Eternal viewpoint is a prayerful consideration of the Word of God. It is our desire to communicate not just the Word but also the Heart of God. We seek to approach each scripture empowered by the Holy Spirit to communicate who God is and what He desires for us and from us. We pray all who listen will be blessed and drawn closer to Almighty God.
Life it's filled with many wonderful opportunities. For those of us fortunate enough to be born in the United States of America the variety of opportunities can be overwhelming. Whether it is to get an education, to get training or you get a job there are 10s of thousands of opportunities available. Shame on us if we neglect the greatest opportunity of all.
Recently I told a Bible study group that the best thing they could do is to change their focus that they should change there it goes that they should turn off the news and put God in first place Matthew 6:33. I truly believe that if we would turn off the news and the Internet and spend that time in the Word of God that the Holy Spirit would transform our lives. Jesus Christ said my peace I give to you, not as the world gives to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
As I watch what is happening I think that the world has gone mad. As Russia bombs Ukraine causing massive damage and loss of life the world leaders are frozen in fear. Out of control inflation and disruption of supply chains are causing panic but the word of God promises for those who are faithful God will be with him refuge and strength. Psalm 91:2
Jesus Christ said He came to give us life and life more abundantly. John 10:10b In the Greek, the word for life is Zoe. The word Zoe means life in the absolute sense. In Christ, it goes further. A life that is filled to the fullest. In Christ, we have the capacity to live a life that is worth living. A life overflowing to the point that it cannot be contained. That is the kind of life that will change the world. Are we living it?
When I was training to be a pilot I had to study the weather, navigation, various functions of the aircraft and FAA regulations before I could take off. I had to master those subjects because it meant the difference between life and death. How much more we should study the word of God which is a matter of eternal life or death. Are you ready to die?
This audio is an update regarding MissionMexico and how God is opening new doors of opportunity for the gospel. Pastor Jack and Janice Driscoll, along with a small group of committed Believers, have taken a step of faith to launch a Bible-believing, Bible teaching, Christ-centered church. The Oasis is being planted with a desire to lead the Lost into a personal relationship with Christ and train up disciples to make a significant impact for the Kingdom of God.
In a race, the athletes train extensively to be the fastest that they can be. They will give up their time, they will change their diet and they will endure pain to win the race. They can do all of that but if they make the mistake of turning and looking back at their competitors they will probably lose first place. Do not spend your Christian life looking back at the past. Put your eyes on the eternal price of Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:13-14
Just as in life we all need to grow up. The apostle Paul speaks to that in Hebrews 5:13-14 We need to go beyond the milk if we are to truly experience the fullness of life. It is the same in a spiritual sense. Without a serious daily relationship with God through prayer, the Word and meditation we will never realize the amazing life God has for us. John 10:10b
We can clearly see that the general public is falling into an abyss of immorality corruption and violence. There are also signs regarding a great falling away by the church from biblical truth and Christian living. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 The apostasy of the church is a major sign Christ is at the door. It is very obvious to anyone that reads their Bible that we have come to that point. Let us not be guilty of throwing off the truth in exchange for the lies of the world.
Every person I know is in a crisis today. Some are battling severe health issues. Others are dealing with serious economic challenges. Others are struggling in their faith. This is a perfect time to respond to the invitation of Jesus Christ who says in Matthew 11:28-29 come on to me all you who labor in a heavy laden and I will give you rest take up my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lonely and heart and you will find rest for your souls.
Are we ready to follow Christ at any cost or not? When I am teaching my discipleship class I am adamant that they use the name Jesus Christ and not just the Son of God. There is something incredible about today’s culture. You can talk about God. You might even be able to talk about the Bible. But when you say Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that no one comes to God the Father but through him, John 14-6, you might end paying a price for the truth. Are you willing to take a stand on eternal truth? God will hold us accountable someday.
I do not believe that anyone can escape suffering during their lifetime. One of the main reasons for suffering is the sins of the world. Many suffer as a result of their own sins. Even Christians will suffer. Jesus said you shall have tribulation in this world. There are examples of devoted Christians that have suffered tremendously. Richard Wurmbrand, Joni Eareckson Tada, Amy Carmichael, Elizabeth Elliot, and Bruce Olsen to name a few. If you read of their lives you will see that God used their suffering in miraculous ways to reach others for Jesus Christ. We will all suffer but will we allow God to use that suffering to reach others for the Kingdom of God.
There are several places in the Bible where it shows that Christ has compassion had compassion for the people. In Matthew 20 the Bible teaches that two blind men cried out to Jesus and he had compassion on them. We, as followers of Christ, should have the heart of Christ for the Lost. We should be eager to help them to have spiritual sight so that they might choose Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Are you afraid to share your faith with others? The Bible says not to fear the faces of man. We have to be more concerned with being obedient to the call of God to be a part of the Great Commission. Acts 1:8 There are times when I don't want to share my faith with others but I am compelled to do so. The times that I don't want to often turn out to be the best times where I experience the joy of the Lord to the greatest extent possible.
God has placed on my heart the seriousness of considering the new year. Each of us needs to take time to consider what God wants for us in the new year. While 2021 was very challenging for MissionMexico and the Driscoll family, it has turned out to be one of our best years. It has been so because we have chosen to live for God. 2022 it's going to be even more challenging for all of us. But I had found out in the past, no matter how difficult it might get, if I am faithful to God he will be faithful to us. Make God you're number one New Year's resolution.
Where in the world did Christmas go? Over the last several years I have seen less and less evidence of the true meaning of Christmas. Any manger scenes in major stores, malls or public property have disappeared. Recently, I was in a store and they had hundreds of different toys for everyone you could imagine. They had hundreds of Christmas lights and balls, statues of elves and Santa Claus, and beautiful candles to put on the table. But, there was no evidence anywhere of the Christ Child
The Bible is very clear in stating that God almighty has a call for our lives. He is calling all of us to a divine purpose for our lives. He calls us to sacrifice and make the effort to be part of reaching this world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Acts 1, Jesus Christ commands his followers to go into all the world in the witnesses of Him. I believe that the Bible, the Living Word of God, calls each of us to be a part of the Great Commission. If you never listen to another devotional that I have prepared I encourage you to listen very carefully to this devotion & give your answer to God.
Over 40 years ago I took a class entitled The Hand of God behind History. The class had a significant impact on the way that I perceived situations and changed my understanding of what appeared to be reality. One example is the fact that God almighty chose to send his chosen people, the nation of Israel, into slavery in Babylon. But as a loving father that was faced with rebellious children, he dealt with them severely and so they spent 70 years in slavery. I hope that you to consider where is God in all that is going on in our world today, including your life.
One of the greatest gifts that we have from God is the freedom to choose. That is particularly true of us that live in the United States, Mexico, and other countries where democracy exists. God gives us the ability to think and consider the options that are available to us including to respond whether yes or no to the gospel. Each individual has to decide whether they receive Christ as their savior or not. Salvation is a gift from God and so one must choose to receive it to have it. The freedom to choose continues within the Christian life. We get to choose how we begin our day, what we do during our day and how we will end our day. Each day is a gift of life (Psalm118:24) from God almighty and we get to choose whether we live it for this world or for Him.
