Reading that title may have caused a big reaction for you as recollections of what your own father was like. I understand completely how difficult it can be to adjust our perceptions that are based on this world's lies and the effects of our trauma can be when reading Scripture but it is imperative in how we build our theology. Truth is such a simple thing that it can become quite complicated when we try to impose certain worldviews and beliefs on it. We use so many different tools that often don't do much good in our efforts to determine absolute truth. Because we are all searching for absolute, unchanging truth to foundationally order our lives around we must be able to understand how to go about determining what is reality and what is arbitrary assumptions/beliefs. How often have you heard morality discussed when talking about the Bible? It is almost as if morality is intrinsically tied to the very nature of the Biblical narrative, which is not surprising considering that everything about life can be boiled down to morality. I am so excited to share with you the recent study I did on what the Bible actually is and why it is essential to our lives. I will be continuing this discussion in future episodes, going into more detail as I give evidence for the truth of the Bible and the fact that it is the inerrant word of God, but for today we will simply be discussing what the Bible's purpose is. How we present ourselves can quickly become the biggest idol in our lives. It takes a whole lot of time, money, mental space; and effort to look the way society tells us we must if we are to be worth anything. But what if I told you you didn't have to spend every day hating the way you look anymore? What if I showed you that freedom is found in letting it all go and surrendering to God? For me, that was the hardest part of my journey: relinquishing what I thought I had control over and letting God do what He willed with my entire life. The result? A life of freedom from insecurity, pain, and reliving and recreating the same traumatic events over and over. Listen now to find out how!

Lately I've been thinking a lot about how grateful I am that I am no longer struggling to find purpose. God has brought grounding in the foundations of His Word and His Spirit into my life that I now am able to dictate everything in my life by. He has taken me out of a story that I hated and brought me into a new future full of so much hope and excitement through His grace and I now get to live everyday as a testimony of His faithfulness and goodness. Today I wanted to talk about the importance of our purpose here on earth and how it can define and direct our lives. For the past year or so of my life I have been slowly backing further and further away from being conscious. I hated the direction my life was heading but felt trapped and unable to change anything. I would give halfhearted attempts to improve things but never got to where I wanted to be until God called me out of that future and gave me a new story.
