Altitude Church is a local expression of the Church of God movement in Arvada, Colorado. We repost every Sunday's message here at the start of each week. Our hope is that your time with this podcast helps you to know God, find freedom, discover your purpose, and make a difference in the world around you!
Anne Gibbs from @WorldVisionUSA speaks about how to have RESILIENT faith in the midst of trials.
Pastor Chaundra takes a dive into a very personal Psalm and talks about seeing with the eyes of faith.
Pastor Gage takes a look at the angriest Psalm in the Psalter and helps us see that even the darkest of our human emotions God does not meet us with scorn or offense, but with grace and presence and comfort.
Pastor Lee shares how Psalm 67 sets the stage for the promises of God in your life... the Gospel of Jesus... and each of our callings as ambassadors/ministers of the kingdom. Plus, we give a BIG update on some things happening at Altitude right now, and coming into the Fall.
Pastor Ron kicks off our summer series where each week, a unique teacher takes us through a page from Jesus' hymnal, the Psalms. This week is Psalm 2. Glad you're here!
On this Father's Day 2024 at Altitude Church we literally receive the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven in Arvada as it is in heaven. Let's join together and celebrate our CALLING as we see what God is ready to do IN and THROUGH us.
It's a special Sunday here at Altitude as Matt from Save Our Youth teaches about the importance of mentoring and the impact it can have in lives young and young at heart!

God has given us keys to the kingdom... and a part of that is having the keys to the future of our world. What does it mean to partner with God to create the future you want to grow old in? Let's Chat.
What does it mean to have "keys to the fridge" in someone's life? How does this have to do with mentoring and home break-ins? Let's chat.
Your mother (grandmother, aunt, father, grandfather, friends, uncle, teachers) have been praying for you. What does it look like to honor those who have invested in you by stepping into your calling? Let's chat.
In this new series, Pastor Lee begins to explore how Jesus has given us the "Keys to the Kingdom" by looking at how his mother taught him to drive a car.
Do you feel like you are winning? Scripture says that we are MORE THAN CONQUERERS... so, what happens when we don't feel like that? And... why? Let's talk about that.
What do we do when we don't know how to pray? The Holy Spirit translates our groaning for us. And, what about that whole "elect" thing? Let's talk about that.
What do we do with passages in Scripture that are difficult to understand? We CONSIDER them... and this week we have a very interesting text to consider as we discover how our restoration in Christ... literally changes the ground that we walk on.
Easter was AWESOME!!!! But, what happens after Easter? What happens after the "runner's high" of excitement is gone? This week, Pastor Lee tackles the "So what?" of Easter by looking at the next section of Romans 8, which begins "so then..."
It's Easter Sunday! Let's join together and celebrate with a special story reading for the kids and a powerful message from Pastor Lee that is sure to stick with you beyond the "runner's high" of Easter Sunday service. Pastor Chaunda Tangi (Pastor of This Generation Ministry) delivers a powerful Palm Sunday Message to close out our Sons & Daughters series.
Special Guest speaker Amy Madron shares from her heart as she digs into the next section of Acts 2.
This week, Pastor Lee digs into the text at hand and explores how we can heal from grieving. This vital human skill is something we are rarely shown how to do... and yet it is so important to understanding life.
God calls ALL sons & daughters to walk as minsters of the Gospel... and, yet, there are reasons why some branches of the Christian Church disallow women from taking leadership roles. Is this Biblical? Is this God's Heart? And, how do we wrestle with 1 Timothy when the witness of the entire Old Testament and the history of the early church was to see ALL Sons & Daughters become Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds, and Teachers?
Pastor Ron shares his story about his family and how MENTORING is written into God's plan for His people. Let's join together as we finish this important conversation.
Once we open the Absent Father wound, we find that healing comes through following Jesus together. What does it mean to follow Jesus? What does it mean to follow Jesus alongside others? Let's chat!
God the Father is YOUR Father... but, how do you hear this life-giving truth through a life marked by an absent father wound? Pastor Lee continues this powerful series by looking at how Jesus prayed to the Father and what that tells us about God.
God IS calling you to be a minister of the Gospel... but, does that give you anxiety? Jesus is offering PEACE. Let's explore our calling together.
You hear the calling that we should do GREATER THINGS, but that causes shame, doubt, fear, and confusion in your heart. Let's talk about how God comes alongside and HELPS us through the Holy Spirit.

