Nurturing the boychild podcast is a podcast that will help nurture your mind so you can be who your son needs you to be.
On this episode of Nurturing the Boychild Podcast, I talk about 10 ways to better nurture your mum-son relationship in 2023.
As usual dear 'boy-mum', my emphasis is you. Because parenting is more about us and less about our boys, all the points are directed at you, I've tried to equip you with tools that will help you first and then your son.
This episode promises to be a blessing to you as it was to me as I not only shared tips and hacks but explained in details with real life examples that helped drive home the points.
*I believe when we know better, we'd do better, so my dear boy-mum, learn something new, then roll up your sleeves and start to implement.
I'd love to hear from you. follow me on Instagram @ thatameenaismail.com and on facebook @ Ameena Ismail Balogun.*
On this week's episode of Nurturing the boychild podcast, I sit with the industrious and beautiful Rasheedah Adekeye. We talk about her new book 'The Power of Gratitude' where she admirably schools us on everything 'gratitude'.
She shares the benefits of being grateful, particularly in challenging times; why we shouldn't use gratitude as a band aid; how to teach our sons to practice gratitude .. and a lot more.
The highlight of our conversation was reading the excerpts of her book where she shares a true story of a man who after so many years of dealing with trials, not only survived but is today thriving despite all he's being through. Now, that's the 'Power of Gratitude'.
Sis, this is for you if you're going through any form of hardship (aren't we all.. sending you e-hugs). It's also for you if everything is going on well but you want to stay grounded and and not become entitled.
I hope this inspires you to go out there and shine your light as you cannot pour from an empty cup. Our boys need us to be fine..it's only then that they can be fine too.

She has being featured in numerous media houses, both physical and online conferences and webinars to share her knowledge and expertise on Infertility and IVF.
My guest has 3 sons of her own and being one who understands that parenting is service, it was such a pleasure to discuss what raising a boy in todays world looks like. If you are that mum who just wants to understand the art of raising boys, then this episode is for you.
Being a firm believer of tackling issues from the root, it is only proper that I begin this podcast series by getting us to understand the present situation of the boychild. If we do not know where we are coming from, how would we know where we are headed?
Who is a Boy Child?
A boychild is firstly a human..an innocent little human before being male. For the longest time, we've been made to see him as difficult, stubborn, disorganized... but these labels have neither served us nor them. We are losing our boys and making a change starts with us letting go of the beliefs we've held on to for the longest time. The boy child needs our help and the time to act is now.
Hello and welcome to Nurturing the boychild Podcast. I am your host Amina Ismail, a mum to 4 amazing boys. As my boys are growing, I'm a lot more aware of images of toxic masculinity constantly in our media, with stories of deadbeat dads and domestic violence, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to protect them from all these negative stereotypes.
On this podcast, I’ll share some tips that are working for me. On some episodes, we’ll learn from the experiences of other amazing mums and dads while on other episodes, I’ll invite experts to share strategies that will help us get the answers we seek.
You’ll learn and understand how the boychild thinks, how to better connect with him and of course, you’ll learn the discipline that works.
On this show, we will shine light on the amazing men that are doing an awesome job with their sons, which is sometimes ignored by the society. We’ll also emphasize the importance of surrounding our sons with HEALTHY male figures, their Dads, Grand dads, Uncles, Coaches, Teachers and Religious leaders because truly, it takes a village.
When we think boys, we think stress, dirt, rough, disorganized, …but just pause…and think HUMAN… a human, just like you, his mum…who needs to be nurtured, who needs love, warm hugs, gifts and sometimes a tickle.
Our society and culture has made us to see the boy child as our money making machine.(Sorry, but that’s the best description I can come up with at the moment). From the day he is born, so much pressure is placed on him.. He’s the one who will continue the family name, the bread winner.
He grew up to understand that all that matters to everyone is his ability to provide.. not only was his self worth was tied to provision, the importance of every other thing like good character, social intelligence, emotional intelligence and sometimes God consciousness was watered down.
Don’t worry, it isn’t all gloom and doom. This is where we come in… In this podcast, we are all going to be doing a lot of learning and unlearning. Here, we are going to define our vision for the boychild, learn what works for him and gift him with skills that’ll help him soar in life, the most important being love.
