Living a simple life & finding your rhythm LLC: Recent Episodes

Marie

Hello, I'm Marie Laverriere and in this podcast we will explore what living a simple life looks like. I moved into a 293 square feet cottage across the street from the ocean over three years ago and I share my experience with decluttering and minimizing my possessions, my time and my thoughts. I encourage people to simplify their lives at their own pace. On this podcast we will also explore what finding your rhythm is because simplifying life is very personal and everyone does it differently. Decluttering and simplifying also sometimes referred to as "minimalism" are great tools to lowering stress and anxiety in one's life. In my work as an LCSW (licensed clinical social worker in Maine) I discovered that some of the people I worked with over the years with anxiety and depression benefitted greatly when they simplified their lives even in small ways, they noticed that their symptoms lessened or diminished. In my experience creating and living a simple life is a holistic approach to wellbeing and creates quality of life. We will also extend the path to finding one's rhythm to include creating spiritual practices to tend to the body, mind and soul.

In this episode #13, I continue to talk about finding one’s rhythm.  For me my rhythm is the mechanism that empowers my authenticity, my authentic self.  As I embrace who I am and continue to more deeply connect to my spirit, I find myself further along the path of expanding consciousness that allows me to truly know what gives my life meaning.  As a spiritual being having a human experience I know that connection to Source or God and the angels as well as other spirit guides of high vibrational consciousness and frequency is necessary.  To know that I am not alone on this journey of life is very important to me.  Therefore, in this episode I will discuss my experience with angels and guides beginning when I was very young throughout my life so far.  I will share how I noticed them and how they helped me.  In my sharing, I hope to help you, the listeners, to dare to remember your own experiences and to notice the movements of these spirit helpers in your own life.  I will also touch upon intuition and how this inner wisdom is always present to help inform us.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin once wrote "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience but rather we are spiritual beings having a human experience".    I love this quote because I believe it to be true.  We are more than human and we have so many opportunities to live life more deeply and completely when we realize our true essence.
The second part of my podcast title "Finding Your Rhythm" is an invitation to delve deeply into what gives our lives meaning and both our physical and spiritual essences are part of this experience.  In this podcast I share my journey and 6 ways that helped me find my way.
Thanks for listening.

I have been living a simple life for three and a half years.  After I decluttered my possessions and got rid of 95% of everything I owned and moved into my tiny cottage of 293 square feet, I realized that my practice of minimalism required me to maintain it.  Because minimalism is a process I go through these seven areas at least twice a year and sometimes four times a year.   Maintaining my practice of minimalism for me feels comfortable and enjoyable.  So, please join me as I share my journey...

Welcome to my podcast.  This is Marie Laverriere and my podcast is called Living A Simple Life & Finding Your Rhythm LLC.  I have a guess with me today and her name is Suzanne Rioux.  I have known Suzanne for a very long time.  We have similar backgrounds and today I thought Suzanne could share her experiences with us, as we discuss what it means to surrender to the flow of life.
This past summer I had an experience that allowed me to become acquainted with the idea of surrendering to the flow of life when I decided to let go of fear and just go...I experienced a powerful feeling of freedom that was totally exhilarating!  I share my story and Suzanne shares hers.

Minimalism— where does that word come from?  What does it mean?  I will also share how I came to practice this philosophy as well how I found my tiny cottage that I had imagined in my parent’s back yard when I was 10 years old.  I share that I decluttered my possessions (I gave up 95% of my possessions to be able to move into my tiny cottage) as well as my negative thoughts and my time/calendar.

In this podcast I share my definition of minimalism which includes decluttering space (our possessions), our time and our thoughts.  I also share two very helpful tools to utilize when starting to embark on this wonderful journey of living a simple life.  The first tool is making a list of everything we value in our lives, every person we value in our lives and every event we value in our lives.  This list helps us to have a roadmap as to what we need to keep and what we can get rid of.  The second tool is creating affirmations to help us deal with our negative thoughts.  Hope you enjoy it.  www.livingasimplelife.org

I found meaning in my life by exploring, finding and practicing my creative expressions.  Creative expressions are the different artistic/creative opportunities that are available to us on this planet.  There are many ways one can practice their artistic/creative skills.  When one finds her/his specific artistic expressions they usually experience a connection to meaning and purpose.  It's the essence of joy that moves our souls and makes our passion flow.  I have had a variety of artistic/creative expressions over the years from writing, doing calligraphy with added acrylic painting,  photography, cooking, creating a nurturing and peaceful environment, blending essential oils into custom blends that I create, making jewelry with semi precious stone beads, making greeting cards with my photographs, creating videos and podcasts and several other mediums.  Art in its many forms is a spiritual expression and everyone is an artist in each their own ways.  We just need to figure out our specific expressions.
