Jesus is the reason for everything we do. We sing, pray, commune, give, and preach in His Name. Our history and our future are centered on Him. Our purpose on earth is to ”do all in the name of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17).” Colossians 1:16-17 says (speaking of Jesus), ”For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” Above all else, our mission is to honor God the Father through Jesus the Son by the help of the Holy Spirit of God. Everything else depends on this.

We’re continuing our study of the book of Acts. This Sunday morning Gary Pendergrass, one of our Shepherds, will preach a lesson from Acts chapter 3. In this chapter Peter and John were going to the Temple to pray and came across a lame man wanting money. Peter gives him healing through the power of Christ, enabling him to walk. No matter how you or I are broken, Christ is able to heal us.
"In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:6-8 (ESV).
Gary will bring us a lesson this Sunday morning on how we can find healing and hope in Christ. May God bless us as we unite together in fellowship and worship.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/22/2023 by Gary Pendergrass.
We looked last week at the beginning of Acts with the resurrected Lord Jesus and the giving of the Holy Spirit. This week we will explore those last few verses of chapter two where we see the life of the church begin. What were they doing? What was their purpose? What do we see in them that we should have in us as the church today?
And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. Acts 2:42-47 (ESV).
Jesus was devoted to doing His Father’s will. The 1st Century church was devoted to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer. May we unite together in devotion to our God and all these things we see in His Word.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/15/2023 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re beginning a new textual sermon series looking at the book of Acts. It’s important to know the Gospel accounts and the story of Jesus’ ministry. The book of Acts begins with the resurrected Lord giving some final instructions.
So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. Acts 1:6-9 (ESV).
The glory and power of God almighty shines in His Church. We, as the Church, have been called to shine the glory of God. Let’s unite together and discover the glory of God in His Church.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/08/2023 by Jimmy Hyde.
This new year presents us with another opportunity to begin a new. There’s a natural desire to improve yourself and your life with a new year. There’re many ways we can all grow and change to improve ourselves. One of the best ways would be to gain wisdom in the new year. Paul gave some interesting insight into his perspective of life as a Christian considering his past in light of him obtaining the resurrection from the dead.
"Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Phil 3:12-14 (ESV).
Let’s join together this Sunday to consider how we can grow in our faith and in wisdom as we live our lives for God.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/01/2023 by Jimmy Hyde.
The Prophet Isaiah and the Apostle John both shared amazing insights into who Jesus was and what He was going to do. Isaiah prophesied about 500 years before Christ. Did Isaiah really see Jesus?
Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him, so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said, “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.” Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him. John 12:37-41 (ESV).
Scripture tells us Isaiah saw Jesus' glory. Let's join together this Sunday and discover what John and Isaiah have to say about Jesus. Can we experience the glory of Christ in our lives today?
Sunday morning sermon on 12/25/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
The prophet Isaiah foretold of Jesus being great, that He would be called the son of God, and that He would reign on David’s throne. Jesus was born a king at His birth.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.” Isaiah 9:6-7 (ESV).
If Jesus is a King, what does that mean to us? If He’s a King, where is His kingdom. Jesus is more than just our Savior, He’s our Lord and King. Is Jesus your King? Let’s join together this Sunday and worship our Christ and King.
Sunday morning sermon on 12/18/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
The prophet Isaiah saw a glimpse into the future of what the Messiah would be. God would send Jesus, God in the flesh, into the world. The Christ was to suffer and to be crushed by the Lord. Why? To bring salvation from sins. To help us overcome the weakness of the flesh and be brought into eternal relationship with God. Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would;
"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. Isa 53:7-10 (ESV).
What a tremendous and mysterious gift we have in Christ. Jesus’ death brought life and we live our lives in the flesh so we can learn how to die like Jesus did.
Sunday morning sermon on 12/11/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday we will continue our new series considering the amazing prophecies of Isaiah and the providence of God through Jesus. Isaiah gave numerous prophecies about the coming Messiah. This lesson fill focus on Jesus bringing light into a world of darkness.
"But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. Isaiah 9:1-2 (ESV).
Jesus is the great light that overcomes darkness. Let’s join together to study what scripture has to say about this and how we can be a conduit to shine the light of our Lord.
Sunday morning sermon on 12/04/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday we begin a new series considering the amazing prophecies and providence of God for our salvation from sin and eternal punishment. Isaiah gave numerous prophecies about a coming Messiah; Immanuel, which means God with us. We’re about to enter a whole month where many in our country and around the world will be thinking about Jesus, God’s one and only Son, coming into the world. Mary asked the angel how this miracle would happen.
"And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy— the Son of God. And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God." And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:35-38 (ESV).
We will join together this Lord’s Day to remember one of the greatest moments of all time; the birth of God in the flesh. Jesus our Lord and Savior.
Sunday morning sermon on 11/27/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday we will consider God’s calling to us through His Word to be thankful. We have so many reasons to be full of gratitude and thanksgiving to God and others in our lives. Paul wrote to the Thessalonian church telling them to give thanks in ALL circumstances. This is God’s will for us that we are always thankful people.
"We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” 1 Thess 5:12-22 (ESV).
Let’s unite together this Sunday morning and evening to express our gratitude and thankfulness to God and our church family.
Sunday morning sermon on 11/20/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This coming Sunday morning we will continue our series on Living Life God’s Way and take a look at what scripture has to say about parenting God’s Way. God created the family. He chose to make a man and a woman come together as one flesh and bear children. When they bring a child into the world, a Husband and Wife instantly become a Dad and Mom. How can parents and grandparents know how to raise their kids and grand kids? Paul makes some interesting remarks about parenting to the Christians in Thessalonica.
"For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers. For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.” 1 Thess 2:9-12 (ESV).
How can we encourage children to walk in a manner worthy of God? How can we labor and toil to bless our kids, grandkids, and any child we have in our lives? Let’s join together this Sunday and unite together as the family of God.
