Sermon: Our Confession
Mark 8:22-28
In this series ‘I Will Follow’, we dive deep into what it truly means to follow Jesus, developed out of the gospel of Mark. It is meant to challenge The Remnant to broaden and deepen our culture of discipleship. And by answering the question, WHAT does it mean, and WHAT does it look like to "actually" follow Jesus? First, we identify and define the WHO we're following and the WHAT we're building.
It's easy to respond to the question "Jesus" in a generic, moralistic sense. It's another thing to answer the question he asked the disciples in Mark 8:29; "But who do you say that I am?" Not with just with words but with all that you are.
Are we following Jesus as Christ, as King, as Lord? Or is our discipleship, our seeking of him, generic, leading to a generic transformation? A transformation without any real depth, growth, or longevity?
The language of discipleship is specific, and it's heavy; let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. To reference Dietrich Bonhoeffer, "there is a cost to discipleship."
Throughout this series, we will discuss and discover the WHO, HOW, and WHY we give ourselves to the following of Jesus as KING (LORD).
My definition of discipleship for this series is simply the daily practice of surrendering our WILL to the LORDSHIP of JESUS CHRIST.
The book of Mark is constructed like any good screenplay, separated into three acts. Acts 1 & 2 we'll cover in the first part of our series. The final act we'll cover in the second part of our series. Act 1 takes place in chapters 1-8 in the region of Galilee, and the overarching theme is introducing the characters and posing the question, WHO IS JESUS?
The final act occurs in Jerusalem, where Jesus reveals the answer to the question asked in Act 1. He is the Christ, the Messiah. The promise of WHO HE IS is revealed; it's fulfilled. The second act takes place on the way to Jerusalem from Galilee, and its theme revolves around the disciples' struggle to understand WHO Jesus is.
I hope that the clarity in which we see Jesus and the Kingdom he's established will lead to a more profound desire to build a way of life rooted in HIM. Will you follow?
Mark 1:1-15 ESV

This sermon was recorded on (09/18/22)
This week, Pastor Jared begins Part II of The Progeny series. He discusses the power of WILL and how the WILL of self can, if left unchecked, influence how we see and hear the teachings of Jesus.
Do we listen for proof or validation? Or do we hear the teachings of God through the frame of need for the sustenance it offers the body + soul?
It's not enough to surrender one's WILL. We must also take up (DO) the WILL of God. Doing brings clarity to HIS timing and understanding to HIS teaching.

Guest Speaker: Pastor Dave Fields on Parenting Children, Teens, and Young Adults in 2022 Culture
Life is changing constantly. How do you deal with changes in today's world from a biblical lense?
This week Pastor Jared teaches out of the book of Philemon.
Talk has become cheap within the church. Everybody has something to say, and we say it so loudly. YET when you look past the LOUD, you may find a void. Philemon teaches us that church is supposed to relate to one another differently. For the church to form WE;
It's time to live differently.

The purpose is to refill and replenish our hearts. Far too often do we function from a place of depletion instead of operating from a place of overflow. The hope is that these sermons would encourage just that, overflow.

Sermon: Rest
This week Pastor Jared preaches a standalone message on what it means to truly REST.
Culturally we often confuse relaxation for rest. Relaxing is what you do when you're tired. Resting is what you do when you're depleted. How are you feeling today?
Biblical REST begins with STILLNESS and UNDERSTANDING.
This sermon was recorded on May 29th, 2022.
Series: Jesus As King
Scripture: Colossians 2:6-15 ESV
This week Pastor Jared teaches about the "outside pressures" facing the church of Colossae. Many of these pressure we can relate to now. The pressure to appear more righteous and virtuous. The pressure to bend to cultural values. The pressure of mixing doctrine with spiritual self-realization.
BUT
We combat these pressures by being grounded in the TRUTH of who Jesus was and is. And allowing Him to form us from the inside out.
Please enjoy this week's message.

