Be Prepared. We know that our battle is not against flesh and blood and yet so many Christians have not undergone the training to get themselves ready for the struggle that our day to day lives bring in both the seen and unseen realm.  Followers of Jesus need to be prepared to respond to everything life throws at us with the love, grace, power, and wisdom of the author and captain of our faith.  We kick off the summer season a call to lay out the spiritual groundwork to be ready to answer the attacks of the enemy as well as the opportunities presented by the Holy Spirit.  Our goal is to be so acquainted with the heart of God that we allow Christ himself to live his life out through us in every scenario our time here on earth provides.  If we are ready, victory will be ours!

Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus like a puppy on its master is the key to living a stronger spiritual life.  Journey with Paul the Apostle at the end of his life as he continues to preach the good news about the very person for whom he is now in prison.  To him, Jesus was everything, and he lived a vibrant life in the face of hardship because he never looked away.

There is Christmas Hope in Jesus! The genealogy of Jesus includes the names of four fascinating women all of whom would have reasons to be left out if not for the love and grace of God.  These women point to the Hope we have in Jesus.  Not only that, we don't just have an objective hope to look forward to, the beauty of the story of Christmas is that the Hope of Glory resides inside of us! Every believer in Jesus receives the Spirit of Jesus himself who lives his hope through us.  This means no matter what we face in life, we can have a supernatural hope present in real time.

The church must be ready and on guard against those who only appear to be living for God. In the story of Jessobel, the main takeaway is that we are to love everyone but we're not to tolerate (witness corruption) and not say anything. Jessobel was an example of someone who enjoyed her sin and didn't see it as a problem, therefore she had no intention to fix it. We cannot be so afraid to speak up that we cannot even confront sin within our own church. We need to build one another up by lovingly letting one another know that their sin isn't okay and needs to be addressed so it doesn't become a bigger issue.

If we truly love one another it is our responsibility to let one another know and help when asked to help one another be free from our sins.

Living as light in Dark Times- The Seven Churches Today!

The Church at Pergamum had to deal with being the site of Satan's Throne in the Roman Empire. How could Christians allow the idolatry and sexual immorality to happen in their midst? Jesus warns that we need to be careful of being too tolerant.

Pastor Cyril uses examples of TV Shows the younger generation loves to watch, the use of comedy, comic books, and more to provide examples of how we have become tolerant of attacks against Christianity. Different actions that go against scripture are seen as extremely common and cool in today's generation. He compares these desires as a heavenly feast as opposed to the massive banquet waiting for us in heaven (Manna or Pagan feast) which he compared to a heavenly feast.

We are called to be a church that encourages others:

People are consistently being overcome by powerful spiritual forces and are being weakened to the extent that many of us do not recognize sin anymore in society. We are called to love, encourage, support, and be in community with others in a formal love feast. An example of this could be an Engagement Party (preparing and anticipating this exciting wedding) but instead in the excitement for Jesus to come again.

The Church at Smyrna was suffering persecution from the authorities and Jesus challenges them to endure. May we be ready to face persecution with peace and strength.

Remember that Jesus encourages us to love and pray for those who persecute us. It is not our persecutors but Satan that is confusing them leading them to do evil. All authorities will be and have been used at one point to threaten the church.

The devil will put some of us In prison, war, or severe depressing situations up to death to try and break us. In Smyrna, there were massive murders and extremely painful situations that Christians were put through.

Revelation 2:10- Do not be afraid I will give you the crown of life.

This is in reference to the second death, and the lake of fire in the book of revelation. Those that prepare for the persecution and tribulation of the book of revelation and don't expect to be saved by the rapture will be saved.

As Christians, we are rewarded when we overcome all the persecution that befalls the church. Satan has been given the power to overcome the Christian church and be put to death. We need to prepare our hearts to be ready to stand by Jesus with hope no matter what is thrown at us.

We can talk about the sea of fire and end time persecution which many of us won't experience. However, we do have many brothers and sisters in Christ who are living through this persecution and standing strong until the end times (43000 Nigerian Christians have been killed in the last 10 years).

May we stand tall against death and any persecution we face as a community.

Jesus gave a special message to 7 Churches in the Book of Revelation. We begin our new series looking at Ephesus and a church that became distracted and forgetful of their first love.

Many of the largest challenges that churches have are regarding becoming distracted and forgetting that our primary focus should be Jesus. Every church is a representation of Jesus and every church has a problem showing this to others.

The churches in the Book of Revelation lost their interest in the church in a similar fashion to Christians today as a result of COVID-19, we've gotten too comfortable with the virtual church. Technology was a great tool to meet when in-person service was not safe but was never meant to be a permanent solution.

This can also be compared to scheduling your time to prioritize the marriage to your spouse, even in the midst of many other requirements and responsibilities. We can get into an unfortunate habit of creating poor patterns of straying from God, especially today. In the technology and manufacturing age, there is a new game, app, toy, or activity that we can easily become addicted to. Just as distracted driving kills people, distracted minds kill our spiritual relationship with Jesus.

Even though the church is in danger of becoming incredibly distracted, we still have Jesus who loves us so much and will lead us back to him.

There is a malevolent intelligence who hopes to destroy humanity. As Jesus' followers, we can resist the plans of the evil one and testify to the power of life and resurrection! There is a malevolent intelligence who hopes to destroy humanity. As Jesus' followers, we can resist the plans of the evil one and testify to the power of life and resurrection!

Some Christians believe in Ghosts and Aliens but not the Devil which is scary because the Devil wants us to think he isn't real because it makes it harder to resist him. Satan isn't in your ear, he operates by controlling powerful people and by creating an influence all around us that tempts us to wander away from God.

Satan loves to attack God's church, Godly relationships, and ultimately anything focused on serving Jesus. Therefore, the concept of denying Satan's existence is terrifying, after all, he's not the monster we tell our kids isn't under their beds, he's real.

Fear is a dangerous thing especially when it is used against us because when we are worried about what could happen to us we worry less about what could happen to others. The Apostle Paul warns us that in our anger do not sin, don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, if you do it can build into resentment.

