It was yet another week of typical Sunday things at Hindmarsh. For whatever reason, we (and I mean Adelaide United) just can’t make it work on Sundays, as the Reds went down to Newcastle 3-2.

Forest are on track to give themselves a shot at a 3rd European cup next season if they keep this up, 3rd place for a side that straddled the cusp of relegation the season previous. Wolves worries are enhanced after another failure to win, the upcoming fixture with Southampton, looms large as a much needed 3 points. Ipswich are also winless, still, after some gallant performances of late, they still can’t find the result - Jordan Ayew the villain, as Lester stepped up right at the end.

Another Adelaide young gun produces a magical moment at Hindmarsh, with Irankunda smashing home a 92nd minute winner against the Mariners. The women's team got a big 3-0 win over Melbourne Victory, with Worts' hattrick ensuring we play finals football for the first time. We also took the opportunity to take yet another dig at Arnie, this time over his reluctance to cap a young Serie A product currently playing under Jose Mourinho.
Tommy was a little down early on. We postponed the pod by a day after to allow for mourning over Bielsa's departure from Leeds. The Carabao Cup final was an absolute cracker of the highest quality, and there was also some interesting twists and turns in the race for the fourth Champions League spot in England.

Adelaide stole a point away to top of the table Melbourne Victory over the weekend, and there was a bit to discuss in the way of transfer rumours. Newcastle made some moves, Serie A had some goals, FA Cup came and went, and the AFCON got underway in yet another busy, busy week of football.
We sat down for a late night ramble about Adelaide's home FFA Cup defeat to Melbourne Victory, which turned into more of a grumble about the certain individuals, the squad as a whole, and some of the toxicity of fans at Hindmarsh.
It's a new year and Adelaide are CLEARLY the most inform team in the A-League, being the only side to win all year!
Sam got pretty salty about Manchester City's win at the Emirates, Tom got pretty salty about postponements or lack of postponements, and we all got salty about the Guardian's list of the 100 best male footballers in 2021.
This week it was referees, covid, and our very own Adelaide United in the firing line. The reds suck, refs suck, covid sucks, and since we're talking about all things sucky, we thought we should also mention Graham Arnold.

Wowzers, there's a lot of football news to have a swing at this week. Adelaide marched on in the FFA Cup while losing one of it's young guns, and CCM get completely neglected by the new A-League ad campaign. The Newcastle takeover stories keep rolling in, and there was plenty of actual football to talk about in England and Italy, including the top 10 African strikers in the Premier League era.

There was a lot to whinge about this week. We shared some quick thoughts on why the Fifa games aren't what they used to be, the Sydney Socceroos and their leaky backline, Graham Arnold thinking NSW owns football in Australia, and the pointlessness of WC Qualifiers and the Nations League.
Watford are sacking everyone! Nobody is safe! Hopefully Ranieri is safe. Is Ted Lasso safe? Probably. Another big week of football to discuss including the failings of PSG, Old Trafford resembling a loungeroom fort made from cushions, and the big Saudi takeover of Newcastle United.

Australia's very own Jarred Gillet became the first non British or Irish referee to take centre stage in a Premier League fixture, Penandes kicked a ball to the moon, and City turned it all the way up in another cracking weekend of football action.

VARs a bore so we spent an inordinate amount of time on it; Ronaldo continues to eclipse his nemesis, Chelsea and Liverpool are prestigeing each other and France continues to resemble a northern suburbs house party.
Yes, that's right; even Swindon got a mention this week! So much happened across the English top flight and amongst the return of Champions League Football. Can they do it on an autumn night in Brugge? Probably not. Can CR7 do it on an autumn night in Switzerland? Kind of.

Wowee. Was this week a grind or what? We struggled to find things to talk about during the dullest of dull international breaks. Luckily the Socceroos are amazing, wiping aside the giants of Vietnam and whacking 3 past China. We also had a bit of a chuckle about the farcical scenes in Brazil where abductions and deportations mingled with football.
It was a big transfer deadline day with some interesting moves, some not so interesting. The first Old Firm game of the season whizzed by in an open affair, and Arsenal continue to baffle the world (and probably the universe).
Bottles were thrown and players were kicked in France, while another glorious week of top flight footy in England was carried out. We covered some (not all) of it, while avoiding google fact checks, and for once having something positive to say about football refereeing.

The new season is upon us! We took a week off then came back to record a mammoth pod with all the noteworthy transfers from across Europe, and delved into our picks for the English top flight as well as who will be battling it out at the bottom. And let's not forget the biggest transfer of the last twenty years, Leo Messi moving to PSG. Eeeeerrrrmaaaaahhhggggeeeeerrrrdddd!
Well, our ability to record decent audio quality was about as good as the Olyroo's footballing quality against Egypt. What a disaster! The final of the Euros has arrived, and only 1 year late. We preview the final while ranting about flopping in football, and we also selected our team of the tournament. Who would make your Euro XI?
The King of Adelaide, Craig Goodwin signs on for another year with the Reds and there were plenty of other player movements as well. The Olyroos prepare for a tough Olympics in Tokyo with Argentina, Spain, and Egypt, and the Socceroos have found out who they'll need to squeeze past to qualify for the Qatar World Cup (do we even want to go?). All that plus a little bit of Ange Postecoglu watch as he takes on a mammoth job in hostile territory.
The group of death has died, and just like that the World Champs, and the European Champs are out of the tournament. The football was (mostly) great again, as the race for Euro glory comes down to the final 8.
The Reds do us proud, slipping out of A-League contention with a heart-breaking 2-1 loss away to Sydney. We had a quick chat about the game itself and how we feel about the squad going forward.

The last bits of club football were played over the weekend, and the Euros are nearly (finally) here. We had a chat about the Uefa Champions Final, and then got stuck into a discussion about who the winners and losers will be in groups A and B at the upcoming European Championships.

Against better advice and with an evening of drinks under the belt, we ignored all highlights, replays and any form of professional analysis, to sit down shortly after the final whistle and discuss an emphatic 3-1 win to the Reds on a gorgeous Wednesday night at Hindmarsh.

Pre-Season is over and round 1 is just around the corner for all the amateur footballers out there, and our resident Sunday leaguer airs his thoughts on the final week of training before it all kicks off. We went into Adelaide's disappointing performance on the Central Coast, revelled in the continuing demise of Melbourne Victory, and dissected the action across Europe, plus an unexpected trip into African Champions League style football... somehow.
