshoppers, and of course Godzilla, often shown during afternoon matinee presentations.
Recent events between East and West remind me of that troublesome time and so that is what tonight's Ranger Dave Show is all about, and it is entitled GRAY HATS ONLY.
With just a few shows left before going on assignment I thought I might present a funny show....well in that smarmy millennial, reductionist, deconstructionist, and ironically sarcastic style. That aside, the music is sorta funny in a full moon kinda way.

This is the final installment of The Peter Green Series. The most recent recordings we have of Peter Green were done with The Splinter Group. Some of the music performed were covers of Peter's earlier compositions, but other pieces were new and displayed his great song-writing capabilities still very much intact.
Tonight at seven Ranger Dave presents part four of his tribute to Peter Green, who sadly passed away last week. We play his music recorded after his ill-fated experience at a party in Germany. Members of Fleetwood Mac spoke of this infamous LSD party at the Highfisch-Kommune in Munich. Band manager Clifford Davis claimed that this was the night that Peter Green and Danny Kirwan became ‘seriously mentally ill.’ But Peter Green said, ‘I had a good play there, it was great.’
Others who witnessed the event said however that Danny and Peter both looked "strokey" and strange as they played.
The music on tonight's show picks up after that event when Peter had left Fleetwood Mac and created his own combo. The subsequent album entitled "End of The Game" is something completely different from what he had previously done, a wailing, and ground-breaking piece of brilliance...a definite forerunner of jazz-rock fusion way ahead of its time. We will feature this entire album and then follow it with some of his later solo work.
