A group of mums of children with life-shortening conditions who are set to tackle the Welsh three peaks for Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice on 7th May.

We’ll hear from one of the Mums taking on the challenge, Alex Forbes from Llantwit Major, about why she’s taken on the feat and her Ty Hafan story.

A local artist from Barry has been announced as one of the support acts for Tom Jones on his Ages and Stages Tour. It’s not the first time Bethzienna has worked alongside Tom Jones, as she appeared on the 2019 series of the Voice UK, and she joins later in the show.

Plus we’ll look at the local events going on in the Vale and in sport, talk about the final day of the Cymru South season - and more cup glory for Barry.

The Times has unveiled a list of the top factors that make your local area a better place to live, with it including a Library of things - similar to traditional libraries, you can borrow items when you need them for a small fee.

Two libraries are set up here in the Vale of Glamorgan, one in Penarth and one in Barry both under Benthyg - which has a vision of creating a wales-wide network of libraries. We’ll hear from Amy Greenfield, who runs Barry Benthyg about the benefits of borrowing.

Barry Town United are back at the top table of Welsh men’s football - they’re the new Cymru South champions, unbeaten in all competition since last November and they’re on on course for a league and cup double after winning the Southern final of the Welsh Blood Service Cup - we’ll hear from Manager Lee Kendal about their bounce back to the Cymru Premier.

Plus we’ll look at the rest of the week’s sport, including news of a boost for Cardiff’s hopes of becoming a host city for Euro 2028.

It comes as new research reveals around four in ten people don’t know any signs of a so-called red flag and the levels of awareness are even worse in deprived areas of the UK.

On Thursday, the Vale of Glamorgan Council is holding an unpaid careers event to highlight the support available to the Counties carers. We’ll hear from one local carer who says the support she received helped her and her family massively when her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Llantwit Major came together as a community on Saturday to 'peacefully' protest against a far-right group who opposed plans to build temporary housing for Ukrainian refugees, at the former Eagleswell School site. Our reporters Ellie Spark and Kate Bryony spoke to those attending and residents in East Aberthaw are hopeful that a new roll-out of 20mph speed limits across Wales will help reduce speeds in the Village, our reporter Ben Jones has been out to speak to locals and councillors.

In this edition, we’ll get reaction to the news that Cardiff Bus fares are going to rise from April, with changes to fare boundaries in the Vale of Glamorgan.

We talk to the women who are raising money to give gift boxes to babies with Down’s syndrome. They took a “ walk under the stars” through Cardiff yesterday on World Down Syndrome Day. 

Last week the long anticipated deal to buy Aberthaw Power Station by the Cardiff Capital Region was completed. But the announcement by Capital of future plans to develop the station into a large-scale renewable energy factory that will bring in thousands of jobs has raised some concern for local residents. Our reporter Callum Webb has been to St Athan, to find out the views of local residents, and 65 businesses in Barry are coming together to run an Easter egg hunt in hopes of boosting business for local independent stores. We’ll hear from the event's organiser about what it aims to achieve…

We take a look at some of the most talked about news stories in the Vale of Glamorgan over the last seven days, including a 4.9% increase to Council tax in the County - we’ll hear from Council leader Lis Burnett about the decision to increase tax during a difficult time for many residents.

Today is International Women’s Day, with events to celebrate taking places across the County. Chloe Seaton’s been to Penarth Pier for a special event and will speak to some of those who spoke at the special event.

We’ll also hear An author who has released his debut novel, called the Boy in Makeup, a coming-of-age story focused on social topics and an insight into what it’s like as a gay teenager growing up in South Wales.

A group of students based at UWC Atlantic College, Near Llantwit Major, who created a language app for refugees and asylum seekers have won a top award. Aliem was developed by refugees who have gained full scholarship at the College. Our reporter Chloe Seaton will speak to some of the students involved in the project on tonight’s show.

Who doesn’t like the tale of Beauty and the Beast? Next week Pupils at Pencoedtre High School in Barry, will be performing the broadway version of the show over four nights - with all of the community invited to attend. We’ll speak to some of the cast and teachers behind the production.

On the first edition of the Vale this Week in February, as teachers in the Vale of Glamorgan and across start the first of four days in a series of walkouts by the NEU in a pay dispute, we’ll hear from one of the teachers on the picket line about the conditions in schools and what they hope to achieve from this and future strike action.

It's always said that are too few opportunities for young people, in February an event is being held to showcase the further education, higher education, employment, apprenticeships, careers advice and well-being support available to 16 - 25 years old in the Vale. We’ll hear from Angelina Patrick from the Vale Council about what the event is aiming to achieve.

And if you fancy being more green fingered, a Barry foodbank is setting up a community garden, thanks to funding from Keep Wales Tidy and its looking for local people to get stuck in this Saturday.

In April last year, Barry Market closed for the last time - following a decline in stalls and the challenging economic period. Now, a new operator is set to bring life back into Barry Town centre - with two markets each month, starting in February. On this weeks edition of the Vale This Week, we look into the recent increase in the number of people enjoying wild swimming across the Vale coastline. It follows the activity being given a boost after a number of beaches featured highly in the latest bathing water quality standards. We’ll hear from James Tennent, a local wild swimming fan, who submitted the application for Penarth and hear about from Grant Zehetmayr, one of the founders of the Dawnstalkers group, who can be seen taking a dip early in the morning in the Town.

On this week's edition, we hear about a Ty Hafan campaign called when your world stops, which has raised over £340,000, for the Sully based hospice. The campaign was inspired by Rose, who died at the hospice in February of 2022. Her parents, Andrew and Catherine Jeans and her 9 year old brother oliver, faced the campaign and we’ll hear from Jenna Lewis Ty Hafan’s Director of Income Generation about the success of the intensive fundraising campaign.
