This week Bill Johnson closes our I Want Greener Grass series with a message on honest living - not as a behavior to manage, but as a reflection of the character of God. Honesty, holiness, and humility come together as we're reminded that we were designed to represent Him in every part of life - at church, at work, at home, and online.

We're surrounded by voices - social media, friends, family, our own inner monologue, the noise of a world that never stops talking. But not every voice is telling us the truth. In week five of I Want Greener Grass, Pastor Geoff walks through the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17 and shows how each character carries a different voice: the voice of lies, empty noise, anger, and fear - and how the voice of God brings truth and courage to those who tune in and listen.

In a divided and weary world, it's easy to pull back, fence off our lives, and only look after our own.

In this installment of the I Want Greener Grass series, Daybreak welcomes longtime friend, international speaker, and prolific author Reverend Dr. Kevin Harney. Serving as the teaching pastor at Shoreline Community Church in Monterey, California, and Family Church in Zeeland, Michigan, Kevin is also the president and visionary leader of Organic Outreach International. Alongside his wife Sherry, he has written over 100 small group study guides in partnership with ministries like Max Lucado and Dallas Willard, and authored highly regarded books including the Organic Outreach series, the NIV Application Commentary Series, and "No" is a Beautiful Word.

In this message, Kevin challenges us to turn outward and become relentless seed-scattering machines. Drawing from a small-town parade and Jesus' foundational Parable of the Sower in Luke 8, he strips away the mystery of sharing faith by revealing that our calling is to scatter the good news of Jesus Christ everywhere, all the time, and to everyone. Instead of sizing up the soil and guessing who is receptive, we are called to boldly spread God's love and grace, trusting that the Holy Spirit works beneath the surface to transform even the hardest hearts.

Every family has a story, and so does every nation. In week 2 of "I Want Greener Grass," Scott Bos unpacks one of the most practical commands in Scripture: honor your father and mother. Drawing from Proverbs and the life of George Washington, Scott shows how strong families build strong futures, and how honoring our parents, even imperfect ones, opens the door to blessing for us and the generations that follow.

"I Want Greener Grass" is a six-week series in the book of Proverbs, exploring timeless wisdom for building a life that feels solid and meaningful.

Some people spend their whole lives wishing for a different field. Proverbs says: tend the one you're in.

In this first message of our new series I Want Greener Grass, Pastor Bill Johnson takes us back to the garden - where work wasn't a curse, but a calling. Drawing from Proverbs and Genesis, Bill unpacks what it looks like to bring diligence, purpose, and even worship to the work God has placed in front of you.

Case File 6: Detective's Log

Some questions don't just stop you cold - they shake the whole case wide open. In the final chapter of Plot Twist, Pastor Geoff Eckart takes us to the darkest crime scene in history: the cross. And there, in his greatest moment of suffering, Jesus utters something nobody saw coming - "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

It doesn't add up. Not on the surface. But dig deeper and the evidence points to something written a thousand years earlier - a Psalm so precise in its detail, so uncanny in its parallels, it could only have one author. The clues were there all along. We just had to know where to look.

Then the case takes another turn. It's Father's Day, and every man in the room gets a new assignment. Geoff's father-in-law takes the stand with a piece that'll stop you in your tracks. And when the dust settles, there's a challenge on the table for every man willing to pick it up: eleven ways to become the courageous man God put you here to be.

Two messages. One unforgettable morning.

Case Closed.

Case File 5: Detective's Log

The temple was supposed to be sacred ground. But somebody had turned it into a racket.

In week five of Plot Twist, Pastor Geoff Eckart pulls back the curtain on one of the most explosive moments in Scripture - a scene so raw, so unexpected, it shows up in all four Gospels. Jesus walked into the temple courts that day and didn't like what He found. Tables flipped. Coins scattered. Doves flying. And a city that should have known better.

But this wasn't just a man losing His temper. This was something calculated. Something righteous. Something that had been building since before the foundation of the world.

The question isn't whether Jesus got angry. The question is what are you doing with your anger?

Case File 4: Detective's Log
The city was hungry, and the mob was looking for a payoff. In Week 4 of our Plot Twist series, Pastor Geoff Eckart cracks open John Chapter 6 to examine the ultimate sting operation: the feeding of the 5,000. On paper, the setup was flawless. Jesus delivers a massive, miraculous payout on a sunny hillside, and the marks immediately try to corner Him. They wanted a patsy they could force onto a throne—a convenient king to do the heavy lifting against the Roman syndicate. But just as they moved to pin a crown on Him, the Target pulled an Unexpected Exit and split the scene, vanishing into the mountains alone. This file exposes the lethal difference between a genuine, God-given opportunity and a cheap spiritual shortcut. If you've been grifting for a quick fix or wondering why the Big Boss is taking the long route through the dark streets of your life, this investigation reveals the hidden protection hidden inside His direction. Learn how to stop trying to remodel the King into your own image, drop the stress of running your own numbers, and uncover the gritty patience required to wait out the clock on Psalm 37.