When we filter our fear through the word of God we're able to make better sense of why we are fearful. We are able to act differently.

Truths to Remember: 1. The devil is real and actively trying to destroy humanity 2. Faith in Jesus offers us protection from Satan's attacks Ephesians 6:12-19 (Armour of God) 3. Do not allow fear and anger to define us as individuals (Are we angry at anyone or tempted to slander, anyone)

Ask yourself where fear is showing up in your life. It's important to identify these area's so you can move forward in hope and love.

Ephesians 2:11- Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands

1 corinthians1:2: Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:

Colossians3:12-13: Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Holiness is about being loved by God and him wanting us to be more like him.

2 Corinthians5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

We are trying to find a balance between living a life of knowing God loves us no matter what but to still walking a life free of bad habits.

We need to identify the things that God would view as wrong and be willing to change it.

1 Peter 1:15-16: But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy because I am holy.

1 Peter 2:9: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Thessalonians 4: 3-8: It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b] The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Holiness is based on grace alone:

Look up the following verses on your own and reflect on what they say about Grace and Holiness:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 Philippians 1:6 Romans 8:29 1 John 3:23 Galatians 5: 22-23:

This should be a hopeful dependency on God to help us grow from the inside out.

Sanctification is not about actions:

Philippians 2:12-13: Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Romans 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Although we are called to be perfect God understands that our journey of sanctification is lifelong. We all have sinned, so continue to bring our shortcomings to God.

1 John 1:8-10: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Holiness is not an option, it is the goal:

Hebrews 12:14: Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Luke 22:39: Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.

Reflection Questions:

What Is your plan to live life and grow in holiness?

How will you achieve spiritual maturity by letting God live within you?

How will you be disciplined in your spiritual life?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3- If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

The greatest gift we can give someone is love. Love is how you act and feel towards others. How do you feel when you meet strangers whether it is in traffic, at the grocery store or when you are in a rush to get somewhere?

Be sure to treat others as a thou/who and not an I/It. When you are on the phone with someone are you treating them as a sibling in christ and an image of God rather than a way to get something?

God has a very sacred relationship with everyone whether they are lost or saved. God wants us to have that same loving relationship with everyone as well. If not we may be teaching others to treat themselves as less than a child of God.

3 ways to love others:

  1. Stop mind reading

1 Corinthians 2:11- For who knows a person’s thoughts except for their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Exodus20:16-You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Give them a chance and ask them what they are thinking and give them a chance. Treat them as a person. Everyone has the right to be heard, be given the benefit of the doubt, and be trusted.

  1. Manage your expectations Potential expectation problems can be unconscious, unrealistic, unspoken, and unagreed upon.

Valid expectations must be conscious, realistic, spoken, and agreed upon.

  1. Stop Avoiding Conflict - But do it privately not publically. In private is always better than in public. Matthew18:15- If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.

We need to figure out how to clarify our expectations, fight cleanly, clarify our expectstions and communicate what triggers our frustration. With triggers, it can be the smallest things like using a clean towel instead of a paper towel to clean a spill or putting the toilet paper in the right way.

Communicating these as expectations, however, can reduce conflict and allow you to communicate in love when it does arise. When there is conflict be sure to remember you are communicating with your sibling in Christ and someone you love. Connect With Us:

On the Seventh Day God rested, so we could balance our productivity with enjoying his creativity!

This week pastor Cyril Guerette talks about the sabbath and the role of work in the life of a Christian. Work is a good thing and as Christians, we are supposed to work (Even Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden worked), but along with work we are also expected to rest.

Colossians 2:16-17- Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration, or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

You are not required to take the sabbath at a specific time but the application of taking a sabbath is important in principle. The Sabbath was an image of Jesus in the bible. Taking time to rest in Jesus accomplishes the purpose of the Sabbath.

Deuteronomy 5:12: Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you.

How do you apply the sabbath?

  1. Stop Working: "The Lord commanded that tomorrow would be a day of rest." To seize all work that breaks you down to de-stress, shut off your mind, and be with God to find rest.
  2. Enjoy the rest: "Come to me those who are weary and I'll provide you with rest"
  3. Enjoy Life: Do the things that you enjoy (travel, money, time with your family, hiking, sports, etc Psalm 27:4).
  4. Contemplate and spend time with God: Take time during this ideally 24-hour time period to listen to worship music, pray, read your bible, talk to God or connect with God in any other way that's comfortable to you.

If you don't currently participate in the sabbath routinely we encourage you to ask our lead or pastoral team about how to structure or improve upon past sabbath attempts you've made. Connect With Us:

How did Jesus confront pain and suffering?

Let's recall when Jesus was on the cross and he asked for his persecutor's forgiveness. He also forgave his best friends for betraying him.

It is really important that we can experience the emotions Jesus felt when he was preparing to die. His best friends denied that they ever knew him and another sold him for money.

How did Jesus feel?

During this time Jesus must have felt depression and deep suffering. His apostles record the details of his suffering with sadness, feeling very bad for what they had done.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality - Turns us into people that can understand loss and grief. Pastor Cyril challenges us to mourn like David did and confront this pain as Jesus would.

Jesus said " Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me, yet not my will, but yours be done.

3 Phases of Biblical Giving:

  1. Pay Attention
  2. Wait in the confusing in-between
  3. Let the Old Birth the New

Is pain good for our soul?

It is a good thing to experience hardship and pain. When we experience this, even if it's our children pray for it to help them grow.

Pain and losing battles are expected when we choose to follow Jesus. This grief and loss will show you that prayer needs to be at the center of your life.

John12:24- Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

For many of the prophets and disciples; Luke, John, Joseph, David, and many others when they broke or hurt Jesus used their pain and suffering to become stronger than ever.

Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly, With your God.

This week Darin Martin preaches while engaging musical worship throughout his message.

The Holy Spirit wants to be with us to guide us wherever the right-back may take us. When we are in step with the Holy Spirit our life feels different.

When the spirit of God is living within us nothing that is said to us can bring us down. We are all broken people but brought together to serve Jesus. When we walk with Jesus we become whole.

