Travel Musings of my life as an Indian Research Scientist &Traveller in Europe for a period of 8 Years
Hearty Congrats Maharashtra CM Fadnavis & cabinet for making a momentous decision to have 24X7 work culture & allowing shops & establishments to be open for business 24 hours a day rather than 8 hourly work schedule that the nation was following since independence from british colonizers& dacoits in 1947 ! It is shocking & puzzling that the government & rulers including Modiji-BJP-NDA alliance was dragging their feet till now for totally unknown or unspecified reasons or for fear of nation-wide protest from trade unions & vested interests?As a research scientist who had scripted a travelogue book entitled, "New Yorkkil Oru Shastrajnan" ( A scientist in New York) detailing my life & Travel musings of my life in New York as a Visiting Professor at New York University Medical Centre for a brief period in 1991, I had taken pain to highlight that India struggling to fight poverty & to be an economic power house sooner or later must implement the following policies 1) Privatize all public enterprises excepting military & national security related enterprises to make them profitable and enable them to generate thousands & thousands of JObs 2) Have 24X7 work culture in the country as was the case in USA in 1991 to increase work productivity at least 3 times & to provide millions of more jobs for a country struggling with crippling unemployment, etc 3) Reform trade union laws & allow companies to hire & fire to achiever maximum efficienc productivity, etc ! Though written in Malayalam Language , very few, especially nehru dyansty that was ruling most of the states including Kerala & central government or bureaucrats in channels of power in the state or central government NEVER BOTHERED TO read my recommendations or did not think the suggestions from a medical scientist are not worth reading or caring or as worthwhile! End result, our nation has suffered badly due to myopic and amateurish & frankly incompetent policies of states & central government & it needed a Fadanavis BJP Government of Maharshtra to take the bull by the horms & show the initiative that wiser men did not find the recommendations there in the New York Travelogue worth the ink or paper used for producing the TravelogueBook! May be " one can take the horse to water, but cannot make it drink"! May I hasten to add that the recommendations of having 24X7 work culture etc are one of the hundreds of recommendations that I recorded in my travelogue book mentioned above! Again to quote Upnishat's Verses, " If a blind man trundling along is unable to find a pole for support on the way & cannot identify or locate the pole, it is not the fault of the pole" What a Shame!
Who are greatest enemies of Indians? It is millions&millions of highly educated indians who were pretending to be sleeping for the past 500 Years & NOT Raising a small finger when all indians were fooled, cheated & looted trillions& trillions of dollars of our wealth & doing genocide of millions of indians by using lies, strunts&dramas & tamfooleries peddled ad nauseum by paid bribed & sold out intellectuals & slaves & robots & peddling the lie that ONLY nonviolence can get independence for the country from the dacoits & looters though the latter was doing violence, genocide of all who were not singing the tunes of british dacoits & looters! Yes our historians too were just paid & sold out cheer leaders of the brtishers under the bribe of small biscuits thrown at them & spread the lie that indian civilization, culture & traditions were low grade & deserved to be dismantled block by block to install western life of just 2000 years though we have a history of more than 25000 Years & sadly the rulers who inherited the governance from brtish dacoits were just a B team of British dacoits& looters at least till May 2014, What a shame!
Sadly western media and loud speaker handlers & millions of western intellectuals have LOST NO time to degrade, defame & abuse sanatan dharma & practices & traditions & customs of the past 5000 Years and demmed them as archiac, unscientific & worthless & have tried to super impose western ideas, concepts & superiority ethos using all sorts of tricks & it will surely take ages or centuries to wipe out the ill effects of 24 hour goebbelian propaganda of past 500 years too! The recent scientific discovery by researchers of University of Calgary Canada of identifying a faint emission of feeble light from bodies of living things including humans immediately before death & not identified in dead bodies or life-less objects only proves the concept of the soul leaving the dead body & joining the cosmic all-encompassing energy of "brahman" that hindus & followers of sanatan dharma have been scrupulously following for past 5000 years & believing that dead body is like a cage from where the soul has flown away to join the cosmic energy!