Sunday morning sermon on 11/13/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday morning we will focus on the Resurrection and Commission of Christ in Matthew 28. The Resurrection is essential to our faith and salvation. The Great Commission is essential to our faith and salvation. These two events are connected to each other in Matthew’s concluding chapter with a false Jewish rumor placed in between them in the text. Matthew is intentional with this placement: the Resurrection is part of the Good News to share! Christ’s sacrificial death is imperative for us as Christians, but we must remember that the Good News is that Jesus died and lived. The world will tell us that Christ only died, but we know the truth. Jesus commands his disciples after His Resurrection, and He commands us to tell the world about Him and that He lives. We preach that Christ is raised!
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV).
We all want to do what Jesus says, and we can do it by the Spirit He has given us! Let’s join together and worship our God this morning. Rejoice Church, because Christ lives!
Sunday morning sermon on 11/06/2022 by Kyle Bowman.
This Sunday morning we will continue our series on Living Life God’s Way and take a look at what scripture has to say about family. God created the family all the way back in the beginning of time. Families are a great blessings and at times broken and messy. Families have always had their struggles. The first family, Adam and Eve, lost a son in death because their first born son killed his younger brother. No family in the Bible was without problems. What can we learn from scripture that will help us be the families God wants us to be?
"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Matt 12:33-37 (ESV).
We all want our families to be good and Godly; to live lives blessed by God. Let’s join together this Sunday and consider what the Bible teaches us about family as God intended it.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/30/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday morning we will resume our series on Living Life God’s Way and take a look at what scripture has to say about Marriage. God established marriage and the intimate union where a man and woman become one. Marriage is one of the most rewarding and challenging relationships we have in this life. Paul gives wives and husbands some instructions concerning their relationship.
"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” Eph 5:22-27 (ESV).
We will not only talk about God’s marvelous creation of marriage but we will also talk about those living a single life. May God bless us all as we study His Word and live life His way.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/23/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday morning we will study what the scriptures say about Elders of the Church. We as a church family, under the guidance of our current Shepherds, are considering additional men to serve as Shepherds. This Sunday’s lesson will focus on what the scriptures say about the Overseers or Shepherds of the local church. Here’s what Paul told Timothy.
"The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. 1 Tim 3:1-7 (ESV).
Please be in prayer to God that He will guide our congregation and Shepherds to elect men who can lead our church family.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/16/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re pausing our series on “Living Life God’s Way” for two weeks. We need some more Shepherds and our current Elders are beginning the process of us adding some additional Shepherds. Because of this we will focus on leadership in the Lord’s church this week and Shepherds specifically next week. Leadership is very important but faithful followers are equally important. The Hebrews author tells us...
"Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.” Heb 13:17-19 (ESV).
Let’s join together this Sunday and study God’s Word concerning leaders, followers and doing the work of God.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/09/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re beginning a new sermon series this Sunday morning where we will consider what it means to live life God’s Way. There are many challenges we face trying to live life God’s Way, we struggle against the pressures of the world and it’s influences, we fight against our own flesh and temptation, and sometimes those closest to us affect us in negative ways. God wants us to live our lives as Christ lived His life. Consider the words of Peter in 1 Peter 4:1-6.
"Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. The time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does." 1 Peter 4:1-6 (ESV)
Sometimes we feel like we’re always on the defensive in our Christian life. Peter tells the church to “arm yourselves” with the way Jesus thought. Jesus was on the offensive doing things and causing things. Specifically Jesus was doing all those things that lined up with the Father’s purpose and mission for Him. Let’s join together this Sunday and consider ways we all can grow in living life God’s Way.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/02/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
I don’t have to work very hard to convince you that God is Love and that Jesus’ ministry was all about love; Love for God and love for people. We all know that God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son. John 3:16. We also need to remember that God, and the Lord Jesus, want us to be like our heavenly Father. Our Lord wants us to love like He loves. Why? Because Jesus loves like the Father loves because God is love. John 4:8
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Matt 5:43-48 (ESV).
We should strive to be like our heavenly Father. And by His help and power we are changed to be more and more like Him. Let’s join together this Sunday and grow in our commitment and understanding of God’s Love and how we should love like Him. Let’s follow our Father.
Sunday morning sermon on 09/25/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Last Sunday was the 21st anniversary of 9/11. I preached a lesson last Sunday night about Learning to Love the Light in the Shadow of Darkness. We discussed the Light of Jesus in the face of darkness. This coming Sunday morning we will have a lesson concerning the struggle between light and darkness. And the immediate response by many after the attacks of 9/11. People served, sacrificed, and selflessly gave of themselves. I fear the darkness is growing again and the time has come and will come when we who are the light of Christ can shine His love. John says something interesting in 1 John 2:8 concerning darkness.
"Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes." 1 John 2:7-11 (ESV).
Let’s join together this Lord’s day and recognize the passing of darkness and embrace the light of Christ.
Sunday morning sermon on 09/18/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday Gary will preach a sermon about dealing with difficult situations in life. We all have problems and challenges in life. How should we deal with them? Does the Bible give us any instruction on how to deal with problems and uncertainty? How can we overcome those things that weaken us? Consider the words of Paul to the Christians in Philippians.
"I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Phil 4:10-13 (ESV).
Sunday morning sermon on 09/11/2022 by Gary Pendergrass.
This coming Monday is our national holiday; Labor Day. It’s a special day we celebrate our history of Labor in this country and how it was reformed. We as Christians should celebrate our Labor in the Lord. As followers of Jesus we work in this life a labor of love. This is what Paul said to the church in Thessalonica.
"We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thess 1:2-3 (ESV).
Let’s join together this Sunday and celebrate the Labor of Love that we share in Christ.
Sunday morning sermon on 09/04/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We all want to love God; love Jesus our Lord and Savior. But if we’re honest we struggle with loving God the way He deserves. So we have a constant desire to grow in our love for God. But how do you grow in your love for someone? We must know someone before we can love them. The more we know God the more we are going to love Him. The more we know Christ the more we are going to love Him. Paul expressed this thought in his letter to the Philippians.
