Come to think of it, yoga isn’t just about the stretch. It’s about connection; Of your mind, With your body, and your higher self. Post realizing she was meant for it, today’s guest (Annie Oklerlin) at Her Next Best Move followed the teachings of yoga to serve traumatically injured service members and their families. From lost to found, Annie Okerlin's journey through yoga led her to a calling of serving those who have served us. Heading the Exalted Warrior Foundation, she currently provides adaptive yoga and meditation to wounded service members and their families today. She bets on yoga for healing trauma, resetting the nervous system, and helping individuals achieve a sense of safety and security.
Did you know that the heightened state of survival experienced by traumatized individuals can also affect their digestive systems? The core to healing from trauma is to turn inward. Annie teaches you how to do that through meditation and contemplative practices for self-reflection and self-care!
As she talks about her journey and the work of the Exalted Warrior Foundation, you’ll see how to count on the practice to achieve a sense of peace and security. Find the strength and processes to heal. Tune in to this episode now, or whenever!
Key Takeaways:
● Yoga and meditation can be powerful tools for healing trauma and stress and can help reset the nervous system. It's important to take time for self-care and connect with oneself daily.
● Trauma can affect the body's nervous system and digestive systems and can make it difficult to experience positive events. Self-reflection and turning inward can be achieved through meditation and contemplative practices!
● Meditation can be effective in reducing violence and increasing focus and attention, and emotional education for children can help them regulate their emotions and avoid negative behaviors.
● In yoga classes, it's important to create a safe container where students feel comfortable having their own experiences without the teacher becoming a part of it. Teachers should know their strengths and weaknesses and take time to hone their craft over years of practice.
● Breath is important in regulating the nervous system and creating stability during challenging postures. Yoga doesn't always have to be about pushing oneself to the limit but rather about finding stillness and peace within oneself.

Have you yet discovered your true purpose in life? Fret not, for we’re not questioning your soul-searching today! Instead, the guest for this episode would tell you why she, like most of us, discovered her purpose after a lot of personal and professional trials and errors. She was in her 40s, in the middle of plentiful opportunities to be aware of the world, when she started to feel her purpose in life in the form of emotional clues. How those little clues felt like and how it showed her that her purpose lay in helping ordinary women interested in theater get an opportunity to be on stage and live their dreams – sums up our energizing conversation for today! You wouldn’t want to miss this!
How did Fran begin this journey? It started with a mission to open minds and hearts. When your mind and heart is open to something new, you're paying attention to yourself more and more. Fran and her team started to work with middle-school girls about 20 years ago, handpicking and counseling those interested in leadership and theater, inducting them into a summer program to teach them the skills to become better leaders and performers, and giving their all towards this idea despite them not having a theater, to begin with. Then they started building plays, asking women if they had a story to tell, and helping them craft their stories if they did. Through renting spaces, practicing in people's backyards, dining rooms, law offices, churches, and anywhere they could, they started growing as a community and began building an audience for themselves. The idea was to give women a stage to perform and express themselves through the power of storytelling.
The Fran Powers you’re hearing about is the Founder and Executive Director at the Powerstories Theatre Inc. She debuted with the PowerStories Theatre agency in November 2000. And by August of 2001, her group had performed at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Centre to sold-out audiences. By 2010, they had won the prestigious Arts and Humanity Awards presented by Michelle Obama at the White House. The group boasts of a rich history and a proud list of accomplishments garnered over nearly two decades of existence!
Episode Highlights:
● Pay attention to the feelings of passion that keep bubbling up for you.
● Remember, your life is speaking to you. Keep listening.
● Open the heart and mind to new possibilities.
● Live and experience outrageous joy whenever possible because that is what life is all about.
● Dream big and always believe in yourself.
● Stay focused on your vision and your emotions because they are clues.