The last Sunday, before the end of the year, we take a look back at previous series and pick a topic to spend a little more time on as we anticipate the new year.
January 1st is a day of new beginnings. What does starting over look like for you? Knowing this year ahead will be heavy with political chatter, economic chatter, and all other matter chatter, how are you setting yourself up to reflect the truest heart of God?
Jesus shared meals and space with people who thought differently and acted differently than he did. And yet... Jesus shared meals and space and conversations. He is the perfect example of someone who knows who he is and what he believes so much so that he's able to respond in love and grace to everyone around him.

John 3:16-17–For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.
The birth of Jesus is God's love story to his people.
Love is not about a feeling, although it brings on feelings, but more so, it's the action of putting someone else before yourself. Joseph put Jesus and Mary before himself. Mary put God before herself. God so loved the world (His creation) that he put it before himself and paid it all.
This love is received when we choose to believe.

The Magnificat - Luke 1:46 - is a song of praise by the Virgin Mary.
What makes this song so magnificent? It demonstrates Mary's foundation of faith. She knew scripture so well she carried it in her heart and readily on her lips.
Mary's worth was not that she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus. Her worth is that she knew she was a beloved child of God. No matter what call God placed on her life, Mary would most likely have faithfully said yes.

God's motivation to create this world, and to create man, was love. Even when man fell and sinned, God loved us so much to send his son.
As we light a new candle week, we meditate on another of Christ's characteristics - peace.
What does peace mean to us today? What does the peace of Christ mean to us today? The turmoil Mary was living through with Roman rule is similar to the war and oppression we have today. And yet, Christ came to deliver peace then and now.

Today, our state pastor, Steve, leads us through the Old Testament and the New Testament, and the greatest rule above all else - LOVE.
Matthew 37 HE said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command. 39 THE second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.

The word transcend means to rise above or go beyond the limits.
What is your limit?
What keeps you from rising above the normal average crowd of people who are struggling in this life?
A good example of transcending faith is found in the story of the Shunammite woman in the Old Testament. This is where we start today, in 2 Kings Chapter 4. The story begins with verse 8

Proverbs 24:16
–
Though a righteous person falls seven times, he will get up, but the wicked will stumble into ruin.
The important point in this scripture that Pastor Ron leads us to understand is the contrast between the righteous person and the wicked. It does not say that a righteous person will not fall, but the implication is that he or she will fall many times.
The difference is that a righteous person will get back up!

In the first week of this series, and the first chapter of Colossians, we were welcomed into the story through Paul noting that Jesus has already rescued us from the domain of darkness and into His Kingdom.
The second chapter of Colossians, we moved the frame of view from the Son to the challenge. A group of false teachers were trying to get the Church in Colossae to add to Jesus some secret spiritual knowledge and binding them back to practices intended to earn salvation and was causing them to head back into the darkness like emperors with no clothes.
In the third week, last week, and the third chapter of Colossians, we see Paul come to the pivot point. The central idea of the whole writing, that if we are being transformed from the inside out by the person and character of Jesus, we are no longer spiritual streakers, but start to “put on” armor that pushes back the darkness.

What's the secret?
The secret is that Jesus is not found in the extremes of viewpoints or lifestyles that we argue for today.
Jesus isn't leaning heavy one side or the other... over sports, over religion, over politics. Jesus is found not in the middle either, he's on the very outside calling us to seek him above all other things in this life...

How often are we fooled by the shiny things and shiny ideas the world gives and yet so completely unsatisfied in the end, and still left in need? When in reality - all we actually need is Jesus.