Let's practice acting justly, loving mercy, walking with Jesus loving others wherever we go this week.

The primary issue of the Wall - My Will vs. Gods Today we return to the Lord's prayer to examine if we are actually allowing God to give us direction in our lives. Imagine how fearful Abraham must have felt when God asked him to follow him without knowing where God was taking him.

God also told him he would have a son when he was far too old.

Matthew6:10- Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Hebrews 11:17-19- Abraham had no idea how sacrificing his son would work out but he trusted God more than anyone. Abraham believed that God could raise his son from the dead and trusted him.

The 6 stages of faith

During this process, you'll likely hit the wall that God calls us to push through between the serving stage and the inward journey stage.

Jesus teaches us what faith is: trusting God even when we do not feel him. For example, some people feel like the size of their church is in competition with other churches. In reality, the size of your church is in competition against the darkness.

During the journey of the Christian life, God wants to come inside of you and replace what is broken with what is good for you. He seeks to confront our desire to control our personal lives.

What kinds of things are removed from us?

  1. Pride and Approval (Greed)
  2. Comparing ourselves to others
  3. Taking pleasure in blessing then God himself

Perseverance is an act of faith. God knows that the emotional toll of life can be a lot, but he wants us to come to him for rest and rely on him when we are overwhelmed.

Spending time with God is important. We need to make time to invest in our relationship with God. Connect With Us:

The Spirituality of Emotional Wellbeing - Heart Health In this week's sermon, Pastor Cyril Guerette continues the current sermon called heart health. This week focused on the hard realities that we face and how we can find joy in the midst of a tough journey.

How can the family of God help keep your heart healthy?

A part of the family of God is your church family (your brothers and sisters) who can help you, especially when confronting spiritual battles that can hurt your heart. God has mercy and understands that although you are responsible for yourself, he won't hold you accountable for what your family does.

The soul who sins shall Die - Heart Health!

Pastor Cyril speaks from the Gospel of Mark on how we have a chance to break the cycle of sin throughout the generations of your family. If you love the Lord a thousand generations are blessed from it.

We each have an opportunity to break the cycle of sin that has been present in the history of our family, which may be very clear especially if they've turned your family away from God.

Exodus 20:3-6: “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Sample Scripts that can overcome us from our Family's history:

  1. I am irresponsible
  2. I don't matter
  3. I am unappreciated
  4. I am empty
  5. I can't be saved
  6. You'll never amount to anything
  7. I need to be perfect
  8. You will never prove that you are worth others' attention

God allowed us to be born into our family of origin for a reason. That reason is to overcome our challenges and let God's love be shown through the way we live and witness to others.

God's New Script given to us by Jesus:

  1. It is good that you exist
  2. You are a joy
  3. You are loved
  4. You are good enough
  5. You have nothing left to prove
  6. Your needs are a delight
  7. You are allowed to make mistakes

Why is discipleship important?

Working through these scripts is a really important part of discipleship that we encourage each of you to seek out. Joseph became a slave and prisoner for over 10 years and he worked through every challenge. He dealt with his grief and suffering with the help of God who saved him and his family.

How will God give you hope and help you break through your challenges today? Connect With Us:

Introduction (Heart Health Sermon Series):

Pastor Cyril started a new sermon series on Heart Health by saying goodbye to our Associate Pastor Darin Martin who is transitioning into a new role.

Psalm37: 3-6 4: Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

Why God Made Us:

God made us emotional for a reason. God has also made us social, spiritual, and physical people.

Emotionally healthy spirituality is about going under the surface and transforming your life.

The heart of the problem with achieving this transformation is our hearts. We need to be able to achieve true joy by sharing and being honest with what is in our hearts.

Emotional Immaturity:

Sometimes we rationalize our emotional immaturity in crazy ways much like the Pharisees in the time of Jesus. We adopt scripture to fit our needs and serve our worldly desires.

If you think of an iceberg it gives a great illustration of the part of our hearts we show others. The section above water that looks nice and put together we let others see.

But under the water, the majority of it is a different story. As this pattern continues like the icebergs our hearts will continue to be more hidden.

Resources:

If you enjoyed this sermon you'll love the book: Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Seazzero which contains themes in this sermon series.

Which of the 10 symptoms of Emotionally Healthy Spirituality apply to you in any? Our leadership so often has seen these symptoms in the church today.

God wants to know our heart's health and heal what's hurting so we will live with more joy.

Some causes of these spiritual heart symptoms:

  1. Delighting in other things (sports, work, etc)

  2. I am what I am (love of possessions)

  3. I am what others think I am (popularity) Connect With Us:

God is always watching and knows what your doing that may destroy you if you don't discipline your heart. God is calling us to create a habit of being that is loving to everyone around us. He wants us to address the cancerous habits that we have gossiping, screaming, being unloving towards other people, etc.

We should be seeking to have a heart that is formed through habits of loving one another. We need to have a discipline of constantly asking God to discipline our hearts through habits of love.

So when we are face to face with people that are difficult to love we can still love one another. The Holy Spirit can give us conviction but we also need others around us to support and motivate us to be the best versions of ourselves.

What are our defaults when we are stressed? Don't allow your lack of discipline in loving others to hurt your ability to love others.

Listen to our sermon as we strategize different ways that you can discipline your heart. Connect With Us:

How do we go about our day-to-day life showing the light of Jesus naturally in conversation? Jesus is saying do not fall victim to what society says because we are all called to be engaged with others and let others see Jesus by the ways we show love.

Pastor Guerette emphasized safety but encouraged us to speak and love strangers. Every stranger processes a unique story, an opportunity, a potential new friendship, and putting a smile on their face opens a door for Jesus to enter their lives.

If you are able to connect with someone and identify a similarity it's a lot easier to build a relationship. Some things that are easy to connect over are; family, food, dance, music, school, work, and your experiences.

Be sure to take a genuine approach. Don't listen to them looking for an opportunity to throw Jesus at them. Genuinely, take an interest in what they are saying and who they are. We all need love and showing them God's unconditional love is a great first step in helping them to love Jesus in a deeper, more intimate way.

