Being innovative and imaginative are the most important qualities a human can have as we move into the future, so before the robots take your job, you better learn how to be creative. You're Weird talks to creatives, artists and people living their best lives, about how they do what they do, why they do what they do and why being a bit weird is a superpower.
This episode is my most stream-of-consciousness yet!
I've been juggling a lot of balls lately between my personal life, professional life, semi-professional creative life and creative lifestyle... It's a lot of hats and a lot of balls, and I've never been good at circus skills.
After talking with a bunch of creative people in my life, I realised it's a common theme - trying to manage all the elements of our lives that make us us.
With so many plates to spin, it's fair enough that we can smash a few or, at least, get a sore arm.
This episode is about all of that. I wanted to break down all the components of life but focused on what that means as an artist. It's an honest episode because it's something that I have struggled with at times, and these are the things I've learned and tested to try and make it... easier.
Some of it will be obvious, but we all take the obvious for granted sometimes, so consider it a reminder.
This episode is the biggest philosophy-vibed one yet. Much of it came from me figuring it out in my morning journal pages after sending myself mad with being overwhelmed and committing to too many things (typical).
Enjoy it, and consider it a big hug from me.
Happy 2024, kids!
In this solo episode I talk some honest evaluation on my creative outcomes for the year as well as my new practice to ensure that the next year can be successful as I hope for. It's a lose and honest chat and I give you some actions to make your next year strong as well as thank you all for being here!
A late episode, but a new episode nonetheless. Thank you all for listening, 2024 is going to be a knockout that I hope you're going to all be on the ride for!
Happy New Years ReVolution!

A solo episode where I get real honest about my experience of putting on my first solo show and how wild it is that it seems that all creatives feel the same thing through every phase of a new work that has intention of going to the public.
I learnt a lot about my creative self through this process, and the things that I need to make BETTER work.
This episode explores the similarities between different artistic disciplines and how you can be the best solo artist when you allow yourself two very important things.
Thanks for listening!

This is an entertaining, heartfelt, funny, and sometimes silly interview with Dr Suzie J. Jarmain, an award-winning performing arts professional with over thirty years as a performer, actor, theatremaker and writer. We had the best time recording this interview, and it shows; I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
Suzie is an educational facilitator with eighteen years of experience in the tertiary, public, private and corporate sectors, specialing in working with and utilizing the relationship between identity and realistic acting, performance and presenting.
She has worked with performance companies across Australia and the UK, to name a few; the National Theatre of Scotland (UK), BBC Scotland (UK), North Edinburgh Arts Centre (UK), Melbourne Theatre Company (AUS), Victorian College of the Arts (AUS), Melbourne University (AUS), NIDA Open, Melbourne Actors Guild (AUS) and Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP).
In 2016, Suzie was awarded the Australian Phillip Parson’s Prize for performance-as-research from the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies (ADSA, AUS), leading to her presenting her acting research at national and international conferences.
She is preparing to debut her new solo work, which we discuss in the interview, a show that is creating new approaches to combining live performance with educational methods and developing different techniques for actor training.
She has published a number of articles
It's a great interview with a wonderfully weird woman like me, please enjoy the episode with Dr Suzie J. Jarmain.

If there's one thing I'm a professional at, it's being burnt out. It's not fun, helpful and certainly doesn't help your creativity, so let's kick it to the curb.
If you answer YES to any of the following, this episode is for you.
There are many more burnout questions, but you get the gist. If you're tired or think you're getting tired, listen in.

Motivation is a powerful tool to get closer to your dreams -- next to fear and coffee... sometimes I mistake coffee for motivation ha!
But when life is throwing you lemons, you're tired and run down or you're just feeling yuck, when anyone says "you've just got to get motivated," it's annoying enough to make you want to throw a lemon at their kneecap.
It's hard to get motivated to do things you don't want to do, but sometimes it's hard to get motivated to do the things you DO want to do - why? And how to we get over it and get on with it?
Funny you ask, because the guest on todays episode has two books and one is named just that, Get Over it .
Today's guest is a motivational speaker who I met when volunteering with elephants in Thailand #cultured and she is an absolute legend. In this chat we cover change - internally and externally, motivation and what the resistance is to get over it and we talk about tools to see that resistance, throw a lemon at it and get on with the show.
She's an awesome chick and I highly recommend you go follow her on all the things (including listening to her podcast which I have a cheeky guest appearance on) - see below;