My podcast has to be seen as a mirror to the world and meant to expose the himalayan mountain of lies, misinformations & fooling tricks that international mafias and vested interests have been indulging in for more than 500 years ever since humanity has been exposed to radio, newspapers, text books, television & audio-visual transmission of information from one person to the other ! I did mention how loud speakers & loud speaker handlers & mafias& power-brokers & vested interests &sold out historians & thousands & thousands of sold out pseudo-intellectuals& media influencers had made all indians believe that sun rises in the west & that earth is flat & how western invaders & dacoits & other invaders of hindustan or india of past 1000 years had peddled lies, fakeries & falsehoods as real truth and had cleverly made all attempts to spread the lie that it was western colonizers & other barbarian invaders of past 1000 years who had brought culture to a country that has an unbroken history of more than 20000 years & believed that all human beings are equal without concept of aliens or others & had prayed for welfare & happiness of all human beings of the world too! Further these western colonizers& dacoits & other barbarians who used guns, canons& mass murdering weapons invaded almost all continents using brute force and terror, invaded other countries or colonies without seeking an permission or visa to enter , made the people of colonies slaves & using lies & stunts & vicious propaganda & brute force & lethal weapons looted their wealth & did ethnic cleansing of people of colonies & became super rich dacoits & what is more invented a permit or visa or entry system to prevent people of looted colonies to enter the soil of dacoits & colonizers & looters & were shouting in same breath that nonviolence is a divine trait& that proponents or preachers of non-violence are saints or Gods & that colonizers were the most cultured, compassionate & kind human beings of the world & that farce has been going on for past 500-1000 years too! The octopus hold of the international mafias including mediamafias was so strong that despite being a French government merit scholarship holder & being a doctoral research student of prestigious University of Paris from 1975 onwards , I had to endure umbelievable stress & difficulties even to get an entry visa as invited speaker in international conferences to many countries of Europe including England that had looted more than 1000 trillion dollars from India during the 300 years of colonial dacoit rule ! The unbelievable power & clout of international mafias was strong even in developing countries like Philippines that even in the year 1995 when invited for a guest lecture at an I ternatiinal scientific conference in Manila I was on the brink of getting deported from Manila airport though a philippine ministry official had informed me by mal that Indians dont need visa to enter Philippines & despite pleading with an immigration official named Augustine, he told me that despite being an Invited Speaker at the International conference in Manila, he will not allow me to enter philippine soil! it was thanks to divine intervention that i was able to outlive that stressful situation of deportation then !
I was chocked to listen to my podcast "Eight Years in Paris" *anchor.fm/dockumar) some days back, in Chinese Langauge & in my voice tthough I dont know even one chinese word & when I asked my son who is an AI expert, he told me, dont worry dad, it is work of AI" , Since I feel that many more millions should listen to my podcast, I have not bothered to file a complaint with "spotify" that is carrying my podcast for more than 2 Years! Yes AI can shock you & fool you in ways more than your realm of imagination,, surely! Will AI control our movements & thoughts sooner than later is the trillion dollar question!

As an indian research scientisT, honoured to be an Invited Speaker at the International Perinatology Conference held at Hakone, Japan in 1999 & as a travel writer who was blessed to publish a traveogue book in Malayalalam way back in year 2000 entitled, "Japan the WonderLand" based on my travel musings in that great nation, I am feeling sad that despite having felt strongly in that travelgue book that India must forge stronegst possible bond with that wonderland,NO effort was done till May 2014 the day of ind from nehru dynasty mafia & Brtish B Team rulersTO realize that Dream! IF Netaji Bose& INA team had come to power in 1947 instead of Nehru Dynasty as the rulers with support from the wonderful Japanese friends, India would have become a super power at least 50 years back! It is worth recalling that it was valiant efforts of Netaji Bose& amazing INA warriors, that brtish colonialists & dacoits were compelled to leave our shores in 1947 & NOT due to the overhyped tamfoolery of nonviolence movement initiated by friends or slaves & colluders of Britishers serving as fake freedom fighters! I used to have an school friend, who used to accompany me to a high school about 5 kilometres aways from home & had no money even to pay for the 10 paisa bus fare plying through my village & my school friend was rather well built and much taller than my 4foot four inch height & 45 pounds body weight & he used to tell me that I might not even get to an age of 21 & could perish even then & when I said even fish can fly to heaven , he used to mock me & tell me that you are not even a fish! When I met this school friend about 50 years later & explained how I had a French government merit scholarship for doctoral studies in France & had been a professor in a reputed medical college & even as the first indian chairman ever & how I was author of more than 100 research publications in international journals & had been invited speaker in more than 10 international scientific conferences & was even visiting professor for a short period in the reputed New York University Medical Centre etc, etc my school friend who had retired as a clerk in a government department then , blushed & patted on my back & said, "you made me eat my words & i feel small too " & that was when I felt I had made it, My autobiographic musings ,"anchor.fm/dockumar" detailing my life& travel as a research scientist in more 30 countries over a period of 45 years is meant to prove that even fish can fly if they have the fire in the belly to do so! This artificial rocky island created by Nature from molten lava millions of years ago is worth all the hype that tourist operators brag about & a delight to watch it in full-moon days!