We all have unique paths to uncovering our dreams. Jessica Brown’s too, was. Born to mixed culture parents and raised singly by her mom, she grew up in Panama and assimilated the culture very young, thanks to her kind neighbors and her efforts to try to come across as good all the time. But her attempts to impress everyone started to take a toll on her mentally when it became painfully forced.
Forced authenticity manifests into a need for validation, something you shouldn’t seek from anyone else. On the career front, Jessica managed to get into the military to avail its free education program and served its mandatory years before venturing into recruitment and people management after graduation.
Jessica confesses that her journey with attaining self-validation has been challenging – it might not even be over yet. But things do become better with the help of a friend, don’t they? For her, it was her teachers who understood her story and the younger kids she tutored who saw her for who she was and how she treated them. Her need for external validation came down from their good company over the years and taught her what most people fighting internal battles desire from others: see themselves for who they really are.
Today, you’ll learn how Jessica mustered the courage to follow her own path and use her scars as a symbol of resilience, uplifting others with the knowledge she has. As a recruiter turned professional coach, Jessica’s next (and forever) best move is encouraging women and young girls to know their worth and see themselves for who they are and not what society or social media tells them they are. If you’ve always seeked someone else’s opinion for validation, today’s episode will teach you how to drop the unconscious act!
Episode Highlights:
● Use all the tools in your toolbox. Your scars and insecurities are as much a lesson as are your victories.
● Mentor the upcoming generation. It helps you get closer to becoming the leader you want to be and gives mentees a way to be seen.
● Self-worth and value begins with you.
● Embrace yourself fully – with all your flaws.
● Ask how you are in service to others if you want to get closer to your purpose.
● Your scars are a symbol of your resilience.
● Take time to understand who you really are. And don't be afraid to do the work.

Dr. Yass is a world-class revolutionary pain specialist who has successfully treated thousands suffering from pains and failed surgeries. “Sometimes help can come in the most unsuspecting ways. We just have to be open to that.” Darcy

You'll be surprised, but my guest Mari Campbell can speak with animals. She's also blessed with the awe-inducing ability to communicate with spirits and has had that since she was a child. It took her a minute, but Mary could eventually turn this inexplicably rare connection into a full-time profession as a motivational heart-inspired medium. She also became an international best-selling author with her book SOLUTIONS FROM THE SOUL: 8 Keys to Opening Your Ability to Communicate with Spirit, where she outlines her understanding of psychism and spirit communication in simple words for anyone reading to understand easily.
Mari's soul messages are accurate, heartfelt, and compassionate. As a medium, Mari helps people communicate with the spirits of their deceased loved ones to help them gain closure and comfort. She tells us that there's life after death and that the spirits of our loved ones have a life of their own; they might always be around us, but we just don't know it. How did she get into this field of work? Taking a professional route for this journey happened only years after becoming a mother when she visited a meditation group and tried guided meditation. Her spiritual teacher helped her discover things about herself that she otherwise wouldn't have – like, having a fondness for the color black and wearing it all the time, for example. Surprisingly, this color thing set the cacophony of change in her life, encouraging her to dig deeper into her spirituality. She found it intuitive. Felt like she somehow just "knew" things. From there, she focused on taking meaningful courses to grow her abilities and alter her life for the betterment of everyone.
Mari's biggest IT factor in life is awareness. Whether it's your choices or purpose, as long as you're aware of things, you can lead a life you truly desire. Listen to this episode to learn about her spiritual practice and know everything Mari has to offer you with her skills and learnings!
Episode Highlights:

Being different isn’t easy, especially in a world that constantly tries to reduce us to the voice of the collective. Dr. Annie Wang knows it too but is undeterred by it. Owning her own clinic is her American dream and she’s unfazed by the challenges that come her way as she reveals in her conversation with Darcy in this episode of Her Next Best Move.
As a Chinese medical practitioner settled in America, she’s faced the odds to rewrite her career by not just switching from an engineering profession to a medical one, but from her home country to another one whose even language she couldn’t speak so well back then. Dr. Annie is inspired by her grandfather who was a Chinese medical practitioner and wanted to be like him growing up. But you know how it goes in conservative families – you’ve to follow a path they pave for you! Dr. Annie was led by her family into Engineering as she was good at Maths. However, life came full circle for her when her desire to see the world outside China, coupled with her interest in medicine and the heart to help people, helped her find her way into medicine again! She was different by choice but did the work to pursue the path less taken, fearlessly.
Today, she talks about holistic wellness and the mind-body connection from her experience as a medical practitioner, both from formal education and Chinese traditional medicine knowledge. She explains how traumatic experiences are stored in our bodies and how her practice helps us release them. Dr. Annie’s specialty is acupuncture needles. She knows the human body architecture to a T and is able to use her acupuncture needle technique to work with her patients and release their hidden trauma. To learn more about it, make sure to hit the play button. This episode is unmissable learning!