"But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Phil 3:7-11 (ESV).
Where does this love for God lead us? When we become all consumed with the love of Christ and want nothing more than relationship with God we discover an insatiable longing to be in heaven with God for all eternity.
Sunday morning sermon on 08/28/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Do you watch or listen to the news? Have you heard any troubling news in the last few months? I guess you could say we’ve had some troubling news for the past several years. There are many sinful bad things happening all the time. Terrible and horrific news comes to us daily about things happening all around us. You’ve probably heard about gruesome murders, deception, theft, disease, wars, and rumors of wars. How can we cope with all this depressing and overwhelming news? How can we as Christians stay positive and remain faithful to our calling. Consider the words of the 46th Psalm.
"Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” Psalm 46:8-11 (ESV).
How can we deal with all this craziness? How should we respond in faith to the extreme sin all around us? Let’s study God’s Word together this Sunday and learn how to be still and know that God is God.
Sunday morning sermon on 08/21/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
If you knew someone was planning on breaking into your neighbors home to murder them would you stay silent in fear that they might not believe you? Maybe they would say that’s ridiculous and your relationship with them would be ruined. Spiritually speaking our neighbors who haven’t obeyed the Gospel are condemned by God. Their eternal lives are lost. God has called us to share the good news of salvation from sin in Jesus Christ. We should never let the fear of hurt feelings, busyness, or rejection keep us from sharing our faith with our neighbors. There’s a sense of urgency with sharing God’s love; Sharing the Gospel. We don’t know when Jesus will return and we don’t know when we will die. So we must be driven by a sense of urgency. Jesus taught His followers:
"Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants!” Luke 12:35-38 ESV
It’s time for us to wake up and see the urgency of God’s love for those around us who don’t have relationship with God through Christ.
Sunday morning sermon on 08/14/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re in a sermon series about fulfilling the greatest commandment. Jesus calls us to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This is our greatest goal in life. Jesus taught the second greatest commandment is like the first; love your neighbor as yourself. God wants us to completely love Him every day and in every way, but we are also called to love the people around us every day and in every way that we can. When the church began in the first century how did Christians live their lives?
“So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47 (NKJV).
How can we be more like Jesus and love our neighbor every day and in every way? Let’s come together this Sunday to worship our God and study His Word.
Sunday morning sermon on 07/31/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We began a sermon series on loving our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus taught us to first, love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Second, Jesus taught us to love people around us as we love ourselves. What’s the greatest way we can love our neighbors? We can share the Gospel with them. When it comes to sharing the Gospel is there a way to be biblically obedient and culturally relevant at the same time? Yes. Let’s consider how Jesus sent out the 72 in Luke chapter 10.
“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.” Luke 10:1-3 (ESV).
There are three things we see that happened when Jesus sent out the 72. Let’s come together this Sunday and study God’s Word on how to love our neighbors and share the Gospel.
Sunday morning sermon on 07/24/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Last week we talked about the greatest command where Jesus said; Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Jesus went on to say; the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. This Sunday we will look at the second greatest command, to love your neighbor as yourself. But have you ever asked yourself; Who’s my neighbor? Someone asked Jesus this very question in Luke chapter 10.
“And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." And he said to him, "You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live." But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Luke 10:25-29 (ESV).
Let’s come together this Sunday morning worshiping our God and studying what the scripture say about who our neighbor is and how we are called to love them.
Sunday morning sermon on 07/17/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re beginning a new series this Sunday on loving our neighbors. The series is based on Jesus answer to the question; “Which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
“And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matt 22:37-40 (ESV).
What does Jesus mean when he says we should love our neighbor as ourselves? Who exactly is our neighbor? Let’s come together this Sunday morning and get into God’s Word and discover the heart of living the greatest commandment in our lives; loving our neighbor.
Sunday morning sermon on 07/10/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re finishing up our series on Poison Control this Sunday. This last lesson will focus on us battling the powerless moments of our lives. We all have many outside forces pressing in on us to give them what they want; a boss, a spouse, our kids, a neighbor, the government. We all experience those times of feeling helpless and overwhelmed with life. How can we deal with these pressures and live the Christian life we want to live and that God has called us to. Paul taught Timothy some important truths about His life in Christ.
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Tim 1:5-7 (ESV).
May we all embrace the spirit of power, love, and self-control that God has given us in Christ. Let’s unite together this Sunday and learn what it means to fan into flame the gift of God that is in us.
Sunday morning sermon on 07/03/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re starting our series again on Poison Control this Sunday. This lesson we will focus on the addictive nature of our flesh. Are you an addict? We see this question and immediately think of an alcoholic or someone struggling with a drug addiction. But let me ask you this; Are you addicted to TV? You might say; No. I don’t have to watch tv, I can stop any time if I want. Really? A day would probably be easy enough, but how about a week with no TV. How do you feel about that idea? The truth is that we all have things in our lives that we love and enjoy. The million dollar question is are they healthy, good things or not? Paul uses the idea of slavery talking about us and our commitments in life.
“Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.” Romans 6:16-18 (ESV).
Don’t worry, this lesson isn’t a call to give up TV, but a focus on living the lives of slavery we’ve been called to in Christ Jesus. We have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God’s righteousness. May God bless us as we live for Him.
Sunday morning sermon on 06/26/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re putting a pause on our Poison Control series to celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday. The message will be simple; God wants us to be like Him. Our goal is to imitate our God and make Him proud. Jesus taught this numerous times. Here’s one example.
You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matt 5:43-48 (ESV).
We not only want to be like God to make Him proud, but for us dads, we are better Fathers when we’re like our heavenly Father. Let’s come together this Sunday morning to celebrate our earthly Fathers and remember our amazing heavenly Father. We are richly blessed by God when we look and see it.