What a wonderful time of the year. For many people, Christmas is their favorite time together with family and friends and to celebrate Christmas. Here in Mexico, they have connectivity scenes almost on every corner and in every store but few understand the purpose of the birth of Jesus Christ. 95% of the Mexican people do not understand the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. How can we not tell them of the hope that we have in our hearts? Please take time to two alt to tell others the hope of Christmas, the gospel of Jesus Christ.
There is more to Jesus Christ and the Christian life than being saved from our sins. The Bible says that when a person turns from their sin and gives their life to Christ that the Holy Spirit enters into them, (1st Corinthians 6:19) and that the Holy Spirit seals them forever. Ephesians 1:13 Based on those scriptures I believe eternal life begins at that moment. That we can live a life of eternal value and experience the fruits of the Spirit. What is required is that we truly decide to follow Christ by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit in order to have those fruits as a part of our lives. But Christ said that few would choose to pick up their cross and walk the narrow path
There are over three dozen verses in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation let's speak about our God and his grace. There is logistical grace for everyone but there is greater grace available to those who belong to him. To appropriate the grace of God it is necessary to believe the Holy Scriptures. Just as God provided for the apostle Paul during his great struggles He will be there for each of us. If we truly look to God his grace will be sufficient for our situations. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Many years ago, there was a book that was famous throughout the United States. It was entitled “I found it”. The book was comprised of several famous people sharing how they had reached the pinnacle of their profession only to find out that it was a fleeting moment of personal satisfaction and recognition. Each of them testified how they had dedicated their lives to reach their personal goals but were left empty and seeking more. Each testified that the only thing worth truly pursuing was Jesus Christ. I hope you will discover Christ as the greatest prize for your life. Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have, I give to you, In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
The Bible teaches, whether we like it or not, that God is in control. Especially for Christians, God has every right to guide and direct our steps however he chooses the real issue is will we let him. There are many accounts in the Bible where God has taken a man or woman and changed their direction and their lives forevermore. Take time to read the life of Abraham Genesis 12:1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
When we first move to Mexico we did not know Spanish. Because of that we often misunderstood what was happening around us. Later, as we began to learn Spanish we would listen to a conversation and think we knew what was being said. Later we would discover we did not understand what the person was trying to communicate. That can be true for Christians who do not take the time to read the word of God. All my life I believed Exodus20:7 said Thou shall not take the Lord's name in vain. Recently, I learned there is a significant difference in the meaning in Hebrew. It is essential that we know the Word of God that we might live for God in a way that is pleasing to God.
John Huss chose death because of his incredible faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his resolve to stand for truth. Jesus Christ said in John 8:32 you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Choosing Christ can free us from a life of slow death to live a life that will count for all eternity. Mark 8:36 states what shall it profit a man if it gains the whole world but loses his soul. I would say what does it profit a Christian to gain the whole world but to lose their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
The apostle Paul scolded Believers in Hebrews chapter 6. He had been teaching them biblical truth and Bible doctrine, but they still wanted to remain as children biblically. At some point we all must go beyond Sunday school stories and take responsibility for our spiritual relationship with God almighty through serious study and prayer. The critical ingredient in our lives is an ongoing commitment to an hourly daily time in the word of God. That has paid enormous dividends.
In order to study the Word of God Janice and I gave up five years of our lives to do so. We spent five years living in the frozen tundra of western Massachusetts where the temperature often went to 40 below zero, wind chill factor. But our choice to do so is one of the greatest decisions we've ever made as a married couple. I learned the Bible in a way that just going to Sunday school would never have accomplished and three of those words that I learned transformed my relationship with God. In John 19:30 Jesus declares It is finished!
Today's devotional has some distortion in the sound due to a technical error but I'm going to post it anyway because I believe that any Christian that wants to follow Jesus Christ should listen to it. I am truly saddened at the lack of effort on the part of most churches and most Christians to share their faith with a lost and dying world. Christ said Follow me and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19
The Christian Community has been so contaminated by the world and the things that it offers that we have lost our focus. To some degree, we are all guilty of giving more attention to the world than we should. The Bible teaches us in Matthew 6:19 - 20 that our focus should be on laying up treasures in Heaven rather been seeking the toys of this world. Perhaps, we all need to focus on what God says rather than what Madison Avenue says
45 years ago, my life was a disaster. I was struggling with depression and addiction. I was in a desperate situation which finally drove me to the point that I opened the Bible and read one verse. John 5:24 That was the beginning of a process that set me free from the past and gave me a hope for my life. The process is continuing to make a significant difference in the way I think and the way I live. The incredible dividends that have been realized from a daily time of prayer and Bible study are worth whatever effort is necessary. I believe that each of us needs to make that effort and discover the life that God has for us.
We are currently discipling approximately 100 men in women in the various clinics where we minister. While they have their struggles they are free from the horrific news that we are exposed to every day. I share with them some of what's going on in the world today. I am teaching them and training them to keep their focus on Jesus Christ through the word of God empowered by the Holy Spirit. In the chaos of this world today our only hope is in Jesus Christ.
Everywhere I go people are complaining. Nobody is happy with their lives. Some are trying to maintain a positive attitude but if you talk to them long enough the negativity begins to come out in the conversation. The reality that our world is changing and not for the better but that does not have to be our perspective, our vision for our own personal lives. I am well aware of what is happening in this world, but my focus is not on the world my focus is on God almighty and living the life that he has given me to the very best of my ability. I have a life with living.

We are commanded in Acts 1:8 to go into all the world and be witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is a command from God almighty for every believer, but the vast majority of Christians refused to do what God has commanded us to do. Matthew10:32 says “Whoever denies me before men him I will also deny before my father who is in heaven”. I don't know about you, but I do not want to stand before Jesus Christ and have to admit that I would not tell others about him. If you have not in the past then begin today to share your faith in Jesus Christ with everyone that God gives you the opportunity to do so
46 years ago, God woke me up to the truth. Rather than continuing through living a lie I've decided that I was going to search after truth in the only source of eternal truth the Word of God. No matter how painful it might be I would rather hear the truth then to live in a lie. The amazing thing about the Word of God I discovered a life that is worth living. No one lives perfectly but when a person decides to live their life based upon the Bible God promises that he will be with that person until the very end. Hebrews 13:5
I have always believed in the United States of America. I grew up in the 1950s when the country stood for truth and freedom and for what was right. We were far from perfect, but we were seen as a beacon of light by countries around the world. God blessed us mightily particularly following World War Two. Then, our nation, our families and yes, to great extent, we turned away from God and followed after the riches of this world. One of the evidences is that this is true is our nation approved and now promotes abortion without even considering what God has to say on the matter. Each of us will give an answer to God for where we stand on the sin of abortion. Take time to listen to what the word of God says regarding abortion
For millions of people, they don't even want to get out of bed. I know people that will sleep 12 -15 hours a day to escape the reality of life because they do not have a personal vision for their lives. There are others that waste hundreds of hours sitting in front of a TV or a computer watching programs and videos that mean nothing. I know others there are thrilled to get out of bed and live their lives because they're living their lives for God almighty and for others. Each of us get to choose what our lives lies are all about. Choose wisely because the Bible says life is like a vapor and it will soon disappear. James 4:14
I believe that all of us that are now adults and can look back over our lives realize that we have made at least one bad decision. For many of us, it is because we had no fear of God. For many Christians, the reason we have made those bad decisions is we either did not know the Word of God or we chose to go our own way. No matter where we are in life we need to make a commitment to search the Word of God and make our decisions based upon it. It will be worth it.