What if we decided to flip our perspective, as the church, to see the places we live & the people we interact with as glorious opportunities to be more like Jesus .
Meaning - what if instead of looking at major metropolitan areas in our country as hopeless and not likely to follow Christ, we saw our cities as hopeful opportunities to spread the message of salvation and introduce them to Christ!
God doesn't call us to be on mission for him in areas that are filled with Christians already - instead God calls us to places that need Him the most and says "With me all things are possible"
Pastor Gage encourages us today to see our city, Arvada and the Denver Metro area, as an opportunity to grow the church.

Responsibility is made up of five characteristics:
honesty,
compassion or respect,
fairness, accountability, and
courage.
Being responsible means making the right choices, it means identifying and accepting the consequences… good or bad… of the decisions you make. Ultimately, it means considering how your actions will affect people and situations around you.
Our responsibility to our faith means, believing and caring for those around us. It's not just about absorbing the grace given to us, but also how we're showing grace and leading through example to others.

To walk as Jesus walked means to go into the margins of our society where the poor, the brokenhearted, the foreigner, the sick are cast out and overlooked.
Jesus spent his ministry reaching out and being with those who no one else wanted to acknowledge. Jesus saw each and every person as a bearer of His father's image. A precious child whom God dearly loves.
If we are to change the world, we must learn to love others as Jesus did. WIth compassion & mercy. And we are to care for their needs - this is justice. To feed the hungry, to give water to the thirsty, to cloth the poor, to free the prisoner. And we know we can do this, because Jesus says to call on him for strength.
Today's message is about justice, mercy and movement.

The final week in our series and we're going to discuss some remaining questions we received.
Can we question God?
Does God want me to be happy?
If money is the root of all evil - why does the Church talk about it so much?
Why should I find a significant other in church?
How can I pray for my kids?Loads of great questions - and as we continue on in life and in our faith, be assured the questions will continue to flood in.
Our journey of faith is just that - it's a journey. The longer we go the more we'll learn, and the more we learn about the heart of God the more we become the children He created us to be.
So even though we're ending our series, do not stop asking us questions. And in turn we will never stop asking questions too and leaning into what God is teaching us in

This week's question: Why do bad things happen to good people? What defines a good person? Why doesn't God stop evil people?Today, we invited a few fathers to dialog and share their ideas, experiences, and questions as well.
Ultimately, what we can know for sure, is that God calls us all into His goodness. He calls us to love, show mercy, be humble, and be joyful. But in that journey - to pursue that path - we do also know it isn't always the easiest or more enjoyable route for anyone to take.
As fathers who have dedicated their lives to raising up future generations - how do we set an example and nurture not only our children, but our entire families?

Is a person welcome into the family God while they struggle with addictions, depression, identity, or whatever else? OF COURSE.

The next few weeks we're going to ask hard questions, and look at scripture for answers. But also scripture paired with history for context, because context is key. And the questions of our faith often come from not fully understanding what scripture is speaking about.
So what about hell? Is it true - and who ends up there? Would a loving God really send his beloved children to an eternal furnace?
The question that kicked off this series is:
Why is hell the least taught topic in churches?
Why don’t the spiritual leaders of our communities teach on the forces of evil?
Why are church leaders afraid to teach the truths of hell and those deemed evil?Let's get started!

Who, or what, is on the seat of the throne of your life?
It seems generation after generation, our ideas of happiness, sexual openness, and "freedom" keep pushing the boundaries of the previous generations before us.
As we listen to the words of Jude, the author is pleading with a culture that is disconnected between the body and spirit. At this time, there was a belief that what you did with your body had no ramifications for your spirit. You could follow Jesus AND have the sexual freedom you desired.
Media in general teaches us that our sexuality is the deepest and truest thing about us… it is A Lord if not THE Lord, and if it addresses Jesus at all, it tries to redefine the boundaries so that Jesus can be Lord over a part of our lives… that “soul” part, but it gets to be Lord of the other mental/emotional/physical parts.
he problem is, Jesus’ words are clear that our mind, body, and soul… our head, our hearts, and our hands… are all integrated and interdependent as one being.