Been using the term “trailblazer” too lightly? Well, here’s why you shouldn’t:
‘Cause then, you’ll have to invent a better word for my guest Mae Krier, who could VERY WELL be the SOURCE of THAT AND EVERY other uplifting word for women everywhere! From starting her work with Boeing in Seattle as young as 17 years, Mae was one of the youngest and original Rosies of the WWII era who worked as a riveter on some of the most important airplanes in history; the B-17, and B-29 aircraft. Mae talks about what was happening in America during those times including the great depression, and the dust bowl, and what it was like to be one of many Rosies called to step up and work in factories as American men were called to fight, leaving the factories empty. Women across America rolled up their sleeves and filled those jobs and answered not only the world but America's call during one of its greatest times of need. Mae and her colleague's hard work and dedication were infectious while keeping our troops equipped with aircraft as they faced some of the most challenging battles of Hilter's Military. Women really stepped up to do their part and serve and she tells some great stories about what it was like in those days to be a woman in a man's world.
Now, at the incredible age of 97, Mae is still leading the way for many others to reach for the stars. If that didn’t cause you to slip off the chair, know that she's still traveling all the way from Pennsylvania across the country and internationally to France and The Netherlands continuing to share her story, inspire the generations ahead and keep the legacy of the Rosies alive.
When you listen to her speak, you’ll hear her message echo loud and clear - no matter your age or background, you HAVE the power to make a difference in the world and you can absolutely fulfill all your dreams in life if you believe and work for it. Today, she discusses a number of lessons she’s gathered in her life and the changes she wishes society to bring in, including cultivating respect, the importance of knowing one's history and ancestry, creation as one of the most important joys of a woman, the strength of women, especially from her generation, who often had to carry a lot of responsibility and be everything to everyone, and how to help and support one another in this one precious life!
Mae’s tireless efforts to encourage young women to pursue their passions have left an indelible mark on our world. She is a true role model and a living legend who proves that with determination and hard work, anything is possible!
Here are the episode highlights. Have a quick read:
● Women can achieve anything they set their minds to, no matter their age or background.
● The importance of respect and helping others cannot be overstated.
● Creating and the journey of creation is valuable, not just the end result.
● Role models, mentors, and leaders are important in empowering women and driving progress in society.
● Learning from history and valuing hard work is crucial to personal growth and success.
● The impact of war on individuals and communities can be significant and long-lasting.
● The importance of access to news and information cannot be underestimated.
● Despite challenges and difficult times, it is important to appreciate the good things in life.

The theory of a "starving artist", one who struggles to make ends meet, isn't just insanely false, but unhealthy. Myths like these keep passionate artists worldwide from pursuing their crafts confidently and not only end up leaving them unhappy, but depriving the world of the art they could otherwise experience. Enter Cara, my guest for today's episode, who, despite all the negative narratives, gathered the courage to leave behind all her fears to pursue her passion for art full-time in a magical moment of self-reflection. She ditched the discomfort of not having a day job to dive full-time into equestrian art and her obsession with horses – a thing she had in her since pre-school. Cara's story breaks the myths around life as an artist and what it takes to leave your naysayers dumbstruck with your success as an independent artist – featured exclusively in today's interview episode of Her Next Best Move!!
We all have plans for our careers at some point in our lives, and so did Cara. But her execution of them was a little different: she went with her plan A only when her plan B (the corporate hustle) had gone south. Cara was also terribly unhappy in her corporate job. For an artist like her who thrives in fresh air, sunlight, and freedom, the office wasn't cutting it. She knew she had to branch away, and when she went with her plan A to pursue art full-time, there was no going back to the unsettling old trajectory.
She tried, screwed up, but learned from her mistakes. And she kept doing it again. She started small, worked hard, and made it big. Her determination, never-give-up attitude, and talent have helped her acquire many new techniques and make a living out of her art alone. She's learned to be comfortable in the face of rejection, has developed her own point of view, and knows the kind of energy she needs and does not need in life.
Today, Cara shares the success secrets from her inspiring journey to help you flourish in yours! Tune in to know how she built a unique obsession with horses since she was nine years old, how it kept reigniting at different points of her professional journey – and how it finally got into her so much that she decided to leave everything else behind. It's a one-of-a-kind story you do not want to miss!
Highlights:
● No matter how many times you screw up, don't be afraid to keep pursuing your goals.
● Whenever you do something different or start to find any success in life by going out of the norm, you'll encounter naysayers.
● Learn to cut out the noise.
● Surround yourself with people who lead you to joy and happiness.
● It's okay to do a soft transition and side gigs as in your journey to becoming an artist or following your passion.
● Passion is an undeniable knowing.
● Have a point of view and keep exploring that. Own that point of view.