I am very well aware of what is going on in the world today. I am shocked at what is happening in almost every country but especially the United States of America. Never in my entire life did I think that there would be so much violence and corruption. The level of evil in almost every area of our society, including what is known as the Christian world, is appalling. But both Janice and I have a positive attitude about what God is doing and what God is going to do in our lives. Each of us have to decide what is going to influence us on a daily basis. The choice is ours.
Many years ago I was looking for direction in my life. I had to make a major decision that would impact my family. I sought God with all my heart and came upon a verse that spoke to me personally. Isaiah 30:21 states “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” I was able to make the decision necessary for my life and for my family with confidence knowing that God would direct me according to his word and according to his plan for my life. Now, over 33 years later, I am so blessed that I followed God's leading through his Word.
Years ago I spoke at a missions conference and I said if you want to talk to me there are two things that I guarantee you We will talk about are Jesus and Janice. That is because they are the two most important things in my life. Because they are those are the two things I'm most eager to share with people that I meet. Why are so many Christians afraid to share their faith in Christ? Is it because they are choosing the world and its temporary treasures over the eternal rewards that await those who are faithful to Christ?
Have you ever been out late at night in a place where there is no light and looked up to the heavens in amazement at the beauty of the universe that you see. Driving through the mountains of Mexico at night I would often pull the car over. Janice and I and our children would get out and look up into the heavens and be amazed at our God who hung those stars in space. Isaiah 40:26. Take time today to consider that that same God has granted you life and that you are special to him.
There are many scriptures that call us to focus on what God has done and how that should impact our past and are present. In Philippians 3, the apostle Paul teachers us divine viewpoint through these scriptures. Philippians 3:12 - 14 calls us to forget the past and put it behind us and press on towards the goal for the prize of the high calling of God for us in Christ Jesus. Let us take these verses to heart it. Put the past in the past and live today with joyful recognition that we belong to Jesus Christ God Almighty.
The vast majority of Christians have no idea that God has a plan for their lives. They are totally unaware that He has called each of us for a specific purpose. Primarily, that is to know Him and to glorify Him and make Him known to a lost and dying world. Important as well, is that we seek to know Gods individual calling for our lives. That might be exactly what you're doing right now if you were doing it in such a manner that you are truly glorifying God. First Corinthians 10:31 Either way we will be held accountable for how we spent our lives. We only have one life, and it will soon be passed. Only what is done for Christ will last. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
One of the best decisions that I ever made as a Christian was to be baptized. I thank God that I was going to a church that believed in baptism and taught me the importance of following they were considered to a commander based upon the word of God in Mark 1. That small portion of scripture stands as an example for all of us by Jesus Christ in declaring himself to the world and fulfilling the scriptures. God the Father's reply from heaven was ” this is my son and whom I am well pleased ”. Should not that be our desire as well?
As I share God with people I am saddened to discover how little concern they have for their relationship with God. Here in Mexico, they have a saying “Soy Catolica solo por palabras”. That means they're only Catholic by saying so. They don't attend Mass, they don't go to confession and 99.8% of them have never read their Bible. They have time for everything else such as family, friends, parties, and, of course, their cell phone. For 99% of them God does not exist unless there is a crisis in their life. They have no idea how much they mean to God. Please do not let that happen to you.
More than ever the world needs to discover the Love of God for their lives. Today God is not allowed in public. You will be ostracized for believing in Him. But God's love goes far beyond that and it is necessary for each of us to discover that love and to be faithful to him. It is up to us to discover God’s love and take it to the world.
The vast majority of my time and ministry is spent in trying to communicate what Christ has done on the cross. Everyone has heard about the crucifixion of Christ but they have no understanding of the fullness of what he accomplished by shedding his precious blood for us. Jesus Christ cried out on that cross “It is finished”. He was declaring that He had completely and totally paid for the sins of the world including yours and mine. John 1:29
I believe the more we read the Word of God the more the Word of God will change who we are. Reading more of the Word of God will actually increase our joy, our peace, our patience and our ability to love each other. More importantly, reading the Word of God will lead us to develop a more personal intimate relationship with the God who created us and we will become a living testimony of who He is
Some years ago my children said to me “Dad, the world is not the same that you grew up in”. They were right and it has gotten worse since that time. I have read things in the last week that horrify me. The news would have an extremely negative impact on me if that is what I focused on. But I choose not to focus on the news of the world but rather the Word of God which nourishes my soul and my spirit. The Word gives me eternal hope and a purpose for living. I find good news within its pages. I find good news that encourages me to go on with Jesus Christ. I find good news that guides me and directs me on how to live a life worth living. I pray that you will sit quietly somewhere today and spend time with God in the Word of God and discover eternal life.
I once knew a person that somehow could not let the past be the past. They could not give the pain of disappointment, conflicts, and resentments that were hidden in their heart. They actually refused for decades to talk to another family member because of the past. The other family member had long since forgotten the pain that they caused. The person that could not let go of the past was the one that became bitter. The only solution that I know is to give it all to Jesus and focus on making the best of your life today. Psalm 118:24
Matthew 6:20 Tells us Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. The Bible teaches that there are golden crowns that will be awarded to those Christians that Faithfully live for the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't waste your time chasing the treasures of the Earth that perish but rather a golden crown that will never perish. 2 Timothy 4:8
About a week ago we had an earthquake here in San Miguel de Allende. It split the mountain open and left a trench that was several hundred feet deep into the side of the mountain. A few days later we had a major quake south of Mexico City. People here are very frightened not just because of the earthquakes but because of world events that they see on the news every night. But we should not be fearful because God is with us. Psalm 23
Are you worried about world events? Remember that the Sovereign God of the Universe is in control. Isaiah 40:15 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coast lands like fine dust. 16 Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering. 17 All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.
Probably 95% of people that will listen to this devotional are Christians. 95% of those that are Christians would say they have Christ as their savior but there's much more to Christ. He is God Almighty, Revelation 1:8 He is King of Kings, Revelations 19:16, and He should be the King on the throne of your heart. Perhaps we all need to recognize Him for who He truly is and, as Believers, what he has called us to.
Today is the day that we remember 9/11. It was 20 years ago that the attack on the World Trade Center brought the United States of America to a screaming halt. Millions of people sat in front of a TV screen throughout the entire nation and watched the burning buildings. Their watching turned into horror as they saw the buildings collapse. It is at such a time as these we often wonder where is God. The Bible teaches that God was there then and He is here now.
Life is a journey that includes suffering. There is no escaping it. Sooner or later, each of us has to endure a tragedy that will bring our life to a stop. They will seem to be no way out but there is. That way is Jesus Christ who calls us to himself in those times. Matthew 11:28 If you are in the midst of a great trial draw near to Christ and he will be there for you. 2 Corinthians 1:3
I just listened to a marine colonel who took a stand for truth even though it could cost him his military career, his retirement benefits, and the condemnation and ridicule of his superiors. That is a man who is living for a cause. The cause is truth and honor. Are we living by those standards for Christ? Or are we choosing the lies and propaganda of the world. There will come a moment when we each will give an answer for the way that we live the lives that God almighty has given to us.
