Even though shepherds often had a bad rep, we find them leading God's people throughout the Bible. Abraham was a shepherd, and so were Moses and David. Jesus referred to Himself as the good shepherd. So it makes sense that when the angel brought "good news of great joy," it would be to shepherds.

In Luke 7:36-50, Jesus interaction with the sinful woman shows us forgiveness starts with faith and a repentant heart.
We hope for many things:
- We hope it doesn't rain.
- We hope the test comes back ok.
- We hope our flight isn't delayed.
- We hope our kids make good choices.
In its ordinary form, hope is full of uncertainty; however, biblical hope is distinctively different. Biblical hope is rooted in God's character, faithfulness, and sovereignty.
Do you ever feel like something's missing? According to Barna Research, inner peace is the number one thing Americans are looking for spiritually.
When we try to find inner peace on our own, we're often met with barriers. But Jesus offers a peace that is beyond this world and its troubles.
In John 13, Jesus set an example by washing the disciples' feet. In that simple act, He showed that our love is expressed through personal humility and serving, reminding us, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
From time to time, we all have doubts. But as we see from Jesus' one-on-one conversation with Thomas, Jesus can handle our doubts. He will meet us where we are, give us the assurance we need, and call us to something better.
Jesus doesn't demand that we understand everything about Him, just that we trust Him.

In Romans 16:25-27, we see what God does ("Now to him who is able to strengthen you …" v.25)and who He is (“… to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ!” v.27) as we continue to look at how doxologies can "elevate" our faith.
Doxologies teach us to worship God and about the God we worship. The more we come to know who God is and what He does, our praise will elevate our relationship with Him.

A healthy Christ-follower needs rest - spiritual rest, physical rest, emotional rest, and relational rest. Let's take a look at how God gives us strength when we practice and experience Sabbath rest.
We were created to live in community, not just in a community. As we look at the early church in the book of Acts, we'll see how living in community is one more way God gives us strength.
If we look at the life of Jesus, we see a very valuable lesson about prayer: the busier we get in life, the more time we need with God. Regardless of how or when you pray, if you give God the space, He will impact your life.
If we want to find new strength, if we want to know the will of God, if we want to have peace, we have to allow God’s word to be God’s Word. The Bible shows us who God is, who He wants us to be, and therefore should be our final authority for everything we believe or do.
If 2023 is anything like the last couple, we’re going to need new strength. While everyone around us is checking out, burning out or lashing out, God has something better for those who wait on Him. Join us this month we say together, “Give Me Strength!”

Love doesn't hope others will sin, gossip about sin, or join in sin. It seeks truth, shares God's goodness, and celebrates other's success.
Love doesn't not allow itself to be easily provoked or to keep a record of the failures of others. Love remembers that God forgives and forgets!
When love insists on its own way, it becomes selfish or, even worse, self-seeking and manipulative. But godly love is a love that faces outward as it focuses on goodness, blessings, and joy for others.
Love is not arrogant or rude, both of which are rooted in selfishness. Instead, love acknowledges that we are not the center of the universe and looks to love others selflessly.
At the core, envy and boasting are questioning God’s plan, His choices, and His goodness through rebellion. Christ-centeredness is the only way to overcome envy or boasting.
Love exercises patience and shows kindness, yet long-suffering love and undeserved kindness that honors God is so hard that we can’t practice it without God’s help.
Jesus told His followers there was one thing they should be known for: their love! Yet, love may be the most overused word and under-lived value today.
