Josh smoked 2 slabs of ribs and they paired it with a bottle of 2016 Dry Tomcat Sparkling Wine from Barrel Heaad Winery in Dubuque, IA. This particlure vintage was the Number One Sparkling Wine in the world for 2016 and the winery also had the Number One Sparkling for 2018 & 2019 as well! This week Season 3 premeries on location at the amazing Ernie's Midtown Pub. This hidden gem is located on 5th Ave just off 7th Street in the Midtown District and offers a diverse selection of foods and cocktails sure to peak anyone's interest. This gem came on our radar during Rockford's Restaurant Week and we have been regulars ever since. So when we decided to do a location show for episode one of. this season, Ernie's made sense. Unfortunately location recording is not without issues. so we apologize upfront for video and audio issues.
Being the end of Women's History Month, we thought it would be great to have some local influential Women Leaders as our guest. We are honored that Jennifer Muraski, our newly elected Winnebago County Coroner and. Whitney Martin, Assistant News Director at ABC 17 WTVO and Fox 39 and Morning Anchor at Eyewitness News could give up their time to talk with the 3 of us. This week we have our latest Sit & Sip and we visit After The Vine in Rockton Illinois.
We sampled 5 wines and none disappointed. We tried a Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast called CoPain Ensemble, and it was actually a white that John enjoyed (he's not a big white guy). Then we switched gears to a Malbec from France called Chateau Du Call Cahors. Our next wine was a Pinot Grigio from Gorizia Italy called Borghi Ad Est and then we moved back to California for the other Pinot, a Pinot Noir from Julia James (this was John's favorite). We rounded out the experience with a California Rosé. The 19 Crimes Rose Snoop Dog was a favorite of George & Josh.
After the vine is located at 163 East Hawick St, Rockton, Illinois. They have live music and events weekly. The best way to find out all that is going on is to follow them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ATVRocktonwines or visit their website at

This week's special Sittin' & Sippin' episode is a celebration of National Burger Day. And nothing pairs better with a perfectly cooked burger than great local craft beer! This was truly a treat. Josh played host and invited John & George to his home where he cooked burgers on his new grill/pellet smoker with meat he bought from Rockford's own Pinnons Foods located at 2324 N Court Street Rockford. We paired the burgers with 2 local and one local-ish brewery's best selections. From Prairie Street Brewery(Rockford, IL) we had Oktoberfest, from Pig Minds Brewing Co(Machesney Park, IL) we sampled Vanilla Bitch Slap & from More Brewing Company(Huntley, IL) we tried Morever (John's personal favorite, which is surprising because he doesn't usually like IPA's). Each of these brews complimented the perfectly cooked meat topped with fresh tomatoes from Josh's garden, dill pickle chips, ketchup & mustard served confidently on toasted buns which also came from Pinnons.