Will we be influenced by the loudness of society or the love and truth of the Lord?
It is hard to decipher the pure intentions of those with the loudest voices in our lives. With so many messages hitting us from all sides it can be hard to avoid getting caught up in what the world defines as truth, and what God's Word tells us is truth.
The Word tells us that we know other believes by their actions - how are we living out truth and love that reflects the heart of God?
Pastor Chaundra leads us this Mother's Day in a message about wisdom. Asking God to gives us the wisdom to know how to navigate the voices around us, and how to help others navigate these voices too.
When we stand firm in the truth of God‘s word, and we show love to others we create unity. And when we turn away, or we help others turn away, from our deceitful nature and we walk in love, God rejoices

Influencers?
This is what we have titled content creators on our social media platforms. Influencers - people we look to for style advice, lifestyle advice, business advice, even spiritual advice.
But this isn't new - influencers have always had a place in our lives even if the title wasn't given before. We are constantly influenced by the voices and messages surrounding us.
Even in scripture there is a warning against "influencers" those who may not be walking in alignment with Jesus, and could easily lead us astray too. But we also have influencers, characters, back then who were walking with Jesus.
In our lives, we must be steady ourselves on the Word of God and in our relationship with Him. We must recognize how many voices we're allowing to speak into our hearts

Sad?
Excited?
What first comes to mind when you think about God’s feelings/thinking towards you? What if you were God's favorite - how would that change how you lived your life?

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love.

As we continue to study the name of Yahweh we continue to learn more about God's character... specifically the relentless love of God.
5 The Lord came down in a cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed His name (Yahweh) “the Lord.” 6 The Lord passed in front of Him and proclaimed: (Yahweh, Yahweh) is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, 7 maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But He will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation. As Pastor Lee leads us in the Word today we are reminded of the convenient God made with Abraham - that he will bless him with many nations. That covenant was a contract and God has never backed away from it. Despite all the relationship whoas and breakdowns, God has remained faithful to his promise. He's given us his name - his love - and continued to be with us throughout history.
The invitation of the covenant that has been fulfilled in Jesus… that we would be blessed to be a blessing to all of the nations of the earth… means that God is GOING to set things right in the world. But, He’s going to do this through those that bear His NAME.

God has a name... and it isn't God.
In Exodus, Moses stood before the Lord on the mountain and worshipped as He proclaimed:
The Lord - The Lord (YHWH, YHWH) is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, 7 maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But He will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.Yahweh - Hope.
We're going through John Mark Comer's book, "God Has a Name." We're contributing the inspiration for this series, and much of our understanding on this topic, to Comer's work in this book.
We encourage you to read along as we together process this profound truth and introduce ourselves again this Easter season to Yahweh, our Hope.

What can you give up that you can replace with opportunities to bring you closer to God?
What will you says no to in order to say yes to the call God has on your life?As we continue to pursue the things of this world we continue to end up empty.. and dry. Even as we pursue good things that we know will help people, without God in the mix, our efforts will become burdens.
We need to pursue God continually - daily - in our alone time and in our community time. When we pursue God we lean on Him to provide direction, and purpose in our lives. We will never be left wanting while He is in control of our lives.

Detox is a process in which one abstains from or rids the body or mind of toxic or unhealthy substances.
If there is anything that we can learn from the life of Jesus, it is that he spent a lot of time alone with God to renew his mind and his heart.
Pastor Ron leads us in an understanding of Bible meditation... unlike many other forms of meditation that focus on self, Bible meditation focuses on the Word of God and His truths.
Biblical meditation involves reading, contemplating, personalizing, visualizing, singing, and praying God’s Word. It is examining God’s Word from different perspectives. It is like placing the Word under a microscope instead of viewing it through a telescope.

As we close out our series on navigating this new world - we come to a point in the conversation that either makes or breaks one's trust in the church - the topic of GIVING.
God doesn't request our money as a tax we owe... or as a means of control. What God simply requests from us is our TRUST. A trust that we can hand over to him our lives and our finances, and He will take care of us.
Generosity fueled by faith reorients our heart to God's heart. It brings us in alignment with His peace. Are we willing to give God what He really ultimately wants - our full hearts?