I believe, as many others do, that we could be in the last days. it should not surprise us that will be a dramatic increase in the attacks on God end the Bible. There are whole denominations now that discredit large portions of the Bible and in some cases whole chapters in books. but the Bible says, God has said, Heaven and Earth shall pass away but my word will not pass away. Matthew 24:35 Make sure you know the word of God for you will give an answer to God!
Every person that I know Christian and non-Christian, is asking is this the end of the world. From all that I read and understand it could very well be the end. If it is the end, these are the last days we have to prepare for God. The best way I know how is by praying, read the Word of God, and be faithful to the opportunities that God gives you to tell others about Jesus Christ.

There are times when I feel like I am in the midst of a raging battle. Not a physical battle but a spiritual battle. A battle in which I am overwhelmed with projections from principalities and powers and rulers of darkness. Ephesians 6:12 If I have not prepared myself that day by spending time with God and in prayer, I can be severely distracted and discouraged. Each of us needs to put on the whole armor of God daily in preparation but the battles.
In spite of what I am reading today in the news, I have hope. While I am very knowledgeable about how perilous these times are, 2nd Timothy 3:1 -9, I am at peace because I have Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and I am living the life that he has called me to. For those of us that have Christ, we have an eternal hope in Him. Colossians 1:27 In the meantime, day by day, live in such a way that you glorify God and make him known.
During my lifetime I have done both ways. The first 35 years of my life were all my way with some minor restrictions. I won't go into any details but that did not end up well and in the process, I hurt a lot of people. For the last 44 years, it has been God's way. The difference for me personally has been enormous. Even in the midst of everything that is going on in my life and around the world, I'm at peace with God. Your life and what you do with it is your choice. Choose Wisely!
If we are to bear eternal fruit in our lives it is critical that we be intimately connected with God Almighty through Jesus Christ. Just as there are many different types of fruit trees there are many different callings from God. Each of us needs to decide what that calling is and to be as fruitful as possible for the kingdom of God.
The greatest miracle is not being healed from cancer. It is not even a person being raised from the dead. The greatest miracle is for a person is born again in Christ and become the child of God. John 1:12 The reason it is the greatest is that it is forever. That person's eternal destiny is heaven with God almighty. There is a life to be discovered and live through the Word of God. Are we willing to make the sacrifices necessary to a personal intimate relationship with God that will change your life day by day.
Many years ago when our family was living in Mexico City and in desperate need I was cheated out of a significant amount of money by a Christian businessman. I remember being so angry did I didn't even want my wife Janice to mention his name. She encouraged me to commit the situation to God which I did. The next night God send a Christian businessman who became our best supporter for the next 5 years. God used that cast in my life to show me that He would provide for our family. He was there for us.
One of the most exciting results of placing our faith in Christ is that we become a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Spiritually speaking, God has begun a brand-new work in each of us. if you have truly trusted Christ as your savior then you know what I am talking about. The day that I received Jesus Christ as my savior it was as if somebody had turned the lights on in my soul. I knew for sure that I was a new person and that He had something for me to do.
Jesus Christ asks Peter who do you say that I am. Peter replied that what the Christ, The Son of the Living God. Matthew 16:16. Now more than ever it is important that each of us choose to see Christ for who he truly is. Many religious people will say he is the Son of God without understanding the implications of the title. Others will say he is my Savior but fall short of accepting him as their Lord. Who Christ is for you is a critical consideration during these last days.
It can be truly frightening to listen to the news these days. Everyday violence continues to rise in every city in the country. Even in small towns, people are turning to crime because of little or no punishment. It seems that no country in the world is safe anymore. People are in a panic as they look for safety and security. The Bible teaches where safety and security can truly be found.
As I prepared to share this devotional I felt very convicted personally. Do I really live like I am in the last days? Am I doing my very best to take the gospel to a lost and dying world? Do I truly care about others that are headed for hell today? Am I willing to make whatever sacrifices necessary to reach the Lost for Christ? I cannot speak for others but I know in my heart I must do more. What about you?
A true Believer is called to the Word of God. Throughout the Bible there are many verses that encourage us to study and take the Word of God seriously. Proverbs is considered the Book of Wisdom. Proverbs declares that we can gain wisdom and instruction and perceive the words of understanding. That we can read receive instruction, wisdom, judgment and equity. It will give prudence to the simple and to the young man, knowledge, and discretion. Perhaps it is time to get serious about the word of God
Every religion has its holy scriptures but that does not mean that they know God. Even for Christians, especially those that just claim to be Christians, have no idea who their God really is. There is an expression here in Mexico “ By words only”. it means that the person that is claiming to be religious is not really religious except in the most superficial sense. They say they are religious but they do not practice their faith because their faith is only as deep as their words.
Wake up folks, we are in the last days. I believe that based upon the Bible. There are so many portions in scripture both in the Old Testament and the New Testament that talk about a time of great trouble, Jacob's trouble. It is almost like reading the news today. Perhaps it is time to get serious about what we are doing with our lives.
It has been said that you can look at a glass of water that is half full and you can complain that it is only half full or you could be thankful that you had the water. Perhaps, if we are alive today we should be grateful that we have our health. If you had enough to eat, clothes to wear and a place to lay your head you are rich in comparison to more than a billion people who are in poverty today. Take time to be grateful for what you have and not negative about what you want.
Who is the ultimate authority in your life? If it is you how do you make those important decisions that will impact your life and possibly your eternity forever? What do you base the critical questions that we are facing in our lives today? Is it based upon your feelings, your ideas, and your personal opinions? Perhaps, it is time to consider what God says.
The Bible teaches that Christ suffered all of the emotions and needs that we as human beings experience. One of the greatest human sufferings in the world today is poverty. There are hundreds of thousands of people that will go hungry every day, many of them children. We don't often think of Christ being hungry and in need but according to Matthew 8:20, Jesus said foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head. Perhaps we need to be as ready to help those in need as we would Jesus.
A superficial understanding of the Word of God can mislead us. We need to take time, not to just to read the Bible but to consider the implications for our own lives. As we search the Word we need to seriously look for what God might be saying to each of us individually. The parable of the Prodigal Son focuses on the son that went astray but the son that stayed and did what was required of him had a serious issue in his heart. Perhaps we all need to check our own hearts to see what and why we are doing what we are doing with our lives
Do we not get excited when we receive a letter or package that is sent to us from somebody that we love? Or how about a special gift on your birthday or your anniversary? Those things are an expression of someone's love for us. The Bible is a love letter from God expressing his love for each of us. Open it and discover His Agape love for you

What is happening in the United States of America and around the world should drive us to God and the Bible. Why in the world do we not experience more of God in our lives? there are so many precious promises of God in the Bible that encouraged us to experience the fullness of life every day. There is an old sports expression that says “he took his eye off the ball”. I think that is true for all of us to some degree. We fail to keep our focus on Jesus Christ and the Word of God. let us all make a commitment beginning today pray, to study the word of God and believe it.
