In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Electro is pulled through the multiverse due to a corrupted spell cast by Doctor Strange. The spell's purpose was to make everyone forget Peter Parker's identity as Spider-Man, but it instead summoned people from other universes who know Spider-Man's secret.
The movie originally featured Spider-Man hunted by Kraven, which became a backup in case the studio could not get the necessary actors for the Multiverse version.The original script featured Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy, both versions of Aunt May played by Rosemary Harris and Sally Field, and the original J. Jonah Jameson played by J.K. Simmons.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” could become the first and only film released in 2021 to surpass $1 billion at the global box office. As of Tuesday, the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick topped $751.3 million in worldwide ticket sales, making it the third-highest grossing film of the year at the global box office.
Garfields series is a completely different continuity. He's a different Peter Parker from another part of the Marvel Multiverse.
At least its been retroactively assigned as such in Spiderman No Way Home. Both Maguire and Garfield feature here and confirmed that their universes are separate to each other and the MCU.
Of course, initially, Garfield's run was set up to reboot completely the Spiderman franchise in much the same way Tim Burton's Batman with Michael Keaton rebooted Adam West's campy version from the 60s and Nolan's version rebooted that. Those films are again not intended to be in the same universe but have occasionally been shown to be in a multiverse (see the recent Flash film if you can stand to watch it for confirmation). Except for Lego Batman who seems to have gone through a lot of ‘phases' in his incredibly long life…
Spider-Man: No Way Home released last year and fans haven't stopped talking about it since. With No Way Home’s digital release fans are getting to see all new content and deleted scenes from the superhit movies. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s return to the franchise was one of the most speculated topics and subject of several leaks and theories in spite of Sony and Marvel’s attempts to keep it a secret. Ever since Tobey and Andrew’s web-slingers were seen in the big screen, fans have been wanting to see more. Now an alternate ending scene of No Way Home sets up a possible return of the web-slingers in MCU.

I believe Electro was pulled into the MCU as a function of the filmmakers wanting to have another try at a villain that was poorly received in his original movie. And if I’m being honest, I'm betting that Marvel also realized that without Electro, the entire villain cast would just be a bunch of white dudes.