Case File 3: Detective's Log
The rain was coming down hard on the neon-lit streets, washing away the surface dirt but leaving the grit behind. Most people like their Jesus sanitized - a polite, passive character who never pushes back, living like a clean caricature who wouldn't dare rock the boat. But if you take a magnifying glass to the case files, the truth gets heavy. In Case File 3 of our Plot Twist investigation, Pastor Geoff Eckart blows the dust off Matthew 23, where Christ goes completely nuclear on the religious elite. It’s a classic setup: leaders flashing their shiny spiritual badges on the outside while running a crooked racket on the inside. From back-alley compartmentalization to clean cups hiding dirty secrets, Jesus lays out the "Seven Woes" like a rap sheet. But the real twist lands right at the end of the interrogation. This case isn't about pinning the crime on the guy down the street; it forces you to look straight into the mirror and face the primary suspect staring back. True transformation isn't a cheap cosmetic fix to clean up your reputation - it’s a total surrender of the inner life before the clock runs out.

Jesus constantly surprised people through the way He healed, taught, confronted, and walked away from expectations, revealing a purpose far bigger than anyone anticipated. In Plot Twist, we’ll step into six unexpected moments from His life to discover what His actions revealed about His mission and the heart of the Kingdom of God - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeuJOy7iJXjV1GmdVy671hLfNjdDy-ZqA

It was a cold, rainy morning - hovering in the 50s and coming down steady. Not befitting the desired feel of a Memorial Day weekend when most of West Michigan packs up and heads to their lakeside cottages to kick off the summer beach season. Instead of a sun-drenched pier, the pavement was slick under a sheet of grey fog. I sat back in the dim light, cracked my knuckles, and sipped on a cold Peppermint Lime Espresso Tonic from Daybreak Coffee Company - the signature drink of the Plot Twist series - while the tape rolled on Case File No. 2, an encounter that subverts every predictable script in the book. In this case file, Ethan Lintemuth interrogates one of the most culturally jarring standoffs in the Gospels: Jesus’ meeting with a desperate Canaanite mother in Matthew 15. On the surface, it looks like a cold shoulder from the Teacher, a stone-cold refusal packed with a bizarre metaphor about children’s bread and dogs that would make any modern cynic close the ledger for good. But if you look past the neon fog and dig beneath the historical layers, you realize Jesus wasn't slamming the door in the rain; He was setting a calculated trap to expose, test, and ultimately expand the faith of everyone watching from the shadows.

The city was quiet, but the air was thick with the kind of suspense that rolls in slow with bad choices and cold coffee. That’s when the operation began. Pastor Rachel Reigard laid out the cold, hard facts in Case File No. 1 of our new sermon series, Plot Twist. Performing a meticulous, in-depth investigation into Mark 1.40-45, Pastor Rachel cracks open the tragic truth of ancient leprosy - a social death sentence that left men untouchable. Turns out, this man Jesus didn't play by the rules of the pavement. He crossed lines to touch the contagious and completely flipped the script on the religious big shots who thought they had Him cornered.

Why does a good God allow evil to exist?

In the final week of our Y? series, Pastor Geoff tackles the "stumbling block" question that many struggle to answer. By exploring the four types of worlds God could have created and the tension between divine sovereignty and human choice, we discover that God didn't just look at evil and turn away - He came to deal with it personally. As we celebrate Palm Sunday and look toward Resurrection Sunday, we are reminded that Jesus isn't just a savior for the world "out there," but a Savior for the heart "in here."

In the fifth week of our Y? series, we share a special film highlighting the journey of Mark and Kris Dekker. Married for 45 years and members of Daybreak for over 30, the Dekkers open up about their 17-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. From the initial "boom" of a diagnosis that shattered their retirement dreams to witnessing over 14 people find Christ through their story, this message explores how God uses our weakest moments to write an eternal story. It is a raw, honest look at choosing faith over bitterness and finding joy when the plan changes.

Worrying is like planting fear and expecting peace to grow. It chokes out joy, drains our energy, and keeps us from trusting that God will take care of us. But trust - true, growing trust - is like planting your faith deep in good soil. Jesus says we don't need to worry about what we'll eat or wear or how things will work out. He points to birds and flowers, reminding us that God takes care of creation - and how much more He'll take care of us.

What if generosity is more than giving - it's growing? In Generate, we’re exploring how every act of kindness, sacrifice, or faith has the power to multiply into something lasting.

When we hold tightly to what we have, we miss the chance to grow something bigger. Generosity, on the other hand, is like planting seeds. It might feel small at first - a gift, a moment of gratitude - but in time, it multiplies. This week, we look at a story Jesus told about a man who though he had it all because of his full barns. But while his wealth grew, his heart didn't. He missed the deeper purpose of what he had been given.

What if generosity is more than giving - it's growing? In Generate, we’ll explore how every act of kindness, sacrifice, or faith has the power to multiply into something lasting.