In this episode, we have invited Chris Burnett, a professional psychic who's been a paid psychic for about 20 years. Chris will gather your most accurate messages and information about any subject using only the gift of seeing and speaking with Spirit Guides. She brings a professional standard to all readings.
Chris’ Background [01:35] Chris grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. She knew about psychics because that is where well-known psychic Edgar Casey had his center. Chris’ mom volunteered there. So by the time she’s 12, she knows all about Edgar Casey.
[02:39] Chris was 37 when her guides came to her and said, It's time to get to work. She was meditating for one and a half to four hours a day, and the psychic world opened up.
Focus [06:47] A lot of people will call Chris because they want to be psychic. They know they're intuitive. But only a few are willing or have the time to develop that FOCUS.
Becoming a Psychic and Turning Off the Outside World [10:00] Chris’ husband always thought psychic stuff was just something cute that women did. But he always supported Chris and never said derogatory words. Her sisters loved it because she got to practice on them.
[13:32] Most women have more courage than they know than they believe. But anybody can develop their focus by practicing every day, even if it's only 15 minutes or half an hour, and just talking to the guides and listening.
Divine Order[19:41] If you follow that train of thought far enough, you've got to realize that your entire path led you to this one that was meant to happen.
[21:36] One of the absolute first things the guides taught Chris was every day when she sat in meditation with them, they taught her affirmations that she said with them over and over and meditated.
[23:15] Chris starts her day with meditation, in which she’s doing positive affirmations that set her day up in a positive manner so that she starts feeling good about herself each day. It goes back to what you are choosing to focus on each day.
Dealing with Trauma[26:42] The guides taught Chris, in the beginning, to keep it in the present moment. Every time you look at the past, it's just a big black hole. And anybody who lives in the past will be lost, and they will stay.
[28:17] Keep it in the present moment. But you're paying attention to the past. You're just not living in it again. You're making friends with yourself, and you're not looking in the rearview mirror at the little kids scattered behind you.
Messages from Spirit about what’s happening in the world[38:17] Chris was always thankful that she didn't have to receive like there was going to be an earthquake or there were going to be disastrous events. The guides, whenever somebody talks about what's happening in the world today, say, Okay, go back to history. So what they always point out is that it's not that the world is any force. It's that the information we are bombarded with is instantaneous.
Message for listeners from Spirit[42:14] Trust your heart. The heart is the crown jewel of the body, where the Spirit comes through the message board of the body.

If foster care is a necessary invention, mental health wellness is a very close cousin. Between living in foster care from the age of six until 18 years old, to barely graduating high school with a 2.0 GPA, working in bars, strip dancing, and being labeled a “bad girl”. B.A. Crisp opened her eyes to life’s constant reinventions. But when she finally got hold of where she was heading in life, she decided to make the best out of it. Today, she’s left a mark on others with her efforts, education, and knowledge. Excited to learn about the events and experiences that led her to this point? Don’t miss this episode!
Meet B.A. Crisp, a best-selling author, advisor, and “thriver”! You’ll hear B.A. and I discuss several human topics, which we must know but have little to no knowledge of, including human trafficking, psychiatry, psycho-psychological human conditions, strip club operations, and legal challenges faced by dancers, sexual harassment, gender equality, and a lot more. B.A. explains how her life’s journey led her to understand (and live) many of these issues and how she’s used those times as a learning tool to help others who’re navigating them now.
Episode Highlights:
You’ll have your ups and downs in life. Accept them. But learn from your tough times. She recollects having had a period of time filled with bad decisions, such as bars and strip dancing. Then, she’d tried enrolling in local community colleges a couple of times, but she'd quit if she did not believe in herself enough. Eventually, something clicked, and she went back to school and finished.
Life is your best inspiration sometimes. B.A.'s mother was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic, a condition many were unaware of back then. She explains how that led her to study the supernatural, remote viewing, and visualization, as well as the science behind it all. She uses her interest in fiction to reconcile her mother's illness, and create a character with a similar experience.
Meet The Guest!B.A. Crisp is a best-selling author. She has advised the Department of Homeland Security on anti-human trafficking efforts and received a Homeland Security Service Award nomination in 2015. She has also acted as an advisor for private contractors and national security, providing research advice and analysis. In addition, she has volunteered with the Collier County Sheriff's Office anti-human trafficking team and worked as a psychiatric assessment specialist at a metropolitan hospital. She earned her B.A. in psychology from Ursuline College, graduating Summa cum Laude, and her M.S. from George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, receiving the valedictorian distinction. School of Journalism. She attended Exeter College, University of Oxford, U.K., and the London School of Journalism. During her childhood, she was a ward of the court and foster child and is a human trafficking survivor (although she prefers the term ‘thriver’). She has authored two books and her third book, Emergent, will be available in March 2023. (link below)