Sermon: Cool, Calm, + Collected

The Fidelity Mentality;
Enjoy this week's message about how to live a life of fidelity amid uncertainty.

Sermon: (I Am) The Bread: Part 2
Scripture: John 6:35-59 ESV
This week Pastor Jared discusses the first of the seven references of "I AM."
John begins his gospel with the idea "the WORD became FLESH."
He then goes on to reveal how Jesus, the Word becomes flesh. By becoming bread so that we can feed and ingest him. No longer living hungry, wanting something, anything to satisfy the void within us all.
This week we will see how Jesus comes as (eternal) bread. Enjoy.

Sermon: (I Am) The Bread
Scripture: John 6:22-34 ESV
Synopsis:
This week Pastor Jared teaches about the crowd's reaction to Jesus after being fed the loaves and fishes. Wanting more, the crowd pursues Jesus to the other side of the sea. There they inquire for more "bread," more "signs," and more "proof."
Jesus responds by revealing what they seek isn't what they need. Nor is it what he came to "give."
Don't settle for the temporary when Jesus came to provide the eternal. Seek, work, trust, for the true bread, HIM.

Sermon: The Walking
Scripture: John 6:16-21 ESV
Synopsis:
This week Pastor Jared discusses Jesus walking on water. The significance and uniqueness of the miracle.
As preachers, we tend to make this passage about a personal application, having faith like Peter to get out of the boat. Instead, get caught up in the WHY?
Why did Jesus decide to cross the Sea of Galilee by walking on water? Why was he planning on passing by the disciples but instead was moved to intervene because of their fear? What is the significance of this miracle?
To answer this, we must understand the history of the bible—specifically the story of Moses. Moses passed through the waters, Jesus walked ON the waters. We must see through the lens that Jesus came to establish where man failed. He came not only to fulfill but to establish "a new thing."

Sermon: The Feeding
Scripture: John 6:1-15 ESV
Synopsis:
This week Pastor Jared teaches the "Feeding of the Five Thousand." A famous passage with the church.
We often focus more on the miracle than the message of the miracle. Then we apply the miracle for SELF CONSUMPTION.
Jesus came not to meet the need of the compulsive but to bring about a NEW KINGDOM.

Sermon: His Sonship (Part 2)
Scripture: John 5:30-47 ESV
Synopsis:
This week Pastor Jared continues his teaching on the relationship between Jesus and (His) the Father.
Last week we learned about the authority of Christ. This week we will learn about the testimony (witness) of Jesus.
His claim, its validity and why it matters.
Biblical judgment is a key aspect of scripture. Humanity is broken and corrupt. Our hope is in a reckoning—a balancing of debt. Jesus is the only ONE worthy to facilitate such a judgment.
He is worthy of our TRUST.

Sermon: "the battle within"
Scripture: John 5:1-18 ESV
Synopsis:
This week Pastor Jared will teach about the battle within the human spirit.
The battle of the WILLS.
In this story, Jesus encounters a man who needs two healings;
Would the WILL of the man surrender to the direction given by Jesus.
Faith wasn't the catalyst for his healing. The mercy of Jesus was the motivator.
Question; how often do we need our WILL healed before God's WILL can be revealed?

This week Pastor Jared teaches on the nobleman and his dying son.
Scripture: John 4:46-54 ESV
This week we'll discover that maybe just maybe, we're asking the wrong question with the right motives.
Be careful NOT to fall into the trap of needing proof that Jesus is who HE claims to be. He is beyond worthy of your trust.
ENJOY!
This week Pastor Jared finishes the story of the Samaritan woman.
This week we discover the REVELATION of Jesus.
Jesus came to reveal himself to those who needed salvation and sustenance.
To provide bread, real bread. Bread that is the result of OBEYING the Word and accomplishing the will of the Father.
Are you hungry? Feed on the WILL of the Father. LIVE DEPENDENT UPON THE WORD.
ENJOY!
This week Pastor Jared shares a part of his testimony. On January 30th, 2013, he and his wife lost their second son Cruz.
Pastor Jared shares that God's grace is more than enough, even in difficulty. It's easy to proclaim the goodness of God in the midst of blessing. It's a whole different reality to proclaim the goodness of God amid pain and loss.
BUT God's grace is not circumstantial. It's CONSTANT.
This week Pastor Jared continues with his series: The Progeny, discussing the interaction between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well.
John 4:1-26 ESV