Sunday morning sermon on 06/19/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We are surrounded by poisonous substances. We have to make sure we’re careful when we’re around chemicals and other sources of poison to make sure we don’t become poisoned. Spiritually speaking we equally have things that are poisonous to our spirits and could harm us or even bring death. We need to have an attitude of determined to avoid things that are harmful to us.
"I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will make music. I will ponder the way that is blameless. Oh when will you come to me? I will walk with integrity of heart within my house; I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil. Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.” Psalm 101:1-5 (ESV).
Let’s unite together this Sunday morning to consider how we can avoid harmful spiritual poisons and live healthy spiritual lives in Christ.

How many of you love to garden? Some of you love your flowerbeds. Others love their vegetable garden. Growing things is a lot of work, but is extremely rewarding. We see the analogy of growing things throughout the Bible. Paul uses this analogy to the Christians in Corinth.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-10 (ESV)
This Sunday we will come together to study God’s Word and learn how we can become even greater gardeners and gatherers.
Sunday morning sermon on 06/05/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We have had some very difficult things as a country happen to us recently. There has been a great many evil things happening. The most common questions have been “Why?” and “What are we going to do?” In response to this there has been much debate, discussion, and complete disagreement at times on the answers to those questions. Paul tells us some things to do.
“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be conceited. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:16-21 (ESV).
Let’s come together and get into God’s word on how to deal with the evil around us in our lives today.
Sunday morning sermon on 05/29/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Well, this Sunday morning is our Senior Sunday where we honor our High School graduates and give them a Bible from our church family here at Creekside. For our lesson we will consider how we all are working to grow up and graduate from this life to the next. What are the things we must do as followers of Christ in order to begin that new chapter of our life and go on to live with our God in heaven? Paul says this about himself in his letter to the Philippian Christians.
“For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith — that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Phil 3:8b-11 (ESV).
Let’s join together and encourage our High School graduates as we all grow up to graduation.
Sunday morning sermon on 05/22/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Have you ever been held against your will or been trapped in some way? Most of us have never been a literal slave with a human master but many of us know what it’s like to deal with something more powerful than we are. Have you ever had a bad habit that was difficult to overcome? Well, we all have had to deal with our slavery to sin. Praise God that through Jesus we become His children and heirs with Christ.
In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Galatians 4:3-7 (ESV).
Let’s come together this Sunday morning and remember the terrible life of slavery to sin we used to live and help others find the freedom in Christ we enjoy.
Sunday morning sermon on 05/15/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
“’M’ is for the many things she gave me, ‘O’ means only that she’s growing old...” I learned that song in elementary school. (I even made a third grade-level attempt to write similar lyrics for “FATHER”; hopefully, those will never surface.) As that song reveals, throughout the ages the importance of our mothers has been recognized by nearly everyone. But we have to admit that being a mother is among the hardest jobs there is. Lots of effort, and the rewards aren’t always immediate in coming. (For some reason, most toddlers think the world revolves around themselves.) The value of mothers is almost immeasurable.
This morning, we’ll explore that value and hopefully provide some insight on how we as parents can make our homes everything that God wants it to be. There will also be encouragement for all of us who are part of the larger Christian family to be a godly influence in the lives of children.
Sunday morning sermon on 05/08/2022 by Gary Pendergrass.
This Sunday we will continue our series on Evangelism and the good news. This lesson will focus on the good news we find in the promise of the resurrection. Is the coming resurrection important to you? Why is the resurrection important to us? Paul tells us about an eternal change that’s coming at the last trumpet call of God.
"I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 (ESV).
We talked about the importance of Christ’s death and burial. Now we will join together this Sunday to study scripture concerning the coming resurrection and the great promises waiting for us at that time.
Sunday morning sermon on 05/01/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday we will continue our series on Evangelism. This lesson will focus on the good news found in Jesus’ burial. So what’s the significance of Jesus being dead and buried for 3 days? Wouldn’t it have made a bigger impact if Jesus had been dead and immediately raised back to life? Why did God choose to leave Jesus’ dead body in the tomb for those 3 days.
"After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body. Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight. So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.” John 19:38-42 (ESV).
We typically think of Jesus death on the cross and His resurrection but give little consideration to His burial. The Gospel is Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Let’s join together and get into God’s Word.
Sunday morning sermon on 04/24/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday we will continue our series on Evangelism; the good news of Jesus. This lesson will focus on the good news found in death. We have good news in the literal death of Jesus on the cross. We also will consider the figurative death scripture tells us about in ourselves and in baptism.
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." Romans 6:1-4 (ESV).
Death is usually something we want to avoid. In this lesson we will consider all the ways we should embrace death and how good news can be found in death.
Sunday morning sermon on 04/17/2022 (incomplete) by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday will be our Friends and Family Day. We will have a special adult Bible class in the auditorium. We will define faith, discuss the source of faith, and how it grows. For the sermon during our morning worship we will discuss the many challenges we’ve faced in the past two years, how that’s impacted our faith, and how we can grow our faith in spite of the many challenges we face. All of us who have faith understand that our faith can increase and decrease. A man in the Bible who wanted his son healed begged Jesus to heal his son if He could. Jesus replied...
"If you can! All things are possible for one who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" Mark 9:23-24 (ESV)
If you’re struggling in faith the great news is Jesus can help you in your unbelief. Faith is something we have to work to increase. Paul teaches us to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). What does it mean to “walk by faith, not by sight”? When I’m feeling weak in my faith, how can I strengthen my faith? These questions and more we will seek to answer this Sunday.
Sunday morning sermon on 04/10/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday morning we will begin a new sermon series on evangelism. In this first sermon we will consider what scripture is teaching us about searching for the lost. If someone’s child gets lost somewhere there’s tends to be a quick cry for help to go and search. When it comes to people being lost in their sins we need to remember how desperate our lives were when we were lost in sin. We want to share that great news of how to be found in Christ and so be saved.