Except for the Notre Dame Cathedral, & Palais de Tau palace, there is nothing much to write about this town! The hospitality of Lanson Champagne Company though was delightful & unexpected!
As a release phenomenon after having the honour of getting my Doctorate Degree from University of Paris with distinction, I was on the hunt to locate a 2 day trip to outskirts of Paris and to explore the much hyped tourist spots of Mont Saint Micheal & Saint Malo & after a rapid tour of City of Reims on the way to the Mounts
I can shout with conviction that Paris is a heaven for travellers & adventures & excellent public transport netwrok can make the travel a walk in the park. However, travellers without knowledge of French Language can be a handicap since less than 10% of Parisiens prefer to use any other Language!
While exploring Montmartre District of Paris, I was left to wonder whether the name of a shady district for MontMartre was not creation of some vested religious interests that wanted to suppress freedom of expression and freedom of speech limited to only themselves and their cheer leaders and not to others!
Pompidou Centre or BeauBourg Centre of Chatelet is a must visit item for art enthusists and students and explorers to Paris & presence of good number of hypermarkets in the area is a bonus too
Yes Folks, if there was no advent of Internet and public at large had no loud speakers to speak out their mind or musings and thoughts, the mafias controlling the media of the world would have made the world believe that only their owners and cheer leaders & supporters are right and that all others are just fools & not worth listening to!
Visit of Notre Dame Church & Palais de la justice & city & st louis islands can take the visitor for a time travel of about 2000 Years!
Boulevard Saint Michael and surroundings have a charm and aura that can be highly infective and can inject a new energy to all explorers of truths & history in a way that is beyond words!
Promedade in latin quarter or "quartier latin" & visiting Pantheon the Monument for ALL Gods were unforgettable experiences indeed
Though Luxenbourg Palace is not accessible to general public, being the head-quarters of French Senate, surrounding areas like Latin Quarter is a must visit item for low budget travel freaks!
Thankfully Public Transport system of Paris is so well planned that any visitor can access the main sites of Tourist Interest with relative ease & without too much money expenditure too
I was really impressed to see the meticulous urban planning and vision of French Rulers of past 500 years & felt how indians had the misfortune of being slaves of Mogul& British invaders for nearly 500 years and wrecked them forever too!
I had not realized that two days of exploration of exhibits of Louvre Museum may be sufficient only to view 5% of the exhibits of this mammoth Museum Complex
Michael, the italan friend was so captivated by the Mahabharat Epic that I was compelled to spend many more minutes explaining excerpts from that great epic to my Italian friend in Egyptian section of Louvre Museum more than I had bargained for!
I was really impressed to see that my Italian friend Michael had so much liking & interest to hear more MahaBaharat Stories that he wanted me if possible to narrate many more stories from that epic if time permits!
Fearful that I might not have enough time to explore most of the important items of Egyptian section of the Louvre Museum, i , rather hesitantly obliged to the demands of the Italian friend to detail more of the Mahabharat Dice Game!
It was amazing that even museum pieces can tell hundreds of stories for the discerning on-lookers!
The egyptian section of the Louvre Museum can enthrall any history lover and art-over and make one wonder how rich, talented & cultured the Egyptians were more than 3500 years & more ago!
The visit to Egyptian section of the Louvre Museum was a real eye opener and the collections therein appeared to be worth the weight in gold!
Taking a help from my long term friend, Bhaskar Rao , Curator of Salar Jung Museum, I collected all the required background information on Louvre Museum History&List of must see items therein & set out for a 2 Day Discovery Mission!
I felt that I would have done a big mistake if I had gone to tour Tuleries Palace without taking the help of a professional guide and had chosen to save some pennies instead and made the trip like a goat taking a stroll in the market place instead!
As I was getting educated about Tuileries Garden&Tuileries palace , I realized why Professor Panigel had placed this place as one of the must see items of Paris Discovery Mission
Francois, my guide was not only a good story-teller but seemed to be an expert in his profession as a travel guide and offering his services for a cheap price too!
Francois, the bi-lingual tour guide was adept in his profession and his story telling was much to my liking too!
Thankfully I was able to use the affordable services of a French Guide named Francois who was adept in both French&English Language to explore the Tuilery Garden & seemed to have a good grasp of French History too
Mohallal, my Egyptian Friend proved during the journey to place de la Concorde that he was a student of Egyptian Hitsory too
The explorative discovery mission on place de la concorde or concord Square evoked memories of "Law of Karma" that humen beings, however mighty or great may have to endure in their life or lives!