As someone who embraced her grays early, I can’t tell you how proud I feel to reveal today’s episode, Victoria Marie is a Filmmaker and the Producer and Director of the award-winning documentary “Gray is the new blonde”. She’s also a super-proud “Silver Sister”! As she reveals her journey of creating the masterpiece of a documentary, you’ll learn how your grays make you stand out as unique and authentic. You’ll also get to learn how to take care of your grays and flaunt them (curly, wavy, or straight, we’re discussing it all!).
You might be hesitant about embracing your grays at present, and that’s okay. But, as Victoria would tell you, it’s a phase before your transformation. Once you accept your hair as it is, you’ll never want to go back to dyeing! All and all going gray is a transition that happens emotionally, mentally, and physically. I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode, whether you ditch the dye or not, this episode dives deep into finding and embracing your authentic truth, whatever that looks like.
Meet The Guest!
Victoria Marie is the producer and director of the award-winning documentary “Gray is the new blonde”. When moving from Florida to Los Angeles in her 50s to pursue a career in the entertainment industry (mind you, she had one credit from a movie with Burt Reynolds and was competing for more opportunities against women about 30+ years more experienced than her!). Around that time, she made a YouTube video about her gray hair, titling it “Gray is the New Blonde” as it had been some time since she dyed it! She realized the beauty industry made money by making women feel bad about themselves and wanted to change that. Surprisingly (and delightfully), her video hit a nerve with people! People thronged into the comment box writing about the topic and supporting it. There was a large audience for the subject of “women going gray”!
Over time, with no particular monetization strategy, she made “Gray is the New Blonde”, the award-winning and sensational documentary. Creating it with meticulous detail and patience, she brought people on the journey of going gray. That’s also how she met David Nelson, who was her director of photography. As she recalls her journey creating the documentary, she reveals she wouldn't change a thing about it!

Understanding How Astrology Works with Olga Theocharous
Are you an astrology lover? Today you are in for a treat! I have the fantastic Olga Theocharous joining me on the show to give us a better understanding of astrology. There is a lot of misconception that tarot reading, being a psychic or a medium, qualifies you to be an astrologist. Olga Theocharous was born in South Africa, Johannesburg and lived there until she was 14. In 1991 my whole family moved to Cyprus, where she attended an English private school in Paphos. At 28, Olga enrolled at a college in England that taught Astrology. She has been a full-time astrologer since 2008.

With her unique blend of evidence-based practices, functional lab testing, energy medicine, and a dash of humor, Erin's approach to women's health is truly one-of-a-kind. Erin knows firsthand the struggles of disordered eating, negative self-talk, and autoimmune issues. She's dedicated her career to helping others find their way out of the same struggles. In today's episode, she shares her knowledge of the importance of taking charge of your own health, listening to your body's needs, setting boundaries, and creating sacred space for self-reflection. She also talks about the tricky balancing act of attachment and authenticity, and how important it is to model self-care and boundary-setting for children. Plus, you'll learn about the power of intuition and emotions, the importance of self-care, and the concept of inner child work. All in all, Erin's got a wealth of wisdom to share – don't miss out on this opportunity to "eat" it all up!
As a board-certified integrative and functional nutritionist today, she helps women get to the root of their health issues and find answers to their “mystery” symptoms.
Episode Highlights:
● Listen to your body and develop the skill of self-awareness, rather than outsourcing health decisions to professionals or influencers. Take breaks from distractions, such as screens, to allow for deeper self-reflection.
● Dr. Gabor Mate's concept of two core essential needs: attachment and authenticity say that often, attachment, or the desire to be close to others and belong to a group, can overpower the need for authenticity and act on one's own needs. This tension can lead to trauma and impact both mental and physical health.
● Listen to your intuition and emotions in order to discern one's life purpose and make the best choices in life.
● The idea of inner child work involves re-parenting one's inner child in order to heal past trauma.
● When someone is dealing with a health issue, it is important to address all four bodies (physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual) in order to find a path forward. This may involve addressing physical factors such as diet, gut health, and hormones, as well as exploring any underlying beliefs or life lessons that may be contributing to the issue. It is important to meet oneself where they are at and not rush into spiritual or metaphysical exploration before addressing more immediate physical concerns. It is also important to remember that illness can be an opportunity for growth and self-exploration and to approach it with curiosity and openness.
● Be present and aware in order to identify and address negative thoughts and behaviors.