We are going to discover how to live in an overwhelming world without your head constantly feeling like it’s just one inch below the water.
We're in Acts 2:42 this week learning about how the church then gathered together, devoting themselves to one another and to following Christ.
How do we spend our time now? Is it focused on how we live and serve God, and love one another well - or is it focused on US? (Our desires, our needs, our wants and dreams....)
It's hard not to wish we were more like the church in Acts.. and it's hard not to blame other Christians why there is division within our faith. But if we can be honest, we too have a role in the disconnect with our fellow believers.
Pastor Lee encourages us to ask, what is it we devote our lives to? Not to shame us, but to encourage us to reevaluate and redirect our thoughts and patterns of our life.

God is in the business of revivals.
To the young—or the young at heart—to those who hear what’s happening at Pentecost or Asbury and you feel compelled to strive for similar things: You are not too young to catch a vision of what God is doing
To the rest of you—to those who feel like God is done with you or like Moses in the wilderness, you are overcome by the shame of your own history and would plead with God to “send someone else:” You are not too old to have a dream from the LordPastor Gage leads us today in the Word and with a message of truth - No matter who you are, what you’ve done, how old you are, where you come from… God is in the business of Revival God is in the business of redemption

What we give our money, our time and our attention to… are the things that really matter to us. And it is this type of change that we have seen in our world in this past couple decades.
This change has made a significant impact on our culture. The desires of the heart has taken many people away from the things of God.
The message that God delivered through the prophet Isaiah was that people are like flowers and their faithfulness is like grass that fades and withers
away.
And yet God’s people can look to the Lord our God and his Word for comfort and strength because his promises are reliable and eternal. That is where faith comes from.
Pastor Ron leads us in a message about how we can navigate the world we live in, and yet stay steadfast in our faith when everything else seems to be falling apart.

We're spending the next five weeks studying the frameworks developed by the early Church as we consider what's next for us as followers of Jesus
The first of those frameworks is
UNITY OVER DIVISION
Unity hasn't always been easy for humans... not even when Jesus was alive and amongst us. But after Jesus died and rose, the people of the time came together to be united in prayer. They made a choice to be united. And it was difficult. There were times when arguments and disagreements led to division.... sound familiar?
Unity is a continual commitment - we have to work at it. BUT what unites us in Christ is more precious than what can divide us in the world.

It's our last week (for now) studying Psalm 23 together - but don't stop coming back to this beautiful passage as much as you can. Because what you'll come to find to be true is that God never tires of us and our concerns. He forever is our good shepherd here to guide, nourish, and care for all of us.
The question now remains - when was the last time we preached the gospel to ourselves? The message that Jesus loves us, died for us, and is with us... when was the last time you took a look at the valley you're in and breathed deep the goodness of God?
This passage is as much for YOU as it is for your neighbor. We encourage you to take a look at this passage and ask yourself, what does this mean to me?
Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live.

It goes without saying... we are anxious. And for many of us that anxiety and worry takes over our hearts and our minds. Research shows that, yes, many of us believe in a spiritual presence but if we're honest, most of us feel a total loss of hope regardless of what we believe is true.
That's why we come back week after week to Psalm 23. The psalmist knows that WHEN we walk through hard times or are challenged by our enemies we need to be reminder that GOD IS WITH US. Not only is this the message of Psalm 23 but it's the hope that is promised throughout the entire Bible. God is near, He is restoring everything to His perfect will, and God is love.

As we continue our meditation on Psalm 23 we are honored to have Reverend Al Salgado lead us through verses 3-4...
3 He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name's sake. 4 Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-- they comfort me. (Ps. 23:3-4 CSB)
Here... the psalmist knows that he is the sheep and that God is the good shepherd. He knows God's promises are true, and He (God) will provide the restoration and rejuvenation our souls need. Though we are weary and burdened - God is here.
As you listen to the words God has put on Reverend Al's heart to speak remember..
"concerning our souls… following anything but God will always lead to depletion, but following God will always lead to completion."And consider... how can you spend 5 exclusive minutes with God daily going forward?