When you invest in their well-being and show them your own light (blessing others) we also feel more like disciples of Jesus. You never know where a random conversation may go or how it could change someone's life forever. In fact, sometimes a random stranger's opinion is more comfortable and people are willing to have heavy conversations with you because they'll likely never see you again.

Feel free to take this past talking and consider how you can bless others by the tips you see, hosting an event for someone, bringing someone a meal, etc. As we let our light loose the Holy Spirit is also let loose.

Jesus sends us to represent God in heaven and our spiritual family. During our week we are sent to represent God's kingdom at work, out in our communities, and at social gatherings. John20:20- When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.

The reason that the holy spirit stays within us is to help us as we are sent to serve the kingdom of God. My favorite quote about this is "We are all zealous goers or zealous senders" which a global missions mentor once told me. In terms of missions in general we are all called to go and serve God's kingdom from the moment that the Holy Spirit comes and dwells within us.

As we go we are called to be people of forgiveness and peacemaking. We are also supposed to be a people of justice by looking around and striving to be fair. Look around and strive to fix things that aren't right like; poverty, bullying, racism, exclusion, etc seek to correct this issue.

Another attribute of God is beauty, and we are called to reclaim beauty in what it means to God. Remember, Jesus sends us on a mission to love and serve others.

God also represents wholeness (to be one with others) which could look like being there for others. God calls us to be in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

What does shadowing Jesus and learning to be like Christ look like? -Training and shadowing Jesus by having Jesus present in your minds.

-Hanging out with people different from ourselves because we love them (Jesus would eat with prostitutes, drunk people, and tax collectors and helped anyone who could (I.e. the lady who touched his robe that was healed).

-Spend time with Jesus through prayer, reading, and setting time aside to be with him (audiobooks).

-Focus on the Gospels which are the central point in the history of Jesus loving others on earth.

-Like a new worker would shadow an expert in the workforce so should we shadow Jesus so we can live like him as well.

D.A. McBride said to look for Jesus in others and they will see him in you. What does it look like to live for Christ? To do this we allow Jesus to overpower every aspect of our lives and actions so that we can begin to live more like him.

This is done over time as we build momentum and learn to be more like Jesus.

Ultimately the more time we spend with Jesus the more ways he will transform us.

If you are struggling, Jesus doesn't want you to dislike yourselves but instead bring yourself to him so he can work on your heart. Connect With Us:

To listen to God's voice and Eliminate distractions in our lives can be weird and will take a lifetime of practice to effectively listen to God's voice even if you can eliminate all your distractions.

This is done by listening to the Holy Spirit (Aka Listen to God's voice) and knowing how to discern if what you're hearing is from God by filtering it through scripture. Be sure to talk less and listen more.

Theresa, a saint from the middle ages said if you can bare the process of looking at the unpleasant side of yourself, you open up a place for Jesus to come into your life.

We need to represent Jesus by not judging anyone and not being strict with the rules like the Pharisees. Instead, follow in the actions that Jesus would choose for any situation that you find yourself in. Essentially we want to be living our lives as a representation of the Holy Spirit within us (essentially an Anti-Pharisee).

If you are an active extrovert you may struggle with this tip which is to engage in active listening prayer. That doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit won't guide you at specific moments though. While on a mission trip in Peru I would feel God lead me to talk to specific people that were open to learning about God at different points in the trip.

For many of us, we'll feel like we need a clear answer to God's prayer instantly, and will forget the importance of listening to the spirit.

Also, please remember to test the spirit because we can often be directed by what we truly want for our lives. This means to listen and ask otherwise Christians in your life and get an unbiased opinion of if what your feeling aligns with what scripture tells us to do.

At the end of every service, we have community time where we talk about personal experiences in our lives that relate to the sermon. This is an amazing community time where we inspire one another with our stories.

Mike Frost's book on the 5 spiritual habits talks about living your life as good neighbors so that it makes others ask you questions by doing things that surprise other people.

This Mother's Day our Associate Pastor Darin Martin talked about eating together and the impact of food in ministry.

Jesus is the ultimate example of doing things that wouldn't be normal and lead to questions being raised out of curiosity about why he does these things.

Jesus would commonly preach about being good neighbors take time of eating to teach others about the father. Some examples of this include; feeding the 5000 and healing Peter's mother-in-law.

Jesus would commonly eat food with tax collectors leading to barriers and causing questions to be raised.

Tax collectors were known as the lowest of society whereas the Pharisees that he would convict were held in high respect.

We tend to eat three times a day why not eat one with someone else? This week let's eat a meal with someone else.

You can surprise this friend by encouraging them during the meal, paying for the meal, preparing the meal, etc.

When you sit down with a friend Jesus should be such a big part of your life that it comes up naturally. As we listen to the Holy Spirit and share about your life and stories your story and what is happening in your life can't be offensive.

Action steps to being good neighbors:

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit who we should invite for lunch
  2. Take the step and invite someone to eat with them
  3. Listen to the spirit and allow your stories and what is going on in your life to be shared without it being offensive or making someone uncomfortable

The stories of what Jesus has done with food are amazing. The story may have started with a story about Mexican hamburgers but the importance of this message is that God calls us to eat together. Connect With Us:

We are called to be good neighbors like the church bells in the way they ring with joy to attract people.

We are called to bless and love others. It is easy to forget to keep this at the front of our minds.

How we go about sharing the gospel is a big part of this. When we share the gospel with the goal of converting people it makes us disconnected.

Instead, go out and bless people with kind words and actions. When asked say the reason for your kindness is Jesus. Act and live like Jesus but be prepared to share when asked.

You may need to ask yourself, what are the barriers I have to blessing people?

They could include: 1. Fear 2. Busyness 3. Stress 4. Worry 5. Selfishness 6. Perception Many more...

It is important to not let opportunities to bless others pass by us. Words of kindness are an easy way to bless others as they give and enhance people's lives.

