Welcome to the Floating Experiment, I’m your host, Kim Kogane and this podcast is meant to be a moment of pause in your busy day. After closing my jewelry company of 10 years, I’m leaving everything I’ve known behind and embarking on a journey to embrace an entirely new way of being. One filled with more joy and without expectations. We’re going to truly embrace what it means to be human. We’ll float through and explore all kinds of feelings on this show. I’ll share the perspective of my Inner Voice and then share what I’m going through as Kim the human. My hope is that you feel like you’re having coffee with a friend. I’m here for you, and together we can create a fun and supportive community full of deep and real conversations. It’s going to be adventure, full of mistakes, messy moments, lots of laughs and maybe even tears. I hope you’ll join me as I learn to float and explore the emotional mess that is being human. This is The Floating Experiment.
I’m sharing some updates on my dreamy early morning routine, and then I dive into what happened when I went on my first solo overnight backpacking trip. Well, I wasn’t completely alone because I brought Cauchy with me but I didn’t see another human out on the trail. I talk about a “cheetah in still mode” versus a “cheetah in action mode” and my plans for the rest of the month. If you find yourself in transition and are ready to soften and allow instead of controlling and taking action, then this is right up your alley!

I recorded this episode while Mercury was in retrograde and am using this opportunity to reflect on what’s been working for me in my life and what I can release. I spend some time talking about big life changes, how we’re meant to grow and shift throughout our lives. Life is short and you’re meant to experience all of it: the highs, the lows, all the goodness, and all the discomfort. If you’re in a life transition, then this episode would be a great listen for you.

[8:16] You can always pivot if things feel too uncomfortable
[8:31] Relationships are fluid and aren’t meant to stay one way
[8:41] Some things will fall away when they no longer fit. It’s important to grieve these losses.

I’m podcasting from a very special location today! You’ll have to listen to find out exactly where I am. I share what I’m doing, how it flowed for me to travel, and my thoughts on the mind’s judgment. My favorite line from this episode is when I say “the universe doesn’t care whether you eat a cheeseburger or salad.” Which is so true! There are no right or wrong choices, simply infinite possibilities of how we get to experience our lives. If you’re feeling stuck in your mind’s judgment and the “shoulds” of life, I encourage you to listen to this episode.

In this episode, I share what’s been on my mind lately which is the feeling of being alone. It’s something that I’ve carried with me since I was young. I talk about fate versus free will and explore the idea that maybe what we’re feeling is intentional and points us towards something we need to call in. There are a lot of things outside of our control in the world, but we get to choose our thoughts and how we view the world around us. I encourage you to give this episode a listen if you’re feeling the pull to dive deeper and confront your own feelings that might be guiding you towards something important.

Welcome to the very first episode of the Kim Kogane Show! We said goodbye to the Floating Experiment last time we chatted, and I’m excited for this new iteration of the podcast. Today I’m exploring why it is hard to be celebrated as I record this episode on my birthday. I’m spending time this summer exploring what it’s like to have more time and space to just be and letting go of the need to be productive 24/7.
I talk about how it’s important to be able to name what we want in order to be able to pursue what we truly desire. After a year of transition, I’m excited to dive even deeper and stop living in the “shallow end” of life. I’m inviting in the courage to be even more vulnerable and share more of myself.
I end by inviting you to have the courage to chase your dreams, and I’m always here to share what I’m going through in the hope that you feel less alone.

Today I talk to Beth Hewitt of Visualise You. Beth defines herself as a spiritual performance coach, using visualization techniques to help people to find their calling and to realize their soul’s purpose. She used to work in the corporate world but didn’t find satisfaction in her 9 to 5 life, and eventually she drew on her past experiences to launch her own business, marrying intuition and spirituality with wisdom from her corporate background.
Beth begins by talking about the approach she takes with each of her clients, which is highly individualized and tailored to each of their needs. She explains her visualization process, which has gratitude as a foundation to allow you to appreciate what you have before you open the door to whatever comes next. Next, Beth lays out the pathway that she gives to her clients to help them to achieve their dreams, which can involve quitting your job or making small changes to your life that gradually move you closer to your ultimate vision.
We also dive into different techniques around writing a “To Do” list, a tool that can help you to align yourself with your vision. Beth gives a great “To Do” technique which will help you to focus only on the essentials. Listen out as well for Beth’s tips on leaving a corporate job and transitioning into working for yourself, which could really help you if this is part of your vision for your future.

On this episode of The Floating Experiment, I interview Maria, a creativity guide and artist. She is the founder of The Philosopher’s Stem, where she draws out the latent creativity and sense of playfulness that we’ve stamped down inside our adult selves. When working with a client, she sets goals or deadlines to hold the person accountable and to give them motivation to pursue their creativity. She also provides positive feedback to highlight the most promising aspects of her clients’ work, to help them overcome their negative inner critic voices.
Together, Maria and I discuss the ins and outs of a creative life, from what creativity actually is, to how exercising creativity ties in deeply with our sense of wellbeing. She also outlines what the role of a creativity guide is and how a creativity guide can help you overcome your creative blocks. Maria believes that creativity is a muscle and should be treated as an exercise, where you give yourself permission to warm up and have a few bad attempts before you launch into your main project. We should value these bad attempts as part of the process, rather than beating ourselves up for not being perfect the first time round.
Listen out to the end of the episode to discover what Maria’s most recent creative projects are, and her advice on how to make space in your life for your creativity.
Please subscribe to the podcast for more interviews with passionate, creative individuals and share this episode with someone you know who’s struggling with a creative roadblock in their life.

On today’s episode, I chat with the inspiring Eos, a soulful web designer and business coach. Originally from Switzerland, Eos moved to Menorca with her multicultural family, where she runs her business. Eos brings a purposeful and spiritual edge to website design, helping other businesses to achieve their goals through the means of a beautifully crafted website.
Eos and I start out by discussing how a website can be a manifestation tool. Manifestation is becoming more of a mainstream idea, but many people believe that it’s still a little out there. However, Eos defines manifestation as a magnet for the things that you want in your life, whether that’s in your job, your relationship or something else entirely. This magnet begins with trusting yourself to know what’s best for you, and then following your own vision for your life. Eos walked me through her Highest Timeline Exercise, which can help you to develop your vision and to work out what’s important for you in the future, even if that goes against what others want or expect you to do.
We also cover Eos’ three layers of the self, which puts self-leadership at the top of the pyramid. Self-leadership is directing yourself to achieve the things you want, by making small choices now that take you in the direction that you want to go. Eos also offers a coaching program to help people position themselves for self-leadership, which you can find out more about on her website.
