Hosts Bisrat and Gelila, along with producer and co-host Mr. D'Aquila delve into the historical context of racism and discrimination against Black Canadians, including land ownership, mortgage denials, and government policies that hindered opportunity. Our student hosts welcome a group of students to share their voices and provide valuable insight into the impact of micro-aggressions on their lives and education. In this podcast episode, we'll dive into the history of the film "The Birth of a Nation." We'll also examine the damaging stereotypes portrayed in the film and their lasting impact on media and everyday life. We'll explore the origin of the "brute" archetype, which was prevalent in the late 19th and early 20th century, and its relation to the portrayal of black men in "The Birth of a Nation." Barnum, was one of the most famous and successful circuses of the era. However, as technology advanced, the circus became a relic of a bygone era and eventually lost its reign as the nation's premier form of entertainment. But unfortunately, the library's legacy is marred by its destruction at the hands of those who sought to control knowledge and suppress the truth. Throughout its nearly 1,000-year history, the Great Library of Alexandria suffered several burnings, with the most famous ones being ordered by Julius Caesar.
However, the true story of the Great Library of Alexandria is shrouded in myth and mystery, as our primary sources are few and often conflicting. In this episode, we will explore the history and legends surrounding the library, including the debates over its size and location, and the impact it had on the ancient world.

Onoda was stationed on an island in the Philippines during World War II and after the war was declared over, Onoda refused to believe it and continued to hold his post deep in the jungle for 29 years. Despite numerous attempts by the Philippine government to convince him the war was over, Onoda refused to accept the surrender until his former commanding officer flew to the Philippines and formally relieved him of his duty in 1974.
We will explore Onoda's motivations for refusing to believe the war was over and how his actions impacted not only himself but also the people of the Philippines. We will also take a deeper look into the concept of duty and loyalty in the military and how it relates to Onoda's story.

Episode 1 - “Teach Me the Various Labours of the Moon”
In this episode we look at the "Great Moon Hoax" of 1835. This event involved the publication of a series of articles in the New York Sun newspaper, which claimed that a group of astronomers had made incredible discoveries about the moon using a powerful new telescope. The articles, which were written by a journalist named Richard Adams Locke, described bizarre creatures and landscapes on the moon, including forests, oceans, and winged humanoids. The articles caused a sensation and were widely believed at the time, but they were eventually revealed to be a complete fabrication. Despite this, the "Great Moon Hoax" has continued to capture the public imagination and has been the subject of numerous articles, books, and even a play.