Our actions and gift-giving are also habits you can develop whether you have them naturally or not to become the good neighbors that scripture calls us to be. Connect With Us:

Ever had a bad neighbor but wanted a good neighbor? It's a nightmare. Ever been a bad neighbor, when you should have been a good neighbor? Jesus teaches us what it means to love your neighbor by way of the Good Samaritan story which has captured generations for millennia.

Luke 10:25-37: On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life? “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” In reply, Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite passed by on the other side when he came to the place and saw him. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his donkey, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have. “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Dr. Cyril Guerette speaks about Jesus' teaching of who our neighbor is and how to be a 'Good Samaritan' AKA a good neighbor in the way we live our lives. Loving your neighbor looks like uncommon self-sacrifice that is hard for millions to apply. The first step is to understand who your neighbor is as Jesus describes in the above passage.

We will explore this in the next few weeks through:

  1. How do you bless others
  2. Eating with one-another
  3. Living and learning Jesus' habits
  4. Being sent by Jesus and learning to live for others on the mission

3:11: God has set eternity in the human heart.

This is the reason why we as humans desire to make moments last and to live forever. We were not meant to only live in this life.

The gift of God by the holy spirit is this eternal life that we desire in our hearts. All we have to do is turn from our sin and commit ourselves to following Jesus.

John17:3- Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. If you know Jesus, you know eternal life. As we enter Easter and appreciate the free gift Jesus has given us, take a chance and analyze where you need to grow.

We need to work on the way that we talk about hope with one another. For example instead of saying Grandma had died and gone to heaven say and hold in your heart that one day Grandma will rise from the dead when Jesus returns.

Instead of shunning the physical world, reveal to it the hope that the Holy Spirit has placed upon your hearts. We need to celebrate and show the gift of eternal life wherever we go physically in the world.

Pslams16:11- You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Connect With Us:

Did you know the book of Zechariah arguably has the most to say about the end times after Revelation? One example of this is that a horse was a symbol of warrior status in biblical times and a Donkey is a symbol of peace and agricultural status. By coming into Jerusalem on a donkey he wants to say I am for everyone.

Pastor Cyril Guerette talks about what it's like to have a mindset of giving others the metaphorical donkey without expecting credit or glory. This is being made incredibly hard in a culture that is trying to take the stuff away from us with online scams and a call about air duct cleaning every week.

During Covid-19 church attendance and the energy of its members have been down many of us have been wondering why God is doing this. The answer that Cyril felt God saying as he met with other pastors is that it is time for us to be pruned so the church can become healthier.

The gardener (God) knows what he is doing. This is an excellent example of the suffering that we are promised to face as Christians and an excellent opportunity for us to bless others during this difficult time.

When Jesus was cut down on the cross it fulfilled the entire universe forever. Like the devoted followers of Jesus praising God during these difficult times is how we show God we are devoted followers. As we bless others during this difficult time it also shows others how blessed we are as well. Connect With Us:

Dr. Cyril Guerette talks with one of our founding elders Nick Peros about the recent book he authored on the rapture, end times, and escatology.

Mark 12:30- In this verse, God asks us to love him with all aspects of who we are. Love God with your mind (how you think), with your heart (what you feel), and with your body (your actions).

Cyril dives into the enlightenment v.s. romanticism period that compares science & reason v.s. nature & imagination. These two movements are very strong and can have a big divide.

Cyril does a great job using comedy examples about his kids and cats while teaching an eschatology course to bring home the point of the wrath of God and the aftermath.

In Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? When we give the holy spirit control of our heart and mind we achieve better discernment of what he wants us to do.

This can be difficult as when we have desires of the spirit and choose to act on them there will often be many of us that won't understand these callings. It is made easier when we think of God as our actual father and knows that he loves us as his children.

The time you spend with God can also be recorded and tracked so you know where you stand in your relationship with them.

James2:15-16- 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

If you see people's needs and only think of their intellectual needs to know Jesus you aren't loving them with your whole heart. If you are only thinking of their need to be comforted for their loss you're not loving them with your whole mind.

If you're not thinking about how you can love others through service or a comforting hug you're not loving them either your whole body.

Each of us is strong in one of these 3 areas but weak in at least one of the others. Cyril challenges us to identify and work on the area where we identify a weakness in one of these areas. Finding a balance and choosing who you journey with can have a massive impact on our hearts, minds, and bodies. The people who are around us can have a positive or negative impact on these areas. Pastor, Cyril begins continues week 3 of our brand new series called "Living On Borrowed Time" where he calls us to consider how we could be using the time that is "Lent" to us.

God wants us to love him with our bodies (1corinthians9:27) resisting the desires of our flesh. Paul is talking about his spiritual journey and the parts of our body that we need to control. An issue with this is that our bodies give us instant pleasure (release of dopamine) like drugs, social media, fast food, sex, etc.

Our bodies will be treasured when we can resist the temptation and delay our desire for instant gratification. If we become too dependent on social media or anything else that can provide us with instant satisfaction that won't last long term we trap ourselves in becoming depressed longer term.

When we practice fasting or restraining ourselves from certain things as we do during the period of Lent it has an amazing individual benefit in our personal relationships with God. Make sure that your fasting goes hand in hand with prayer so you can better build the fruits of the spirit.

We are not just recommended to take care of our bodies spiritually. Having poor nutrition and not exercising can limit where our bodies can physically go or do for God. It is also important to have a great sleep so your body can recover the way it's meant to.

Since our bodies are so important to God we should ask ourselves daily, how am I using my body to help others. Many of our members have thought about how Church can help others with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Connect With Us:

Pastor Bryan O'Gorman continues our series called "Living On Borrowed Time" where he teaches on Stewardship. Bryan talks about how the accumulation of wealth isn't important but through the process of sanctification, knowing God is infinitely important.

In 2Corinthians Paul teaches us that we are called to be generous stewards with what God has given us. It does not take a huge quantity of money to obscure our journey with God. That is why 1/3 of Jesus' parables in the four gospels alone (228 times he says the word money), and more than faith/prayer combined. Jesus says "Where your treasure is, that is where your heart is also."