Before I became a Christian one of the great passions in my life with sports. I thought nothing I'm sitting before the TV and watching 8 to 10 hours of football. At one point, I was ready to bet $10,000 on the first Super Bowl. I became so consumed by sports that I often found myself betting hundreds of dollars every weekend. How foolish I was to give so much attention to something that in the end would not matter at all. what is your passion for your life? Will it matter in eternity?
Sin has been a struggle for everyone since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden. Even then God said that he had a provision for sin in Genesis 3:15. There are people that truly believe they are sinless. But the Bible says if we say We do not sin we are deceiving ourselves. 1 John 1:8 Sin is a challenge for all of us. The question is not will we sin but when we do will we seek God's provision for our sins.
One of the primary sources of worry is the daily news. Reading news or, worse listening to it on the major networks, can contaminate your soul and cause you to worry. There seems to be no good news. The fact of the matter is that you can find the best news in the Word of God. I believe that if we spent as much time reading our Bible as we do watching the evening news our worries would be washed away by the Word of God. God wants to have first place in your heart and if you will do that you will cease to worry. The decision is yours.
One of the most famous Bible verses in the world is Proverbs 3;5 - 6. It says “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. and all thy ways acknowledge Him and He Shall direct thy path”. Sadly, most Christians will trust in human wisdom, including their own, rather than to trust in God for his plan for their lives. Why will we not trust God for every detail of our lives? The Bible says that he created us. Psalm 139: 13- 16. That he has a plan for our lives. Jeremiah 39:11-12. So, why do we not trust him?
Can you really trust God? Many Christians do not have any idea of what it means to trust God. Yes, they might go to church every Sunday. They might even read a daily devotional. But they really never taken a step of faith that would require for them to truly trust God for the outcome. Today's society have more trust in their bank accounts then they do in God almighty. One of the reasons for that is they have never done something that would require them to trusting God with their lives. Today is a great day for each of us to seek God and trust him to use us for an eternal purpose.
Is anybody listening? This world is filled with an avalanche of distractions, noise and misinformation. We are constantly being bombarded by my attempts to capture our attention and influence our thinking. An obvious example for me is television. When I grew up as a young man in the early 1950s there were only two television stations. Today, due to cable, satellite dishes, and the internet, there are well over a thousand sources of information. Our minds have been polluted by the world when we should be focused on acquiring the mind of Christ. Are you listening?
There is a new effort to attack the Bible. It is called deconstruction. This is a diabolical effort to discredit the Bible. Many times, this is done by non-believers but recently individuals that call themselves Believers have taken upon themselves to eliminate the truth of the Word of God. This is done by rejecting verses within the Bible that they dislike and refuse to accept as God's word. The Bible is true but each of us have the responsibility to search the abundant evidence that is available today. Our failure to do so is to our own demise, spiritually and, possibly, eternally.
It was said many years ago “If God doesn't punish America He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah”. Now we can see an avalanche of corruption, violence, and perversion to the extreme. People have become very fearful even in their own homes. The dramatic increase in crime is seen in every major city in the United States and around the world. Could these be the Last Days? The Bible says much about these days that we are living in. Let us consider what God has to say.
Over the years I have read many stories about great missionaries and great Christians they gave their lives for an internal purpose. One of the heroes of the faith was a woman named Fanny Crosby. Fanny Crosby was blinded when a doctor used medication to cure a disease of her eyes. That did not stop Fanny from serving God with all her heart. She went on to serve many years including her ministry at the Bowery mission in New York City. She spent years ministering to the people of the streets. In addition, she wrote hundreds of gospel hymns. Some of her most famous include Blessed Assurance, To God be the Glory and Rescue the Perishing. She never let her blindness stop her from using the talents and gifts that God had given her.
All right folks, what are we going to do? There is a spiritual disease that is rampant in Christianity. It is like a cancer they can affect every area of the church. Most people are hiding it. They will come to church with a smile on their face and you will ask them how are you. They will reply “ Oh I'm I'm good I'm blessed”. But in their heart all is not right. The spiritual disease is eating them away inside. And they will never tell you. They will simply say "Good morning It is nice to see you" but that's not what they really feel. How about you?
Today I read an article about the dramatic increase in suicide amongst young people. Recently, I read another report about the incredible increase and drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and violence in the home. All of these are signs that a majority of people are very unhappy, if not completely miserable. There is a dramatic increase in physical assaults in public places. What is the answer?
It is astonishing to me the degree of suffering that millions of people are experiencing every day. I am deeply saddened at the tens of thousands of people living on the streets of the United States of America due to their sins. We're living in a world that is totally different from when I grew up as a teenager in the 50s. Everywhere we look, lives are being destroyed by the powers of the darkness of this age. The Our Father is a great prayer to sincerely ask of God during these terrible days. This is the last devotional in a series of 3. I hope you will listen to them all.
One of the saddest conditions in the church and families is the inability of some to forgive others. The vast majority of people have no idea of the ramifications of their hard heart and their unwillingness to forgive others. The Bible says that unless we forgive others that God will not hear our prayers. It is essential that we go to God and seek the capacity to forgive others as he has forgiven us. How in the world can we ask God to forgive our sins which are so abundant and yet hold a grudge in our heart against those that have sinned against us.
I am deeply saddened at the condition of the Christian community today. Over the 45 years that I have been a Christian I have seen a significant decrease in the attitudes of the average Christian towards God Almighty is. If God Almighty sitting on his throne with a group of Angels surrounding that throne and crying Holy, Holy, Holy, Isaiah 6, perhaps we should come before God with an attitude of reverence and respect. We should guard our mouth that we do not speak his name in vain. God is going to hold us accountable for the way we approach him and, yes, how we use his holy name.
I do not believe that in my entire lifetime have so many people been so desperate and without hope. People continue to live in fear regarding a virus. Others are fearful about their future as they see the conflicts around the world, particularly in Israel. Our governments are now dictating how we can live and what we can do. This is an excellent time for each of us to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ. 2nd Corinthians 5: 20.
I have met several people that tell me their life is like a hell on earth. Even Christians are struggling with depression and a poor image. Many Christians have no hope. There are people that you know there are desperate for some sort of hope for their lives. Their troubles and yes their sins have taken them to a very dark place where there seems to be no hope but there is hope for a troubled soul.
Many people are looking for a miracle. People are desperate and looking for a solution to their problems. Some are praying to God to bless them financially. Some are praying to God to heal them. Some are praying for a spouse in a family. Some are seeking God for mercy. The answer is described in an account between a Roman centurion and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I just listen to the news regarding Israel. Over 2500 rockets have been fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip. Though it has not been declared, Israel is at war. The situation could escalate into a major conflict in the Middle East going far beyond the Gaza Strip. I do not know of a better time to turn to Jesus Christ and to truly trust in him as your Lord and savior. Today is the day of Salvation and to make a serious commitment to God almighty.
I believe the reason that Christians spend so much time acquiring the things of this world is they really have never study the Bible. They have no idea what eternity is all about. If you ask the average Christian what Heaven is like they might mention the streets of gold. Hopefully, they would mention it is with being with God. Another possibility is they would mention angels, But there is so much more to Heaven. There will be great rewards that God will give to those faithfully lived for him. Just to list a few the rewards which taught in the Bible would be golden crowns, a secret name given to a faithful believer by Jesus Christ himself and special authority and responsibilities for those who have been truly faithful. So, as usual, it is a person's choice and what they will have and what they will do for all eternity. I would suggest let you study your Bible and prepare for eternity.