Jesus said in Luke 15:4-7... “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance." Luke 15:4-7 (ESV).
Let’s unite together to worship our God and consider how we can faithfully search for and save the lost.
Sunday morning sermon on 04/03/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday morning will be the conclusion to our spiritual war series. We’ve talked a lot about the devil and his forces of evil that work against God. We have also talked about the many losses and gains in the spiritual war that’s all around us. One of the most important facts to remember about this spiritual war is that we already know who’s won. God wins in the end. The devil will be cast down and all those in Christ will be brought to heaven to be with God for all eternity.
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Rev 21:1-4 (ESV)
Let’s join together as we remember our God has won the battle. Sunday morning sermon on 03/27/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
I appreciate our Shepherds looking out for my best interest and giving me a break this Sunday. Our Shepherd Mark Wilhelm will preach this Sunday morning a sermon titled “Lessons from Daniel”. He plans to talk about us serving our God like Daniel did.
Sunday morning sermon on 03/20/2022 by Mark Wilhelm.
This Sunday morning lesson we will consider the power of the Lords Church and how God wants to empower us to do His Will. We must remember that nothing can come between us and our God. When we unite together as His people, He is for us and no one can stand against Christ and His Church. Paul in Romans chapter 8 talks about there being no condemnation in Christ, the Holy Spirit living in us and how He helps us in our weakness. Then Paul goes on to say in verse 31.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised— who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Rom 8:31-35 (ESV).
I look forward to our being together this Sunday and enjoying the love we share together in Christ. God bless your week.
Sunday morning sermon on 03/13/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This Sunday morning we’re going to consider our Call of Duty. We as soldiers of Christ have been called to a specific duty by our Lord. In scripture we can see the commands of the Lord for our lives. Maybe you’ve heard this illustration before; Are we on a cruise ship or a battleship? How should we see our lives? Are we on a pleasure cruise or are we battling against evil or our God? What has Christ called you to do? What does He call us to do collectively?
Jesus said... “Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and recline at table'? Will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink'? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.'" Luke 17:7-10 (ESV).
Let’s get together this Sunday and study God’s Word concerning our Call of Duty.
Sunday morning sermon on 03/06/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
The last two weeks we’ve been talking about the spiritual warfare that surrounds us and that we read about in scripture. We’ve talked about seeing the unseen and working to be prepared to oppose and fight for God and His ways. We also talked a little about the divine weapons that we are called to use against the true enemy of evil and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. This Sunday morning we will consider what it means to train ourselves and work to be ready. Paul told Timothy to train himself in 1 Timothy chapter 4.
“Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” 1 Tim 4:7-10 (ESV)
Let’s join together this Lord’s day to study scripture and determine how we can be train ourselves to do the work the Lord calls us to in His Kingdom.
Sunday morning sermon on 02/27/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Last week we talked about the fact that we are in a spiritual war against the Devil and his forces of evil in the heavenly realms. The war’s been won, but we have many battles to fight. You know how it is. You’re just living life and all of a sudden you’re thrust into a spiritual battle of right and wrong. You have a choice, and then you choose. We must be prepared, as best we can, for these battles that will come. It’s not a matter of if battles will come, it’s when. What do you need to do in order to be prepared?
“For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:28-33 (ESV)
We must count the cost and prepare to engage the enemy. What do you need to do in order to prepare? Let’s join together and consider what God’s word tells us to do in order to be prepared.
Sunday morning sermon on 02/20/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re beginning a new sermon series this Sunday. It’s going to be focused on the spiritual warfare all around us. I heard over the radio a while back the phrase “A Force in Readiness”, referring to our air force. It got me to thinking about us as Christians, soldiers of Christ. We should be a force in readiness. Do you see the Lord’s Church as a powerful force in our live and in the world around us, or do you see the Lord’s church as weak and ineffectual? We are the “body” of Christ, a powerful influential force for God and His goodness. God through His Word calls us to be ready.
“Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you;” 1 Peter 3:13-15 (ESV)
God wants us to always be ready to do His Will. It’s our responsibility to prepare and make ready. The Devil and his forces are at work opposing the Will of our Lord and Savior. Let’s unite together and discover in God’s Word how we can be ready.
Sunday morning sermon on 02/13/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Life can feel complicated and overwhelming at times. Sometimes it’s our perspective that makes things more complicated than they have to be. This Sunday morning I want to invite you to join me in simplifying life. Paul lived a simplified life when it came to his perspective and purpose. He said to the Christians in Philippi.
"But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Phil 3:7-11 (ESV)
Paul deeply desired to know Christ. He had a clear purpose and passion in His life living for Christ. Let’s join together this Sunday to grow in our purpose and passion in living for Jesus our Savior.
Sunday morning sermon on 02/06/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This is our final sermon in this series about leadership in the Lord’s Church. This Sunday we will consider what scripture has to say about the will of God for each of us individually. How do you know what God wants you to do in your life? Sometimes this question is asked in the context of big picture. What type of work should I do for a living? Where should I live? What congregation should I join? Other times the question of God’s will is situational dealing with specific circumstances. Paul gives us some insight into how to answer these questions.
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Rom 12:1-2 (ESV)
How can you and I discern God’s will? We must renew our minds in the Word of God so that He can transform us. Then we must test and discern what is God’s will and what is not. Let’s join together this Sunday and seek to know what God’s will is for our lives.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/30/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Our Shepherds have announced our need for some additional Deacons. We talked last week about the importance of leadership in the Lord’s church. This coming Sunday we will consider the Bible’s teaching not only on Deacons serving in the Lord’s Church but on how we’re all called to be servants. If we want to excel as Christians and to be the best followers of Christ we can be, we must humble ourselves and be servants. The words of Jesus are recorded in Matthew.