Visit of Place de La Concorde or famous Concord Square of Paris was deeply emotional experience & felt that French Revolution was a learning experience for the world as a whole, to fight anti-people rulers and dictators all over the world too
Arc de Triomphe and surroundings are awesome and testimony of the Grand Vision of the previous rulers, notably Napoleon Bonaparte and certificate of his Farsight & Vision Too
Visit to Marine Museum in particular was a cathartic experience and made me feel how might & powerful have trampled the helpless & powerless millions for the past 2000 Years!
The Musee de L'Homme or Humanity Museum, Musee Guimet or Guimet Museum & Swan's island have added glamour to Eiffel Tower& Trocadero as a whole
Tour of Eiffel Tower & surroundings was a memorable experience indeed though I felt that there was a well planned and designed tourism industry revolving around this iconic tower!
Perusal of history of France & Paris is an educative experience for any explorer venturing to discover Paris & France
Though discovery of this wonderful metropolis was delayed by me to wait for accomplishment of the Prestigious Doctorate Degree from University of Paris VI, I was really awe-struck to get to know the City Delights and was having the mind of a glutton having the luxury of being able to taste an amazing array of tasty food items all of a sudden!
Mrs Challier was eloquent in detailing the various measures that her consumer protection association and movement was offering to the aggrieved consumers and providing a safety shield for public from potential deficiency of services in daily life.
While discussing about the active consumer movemet in France as explained by Madam Challier, I felt why indians had not initiated such a strong consumer movement to prevent getting cheated and looted by unscrupulous traders and service providers
After hearing how majority educated voters selectively and religiously kick out bad or corrupt politicians in elections in France , I wished too that my country manages to have a fool-proof democracy and not a half cooked or farcial democracy sooner than later!
In addition to the copious wonderful lunch feast, I was lucky to get educated about the French Political environment prevailing then too
Items such as creamy cheesy bi-valve & paella & accompaniments of white wine, red wine etc prepared by Mrs Challier were simply awesome & out of the world & I felt that I was getting the treatment fit for a King!
It was a pleasant surprise to see that my research supervisor Dr Challier had taken special care to prepare a lunch taking care of my personal likes& dislikes!
I had never dreamed that I can have such a royal welcome to a French Family and to have a glimpse, albeit of short duration, of the life style of a high class or higher middle class way of life in Paris
While accompanying Dr Challier to his residence in his car, I was pleasantly shocked to witness how French Traffic Police are acting so swiftly and promptly to enforce the traffic laws
While travelling to the outskirts of Paris to enjoy the "French Lunch" in house of my thesis supervisor, Dr Challier I was dreaming of the wonderful food items that I will have chance to ingest for the first time as guest of a French family!
MY Joy knew no bounds when the 3 Invited Experts & Judges to evaluate the Quality of my Doctorate Thesis Judged my Research Thesis Work as First Grade with Honours in June 1979 and that was the culmination of my Dream of getting Honoured as a Scientist from one of the Topmost Institutions of the World too
The visit to a keralite family was in many ways an educational "sortie" and revealed many unknown facts of French Life not visible to the outside world!
Though the family of Mr Vijayaraghvan had all the material benefits of French Life , he appeared to be craving badly for Kerala or Indian style social life in this adopted land!
The welcome to the house of Mr Vijayraghavan, a Keralite Teacher whom I had the fortune of meeting at Indian Hostel or Maison de Linde was delightful and evoked intense nostalgia too
French market was flooded with newspapers and periodicals& Fashion Magazines& there appeared to have no dearth of periodicals specializing on sex related issues including homosexuality too
The conversation with Alain during the Lunch Sessions really helped me to have a glimpse of French way of Life that I had not imagined had existed!
I was startled & amused to hear from a French Co-worker that Work Environment of France has its share of "casteism " too though with a different label?
I was glad to see the wonderful employer-employee harmony while working as a Biologist at St Vincent de Paul Hospital and felt perhaps Indian workers & employers must imitate the French Model for having a smooth working environment and to take the country to greater heights too
The visit to Hyde Park and listening to fearless speeches in Speakers Corner or Free Speech Haven, without fear of rulers or police or vested interests was a memorable take away souvenir of London Visit indeed
London Tower history and history of Kohinoor Diamond were explained in detail by the personal guide & but for his services, visit of London Tower would have been incomplete too
Sight of middle portion of Tower Bridge pulling apart to allow passage of ships etc & the two halves rejoining seconds later to allow passage of cars etc on the bridge was spectacular!