We're beginning our new year, 2023, on REST.
Throughout this time, we're learning what it means to prepare and participate in God's call for us to rest.
Psalm 23, a testimony of David, reminds us that the LORD is our good Shepard, he welcomes us to be still in His presence, and He provides for us as we lean into a closer relationship with Him.
This week Pastor Lee takes us through the first few verses of this Psalm - let us enjoy a time to slowly and intentionally listen and reflect on each moment of David's writing here...

Happy New Year!
We're spending January 1, 2023 studying what Jesus said about the end of times... not in the Book of Revelations but in Matthew.
Jesus cautions us to be on alert of false prophets projecting about the end of times. He himself says only God knows when this will be... Jesus does not want us to be consumed by what's to come at the end... instead Jesus came to show us how to LIVE day-by-day. To pursue a relationship with our Heavenly Father, to love one another as brothers and sisters, and to care for all of God's creation. Here and now.
Jesus came to show us how to be ready for whatever comes our way. What if we lived every day in this new year (and beyond) leaning more and more into the characteristics of Jesus and the plans God has for us?

It's the fourth week of Advent - and we're celebrating the Prince of Peace.
Jesus is THE promise of our creator for all of us... not just some of us, not just those back then and when... but today for all of us.
But today it seems we forget that this promise is still here for us - in our struggles or joys, our normal day-to-day, Jesus is here and he is waiting for you to invite Him into your day-to-day.

Today's message "The Gift of Preparation" isn't about getting ready for Christmas or celebrating this specific birthday for Jesus - it's about being prepared continually for the reasons God has given you life. Pastor Ron reminds us of the gift that prepares you for living each day of your life in the grace of God and it prepares you for life eternal with Jesus. This gift is not only important, but it is essential if we want to live our life Evergreen… meaning alive in Jesus all year long.
And this gift of preparation begins with a pre-Christmas story. The stories in the Bible are there to teach us and help us understand God’s purpose for our life. Like an athlete prepares for their time to be in action - so must be we prepare our hearts, minds, and attitudes towards God's calling.

How many of you have heard…
• God created you on purpose for a purpose
• Live into your God-given purpose
• You were made for such a time as this
The reality is – these are completely true – YOU are created on purpose, and God has purpose for your life. When you surrender and seek a relationship with God, He will direct your path into the purpose he has for you. You ARE made for such a time as this! And God, designing us for His purpose to love him and show love to others, has given us all various gifts to lean into this purpose. Gifts to encourage others, to teach one another, gifts to lead and help and care for one another.
This season we want to be filled with joy and purpose and hope but to be honest, I think a lot of us feel fairly beat up, tired, unsure that we’re still able to have purpose or that God has a purpose for us. Our series Evergreen is a call for us to live out the spirit and hope of this season all year around... but what if we don't believe anymore that God is still working in us after all we've been through? That's the message our live stream producer, Anne, shares today.

Today we begin Advent, and a month long celebration of the birth of Christ. This is a special time of the year meant to focus on God sending His son to earth to be with us all...
But in the hustle of life, especially this season, we often forget to actually spend time with Jesus. Pastor Chaundra shares her own story of learning to let go of all "things" that take up time to allow for time spent with Jesus - the One who deserves it all.

As we wrap up our message series on Kingdom Impact we are encouraged to reconsider our own scarcity mindset...
What is that? Well, it's a state of mind in which you don't think or believe God CAN take care of the situation.
A scarcity mindset is looking in the face of an UNREASONABLY GENEROUS God and telling ourselves that there just isn’t enough. A scarcity mindset is… fundamentally a lack of trust… a lack of faith… but, more than anything, it is a lack of personally KNOWING God.
As we continue to study the life of Elisha we realize that our scarcity mindset comes from a lack of relationship with God, a relationship that gives us the absolute certainly that God's got this.
“Elisha clearly had a mind-set of the abundance of God. He also knew that God would allow us to settle for less if we did not ask for the more.”Let's get started!