"But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:25-28 (ESV)
Let’s come together in study and prayer to consider God’s plan for leadership in the church and what we’re called to do.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/23/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
This is one of those questions where the answer is obvious. Is leadership important? Yes. Consider this, without leadership and others willing to follow you have chaos and anarchy. If every individual lives their life only on what they want to do there is no church. The Greek word for church is ekklesia, which literally means; “the gathered”. The idea is we are the followers of Christ who have gathered together in His name, for His purpose. There’s all kinds of leadership roles in the church. Paul said to the church in Ephesus.
"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” Eph 4:11-14 (NASU).
Leadership is so important, but it may be more than when you typically think of when you hear the word; Leadership. Let’s gather together this Sunday to study God’s word and consider our role as leaders and followers.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/16/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Our perspective in life is so important. How do you see your life? How do you see yourself? What is your perspective of life based on? Paul gives us some insight into how we should walk in this life; how we should live our lives.
"So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.” 2 Cor 5:6-9 (ESV)
Yes, we live by faith, not by sight. But what exactly does that mean? And how does my perspective of life fit into all of that? Let’s come together this Sunday get into God’s Word and worship Him together.
Sunday morning sermon on 01/02/2022 by Jimmy Hyde.
Well, 2021 will soon be behind us and a new year will be here. And what do we typically do in a new year? We like to make “New Year’s Resolutions”. We all have those things we want to change about ourselves. We all want to be better people and make improvements in our lives. So we resolve or commit to changing something in our lives. Question; Does the Bible give us any insight on how we can become better Christians? Consider the words of Paul to the Christians at Philippi.
"Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil 3:13-14 (ESV)
Here Paul shares some personal ways he lives his Christian life. Let’s join together this Sunday morning and consider how we can learn from Paul in this passage and be better followers of Christ. God bless you and your family.
Sunday morning sermon on 12/26/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
Have you ever gone looking for Jesus? Most of the time it’s when we’ve hit a wall or something terrible has happened to us. When we sense our need for Jesus we should go looking for Him. This was the case in the life of John the Baptist, Andrew, and Simon Peter.
"The next day again John (the Baptist) was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, "What are you seeking?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come and you will see." So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means Christ)". John 1:35-41 (ESV).
Jesus our marvelous Messiah came to save us and heal us from our sins. Let’s join together this Sunday morning to consider Jesus as our Messiah and what that means to us today.
Sunday morning sermon on 12/19/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
What would you be willing to sacrifice in order to save someone in danger? Your time, your money, maybe even your own personal safety or life. Would you be willing to let your child suffer, be made fun of, and ultimately be murdered? I can’t imagine what it would be like to give up one of my children to save an enemy and yet that is exactly what God did. God the Father sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to be our Savior.
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.” 1 John 4:11-14 (ESV).
Our God loves us with a tremendous love. I look forward to being with you as we worship our God and Savior together.

None of us like to feel anxious or worried, right? Whether it’s about your job security, your kids well fair, or your own personal sanity we all want to feel at peace. We all desire to feel safe and secure in our lives. Unfortunately we all have things that happen in life that threaten our safety and security. But what if we could have peace, feeling safe and secure, no matter what’s happening in our lives? This is what Paul points to in his letter to the Christians in Philippi.
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:4-7 (ESV).
Let’s unite together to study God’s Word and pursue this perfect peace that God provides.

Have you ever been in the dark? All of us have had those moments trying to walk in the dark. It’s only a matter of time before you trip, stumble, or hurt yourself. We all can agree that, when it’s dark, light is what we need. Jesus is our light in life. In Isaiah chapter 9 we see a prophecy of Jesus being a light to the world.
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. 3 You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil.” Isaiah 9:2 (ESV)
Let’s join together to study God’s Word and worship our God as the light of our lives.
Sunday morning sermon on 11/28/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
This coming Thursday is our national day of Thanksgiving. I know not everyone in America will look to God with thankfulness, but what a blessing for us to live in a country that recognizes a day of giving thanks to God. We have so many blessings to be thankful for from God. We have many physical blessings as well as spiritual blessings. Regardless of whether times are good or bad we can always find thankfulness for our good God who has given us so much.
"And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ." Eph 5:18-21 (ESV)
We should always be filled with thankfulness toward God for everything He has given us. Let’s unite together this Lord’s day in praise of gratitude toward our great God.
Sunday morning sermon on 11/21/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
How Do You See God? None of us have seen God but all of us have an impression of what God is like. How do you view God? What do you think He is like? Is God like a policeman waiting to catch us speeding? Is God like a butler waiting to serve us? Maybe we see God as a sweet old grandpa rocking in his chair on the front porch watching us from a distance? If these views of God are wrong, how should we see Him?
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:7-9 (ESV)
We should see God for who He is; A loving God who has given us so much. Let’s join together this Sunday to grow in our understanding and perspective of who God is in our lives today .
Sunday morning sermon on 11/14/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
Have you ever been really, really, thirsty? Have you ever been really hot, sweaty and extremely thirsty. How good does it feel to get that long cold drink of water? Spiritually speaking we get thirsty. Jesus talked a lot about thirst and that He would be able to quench our thirst and not in a physical way. In John 4:13 Jesus tells a Samaritan woman about never thirsting again.
"Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:13-14 (ESV)
Our physical bodies need water. What does the spiritual part of our body need? Let’s get together this Sunday and study God’s Word on how we can quench our thirst in Jesus.
Sunday morning sermon on 11/07/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
The Bible clearly teaches us that there is a Holy Spirit. But who is the Holy Spirit? What’s the purpose of the Holy Spirit in my life today? What does He do exactly? There are several scriptures that tell us what the Holy Spirit does. Now there are some things that the Holy Spirit did that were limited to the time of the Apostles, but there are teachings about what the Holy Spirit does even today. Paul wrote to the Jewish and Gentile Christians in Rome;
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." Romans 15:13 (ESV)
Here Paul ascribes the overflowing of hope to the power of the Holy Spirit. Why should we trust in God who fills us with all joy and peace? So we can overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/31/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
Bread comes in many forms and has always been a foundation for civilization in history. Every society depends on their bread for basic survival and prosperity. This truth is reflected in the words that Jesus spoke when He said: “Man shall not live by bread alone.” And Jesus in His model prayer taught us to ask God to “give us this day our daily bread”. We need bread or daily food to feed our flesh and be healthy. We need the Holy Spirit in our lives to be healthy. God has given us a special gift that we should not misuse or abuse. Paul tells us there are things that can make the Holy Spirit grieve if we have them in our lives.