Meet The Joy CEO, Lori Pine
Her first job at Anheuser Busch was buying beers for people in bars; for company promotion and partnerships. Crazy because she wasn’t even so much of a drinker! Lori, The Joy CEO, is now an Executive Coach to women looking to make their next best moves to a life with more purpose, joy, inspiration and peace!
Lori made her journey to the executive level herself by way of big corporate names such as Anheuser Busch. She got her start in marketing and learned the ropes by creating a community with local distributors and gaining exposure. Though she didn’t stay there for long, Lori already knew how tough it was for women then to get exposure to climb up the corporate ladder without divulging into such promotional activities. However, perseverance and hard work seek no validation. Lori’s hard work eventually led her to land a critical role at Coca-Cola. All this while traversing motherhood, divorce, parenting, and her mom's death, a critical support element to her life.
The following years saw her take up multiple roles and responsibilities, founding and managing a marketing company for three years, doing consulting work, and circling back to corporate as the VP of Campbell’s, a role she held for a period of time until She decided to walk away and find something that filled her with joy and passion.
And then? A brief silence. Do you know that point where all the career hubbub comes to a sudden halt? That’s the kind of silence that teaches you to introspect. Lori decided to reinvent her life and take the time she knew she wanted for herself – spend it with her family, on her kids, and focus on herself. She hired a coach to help her uncover her life’s purpose and discover her gifts. The process helped her realize that mentorship was her jam. She built on it and, today, helps executives and entrepreneurs navigate their personal and professional lives despite their high-performance careers.
Lori’s story on this episode of Her Next Best Move leaves us with a very important lesson: when you know your internal self is nudging you, telling you that you deserve more than you have right now, take it as a hint. We often dream up our businesses based on an untamable idea or an unconsciously drawn interest, only to realize afterward that we're neck-deep in details. Imagine chasing a vision you don't know would become a bankable career in the coming years: how do you move forward despite not knowing if it will materialize?
Enter Dr. Elizabeth Stroot, an Entrepreneur, Executive Coach, Corporate Clinical Advisor, Wife, Mother, and the founder of Core Wellness Physical Therapy. Dr. Elizabeth chased her hazy vision of researching integrative wellness (before it was even a thing!) out of her sheer fascination with the human body's functioning. Her love for medicine, traditional allopathic subjects, and everything we now call integrative health, wellness, and medicine (and what was then called "alternative therapies"). Her path encouraged her to shadow experts in the field, from orthopedic surgeons to physical therapists, reflexologists and yoga instructors, Elizabeth's passion involved learning from anyone about looking objectively at how the body feels and functions – and the emotions that go with it.
In this episode, Elizabeth explains how everything about our bodies is connected and how all our questions and problems, including worries about a career change, can be addressed by first feeling our inner vibrations. She talks about the power of visualization, changing what you embody, and exuding energy to others in helping draw the right people or certain clientele to you.
She also talks about the mind-body connection by explaining how patients with chronic pain or old injuries see their pain manifest into trauma – physically, mentally, and emotionally. The key to navigating those painful phases is constructing small wins in the head, changing the narrative to" how I can still do everything I ever wanted to do", maybe just not as fast as others. As an endless optimist, Elizabeth believes in setting goals, even if it's in your 40s and 50s, and envisioning them – because that's where everything begins. She also shares what it takes to be a good therapist and how to help patients feel safe around you.
Elizabeth reveals learning from the lows of her life, especially the loss of her father during the pandemic, a period of a thousand unknowns, about the power of showing up. She also gets into "The Great Resignation" that's come about post-pandemic and why it's a sign people are starting to recognize their priorities in life.
Episode Highlights:
● Inventing an open door policy for your therapy clients – creating a safe, vulnerable space for them to talk about their problems than live with them internally in their minds.
● Working through emotional pain is essential for relief from physical pain.
● The Great Resignation is people's awakening to the hamster wheel of life that they've been running on for so long, realizing what they've been into only when they stopped.
● The roadblocks we throw up in front of ourselves as we fear doing something new. ● Finding a new rhythm after the pandemic.
● Working with the conflict of how we're raised and shaped to be go-getters.
● Formulating your unique strategies for growth.

Think being a stay-at-home mom means putting an end to your professional career? That’s until you listen to this conversation with my guest Michele who’s leveraged her home management skills to become a Big leap coach! Currently, the Co-Founder of Michelle and Dean LLC and her husband Dean, Michele is supporting individuals and couples to awaken their aliveness and step into a wholesome life. Her help with persona work is particularly valuable as it helps you understand yourself and the world around you.
Interestingly, Michele ventured into coaching only 12 years ago, in her midlife, after her three kids had grown up mature, and she had to navigate a divorce. She’d spent a large portion of her life homeschooling her three children and managing her household – a thing a majority of moms would be overcome with insecurity about:“What about your career?” As if home management isn’t management?!
At 50 years -ish old, Michele circled back to her learning, devouring any courses she felt a connection with; she learned for the love of learning. Despite being professionally absent from the workforce for years, she wanted to see where life could lead her. In her leap, she finally found her calling – at the Hendrix Institute, where she could utilize all her knowledge in spirituality and psychology, which got her into her successful full-time coaching practice.
Now, Michele conjures up all her learning to answer your more significant life questions: What are the indicators that we have something inside that needs to be resolved? How do we release our hurt and trauma? How do we process fear? How can we step into a more wholesome and creative life? She answers all of those in brief today! Make sure to tune in!
Episode Highlights:
● Build an environment of acceptance – it’s crucial and helps us inspire and be around inspiring people.
● Love is about people being in the same space.
● Drop your fear of making mistakes; you only grow when you make them.
● Befriend your fear; there’s always something you will be afraid of.