When all seems hard, dark, and lost - remember this:
"I can't. God can."
Today Pastor Lee leads us in a story through 2 Kings about a situation when God comes in and solves problems that seem almost impossible to us as humans.
And the Bible is full of these moments when someone can't but God can...
And that is the intersection of your story. You can’t. God can. God has dreams and hopes for your life that feel impossible… but God is possible.
And, here is God’s dream. God’s dream is to use the least likely people to change the world. People like you and people like me.

As we talked about last week… WE ARE NOT WHERE WE WERE, BUT WE ARE NOT YET WHERE WE WILL BE.
Pastor Lee starts us off with a question we all can relate too.. HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN A VERSE OUT OF CONTEXT AND TRIED TO USE IT TO MAKE GOD DO SOMETHING FOR YOU?It seems all to often we want results and answers without the heart-shaping process God really has for us. And we forget that God is God, He knows everything, and we don't. What if we began to look at the opportunities and obstacles in our lives as gifts from God? "Submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.” What does this mean in regards to your marriage, or family?
As we're continuing our journey in the letters written by Paul, Pastor Lee leads us in a conversation about how we're suppose to live well and joyfully with others within our household.
What does submission look like? And is there a hierarchy? And what can we learn about the culture back then but still apply to our culture today?
Like it or not, your family is where you have the most opportunities to grow the fruit of the Spirit. You are given the opportunity to experience the agonizing development of patience. You are given opportunities to grow in kindness… because, as Paul says elsewhere and to paraphrase, if you’re not going to be kind to those who live in your home… what hope do you have to learn to be kind to people “out there?”

Human beings sometimes do just the opposite of what one might expect… even those who call themselves Christian. But this is not a new thing at all.
There is brokenness all around us. And… like Bizarro World, this upside-down broken world seems normal to many people, but it is in total opposition to God’s Kingdom. We have let this brokenness creep into our lives... and the way that most of us deal with it is to just accept it as the way things are…or even worst ignore and hide from it...

In Ephesians 3, we’re going to encounter God’s PLAN to change the story for AHS… to change the story for your family that feels like it is falling apart… to change the story so our feelings of pain don’t get the final say… and that Plan is… the Church.
God could easily come up with a different plan… a different way to spread the message of Jesus, which brings hope, transforms lives, develops character that leads people to and spreads more and more love, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness, generosity, kindness, and self-control… a different way to introduce people to Jesus who heals our brokenness that we can’t restore on our own.
God could EASILY come up with a different plan… but, it’s almost like He refuses to. Across history, God has proven time and time again that He doesn’t WANT a plan B.

This week we’re continuing a Jesus conversation as we dig into a writing known as Ephesians from the New Testament of the Holy Bible.
We have been in the graveyard because of sin. Like our earthly forefather Adam before us, each and every one of us have tried to dethrone the King and Creator of the universe. Like Adam and Eve before us, each of us have tried to define good and evil for ourselves, moving God off of the throne of our lives and crowing ourselves king of the castle.
But, Scripture and the entire witness of every second of history of the known universe and beyond, reminds us PAINFULLY that sin doesn’t crown us as kings and queens, it enslaves us and puts us in tombs. Sin makes us spiritually dead… And like all things that are dead, we become unable to respond on our own to the promises of Grace and Mercy in Christ.

We’re starting a new series entitled COLLISION. Over the next 7 weeks, we’re going to take an introductory look at the writing known simply today as Ephesians.
And here's the big idea...
THE BIG COLLISION OF EPHESIANS: Ever since sin came into the world, things have been falling apart. But, IN CHRIST, God will gather everything together in a restoration that will be INCONCEIVABLE to even our greatest imaginations.
But let's now dive deep, together, and really come to understand how in Christ all things are made new.

Expectations and hopes are both beliefs and wishes about the future. Although these two ideas are similar, they are not really the same.
Today, Pastor Ron takes us back to a familiar story of a couple, Abraham and Sarah, and they hopes as well as expectations they had on their lives to see how God transformed each one of them. Why is it that we have such a tendency to cut people out of the picture?
Is there someone that was once in the family picture, but the pictures on the wall got replaced. If a name is coming to mind… I want you to picture their face and just linger on their image for a moment.
We all have someone that we want to leave out, forget, from our family because we feel ashamed for their actions.. embarrassed for who they were and what they did. But here's the thing... Jesus came from a family of broken people. Not His Heavenly Father, but His earthly family.. the ones who Mary and Joseph belonged to.

