Another scene from within the story, is part of the poetic novel the trio created in the summer at the cottage. Performed at The Cockton by Ace. Though an intense scene this is only one element of the story, introducing one level of the plot and one character.
In all, the story is alive with life and difference written in a Shakespearian style.

Tin grew up inside the most unconventional of homes. A studio actually, one of movement, where a dance troop resided, from which he was conceived and brought through 17 years of life. Unlike most of us with at least one parent, he had a troop of parents but none took full ownership of his origins. He did not know from whom he came. But now it was time for some answers.

Nancy Thurow Founded CTM in 1965 with two friends from a communication arts fraternity in response to the elimination of creative drama from Madison public schools. Nancy wrote many of her own plays adapted from children’s literature, and often served as director.
The play “Marmalade” was originally written for Nancy and Emily was a character she loved dearly. This tribute to her, now crosses the original script with my memories of the time I spent as an actor under the direction of Nancy Thurow.

Artists tend to live close to the surface in life, in the dirt and emotions. As a stage actor when our set was built and ready for performance we were told to “own it, know it”. And we did by crawling and rolling and kneeling on every inch of that set.
This is true for the character of Mammoth, he lives close to the surface to know “the set”. From there he is able to capture the essence of the subject, the character. He then frames it and shares that view with the world.