What makes a bounty hunter’s job interesting? Rainy Robinson from the hit TV reality show Dog's Most Wanted on WGNA, Dog & Beth Fight 4 Their Lives on A&E, and Dog & Beth on the Hunt on CMT, speaks with me on this episode of Her Next Best Move about her journey to becoming a bail bonds agent and a bounty hunter after multiple trials and errors in different businesses, her experience on the popular reality show serving as the right-hand woman for Beth Chapman, and how she dealt with the pain of losing Beth to terminal cancer in 2019 – while the first installment of the series was in production.
You sure know Rainy as the bounty hunter pursuing wanted fugitives on the Dog series, but do you know she only finished a high school diploma because the manicuring school she wanted to attend had a mandatory diploma requirement? Or that she’s owned a restaurant, a gas station, a body shop, and a nail salon in the past? Rainy has traveled through many paths before bail bonds and believes that if you want to pursue the profession, nothing stops you from doing that.
And … if you've come across people who say the bounty hunter’s profession is for males? They’re lying. As someone who’s been in the field for considerably long, Rainy would tell you there are as many males and females in there. The gender or status myth shouldn’t stop you from pursuing your desired path.
Aside from the technical tips to becoming a successful bounty hunter, Rainy also leaves you with impactful advice for career success. She says that every single one of us is influential and has the power to change someone's day – even if it’s with just one word. Tap into your own power to change your and others’ lives. Be your own inspiration.
Episode Highlights:
● Give victims as much clout as they deserve.
● We’re being guided all the time. Listen to that voice.
● For the most part, people are inherently good. There’s undeniably a small group that is inherently bad and will never change, but most people are good.
● Understand the fragility of people in situations.
● Every single one of us is influential.

Afraid of taking the next step toward your dreams? After hearing from Riley Barthold, our guest for today’s episode, your worries will start bowing down to your ambitions.
An accidental pro cyclist, artist, professional athlete, artist, and physical trainer to the celebrities in the greater LA area, and above all, a go-getter, Riley grew up on the East Coast in a wealthy family, living a fancy lifestyle. But as if in the blink of an eye, her life turned. The result? A restart of her life in rural Vermont in an abandoned, no-electricity maple sugar shack. Her journey is incredible because she’s seen those experiences as learning opportunities. You’ll be surprised to hear how she never allowed her fears, worries, or tough times to bring her down.
If the term pro-cycler got you excited initially, let’s tell you Riley never had any solid plans of becoming one. At 26, at the cusp of getting married, Riley decided to break her pre-engagement and go to Los Angeles. Mind you; she had $1,000 to her name.
She’s been ready for the opportunities, whenever and wherever, and has fun, come what may. She steps out of the line whenever that lands her a fair opportunity to do something she wants to. She doesn’t shy away from chasing her passions because she thinks isn’t the best at it. If you can do what you love and make decent money to live a comfortable life, what’s stopping you from pursuing that path?
Tune in to this episode to learn timeless lessons about living the life of your dreams. Learn to keep your fears at bay and confidently create a life you love to live.
Episode Highlights:
● How a non-biker, Riley went on to win one of the top 10 deadliest bike races in the world.
● Figuring things out and not being afraid to fail because of where you come from.