Where in the world can we find happiness? Many are striving every day with the goal of having everything this world has to offer only to find that it really does not matter. In fact, I know a very well to do couple that seem to have it all. They have a big, beautiful home, brand new SUV's and beautiful children. Unfortunately, that has not made them happy. In fact, it has achieved the exact opposite because they're looking in the wrong places for a very elusive feeling called happiness. Perhaps, we all need to take a close look at what we are searching for in order to be sure that it will produce the ability, not to be happy, but to be content
One of the greatest tragedies of the last 75 years is the major Christian denominations have slowly, at first, disregarded the Word of God. At first they were minor questions within these denominations regarding of whether the Bible should be taken literally or not. Then as the culture began to change they were changes to the denomination’s statement of faith and operating policies. This was particularly true in the Catholic Church when they chose for the sake of influence and money to allow an annulment of the marriage vows, even after many years. The Catholic annulment of the marriage vows means that the marriage never took place even after having children. The Protestant denominations began to make similar decisions. Today very few churches believe the Bible literally. The vast majority have decided to be more reasonable about how to interpret the word of God based on cultural changes. The result has been a disaster for many aspects of Christianity but especially for families. The church and Christians in general need to stand on the word of God or face the consequences.
Jesus Christ said in the parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:9 He who has ears to hear let him hear. In today's world, that is filled with distractions, it is critical that we choose to live in eternal values. Without the Word of God stored in your heart and your mind it is extremely difficult to live with an eternal perspective. I know that I need the discipline to set aside a specific time in my life to spend in prayer and reading the Bible. When I was 39 years old, the Holy Spirit impressed on me the need for me to study the Word of God. Not just to read it occasionally but to pursue the word of God. I listened and I obeyed. I left my profession an enrolled in the best school of the Bible that I could find. Immediately, that decision was attacked on all sides including by other Christians. They told me I was being foolish. The two people that agreed with me where my wife Janice and my pastor, Elmer Vogelsong. Leaving everything to study the word of God was one of the best decisions I ever made in my entire life because the Word of God changed me and my life. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
The Bible says in Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart there is no God. But I believe the greater fool is someone that knows there is a God but chooses to live like there is no God. Others are unwise in the fact that they know there is a God and they seek to please God by being could Christians. Yes, they have Christ as their savior but that's as far as they will go. They are like the Christians described in Revelation 3:14 - 17. They go to church and are good people. But they go to church out of habit or perhaps a personal agenda. They are so distracted they have difficulty in listening to the message. Or perhaps they listen to the message but then they leave and they fail to apply it. Jesus Christ said in order to truly live you must live by the Word of God. He also said that we will be judged by the Word of God. Those are two great reasons to study to show yourself approved God.
So many people have no idea what God has said about loving each other. the reason they do not know it's because they've never opened the Bible. That was true of my own family. I remember that our family had a large beautiful Bible but no one ever read it. I remember one day picking it up and looking at the beautiful drawings. I tried to read some portion of it but could not understand it. I closed it up and I never looked at it again. I asked people now do they believe the Bible is the Word of God. Ninety per cent say yes. When I asked them have they ever read it they admit that they never have. When we stand before God Almighty we will not be able to say we did not have the opportunity to know your Word. Perhaps, this is the best time of your life to open your Bible and read it, believe it and obey it
How is it that the wise men came from the East seeking Jesus Christ. For one thing, they knew the Old Testament scriptures. I believe that God spoke to them through the scriptures because they were seeking God through the Old Testament. You would be amazed By how many times God revealed Jesus Christ in the Old Testament scriptures. Isaiah, the prophet, wrote of Jesus in Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6 and Isaiah chapters 52 and 53. but tens of thousands of people never came to know the reality that Jesus Christ was going to be born in Bethlehem. That He came for a Divine Purpose and that was to save our souls. The wise men were truly wise because not only did they read the scriptures but they obeyed the scriptures.
If somebody were to ask you what is heaven like? Could you tell them? Could you really tell them? Most Christians and almost all non-Christians have no idea what heaven is going to be like. All of us should give some thought to heaven and eternity. Ignorance is not bliss and we are foolish to ignore truth. Especially if we have it readily available in the Bible. Listen to what God has said about heaven and eternity for those of us who have Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Living in Mexico has changed many things about my life. One of the most evident changes is the change in what I eat and drink. I no longer drink Diet Coke or any other diet drink. I do not eat a lot of red meat. Because fresh fruits and vegetables are so abundant here I eat a lot more salads. And, instead of diet coke, I drink fresh made lemonade, orangeade and even cucumberade. These drinks are made up of a gallon of water, fresh fruits and vegetables with a couple of spoons of sugar. Not only are they refreshing but they are much more healthy for us. I chose to change my diet in order to improve my health. Years ago, I changed my schedule in order to improve my spiritual health. Both have had great benefits for me.
It is true. God's mercy towards his children is like an ocean. For those who are in Christ his mercy knows no limits. There are so many verses in the Bible that talk about how merciful God is to those who have accepted his love in Christ. As a new believer, I had no idea of God's love and mercy towards me until the night I asked Christ to be my savior. I had no understanding of how he wanted to be my Shepherd. Even as I studied for this brief devotional I discovered in my spirit a new dimension of God’s mercy towards me. The Holy Spirit illuminated my heart and my spirit to a greater understanding of the miracle of God’s mercy for me and for others. I hope and pray that you will get your Bible and turn to Psalm 23 and listen to what God gave me to share into your heart.
The current crisis is causing great fear amongst millions of people. People are hidden in their homes afraid to leave and go out. They are afraid even to do the normal things of life. Many have sickened and died. Others are facing financial devastation. In fact, many of our friends here in Mexico have lost everything. In some cases, they are barely surviving. but in Christ Our life can be full. In Psalm 23, King David, in the middle of his own crisis, said his cup overflows. Is it possible that in the midst of this great trial our cup could be overflowing? The Word of God says that can be. The real question is how?

The Valley of Death is a place of great Danger for everyone. A great theologian has stated that the Valley of Death symbolizes the great trials that almost everyone faces during a lifetime. These trials come in a wide variety of situations. there have been many studies that have listed the severity of trials that one might face. Amongst the most severe the list includes a death of a child, a death of a spouse, divorce and defeat. Each of these can cause significant trauma to an individual and or a family. Perhaps the most severe is the unexpected accidental death of a child. This would be especially true for the mother. It is hard to imagine the incredible pain a mother would having her heart to hear that her child she deeply loves and has given birth to, nursed and cared through the many childhood illnesses only to lose that child due an accident. How does one survive such a great trial? Only by the grace of God. If you've had a valley of death of experience and survived, you know the only answer is God.
Our society is out of control. One of the characteristics that demonstrates this is the incredible level of violence. People of flying into a rage over with the slightest provocation There is even a term for it now called Road Rage. Not a day goes by without hearing another shooting. What is the answer to such trouble souls? The secret can be found in a careful reading and meditation on Psalm 23.