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:30-32 (ESV)
The Holy Spirit is an important part of our God that we need to honor and recognize in our lives. Let’s unite together and study God’s Word to learn about this Holy Spirit in our lives.
Sunday morning sermon on 10/24/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
God works in mysterious ways that are difficult for us to understand many times (Isaiah 55:8-9). One of those ways is the work of God’s Spirit. Specifically this coming Sunday morning we will look at what the scriptures have to say about Holy Spirit living inside us. John says:
"By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:13-17 (ESV)
Sunday morning sermon on 10/17/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
All this year we’ve had the theme of Getting to Know God Better. We’ve talked about God the Father and the many Hebrew names of God. We’ve talked about Jesus, the Son and who He is to us. We now will consider the Holy Spirit. If were honest, we struggle with talking about the Holy Spirit. Partly because we disagree sometimes on certain aspects of the Holy Spirit, mostly we are intimidated with the topic of who the Holy Spirit is and what He does. But we know this for certain; The Holy Spirit is a gift from God.
"And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself." Acts 2:38-39 (ESV).
The Holy Spirit is not only a gift from God that we receive in baptism, but the Holy Spirit is God himself for there is only one God. “There is one body and one Spirit just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Eph 4:4-7 (ESV).
Sunday morning sermon on 10/10/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
Most likely, we’ve all heard the fact that God is righteous and just. But what exactly does that mean? God is completely right; all the time. He is never wrong. That’s hard for me to imagine and grasp because I know how many times I’ve gotten it wrong. I know how many times I’ve done wrong. God has never once done wrong. He is completely righteous and just. He always insures, in His authority, to impart justice and do what’s right. David wrote about God’s powerful righteousness and Justice.
“The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! 2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 3 Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. 4 His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. 5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. 6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory." Psalm 97:1-6 (ESV)

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?” Luke 15:4 (ESV). Sunday morning sermon on 09/26/2021 by Gary Pendergrass.
There are so many things constantly changing in our lives. Our relationships, our finances, our jobs, our health are always in a state of flux. Even though our lives seem to constantly be changing, one thing is always constant. Our God never changes. What is the significance of our God being constant and never changing? He is completely faithful and we can always depend on Him. We can always turn to Him when we’re in trouble. He will never let us down. Lastly, we can possess peace, in Him, because He is never changing.
“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.” Ps 102:25-27 (ESV).
Sunday morning sermon on 09/19/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
All this year we’ve been trying to get to know our God better. We’ve looked at the Hebrew names of God, we’ve looked at Jesus as our savior and redeemer, and we will look at the Holy Spirit this fall. This Sunday we will consider how our God is Sovereign. Sovereignty is something we struggle with understanding. We live in a place with shared power, responsibility, and authority. But for the Kingdom of God he is the supreme and sovereign authority. We see this truth revealed by John.
“To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." Rev 1:5-8 (ESV)
Sunday morning sermon on 09/12/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
What would you consider to be the makeup of a perfect family? As a result of our childhood home lives, many of us dreamed about what it would be like when we finally have an opportunity to build a family of our own. We recognize the imperfections in whatever environment we were raised (family or a lack thereof), so we ponder the possibilities for our relationships with future loved ones and aspire for more than what we had. Some of us go as far as developing expectations of his or her spouse, number of kids, location, where family vacations will be spent, and so on; thus, causing unforeseen challenges when family life does not transpire the way we had hoped.
With no known exception, families are as unpredictable as they are imperfect. The materials that make up a marriage are a husband and a wife (those who are joined together by God as one flesh [Gen2:24]). As the materials change and make mistakes, that family becomes transparently imperfect. The same is true when considering the parent/child relationships or sibling relationships. The materials are always changing, especially when brokenness due to loss or separation is thrown into the mix.
Since God’s family is made up of imperfect family units who are in various stages of life, God’s family collectively can at times be the most dysfunctional family of them all. This was true during the times past when Israel was God’s bride (Ezekiel 16), and it is certainly true now as the church serves as the bride of Christ. So, as we think about the makeup of a “perfect” family (hopefully maturing our views into a biblical perspective), let us be gracious with ourselves as we learn and grow. Whether we are striving to be a healthier part of our individual families or God’s family, remember that God does not expect perfection, He expects growth. Otherwise, there would have been no reason for Him to send His Son. The makeup of a perfect family is not a family who appears to be void of blemishes, it is a family whose members are covered by the blood of Christ.
Sunday morning sermon on 09/05/2021 by Sage Bridges.
It’s interesting, before Covid most complained that life was too busy and we had very little to no down time. After Covid we’ve had a lot of time at home and less time out doing stuff. I bring this up because regardless of how busy or boring your life is we all need alone time with God. Jesus spent a lot of time in prayer with the Father. In Luke chapter 5 after healing a leaper we read this about Jesus:
“However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” Luke 5:15-16 (NKJV)
Luke tells us that Jesus withdrew into the wilderness often to pray. He spent time alone with God more than just every once in a while. Jesus prayed to His Father often. We too need to spend more alone time in prayer with our heavenly Father. Let’s join together this Sunday morning and consider the reasons this is so.
Sunday morning sermon on 08/29/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
What does it mean for us to receive grace from God? The Bible is filled with passages about God’s grace. Has God been gracious toward you? How do you feel about the Grace God has given to you? Sometimes I think we don’t appreciate or even recognize the things we have received because of God’s grace toward us. This was true for Jonah. As a matter of fact, Jonah was angry about God’s grace given to the Ninevites.
