Dr. Brad Schoenfeld, PhD is one of the world’s leading researchers on muscle hypertrophy (muscle growth). He is a Professor of Exercise Science at Lehman College in New York, where he directs the Human Performance Laboratory. Over his career, he has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and textbooks on resistance training, body composition, and nutrition.

Today I’m joined by Dr. Lara Briden, a naturopathic doctor, best-selling author, and internationally recognized expert in women’s hormones for a wide-ranging conversation on cycle health and why ovulation is a vital sign of wellbeing.

We talked about how monthly ovulation creates hormones that support bones, metabolism, and brain function, and what happens when that rhythm is disrupted by stress, restrictive eating, or birth control. Dr. Briden explains why natural estradiol and progesterone are so protective, how they differ from synthetic hormones, and what that means for both younger women and women approaching perimenopause.

She also shares her perspective on missing periods, hypothalamic amenorrhea, and the four functional types of PCOS, along with the growing role of insulin resistance in hormone imbalance. We talk about how to track ovulation, what lab markers to look for, and why restoring cycles is one of the most powerful steps for long-term health.

Today I am sitting down with my friend, Dave Asprey. Dave is the father of Biohacking and has been a friend and mentor for years. We discuss all things longevity and biohacking!

About Dave:

Dave Asprey is best known as the founder of Bulletproof Coffee and the entire Biohacking movement. As a four-time New York Times bestselling author, CEO of Upgrade Labs, and host of a Webby award-winning, top 100 podcast, The Human Upgrade (formerly Bulletproof Radio), Dave is a maverick in the entrepreneurial health science and biotechnology space.
As a true pioneer, Dave was the first person to ever sell a product online, and of course, it was related to coffee. He sold caffeine t-shirts out of his dorm room before the web browser was even invented which earned him a profile in Entrepreneur Magazine. Dave became an early internet technology journalist, cyber security expert, and co-founded a division of Exodus Communications, a company that seeded the internet we know today.
At only 28 years old, Dave’s phenomenal career success left him battling cognitive fog, arthritis, pre-diabetes, put him at high risk for stroke, and with the biochemistry of a 60-year-old. His own premature aging launched him on a quest to reclaim his health and vitality, lose over 100 pounds, and not only reverse his biological age but increase his IQ by over 12 points! This work led him to create The Bulletproof Diet and to coin the health science term “biohacking,” a word once deemed “fringe” yet now resides in the Merriam Webster dictionary, along with Dave Aprey as part of the definition.
Dave's relentless pursuit of human potential drove him to invest nearly $2 million in upgrading his biology and run the world's first and largest biohacking conference, earning him the title "Father of Biohacking." You’ve seen him featured in Men's Health, the Today Show, Wired, Good Morning America, the New York Times, Fast Company, and many other major publications. Forbes named his company one of the top 20 most innovative brands in the world, and he’s credited with creating three unique billion-dollar markets: MCT Oil, Collagen Protein, and Functional Coffee.
Dave’s mission is to help people upgrade to a happier, more conscious state, one cell at a time.
As the founder of 40 Years of Zen, Dave applies neuroscience to personal transformation. 40 Years of Zen is the world's most exclusive five-day intensive for upgrading the brain. Attracting Hollywood celebrities, C-suite executives, professional athletes, and other global elite, Dave’s programs are leading human evolution.
Dave divides his time between Vancouver Island, BC, and Austin, Texas, enjoying time with his two children while sharing dad jokes that never fail to induce groans and eye-rolls!

Today I sit down with my good friend Dr. Casey Means. We are discussing all things metabolic health, the state of health care, and GOOD ENERGY!

About Good Energy:

What if depression, anxiety, infertility, insomnia, heart disease, erectile dysfunction, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s dementia, cancer and many other health conditions that torture and shorten our lives actually have the same root cause?

The truth is, they do. And our ability to prevent and reverse these conditions - and feel incredible NOW - is under our control and simpler than we think. The key is our metabolic function: the way we make energy in our cells and bodies. The ability to make good energy in our bodies is the most important and least understood factor in our overall health, and the biggest blindspot in healthcare.

About Dr. Casey:

Casey Means, MD is a Stanford-trained physician and co-founder of Levels, a health technology company with the mission of reversing the world’s metabolic health crisis. Her book on metabolic health, Good Energy, comes out in May 2024 with Penguin Random House. She received her BA with honors and MD from Stanford, was President of her Stanford class, and has served on Stanford faculty. She trained in Head & Neck Surgery before leaving traditional medicine to devote her life to tackling the root cause of why Americans are sick. She has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Women’s Health, and more.

“My journey began after experiencing a family member’s battle with cancer, after being made aware of the toxins in everyday items we struggled to find a mattress that offered pressure relief and posture support without introducing toxins to the bedroom. I realized at that point how important this was not only for someone battling disease, but also healthy people.
That’s when Essentia was born, 18 years later and we’re more than just the world’s healthiest mattresses. Essentia has revolutionized sleep and how it impacts your environment. The frenzy of the bed-in-a-box has reached absurd heights today, yet nothing has changed as far as health and wellness of the products being offered. This is where Essentia stands alone, providing products made with natural and organic components and unparalleled quality without compromise.
People everywhere have realized the importance of healthy, natural choices during the 16 hours they’re awake. With sleep as the foundation of wellness, we’re determined to fill that same need for the eight hours they’re asleep.”

If you are just getting started on your journey to optimal health, or you are getting refocused on your health. These are my top tips.   If you are just getting started on your journey to optimal health, or you are getting refocused on your health. These are my top tips.

If you're just getting started, do these things.

Go to bed earlier. By getting adequate sleep, you set yourself up for success the next day. Go bed by 10 pm.

Get up when your alarm goes off. You need to create new habits and develop discipline. Habits can take between eighteen and two hundred and fifty days to develop. Start now.

Get sun into the eyes every morning to set your circadian rhythm.

Take a cold shower every morning to boost dopamine and serotonin and increase energy. You can start with 30 seconds of cold and work up. Other options for cold are cold immersion, like a cold tub, jumping in a cold body of water, or cryotherapy.

Get ten to fifteen thousand steps every day.

Swap processed foods for whole foods.

Exercise (I prefer strength training) three to five times per week.

Roger Snipes is a fitness entrepreneur with an unshakable desire to improve the world. The thousands of images that are scattered across the internet are a very small portion of who Roger really is. He was born in 1979 and grew up in what most would perceive as a not so fortunate circumstance. The neighbourhood was crime stricken and most who dwelled there either ended up in prison or remained on government supports schemes. At 17 years old Roger was homeless. Living with an abusive father he ran away packing few items in search for escape. His father was an alcoholic with a psychotic behaviour. This translated in Roger being abused not just physically but psychologically too. The way out was either suicide which was contemplated more than once or to flee. Rogers stepmother (who had divorced his father) gave him shelter and helped him gain some sort of structure in his life. Follow Roger on IG @RogerSnipes and visit his website here.
