In the Christian church, the Pharisees are often seen as the epitome of hypocrisy.-- the essence of all that is wrong with Judaism. But what if Jesus' teachings were borrowed straight from the traditional writings of these rabbis? What if Jesus wasn't teaching something "new" but something "true" that had always existed in the sacred teachings of these Jewish sages. Kathy and Gary demonstrate how Jesus' teaching flowed in the stream of Pharisaic teaching of his day. Placing his teachings in their proper perspective and context hopefully chips away at underlying anti-Jewish messaging in the Christian church.
Christianity is generally focused on right thinking to determine who's in and who's out. Therefore doctrines and creeds are at the core of what it means to be a Christian. Throughout the history of the church, heresy (wrong thinking) has been dealt with swiftly and often violently. Whose job is it to determine is a belief is heretical? Do we have a 21st century version of "burning heretics at the stake"?

The doctrine of Replacement Theology has infected much of the Christian church resulting in centuries of institutional church persecution of the Jews. Replacement theology is a popular doctrine within the church that essentially teaches that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plans of redemption for the world. According to this doctrine, the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people, and God does not have specific future plans for the nation of Israel. Has the doctrine of Replacement theology contributed to the anti-Jew, anti- Israel sentiments that we see in our world today?
The Israeli- Palestinian conflict is inundated with deceptions and outright lies causing confusion among supporters and detractors of Israel. Now more than ever, Biblical, geo-political, and historical truth is needed to enable Americans to choose between blessing and cursing Israel. This may be the most important decision we have ever made.
What exactly is a kingdom? How can we as a 21st century believers living in a nation that prides itself on not being a Kingdom-a nation that literally was birthed in opposition to the idea of a king and a kingdom– actually understand what Yeshua was talking about when He said “Thy Kingdom come… ” More importantly, how can we prepare ourselves for life as citizens of God’s kingdom? What does the fulfillment of this prophecy mean for believers today?
We all know that in times of trouble, the most natural human response is to want that which is causing pain to be removed– or for us to be removed from that which is causing pain. Rarely, would we voluntarily choose to stay in the midst of it. And yet, the God of Israel almost always allows us to remain smack in the middle of pain, trouble, and hardship. But what about the Biblical pattern of Goshen- the safe place God provided for the Israelites right in the middle of Egypt? Can we expect a "Goshen" in times of trouble? What will it look like and how will we find it?
Yeshua is the Torah! The Torah is still in effect and followers of Yeshua would be wise to acknowledge it and act accordingly. How it must pain Yeshua to hear those who love Him say “The Torah has been abolished.” Everything about his life, death and resurrection proves otherwise. The church has had blinders on for over 2000 years as the enemy of our souls has convinced us that obedience to God’s word is somehow a sin.
In this episode, Kathy and Gary talk about the Biblical holiday known as The Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot in Hebrew. They also consider the interesting connections between this holy day and the American holiday of Thanksgiving. The men and women who founded our nation did so with a deep and abiding respect for the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Much of what we know as traditional American values are really Biblical values and much of what we know as American law and justice is actually based on the Torah.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17)
These words of Jesus are probably the most widely ignored, misunderstood, or distorted by the church. Why do many Christians try to use the words of the Apostle Paul to deny the words of Jesus? Peter warned that Paul's words could be distorted by people to support their own doctrine. Kathy and Gary discuss some of Paul's words that are commonly used to deny the plain words of Jesus.
In a second part of a two-part series on Deitrich Bonhoeffer, Kathy and Gary discuss the concept of "cheap grace." Bonhoeffer wrote: "Cheap grace is the deadly enemy of the church...Having laid hold of cheap grace, they ae barred forever from the knowledge of costly grace. Deceived and weakened, men felt that they were strong now that they are in possession of cheap grace-whereas they had in fact lost the power to live the life of discipleship and obedience." Kathy and Gary also show how the modern concept of the "seeker-friendly church' is an extension of Bonhoeffer's idea of cheap grace.
Nikola Tesla once said: “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration. Kathy uses a basic scientific understanding of energy, frequency and vibration to help explain the power of God's word.
In the late 1930's and early 1940's, there was very little opposition from the German church against Hitler and the rise of Nazism. Going against the tide, Deitrich Bonhoeffer preached it was not enough to follow Christ by preaching and praying. He unapologetically called for Christian action and, if need be, self-sacrifice in order to stop the atrocities against the Jews. Believing that Christian self-righteousness and complacency set the stage for the rise of Nazism, Bonhoeffer died trying to right the wrongs. In this episode, Kathy and Gary discuss the state of the Christian church in Nazi Germany, Bonhoeffer's willingness to stand up to the church's apathy, and the consequences of anti-Judaism in Christian theology.
Gary and Kathy dive into the "Original Sin"-- the sin of pride, which was at the root of Satan's rebellion against God and virtually all other sin. According to Biblical patterns, pride can sometimes be a good thing, but more often, pride is man's way of saying "I know better than God."
A word study of the text of Genesis 1, verses 1 and 2 reveals an intriguing dilemma. (5:34 minutes)
Many Christians have been taught that Pentecost is the holiday that celebrates the birth of "The Church," not realizing that this holiday was actually the ancient Biblical festival of Shavuot. With this erroneous belief, the church was born in divorce of its Biblical Hebraic foundations and opened itself up to adopting much pagan culture.