We often forget that everything in our lives is not our own, especially when we put tremendous effort into reaching a goal I.e. a promotion or sports championship. We have a responsibility as Christ-followers to be good stewards of everything the Earth has to offer us. We must be careful to not let money cause us to wander away from our faith and enter a very dark space.

Money is not evil, it's a good thing but the love of money is a root that can lead to great evil. Is it seen as a way to bless others or a way to achieve personal gain?

Story of the 3 Servants Parable:

Brian describes this with a famous parable from Matthew about the three servants that God gives money to based on their abilities. He gave each servant a different amount of money and as expected the servant he gave the least to was afraid and hid the money so he wouldn't lose it whereas the other servants doubled the money they were given.

  1. God has given and entrusted us each with gifts.
  2. God doesn't expect us to always use these gifts wisely, he judges us differently (each of the three servants was given different amounts.
  3. We are accountable to God when we freely choose God's will.

When we step out in faith and try serving even in ways we don't think we'll be good at it's amazing how God uses us. Just remember giving is a blessing and we are to do so joyfully without expecting anything back in exchange.

Dr. Cyril Guerette talks about preparing and how we are living on borrowed time. He dives into scripture giving examples of how we are to best spend our time on earth i.e. submitting to one another's needs and serving one another.

It is important to listen to God and understand what our individual and collective missions are and how God wants us to prepare for these missions at different stages of our life. When we break down the areas where we give our time and discern how to schedule our time it can be overwhelming.

How do we do this?

Do we make time for ourselves and are we making time for God?

It is important to take time for ourselves (the sabbath) so we can rest and spend time with family and friends but also to spend time with God. The time that we take out of our days to give to God is incredibly important for our redemption.

During this time we are actually being the most productive despite what our culture might believe about productivity. God wants us to make use of our time knowing that it isn't our own and also prioritizing our time i.e. family, friends, work, church, serving, helping those in need.

Along with our time which God has given you how are you going to use the talents God has given you? When we can use our time and talents to best glorify God each day we are truly living to serve and love others. Pastor Cyril Guerette focuses on the importance of gathering and encouraging one another when we stumble as a community in the Christian church.

If we are to encourage someone to continue to love others it must be done in love and not in frustration or anger.

Thankfully as a result of COVID-19 we were still able to meet virtually but there is truly no substitute for meeting in person as a spiritual family.

As our brothers and sisters return to the church and we connect with them more in person we are able to grow more together.

The day of Jesus returning:

When the day of Jesus' return comes those that we are able to encourage in the ways Jesus would be more prepared. We should pray that Jesus would use us to encourage others to love our enemies and everyone in our community as well.

Those that have a close relationship with Jesus and support from a strong Christian community as less affected by the evil forces that try to hurt us.

The enemy wants fear to overcome us, as a result, we need to gather to support one another when fear tries to control us.

Let us ask you a few application questions that you can focus on this week.

  1. How will you spur on those around you this week?
  2. How can live out praying for your enemies this week?
  3. How can you love those around you with love or through your actions? Connect With Us: If you have not been out to Groundswell Church before we want to meet you. Let’s meet for coffee. Contact us Here:

In 1 Corinthians 12 verses 1-11, we learn that we are each given a spiritual gift that is special for us based on how we like to worship. These are gifts that are assigned by the holy spirit and are used for worshiping God in the ways that are most natural for us.

Our lead pastor dives into the unique gifts that we are assigned by the holy spirit using examples from the Avengers (Captain America, the Hulk, Black widow) X-men, and other examples from television to make more sense of gifts and spiritual gifts.

The spiritual gifts that we receive may be based on our current circumstances of the stage of life. God wants us to use these gifts to help each other serve God to the best of our abilities. When Jesus put together his team of disciples it consisted of people that come from very different stages of life.

Our pastor talks about why people are leaving the church because they feel like they aren't being cared for or we aren't in fact using our gifts to bless others within the church. Whether you have been to our church or not, if you are reading or listening to this podcast God is connecting us for a reason. Please reach out to us because we would love to reach out and serve you wherever you are at.

God calls us all together as Christians throughout the world so that we can be a superhero for loving and blessing others throughout the world. Connect With Us: If you have not been out to Groundswell Church before we want to meet you. Let’s meet for coffee. Contact us Here:

1 Corinthians 12- 1-11: Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers, and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous power, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Dr. Cyril Guerette talks about what it truly means to have one mind when we pray together in a community. The book of Acts talks about the supernatural special union that takes place that is so unique to the church. The Holy Spirit is like a musical conductor who creates a union of our hearts like the musical conductor guides all the instruments in unison.

Jesus said that we should be praying and seeking the Lord daily but also pray with others. Make sure that you have time during your week to pray with other Christians in communal prayer as this is very important to make it a priority in your lives. It can also be done over Zoom or another video platform you don't have to be physically together.

The prayers don't have to belong, many of the Pharisees were criticized by Jesus for saying long great prayers in public but not praying when alone. When you hear bad news or things come up pray over it with your partner.

This doesn't have to be a romantic partner. You can call up a friend to pray about stuff that is going on in the world. Many people are terrified about praying in groups, but when you do pray even short prayers Jesus is honored even more by prayers from these people.

An example of a quick prayer for someone who recently got laid-off from their job: God, please help Joe.

Let your prayer life show others how much Jesus loves them. Connect With Us: If you have not been out to Groundswell Church before we want to meet you. Let’s meet for coffee. Contact us Here:

Pastor Cyril Guerette asks the question of why is it so hard to rejoice with those who rejoice?

God calls us to:

Empathy- which is being able to look with other people's eyes and to allow us to work and experience the trials of others.

To Mourn with those who mourn even during compassion fatigue when there is a lot of loss in a short period of time.

Roman's 12:15 rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.

  1. If one part is suffering we are all suffering with it.
  2. If one part is honoured we all rejoice along with it.
  3. Rejoice with those who rejoice - as Christian's we need to have more party's with the community to rejoice and celebrate the little things. This could be a kid's graduation, promotion, special day, getting a puppy, or any other accomplishment. Show and use these moments and gatherings to bless God. You can gather even to appreciate and celebrate all the great people in your life that you're thankful for.