This week Pastor Jared interviews Matt Beghtel.
They discuss how Matt was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Caner (non-small cell lung cancer) and how God led him and his wife through that season.
Matt does an excellent job showing how he faced this diagnosis spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
We invite you into the conversation.
This week Pastor Jared discusses the interaction between Jesus and Nicodemus.
John 3:1-15 ESV
Within this interaction, Jesus introduces the concept that one must be "born again" or, better said, "born from above" to see and enter into the Kingdom of God.
The work of Jesus is now defined. This new covenant (water into wine), this new Kingdom, would come about through a rebirth, one with a heavenly origin of spirit and body.
This week Pastor Jared discusses The Call of the disciples.
In John 1:35-51, we see the uniqueness of Jesus. His ability to draw to himself those who are searching. He doesn't call them impersonally; He engages them intimately and personally.
The same is true for you; he sees you, he knows you, he calls you, he names you.
This week Pastor Jared discusses the first sign of Jesus.
What is a sign? A clue, something that reveals the nature or purpose of another thing. The water into wine (John 2:1-12 ESV) was the first sign Jesus would perform that would foreshadow the ultimate sign of who He was, is, and is to come. That ultimate sign is the cross and resurrection.
He began pointing towards where it will end (or start again)—a new thing within an old system.
This week we have a special message titled The Power of the Seed.
From Pastor Matt Molt of New Vintage Church in Tri-Cities, WA.

This week Pastor Jared will dive into the details of the The Last Supper.
Where Jesus took, blessed, broke, and gave the bread (His Body).
Where He took the wine (His Blood) and declared a new covenant; a new eon, a new era, a new Kingdom.
The Lords Supper is more than reminder it is an invitation into the NEW KINGDOM through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
This week Pastor Jared discusses the relationship between The Lord's Supper and the Passover.
To understand the setting, the elements, and the context of the Lord's Supper, we must take a deeper look at the Passover.
The Lamb, the Blood, and the Bread.
The children of Israel fed on a lamb and were spared by the shedding of its blood.
The Lord's Supper reminds us that we have been passed over (spared) for...a purpose. His purpose.
This week Pastor Jared gives a talk in Faithfulness.
Text: Matthew 25:14-30
How will we respond?
What will we do with little? What will we do with much?
Activating your faith.
This week Pastor Jared gives a talk on peace.
We have all experienced some form of stress, worry, anxiety, or even insecurity. Some of us live in a perpetual state of one of the aforementioned. Peace is the one fruit of the spirit that deals directly with these symptoms.
How to we unlock peace in our lives?
Peace is the antidote for anxiety
There are different kinds of peace. We need to be careful not to settle for counterfeit peace. The only peace that matters is that which comes from God.
This kind of peace require the prerequisite of faith...justifying faith (Romans 5:8)When Jesus becomes our Lord we gain access to this kind of peace.
Pastor Jared begins a new series this summer called; The Fruit.
This series takes a deeper look at the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). How the fruit of the Spirit are the evidence of maturity or immaturity in the believer.
This week Pastor Jared focuses specifically on LOVE.
Scripture: 1 John 4:7-11 ESV
Understanding love...begins with one simple truth...that God is love. How can we know that God is love? The Father selflessly sent, sacrificed His only Son to reckon what we could not settle within ourselves.
We emulate this love not solely with our feelings but with our practices...
This week Pastor Jared talks about The Final Weapon mentioned in Armor of God; PRAYER. Recognizing that what we accomplish in the "here" is "directly" dependent on the indwelling of the Spirit.
Scripture: Ephesians 6:18-20 ESV