“But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. And he prayed to the Lord and said, "O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster. Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live." Jonah 4:1-3 (ESV)
Jonah had a bad attitude and struggled with his anger, but God was extremely gracious toward Jonah. Let’s get together this Sunday and consider God’s grace toward us.
Sunday morning sermon on 08/22/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
What does it mean to be guided by God? How does God guide us? Well, we all would agree God guides us through His Word. But does God influence our direction in life outside of reading and knowing His Word? I would say yes. We have numerous examples in the Bible of how God caused things to happen in order to motivate and lead His children to do His Will. Jonah is a great example. God gave His Word to Jonah, but Jonah didn’t want to obey.
“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me." But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went on board, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord. But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up.” Jonah 1:2-4 (ESV).

Sunday morning sermon on 08/08/2021 by Gary Pendergrass.
Through the testimonies of Jesus’s life recorded in the Gospel of John, Jesus is trying to prove to us that He is worthy of our trust because of His fulfillment as the Messiah (John 20:30, 31). He said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31). If we are able to continue to put our trust in uncertain places, then it should not be so difficult to put our trust in Jesus. If we believe in him, then we are believing in someone who has succeeded without a single failure. That is more than we can say for any other person, place, or thing that has captured our trust thus far in our lives. Believe in Him to protect what really matters – our eternal inheritance (1 Peter 1:3-5) and He will not fail you.

What does it mean to be “Enthusiastic”? Most of the time we think this just means someone is really excited or really passionate about something specific. The Etymology or history of the word, Enthusiasm, is based on Latin. The base of this word is two parts: “En” meaning “in” and “Theos” meaning “God”. The idea is of God in you. John affirms this idea of God in us.
“By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:13-16 (ESV)

Do you ever feel powerless? Sometimes we feel like we can conquer the world and other times we feel overwhelmed and helpless. You and I, as God’s people, are powerful. God has given us a spirit of power that sometimes needs to be fanned into flame. Paul reminding Timothy of his mother’s and grandmother’s faith said to Timothy...
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,” 2 Tim 1:6-8 (ESV).
Sunday morning sermon on 07/18/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
We are all tempted by the inclination to be lazy or “idle.” Paul teaches us that becoming an idle person is not only against the traditions that the Apostles left behind, but it is a fellowship issue that should not go unchecked in our congregations. How can we overcome this temptation? 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
Sunday morning sermon on 07/11/2021 by Sage Bridges.
This Sunday is July 4th, our country’s independence day. A day we celebrate our freedom as a nation. Freedom is something we all want in our lives. But exactly what is freedom? Anytime we are trapped or enslaved by something we long to be set free. For us as Christians we have found the greatest freedom. In Christ, we have been set free from sin.
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God." Romans 8:18-21 ESV
Sunday morning sermon on 07/04/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
A few weeks ago we looked at Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and how He is a triumphant King. We then looked at Jesus as a crucified King. This Sunday we will consider Jesus as a Resurrected King. Why did Jesus have to die and be raised back to life again? Does the resurrection of Christ impact our lives today? Consider these words from Jesus.
"The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.” John 12:23-26 ESV

In this lesson we will look at God and how He is our perfect example of a great Father. We will also look at Samuel and the fatherly figure he was for Israel and how God worked through him. Samuel was a Godly father figure who loved Israel and pointed them to God constantly. We all need Godly men in our lives who will love us like God loves us and point us to Him in our everyday lives. “Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.” 1 Sam 12:24-25

This Sunday we will look at Jesus as a King on the cross. Have you ever wondered why Pilate put the sign above Jesus’ head on the cross?
“Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews." Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek. So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but rather, 'This man said, I am King of the Jews.'" Pilate answered, "What I have written I have written." John 19:19-22 (ESV)

This is the last lesson in our series Jesus; Prophet, Priest, and King. We talked about how Jesus is our prophet sent by God with a message for us. We talked about how Jesus is our High Priest who mediates between us and God. In this lesson we will consider what the scriptures say about Jesus being our King. This lesson will answer why Jesus rode into Jerusalem as a King on a donkey, why people where excited and shouting; “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord.”, and why Jesus wept when He approached the city. Matthew 21:6-10. Sunday morning sermon on 06/06/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
Memorial Day is a special day when we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. This same sacrificial love that we honor on Memorial day we see in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We in response to Christ’s love want to give love and honor to Him. Love drives us to act. How can we use our love for God to motivate us to act in faith? How does God want us to love Him? How can we grow in our love for God? This lesson seeks to answer these questions and more. John 15:9-14. Sunday morning sermon on 05/30/2021, by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re focusing on getting to know God better this year. What does scripture say about Jesus being our High Priest? Let’s consider these questions; What does a priest do? Who is Melchizedek? Why is Jesus called our “High Priest”, and what are the benefits of Jesus being our High Priest? God sent His Son to love us, serve us, and save us as a mediator between God and us. Hebrews 4:14-16. Sunday morning sermon on 05/23/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
We're putting our series, Getting to Know God Better, off for this Sunday. We will be honoring our High School graduates so I thought we could talk about a very relevant topic for them; Change. We all experience change and truly need change in our lives. But let's be honest, we don't like thinking about change. Change is difficult and very rarely easy. Christ calls us to change in our Christian walk with Him; to become more and more like Him. Jesus called his disciples to turn and be changed. Matthew 18:1-3 . Sunday morning sermon on 05/16/2021, by Jimmy Hyde.
We’re focusing on getting to know God better this year. We will focus on Jesus and how the scriptures talk about Him being a prophet. We will answer these questions; What is a prophet? Did God send Jesus as a prophet? Is there any prophecy that predicted Jesus becoming a prophet? Are there prophets for God today? Acts 3:22-26. Sunday morning sermon on 05/02/2021 by Jimmy Hyde.