As I have said many times “there is only one race, the human race, which has been created by God almighty”. As Christians we are commanded by Jesus Christ in Mark 12:31 to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our goal is to treat every human being equally. Each person is created by God. God has chosen every aspect of their being including the color of their skin. To harbor in our hearts or even worse to act out to any degree of racism based upon the color of a person's skin is it act against God and a grave sin. Each individual was designed by God including every characteristic of their being. Psalm 139:13-16 The Christians goal is to love everyone equally and to treat them based upon their character which what was the dream Dr. Martin Luther King jr. D
For those Christians that truly desire to follow Christ they need to know that there is a cost involved. Jesus said “ if anyone wants to come after me he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16: 24 In order to truly have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or anyone else it is necessary that we spend time developing that relationship. Unfortunately, most Christians are too busy with their worldly agenda to devote the necessary time. Each of us have to decide what the real priorities will be for our lives. In Revelation 3:20 , Jesus says that he stands at the door knocking and if any one of us will open the door he will come in and spend time with us. JBDT so, the choice is really up to each of us. The Rich Young Ruler had an amazing opportunity to walk side-by-side with Jesus Christ during his Earthly Ministry but he could not let go of his riches. If we truly want to walk with the Lord Jesus Christ we will have to let go something.
There are many expression in Spanish. Some I really like. Some I really don't like. I like the way Mexicans address their children. Many times a parent would address their child by calling them “ Mi amor”, my love. "Mi vida", my life. Another is the way they address is elderly man, “joven”, young man. You know you're getting old when the man at the gas station calls you “joven”. It Is a great compliment. But but some sayings things I don't like is “manana”, maybe tomorrow or maybe next week or maybe never! Another is “Si, Dios quiere”. If God wants! I believe that there is a saying that even God does it like used in reference to him. That is “Mas o menos”. More or less.
If you listen to only one devotional I pray that you will listen closely to this one. One of the greatest privileges we have as Christians is to live a life worth living. I get out of bed every morning knowing that I have the opportunity to live each day in such a way that it will count for all eternity.
Some people have a terrible time admitting that they are a Sinner. They will try to justify themselves by citing good works that they're not bad people but they do not understand the holiness of God and what he requires of us . But God has a provision for the nonbeliever as well as the Christian. We find it in the Bible.
Several times in the word of God people called Christ a good teacher. But he was far more than that. He was a master communicator. He often spoke very clearly, some might say harshly. But he always spoke the truth. Many times, he would use a parable to illustrate an eternal truth. Some never really understood but it is important that we do. Hidden within the parable of the 10 virgins is a critical lesson for us all.
Whether we know it or not, we who are in Christ, are in a race for a price that will be eternal. When it comes to eternal matters ignorance is no excuse. Failure to know and appreciate all that Christ has done for us is a tragic mistake.
Today is Good Friday. This is one of the best days of the year to remember what Christ Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary for those of us who have placed our faith in Christ as our Lord and Savior.The account of the Passion of Christ is communicated in all four of the Gospels. It is imperative that we read each of the accounts to fully understand what Christ accomplished for those of us who are Christians.
There is no better time than Easter to consider Christ and his blood. Many that called themselves Christians have no idea what the blood of Jesus Christ has accomplished for those who will come to him. Even to this day multitudes reject the opportunity to enter into the fullness of what God has for us. Easter week is the most sacred week of the year. If you have never taken time to consider, seriously considered, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your sins it is imperative that you do so now.
The Bible is just as true today as it was 2000 years ago. We are seeing biblical prophecy being fulfilled before our very eyes. The Bible says in the last days men and women would depart from the truth. I have only to read the Daily News to realize that what the Bible says is being revealed every day. It is astonishing to me how accurate the word of God that was written 2000 years ago. It is like reading the headlines today if you don't believe me I would encourage you to open your bibles and read 2 Timothy chapter 3 and see if that is not exactly what is happening today. As never before we need to still store the word of God in our hearts and filter everything we read or hear or see by its truth.
We as Christians have the potential to live a life that is worth living. We have the opportunity to live a life that will matter for all eternity. Sadly, many fall short. Jesus said that he came to give us life and life more abundantly but many have not found it. There is a great barrier that will keep many from ever experiencing the fullness of what God has for them because they will not obey his commandment.
Are you listening? Are you really listening? Do you really want to know? Are you ready to obey? God is ready to speak to you. The Bible says that many are called but few are chosen. The reason that few are chosen is that the others really are not interested in doing what God is asking them to do. Much of our prayers are spent telling God what we want him to do. That kind of attitude makes us God. My dear friends, if we ever truly understand who is and how much He loves us we would be ready to say as Paul said “Lord, what would you have me to do?”.
During my quiet time, this morning I became very convicted of where my focus is. A famous theologian once said the church has too much to do with the world. The world can capture our interest and consume hours of our time. With all of its flashy images and amazing displays of materialism it is far too easy to be distracted and turn away from the things of God. I was very convicted by the Word of God and challenge to refocus my attention godly things and eternal matters. I want to have a heart that loves others with God's love. John 1513 says Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. I am going to purpose today that if God gives me that opportunity I will do so.
Perhaps the saddest part of the COVID-19 health crisis has been our inability to interact with other human beings. According to the CDC there is a dramatic increase and loneliness depression and suicide. One of the greatest needs we all have is to have someone that truly, truly cares about us. The answer to these problems is found in the Bible.
Many well-known people over the centuries have said interesting, sometimes powerful, last words as they died. surely if we have time to be with a loved one as they lay dying what we would say would be important to them and to us. I had a personal experience with one of my family members as we spoke. I knew that this could very well be the last time I had a chance to tell him I loved him and respected him. His wife told me that was the last conversation he had before he died. How much more important would be the last words of Christ as he spoke to those who followed him. It appears that the world is filled with suffering. Everywhere we look there are diseases, accidents, crime and even death. Many people are desperate and looking for answers but there seemed to be none. Yet, the Bible clearly speaks to suffering. In order to truly understand one must know that God is in control and He has a purpose for suffering. This brief devotional speaks to that. The Bible can teach us all about true love. True love can only come from God through Jesus Christ. How sad it is that most will reject a love that can truly transform their life and settle for a cheap counterfeit from the world. Isaiah 64:6 says that religious works are but filthy rags but the book of James 1:12 says Faith with out works is dead. Which can it be? Does it matter how I live at all? We would be wise to seek the answers in the Word of God because God will be the one that judges us.
Jesus Christ, God almighty, said in John 10:10b I came to give them life and life more abundantly. The call of God will be a life that only he can plan and execute for each of us. Each of us have to decide to answer the call of God for our life, whatever that might be. Only you and God will truly know. But if you hear God calling be eager and ready to answer yes. After 40 years of ministry both Janice and I would say “thank you God for the life that you have given to us”.
There is bad news everywhere. It is almost impossible to watch the nightly news and not be depressed. Around the world there are conflicts health crisis and economic disasters. In the United States, society is out of control. Crime is increasing at rapid rates. Government spending is out of control. Only God knows where it will end. But there is hope in Christ.
Thomas Edison one of the greatest inventors in history, discovered electric light bulb after failing over 10,000 times through but that did not stop him. He later said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Edison was committed 2 success in everything he did who. The reason was he never quit. He often said, "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up”. To truly know God will require a commitment, persistence and to never give up. Jeremiah 2913 set you shall seek me and you shall find me when you search me with all of your heart.