If you’ve been a regular listener of Her Next Best Move podcast, you probably already know there’s no end time for new learning or career change.
Dr. Lynn Joseph, our guest for today's episode, proves that further by sharing her ground-breaking career pivot at 40. A wanna-be Barbara Walters, Dr. Lynn graduated with a degree in journalism. She got her first job as a pharmaceutical sales representative by chance and was incredibly successful. However, sometime down the line, she realized she wanted to start her own business – travel and click photographs for work when that didn’t survive the test of the long term. She was required to pivot and reinvent herself.
Enter phase two of her life. A few pivots later, after the financial losses, at age 40, Lynn realized what she wanted to be: a psychologist. Another reinvention that changed her life forever. She studied psychology and obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology before starting her practice. With a solid corporate background and a desire to help the working community, she conducted breakthrough research on motivating laid-off employees to find new jobs quickly. And the results were unbelievably outstanding.
Lynn’s visualization framework that helped people process their heavy feelings, internally rehearse job interviews, and meet with their own future selves who already had the new job they wanted – in less than 20 minutes – had a positivity rate of over 63%! Her research was also published in a peer-reviewed journal of the American Psychological Association. The kind of recognition her work has received, which I insist you check out, too, is exemplary!
Dr. Lynn had so much more to offer to the world than she did through her previous jobs. If you wonder if a career/job change is possible and seek actionable tips on making the shift happen, today’s episode was made for you! Don’t put limits on what you can achieve. If you want to hear the whole story, do not forget to tune in!
Episode Highlights:
● What you think might be a mistake could be a blessing.
● Be yourself. Be friendly and allow yourself to show compassion.
● Healing happens in stages. So, be patient and allow yourself to go through the stages.
● Follow the excitement and where it could lead you.
● Learn to trust yourself.
● Figure out which is the path of the heart and then be open to the unlimited ways in which opportunities can arrive to support those heart desires.
● Meditate to get intimate with yourself and gain a deeper understanding of what you truly desire.
● Set the goal not only in your head but also in your heart. Then, cultivate a strong desire to go after it.

Self-worth Sam, our guest on today’s show, doesn’t preach living the traditional school-university- job route. Instead, he teaches you to invent a career out of literally nothing! He says, “you can create an entire living or business around a talent you are passionate about.”
A bit-too far-fetched, you may think? But that’s until you hear about his story as a performer, educator, and course creator. Sam has played various roles, from beatboxing (which he demonstrates expertly on the show) and DJing to living mannequin performances, public speaking, teaching, and mindset coaching. Though people and societal rules have been one of the contributors, whatever came close to deterring him from his path was always the imposter syndrome. He tells us how he turned it around forever and became an imposter syndrome expert!
In today’s episode, Sam gets into living his life on his terms by learning from his Imposter Syndrome and the situations that led him to be called “Self Worth Sam.” They say when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right? Sam did. After a life-changing accident, self-worth issues crept into his life, disengaging him from his path, ridding him of his sense of self-worth, and putting him in a constant state of misery. Sam decided to make Imposter Syndrome his teacher. And today, he helps others do that too.
The battle of the feeling of being a “fraud” is a gradual journey; the more you learn from it, the better you become the next time the feeling comes knocking. As Sam says, perhaps, your imposter syndrome is teaching you to be humble, grounded, and focused on learning. Remind yourself about your vision and legacy whenever anything attempts to pull you away from your journey. Believe in doing things that help civilization progress. Everything else is … just noise.
Sam also teaches you, among many other things, to listen to your heart, and believe in the power of your heart. Whenever needed, it will tell you what you require for your own healing. “Follow your bliss, and the universe will open up doors (for you)!”
Episode Highlights:
● Your energy remains constant (by the laws of science). It just changes form. Similarly, everything in your life is always present. It's just sometimes in a different form, and you might recognize it.
● There will always be detractors and enemies to try and take your dreams and hopes away from you. So always be ready to level up from them. Play a bigger game, and you’ll get bigger enemies and bigger friends.
● Get clear on what you value. And manifest that into the world.
● Your self-worth is there all the time. You just might be attaching it to material things or people. So, whatever you think you need to have self-worth, go down that avenue and repair it from there.

The Power of Cellular Activation with Susan Alden
Today, Susan Alden joins me on the show. Together with her husband Jamie, Susan co-founded Mind Body Aloha. Their mission is to help others heal, transform, and evolve. Their journey began in 2003 when they opened The Open Door in Fayetteville, NC, the first holistic wellness center of its kind in that community. When the Military took them to their next duty location Hawaii, Mind Body Aloha was born. Susan is passionate about the power of cellular activation and traditional medicine; you can bet we will get into it.
Mind Body Aloha was inspired by their deep passion for sharing the knowledge gathered over the years. Their integrative, holistic approach to wellness infuses their experiences with wisdom, practices, and plant medicines rooted in Native American, Hawaiian, and ancient yogic traditions. Their workshops, retreats, and private sessions integrate powerful tools such as the Medicine Wheel, Ho'oponopono, Himalayan Kriya, Meditation, Functional Nutrition, and Nutrigenomics.
Breathwork is one of the most underestimated techniques that help us disconnect with our minds and be guided by our bodies. It is one of the healing techniques that Susan uses to help people heal. She will share how breathwork works, why it is essential, and how it can help us heal from trauma.
What's your purpose? Susan answers that in this segment with the wisdom she gained from her father and the Yogies in India as she describes her journey to find her life meaning.
In this episode, Susan and I will have an in-depth conversation on how she grew her business, how breathwork works, dealing with trauma, how to live your purpose, and the supplements she has been on, among other things.