What often happens is we create “Sunday School versions” of Biblical figures that help us when we are spiritual infants to get introduced to a historical Biblical figure… but, the unfortunate thing is that is often where we stop.
And, like a cartoon or caricature, we end up seeing real people through a distorted image or lens that highlights certain features, but doesn’t look as much like the real enfleshed person.
When we keep the caricature version of the Bible, the people who lived and experienced this history, and God’s movement in the world, we often miss the deeper truths that God is teaching us.
Take for example, the Great King of Israel named David. What do we know about David?

Pastor Ron tells us about Gideon in the Bible, who obeyed the call to lead a small army to defeat his enemies. Oh yes he questioned and doubted, even challenged, but he ultimately surrender and trusted God and His plan.

What does your lineage mean to you? Do you have someone in your family that you makes you proud of where you came from... and do you have someone in your family that makes you wonder how you're from the same blood line?
The Bible loves to give us the family tree of characters. In fact... you can trace the family tree of Jesus. It's fascinating to know that Jesus comes from a lineage full of ordinary people, broken people, heroic people - just like you and I.

Have you considered that in truth we are all from the same origin? We are all God's children and together we make up His body
According to the Apostle Paul, we were “predestined by God into adoption as children by Jesus Christ”. This means that God chose a path for you and me to walk, if we chose to follow Jesus. And you are not alone on this path because we are members of one another.

When we’ve brought all of our questions about life about why people get hurt by the church, about what we believe about this or that, or about why bad things happen... We encounter a God who meets us in our brokenness and offers healing, hope, and freedom.
But when we chase after dreams of money, fame, sex, or power we end up feeling the void and wondering what more life can have for us to make us feel whole.
Today, we focus on the one foundation that will not let us down. The one place we can truly build our lives that will outlast the storms.
As we close our series, we encourage one another to reconstruct our life alongside God.

Why do bad things happen to people? How do we come to understand the evil of the world and a loving, healing Father?
To explore this together, we’re going to go on a little journey through a book in the library of Scripture known as Job.
Just to keep in mind as you listen to today's message: When everything falls apart, God is there. He doesn’t cause the bad things that happen to us… that’s on the will of the enemy… and our choice to invest in sin until it pays us back in destruction.
But, God promises that He will wipe away your tears. He doesn’t promise that the pain will go away instantly… because sin and destruction have consequences… even if it is someone else’s sin that has splattered onto our canvas… But, He promises He will be there. His plans for you are good. They give us hope.

Welcome to Altitude Church Online. We exist to have a transformational impact on 1% of this city, one person at a time. We believe God is doing great things and we invite you to be a part of His mission for this world.
Pastor Ron leads us in understanding the importance of following Jesus in community. God's plan for the Church is His people gathering together to worship and share His love and Word to the world.
It's in community that we are able to rely on another for support, to grow our trust and faith, to wrestle with our challenges, and to learn to love others like Jesus.

What is the church?
Why does that question matter to you?
That's what we're diving into today.. perhaps redefining WHAT the church is to WHO the Church is. We believe the Church is not a building, but a people who gather together and to follow Christ and share his message with the world.
The Church (us) has the capacity to uplift or hurt others. As Pastor Lee often quotes, "Hurt People Hurt People. But Transformed People Transform People" we want to step into the calling to be the love and the hope and the examples of Jesus to our community.

Altitude Church was born out of a dream to see our city transformed by the hope that can only be found in Jesus. In 2019, Pastors Lee Brown and Ron Olsen met together and shared a vision, resonating out of Ephesians 3:20-21, that God would take two declining, yet historic, churches and birth a new Kingdom ministry from them.
This is our story, our vision, and our invitation for you to join us along with God to see this city transformed by HOPE!