I.e. So that even if your team didn't win the Superbowl this year you can still rejoice for being able to gather with friends to watch the game without worrying about COVID-19.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality is an excellent book our pastor recommends by peter & Geri Scazzero which talks about how it is impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. If you have a friend who is willing to look out for a stranger is someone you will want in your circle of friends.

Jesus taught in Israel to take care of the outsiders and oppressed.

It is important to have wisdom and character to take care of everyone that is around you. Proverbs 27 Scripture Teaching: Proverbs 27:17: The idea of this verse is that you are a piece of iron and other people are the hammers. Depending on who you have in your life they can shape you in a positive or negative way.

Proverbs27:12: The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

Proverbs27:14- Think about who you have around you. 15-16 is the constant negativity of your relationships wearing you down and causing you suffering?

Verse 20: Death and destruction are never satisfied and neither are human eyes. What do your friends watch or look at? Verse 21: people are tested by how they respond to praise.

Verse 22: Don't look at people as projects in friendships there has to be a desire in a person's heart to change and then God will change them not yourself. How can I gain wisdom? Wisdom calls us to focus on who is influencing us. As humans it is impossible to not be influenced by those around us but are we influenced by satan, social media, inappropriate TV shows, coworkers.

As a second step to determine if they are a good influence on you think about who is influencing them?

Think instead of the Jesus' followers in your life and the influence they have on you. Or the neighbor who is eager to help out anyone that is in need.

Boundaries are also really important in your relationships to protect yourself from the negativity that can damage your mental health. If something is going to have a damaging effect on your mental health make sure you address it.

You may also need to place boundaries on the media you choose to watch if it has a bad influence on you.

Lead Pastor Cyril Guerette challenges us to spend more time with people the pour goodness into our lives to help shape us. As others shape you in a positive way it becomes easier for Jesus to use you to shape others as well.

We pray that each one of you would have around you others that can shape you to be more and more like Jesus each day. Connect With Us: If you have not been out to Groundswell Church before we want to meet you. Let’s meet for coffee. Contact us Here:

Before we even existed God was our family, and at times a family can hurt. The closeness we have with God and our church family can lead to a lot of hurt within our family. Although there are dangers to being a part of a family, loneliness is much more destructive in our society. Spiritual family gives us access to God himself ephesians2:19. Also, the opportunity and potential to grow with a family are far more likely than growing alone.

We are able to approach our God in a way we never have before in history, he loves it when we approach him like a child running it's his father's arms. Jesus said whoever does the will of God in heaven is my mother, brother, and sisters. Jesus emphasized that spiritual family is more important to him than blood family. Jesus still loved his earth family very much and even when he was on the cross about to die he made sure his mother Mary was taken care of.

Hebrews2:11- Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

Lead pastor Cyril Guerette speaks on how Jesus loves forgiveness and how we as Christians can repent (experience forgiveness) and live out forgiveness in our lives to remain spiritually aligned. Cyril speaks about the issues many of us have with condemnation (feeling like we cannot be forgiven for our mistakes).

God looks at our sin like he is our parents and we are young children. God wants us to acknowledge what we are doing wrong and help us move into the truth knowing that nothing that we do will make God love us any less.

Jesus says that repentance is a 180-degree return (look back, admit what you were done and move forward) you repent and move forward.

Luke6:37- Do not judge and you won't be judged, don't condemn and you won't be condemned, forgive and you'll be forgiven.

God still won't judge us and will forgive us either way. If we don't forgive others we become bitter and it damages our soul leading to self-condemnation. It also interferes with the life-long process of sanctification and hurts our souls making them less aligned with God's. Instead, let's listen to the conviction of the holy spirit and forgive those so their and your hearts may be healed.

Romans8:1 - There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Humanity is meant for community and family, just like animals have others Adam the original human needed Eve because God saw that Adam would be stronger with a helper so would Eve. Even if God calls you to singleness outside of a marital relationship, God still wants you to be in community with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

The apostle Paul discerns the words of Jesus about marriage, that God doesn't approve of divorce which was often misunderstood during a period of time where men would take advantage of what marriage stands for.

Jesus loves it when we gather which has been difficult during Covid-19 but it is still important to prioritize online community so we can come together and worship together. God himself is never alone being 3 in 1 person, being the source of everything.

God wants us to gather and support one another. As small groups are formed and bonds are built we are living out how God wants us to be in a relationship with each other. It is really important to have people in our lives that are there to support our spiritual needs.

Psychologists say that it is impossible to be in a community with more than 150 people at any given time. This may not sound like a big number, but some of us may have thousands of people on Facebook who we care about but just aren't able to keep up a relationship with. For many of us, 150 people don't even account for 50% of our high school's graduating class.

How do you maintain and love our inner circle and not take them for granted? How can you focus on who God wants your scope to be in terms of who your pour into?

The answer's to these questions will lead you to be a better servant for God.

Genesis2:18- The Lord said it is not good for man to be alone, I will make a helper for him. (God always said when he created stuff that it was good, but when he created man he said it was very good, emphasizing his plans for humans).

This boxing day our lead pastor Cyril Guerette talks about how we are made to honour baby Jesus who will one day reign over the entire world.

God has asked us to be stewards for him to take care of the world and all of his creation. Some examples of this include Joshua being tasked by God to look after the sun and moon, Daniel in the lion's den. Jonah when he was swallowed by the sea for 3 days and in the way Sampson fed by ravens.

God's name is majestic and we are made in the image of God reflecting who he is. Humanity in the future is going to be very interesting. All of creation is for us to take care of it in his name.

We are God's most important creation and we, we are lifted about the angels as the species that God entrusts to bring in the end times through us. God's fingerprints are on everything around us, Cyril challenges us to look for these fingerprints as we go about our week.

As we go for walks and travel our in the world, everything we see has God's fingerprints on it. For example, despite the cold, ice, and snow God's laid all the snow like he wipes our blood white like snow as well.