This is a personal account of how I, Pastor Jack Driscoll, live with the fear that I was doomed to Hell. I attended special event at the Catholic Church with my father. Many because they were willing to share their faith even if it cost them their lives I have met men and women who gave up everything to be able to tell people about Jesus Christ. One of the greatest men of God I have known was Reverend Creighton Dunlap at Saint Pauls house in New York City. He and his brother Reese received Christ add an old time tent revival service led by Reverend daddy Hall an Episcopal priest. They both left their real estate business to take the gospel to the last. Bruce Olson a 19-year-old University student was so persecuted by his father who locked him out in a snow blizzard with the nearest neighbor 5 miles away. He went to Columbia and led thousands to the Lord. His story is in a book called Bruchko. Jim Elliot and four of his friends died while trying to take the gospel to the Auca Indians. Their story was portrayed in the movie the End of the Spear. Maybe we should go next door and tell our neighbor about Christ.
Part 1 teaches on a compelling reason why we should be sharing the Gospel of Christ at every opportunity. We, as Believers in Christ, have a responsibility to be sharing our salvation in Christ with others as often as possible. How can we that know and Christ and have salvation through his Finished Work and not communicate that truth with those that we know and love. Heaven is real and we should make every effort to point others to an eternal destiny with God, Almighty.
The Bible clearly teaches that there are two spiritual forces that have a plan for your life. In John 10:10a it says that the thief, Satan, has come to seek, to steal, to kill and destroy. That is very clearly seen in our society today because of the saturation of ungodly lifestyles, particularly in the drug scene.Over80,000 people died from drug use in 2000. But God has another plan because John 10:10b states that Christ came to give us life and life abundantly. Regardless of your past, you can begin to choose the life that Christ has for you today.

Eternal security is one of the most important issues we need to settle With God. Many will disagree with me on this issue would. I would challenge you to consider the scriptures that are included in this brief devotional. I believe that if an individual sincerely ask Jesus Christ, for whatever reason, that Christ save them they are saved. Only God knows a person's heart, but God is merciful and ready to save. If the blood of Jesus Christ is not sufficient to save me then I am doomed. But as I say my salvation begins and ends with Jesus Christ. One of the amazing things about my life in Christ is I have an eternal purpose that motivates me to get out of bed and go out and seek the lost. I have never gotten over the fact that I have Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. When I trusted Christ, I had no idea what Lord even meant but I did know that I needed a Savior. As I share Christ with people I feel such a joy at times that I cannot help but express it. Some people think that I am foolish. Where is my old dear friend Pastor Creighton Dunlap used to say “I'm a fool for Christ? Who's full are you?
Love can be expressed in many ways. But our current culture has no idea of the true meaning when they say” I love you”. In some cases, the word love has been cheapened to be equal with other superficial sayings such as “I’ll see you later”. It has become nothing more than an expression of some feeling by another individual. But in the eyes of God love, especially God's love, is far more significant. We would do well to consider the meaning of love and use it in an appropriate manner.
We are commanded in Matthew chapter 22 by Jesus Christ God almighty to love God with all our heart, with all of our might, with all of our strength and with all of our mind. But in our society today, yes even in the Christian churches, I love you has become as common as saying goodbye. Jesus went on to say, and love thy neighbor as thyself. Most people, even Christians, have no understanding of the true meaning of love. I pray that this brief devotional will challenge you to take a serious look at what love should mean for you and others.
It is finished! The Bible teaches that those were the last words of Jesus Christ as he died on the cross for us. Three words that declare a truth which could transform our lives if we take the time to enter into the reality of the profound meaning of the word “finished”. The Greek word is teleo. Many, many people are struggling with depression, fear and frustration these days. people are suffering physically, mentally and spiritually as they see family and friends losing everything including their lives, especially the elderly. To add to the situation the news media is constantly contradicting themselves and it is leading to a great loss of confidence in our government and health resources. There is much fear about the vaccine being offered for COVID-19. Many are losing their businesses along with their life savings. Others are being evicted from their homes with nowhere to go. How in the world can we have peace?
It is amazing to me how many people have bibles but never open them. We are so blessed to live in a country that allows us the freedom to worship Jesus Christ. There are many churches in most towns that we can go and hear the word of God preached. And even more than that we have The Internet by which we can access any Bible that we choose plus devotionals The Greek New Testament and many other biblical resources. Yet the vast majority of Christians do not know what they really believe or why they believe what they believe. But as this devotional says we will all stand before Jesus Christ God almighty and give an answer. Do not neglect for one more day your opportunity to read the word of God and to know Jesus Christ your Lord and savior.
The Bible says many things about who we are when one accepts Christ as their Savior. Many have no idea because they never read their Bibles. Others, because they only race through the pages without taking time to consider the meaning and depth and the wonders of the Word of God. Do not let that happen to you
The Internet is filled with distractions. We are being overwhelmed daily hourly, even moment by moment from information and news from around the world. The Christian world seems to be mesmerized by the news media. From one day to the next we are told several different points of view based on human wisdom. All of this distracts us from the call of God on our lives. If you believe in Jesus Christ and consider yourself a follower of Jesus Christ, then you are a disciple. That requires that you focus on a eternal matters rather than the temporal that changes from day to day.
For almost a year our lives have been drastically changed. The various influences have made dramatic adaptation necessary to our lifestyles including the ability to meet our basic needs. At this point, many people have lost everything. Many have died. Many have closed their businesses for good. But during these great challenges there is a place of peace. Take time to consider this brief message and apply it to your life.
What is truth? I have often said to people please tell me the truth because I do not want to live in a lie. It is critical that we find a source of truth that we can count on for our lives. In the 1500s Galileo an incredibly intelligent man and an astrologer of the universe, said that there were 3500 stars in the skies. Was that true? By human standards at that time it was but by eternal standards it was not. Today, thanks to scientific advancement we now know there are trillions of stars. But it is possible to know eternal truth that will guide our lives and bring us to an expected end? This brief devotional will explain to you how to know the truth that will truly make a difference.
There were so many portions in the Bible that direct us to God, to truly seek him with all our heart. To discover what Jesus meant when He said "I came to give them life and life more abundantly". John 10:10b. There are many, many verses where God calls "come on to me", " seek me with all your heart", " cry out to me" and "be still". In order to discover God's plan for our lives we must earnestly see Him. If God called Abraham Moses and Jeremiah what makes us think He does not have a calling for us. Jeremiah speaks in many ways not just about God's calling for Jeremiah, but for the nation of Israel. We have a responsibility to discover how God can call us each of us to the plan that he has for our lives.
Is Christ our example or not? The Word of God in Matthew 419 says in the words of Jesus Christ “follow me and I will make you Fishers of men “ so , if we are truly seeking to follow the Lord Jesus Christ what should be part of our life what should be a priority in our purposes. What should we be doing for the Kingdom of God?
This segment is a continuation on the devotional featuring Philippians 1:21 for me to live is Christ, to die is gain. What is shared in this portion is known by only a few Christians. Hopefully, my thoughts that I share will provoke you to seriously consider that one day your life will be evaluated by the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be tested by fire.
