A podcast recorded with Nick Pahl, CEO of the Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM), on the current and future state of occupational health in delivering workplace wellbeing. This includes SOM’s perspectives on the impact of Covid-19 for the profession. In addition, there is a wider piece on the recent academic report released by SOM exploring the value of occupational health, providing pathways for workforce wellbeing. This is one of an ongoing series of interviews with various experts and practitioners, produced by the LinkedIn Workplace Wellbeing Practitioners’ Forum.
This podcast is a continuation of the Workplace Wellbeing Practitioners Forum's series of interviews, seeking opinions an insights from various experts and practitioners on workplace wellbeing matters.
It features a wide-ranging conversation between Evan Davidge and Darren Laverty who is a financial wellbeing strategist and Partner at Secondsight and Foster Denovo. Darren has been in the business for over 30 years and he is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic person who can make the most dullest subjects quite entertaining.
The podcast was recorded some weeks into the Covid-19 crisis / lockdown. It was a timely discussion especially as the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is likely to make personal debt much worse. Indeed the signals being sent by the experts are bleak. There has never been a better opportunity than for employers to provide financial wellbeing support.
The original intention was to focus on the business case for financial wellbeing. But we decided to expand the debate by looking at the economic landscape before and during the crisis to contextualise how it was having a major bearing on attitudes towards workplace financial wellbeing. More importantly, we discuss what needs to change going forward to leverage WFW as a strategic business imperative, and how the industry can help guide employers down that pathway.
The main podcast topics are listed below with approximate timelines.