Raghda Abdel Khaled is a young creative and a young scientist doing brilliant things with ideas and concepts that make my mind toggle. Dark Matter? The fabric of the universe? Physics is this chicks jam and art is her release and her meditation AND she's using it to teach people like you and me about the wild place we love - the Universe itself.
We talk about being creative and making time to create, we discuss sharing your creative side to people who may not be interested or understand it and vice-versa, sometimes the creative side of your life don't understand the analytical side of you -- in Raghda's case, they're the most analytical - scientists.
If you want to find some courage to share both sides of yourself listen in, if you're interested in art, listen in, if you're interested in science, listen in, we had a lot of fun.

Axel is a really interesting and inventive music maker originally from Mexico and currently living in Berlin, Germany (when we recorded this interview). I met Axel at university in Melbourne, Australia and we haven't spoken properly in 10 years! Just supporting each other via socials from across the world.
This was such a fun and interesting interview as Axel is a challenge chaser, seeking out discomfort so he can grow, which influences his creativity and shows in his music style and his progression and discovery of himself as an artist.
He's been making music for most of his life and he has just released an album called "Still Unchained," a followup album to his last one "Unchained." I reference one of the songs in the interview called "The Hunger," which you will find in the album link below.
It was such a joy to connect with Axel I hope you enjoy the episode too!

In this episode, I interview Imposter Syndrome Expert Alison Shamir about the shackles many of us feel known as Perfectionism.
Alison is an expert in this field, gaining a reputation as an international speaker, certified coach and media contributor, aiming to empower people to become their most confident selves. She is also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and has had Leadership Leadership roles across the Technological and Media sectors. She combines both lived experience and professional expertise to help her clients make a transformative change. In this chat, we both talk about our personal experiences, how we have worked towards overcoming them, why it happens, and how it can be made worse due to external influences such as personal, professional or past traumatic experiences.
** Quick Edit: Alison refers to the brains bias towards negativity as being like 'Teflon.' This was an error and should be 'Velcro.' It doesn't change the sentiment within the episode, but if you're listening and think "isn't Teflon slippery?" that's just because we were so caught up in the chat the word was accidentally swapped out. The quote should be "“The mind is like Velcro for negative experiences, and Teflon for positive ones.” - psychologist Rick Hanson.
How great that when talking about Perfectionism, something wasn't perfect... maybe that means its extra imPerfect :)
Little trigger warning, we do talk about workplace bullying and the mental anguish it can cause, so please be aware, and if any of this stuff is happening to you, seek help and find a way out/to overcome the experience. I'm not a pro in that field, but there are ways that you can call out and remove yourself from those situations, it's just about talking to the right people. Reach out if you need help.
If you would like to work with Alison or know more about her or her work, please check her content below and follow her.
It was a pleasure to chat with Alison; I hope you enjoy it and it helps you overcome your Perfectionist brat!

Jarryd Goundrey is one of Australias best rising comedians - I'm not just being bias, I am a tough critic. He's lead a crazy life with amazing stories which now act as a well of content for his comedy. In this discussion, we shine a spotlight on how creativity was able to prosper for him even when he was in the army - a place were creativity and imagination are stamped out of you in training, and WHY on Earth he would choose to become a fine dining chef and then comedian. He's a glutton for punshiment, but damn he does it well. Listen to this chat if you're wanting to feel a bit of pride in your quirk, a bit of inspiration when things feel desolate and bit of bravery when it all feels a bit too scary. He's got a great story and a brilliant outlook in life and I'm excited to bring this interview to you today.

In this episode I am discussing a random bought of anxiety attacks ON STAGE, how I got over it and exactly why we even feel fear when sharing our work or speaking in front of people. If imposter syndrome attacks 70-84% of people, who are the 16-30% who don't feel like the police are about to come in and take them away for being a fraud, and how can we be more like them?
Imposter Syndrome is a big bad resistance and that's why I got a big awesome expert on the podcast to talk to us about it.
Her name is Dr. Valerie Young and she is the co-founder of the Imposter Syndrome Institute. She has dedicated her life to understanding this phenomenon and helping people overcome it.
We had a brilliant chat and there's a lot of actionable takeaways. Check it out.