God may call you to be a bright light and show the love of God in a rainforest halfway across the world or in your own backyard. It's important that like the prophets we trust God and respond faithfully like Daniel in the lion's den.

Introduction to God's Love:

The love of God is the most profound experience we will ever have. The ability to experience and give love you others. Advent is about waiting patiently and being hopeful waiting for the presence of Christ. Psalms are a collection of ancient songs dedicated to worshipping God with hope and confidence. King David talks to his people about how God works for righteousness and justice for the oppressed. How he makes clear his ways through his word and various examples. He spoke to Moses famously through the burning bush, Noah with clear instructions, Nehemiah, Elijah, and every single person called of God in a unique way that'll reach us in a way that calls us to respond.

David was able to speak with so much wisdom about God's intentions and heart because he got to understand God's heart and we need to do this too. God sees the big picture for the world and by understanding his corrections, heart, and instruction we can understand the love and feel God's love this Christmas.

How can we give God's Love to others?

In 1967 there was a story about a boy who stole a bike and the owners found out where the bike was taken. When the Dad and the boy found where the bike was taken they knocked on the door. They noticed that they had no light, no food, and the boy wasn't going to have anything for Christmas so he took the bike.

They returned home and after the Dad talked to his wife they gathered a turkey dinner into a container, a bag of coal, an older bike they were not using, and the monetary equivalent of a $100 bill for the grandfather that was caring for the boy so they could have a nice Christmas.

Christmas is literally a cyclical reminder of the energy of love. It is not meant to just be received but also to be given to others. He bent all of creation to his love, forgiveness, mercy, and justice. Everything, God acts on is centered around God before he acts.

How do we receive and give the love of God in our lives? 1. By first loving God. 2. Pay it forward. 3. Love those who hurt us. 4. Keep our eyes open to where he is active, his love is with those who fear him.

Psalm 103: 2-3 bless the lord o my soul and forget not all his benefits.

Ian Trigg joined Groundswell Church to talk about the truth and joy of the Incarnation, theology, and the truth about Importance of the Virgin Mary in the resurrection this advent season. The two miracles (virgin birth and resurrection) fulfilled everything that we need as humans.

Advent is about waiting patiently and being hopeful waiting for the presence of Christ. Psalms are a collection of ancient songs dedicated to worshipping God with hope and confidence.

In Luke 1 verse 35 the angel answered Mary when asked how she could be pregnant, said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the son of God.

Because the Virgin Mary was obedient to the calling of God and allowed God to come as an infant through her the original great miracle was possible. When Mary's life was completely flipped upside down her response in scripture was that she was a servant of God.

This is the response that God calls each of us to have when he calls us in similar fashions, calling ourselves out of our comfort zones. Ian Trigg challenges us to seek joy through scripture and the stories he shared to be the best version of disciples of Christ.

The Bible Isn't good advice it is the good news that launches us to respond with a servant's heart and the Virgin Mary plays a huge role in showing us the example of devotion that God wants from each one of us. We must continue to respond, and listen for what God is telling us to do.

Advent is about waiting patiently and being hopeful waiting for the peace of Christ. Psalms are a collection of ancient songs and prayers dedicated to worshipping God with hope and confidence.

Christmas Psalms Peace:

In this sermon, our teaching Pastor Cyril Guerette discerned how Jesus is the Prince of Peace and will bring peace on earth to men/women… Jesus can give you inner peace and that will lead you to have outer peace in your professional and personal life.

Ultimately world peace will come when Jesus returns, in the meantime, we shouldn't be surprised when we hear about wars or rumors of wars until evil is finally defeated as is promised in the book of Revelation.

In Galatians 5 the fruits of the spirit, the spirit surpasses understanding and brings us peace.

Peace begins with each of us, If we are mad at someone and they came to apologize to us today would you forgive them? We are called to be peacemakers as the body of Christ.

The Pastor challenges each one of us to consider if there is anyone we are fighting with, and how we can show them the supernatural peace of Jesus.

No matter where you are in life, Jesus Invites you to an eternal relationship with him today. Would you like to learn more about this?

Advent is about waiting patiently and being hopeful waiting for the presence of Christ. Psalms are a collection of ancient songs dedicated to worshipping God with hope and confidence.

Psalm 27: Sheppard kings singing songs alongside Angel's about the thankfulness of the king that was to come and we sing the same songs out of thanks for Jesus.

God is described as a stronghold for us and a light in the darkness so we don't need to fear.

Hope in times of uncertainty:

Are you confident that God will bring us through times of uncertainty?

Do you know that our God will care for you?

Faith gives birth to confident hope in our lives.

Kind David made sure he spent time in the house of the Lord his cries to be in God's dwelling is an example of how this desire should be at the forefront of all our minds.

The physical temple of the Lord was always meant to be temporary which is why when we celebrate Christmas and call God Emmanuel (God with us) we are worshipping how God is always with us.

All of humanity cries out, in the same manner, King David would that seek God first. Ultimately God is the only person who will never let us down or forsake us; family, friends, jobs, our health as unfathomable that may seem to you.

Psalm27:9- Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. Psalm27:14- Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Colossians1:27- To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

How do we wait on the Lord? -We must seek the Face (presence) of God. -Be willing to journey long and far with expectation. Hope comes from experience. -Be in a community we are not meant to seek God alone, he wants us to do it in community.

Dr. Cyril Guertte pastor of Groundswell Church speaks on being one with Christ and church followers what does it look like? As we walk with christ this union becomes more normal through training of being in community with others.

Sometimes these moments are sporadic or fleeting which is evidence of God's gift of peace and joy that's not just available in heaven but now.

We need to clear space in our minds and hearts to not only receive the Holy Spirit but to continue to unwrap layers of christ through the process of sanctification.

There is a similarity between becoming one with Christ and oneness with your married spouse. The union develops over time if you work on it just like a union with Christ. Additionally, if it's not worked on and you can't die to yourself as Christ did for us both our marital and Christ union can collapse.

How can we hold on to the moments and memories we have of our time with God? Union how does it become easier? We can write down, and capture moments we spend with God just like you would with your family.