After visiting the Wax Museum, I felt that I should not have dished our a huge entrance fee for this venture, But the visit of Science Museum was rewarding and compensated for the disappointment of was museum adventure!
The leisurely promenade covering Egyptian, Middle East & Asian sectons of Brtish Museum gave me a feeling of Educational Time Travel through various countries& continents
The section on British & European history in the Museum was an eye opener and educated me that religion indeed played a decisive role in england & perhaps europe as a whole for the past 2000 Years!
The vastness of British Museum Complex located in Bloomsbury area of London dazzled me and I silently applauded the efforts of the thousands of planners who had conceived such a centre for dissemination of knowledge including arts and culture and history too
I had never dreamt that I can have such a delightful south indian vegetarian feast in a London Restaurant on a banana leaf and had never imagined that an unheard of Indian in England can be so forthright and incisive in analyzing india's ills & hurdles of progress and suggesting solutions for the journey ahead to make India a poverty-free super power too
It was sheer luck that I was able to meet a second generation indian in an electronic shop London and his demeanour and hospitality were exemplary! But it was the conversation that we had in an indian eatery near Trafalgar Square that revealed how traumatic a life thousands and thousands of indian youth would have experienced in the land of colonizers for past 100 Years!
After relocating to a 3 star hotel near Trafalgar square, my mind was more focused on identifying the main items of tourist interest in a hurry and abundance of Indians among the pedestrians made me feel whether I was really roaming around in Colaba or Malabar Hill in Bombay Instead!
Though I was looking forward to visiting Big Ben, Westminster Palace and Westminster Abbey considered as show pieces of London Metropolis in high priority , I had not bargained for the unexpected mental baggage of pain and misery and looting suffered by millions and millions of indian slaves during the 300 years of british colonial rule at all
Though I had been looking forward to realizing my dream of having a tour of Big Ben, Westminster Palace & Westminster Abbey etc, I had not bargained for the emotional heavy baggage that the visit could entail on such a discovery mission!
While visiting Big Ben, Westminster Palace and Westminster Abbey , my mind was heavy with emotions and how as a nation of many millions we were not able to uncover the deep looting and wrecking agenda of british colonizers for nearly 300 years and why we were anesthetized to the core and not able to react or make a worthy liberating struggle or fight for nearly 200 years to evict the dacoits and wreckers from our soil for so long!
Having had the primary mission of delivering a Scientific Lecture & pleasing my boss Professor Panigel with a creditable job, i was really thrilled to kick-start the London Discovery Mission more like a school boy being led by the school teachers to see the First-Ever Black& white Television Broadcast !
Using my lecture and using appropriate slides, I was able to convince the Research Core Team of Professor Sandler's department of the novelty and relevance of the technique of human placental perfusion mimicking an artificial uterus in laboratory conditions and how this joint project can generate valuable research data for service of humanity as a whole!
Little did I realize that some britishers were harboring the thought that India was their colony and that indians are their slaves and robots and two more unpleasant incidents did indeed alert me up to some harsh wake-up calls on the ground!
London gave an impression of a poor man's metropolis compared to the posh or rich man's look of Paris Metropolis though both had the Colonizing Power Baggage as the Blot on their outward Polished Face!
It was prompt and powerful intervention by Professor Panigel that prevented the possibility of being sent back to Paris by British Border Patrol agents at Calais Port terminal & nearly dashed my dream of my much anticipated lecture at Queen Charlotte Hospital in London too
Professor Panigel revealed the intricacies of long standing friction between England and France and how international media and vested interests controlling media and loud-speakers can mislead millions and millions of world citizens to believe that a lie repeated hundred times can become truth of Fake History!
Professor Panigel proved himself to be an expert and even adventurous driver despite being in his late fifties and his wit and persistent queries relating to ills of India kept me on tenterhooks most of the time as a co-traveller too!
I had been dreaming for many years that I should check what traits englishmen may have that made millions and millions of indians felt mesmerized and subjugated for over 200 Years & surrendered meekly and allowed the loot of trillions& trillions of dollars of our wealth& sacrificing lives of millions without even semblance of a struggle or fight?
We concluded the visit to Amsterdam by paying a visit to Windmill village and returned from Amsterdam trip with the conviction that for saving humanity from extinction due to environmental pollution ill-effects, use of fossil fuels like petroleum products must be reduced to a minimum or stopped forever!
The invitation from two of our friends for a visit to so-called red light area Zeejik was turned down by 3 of our group members fearing unexpected mugging threat or other unpleasant events!
No visit to Amsterdam can be complete without visits to Royal Palace, Anne Frank House & Rembrandt Museum &they can be labelled as Major Tourist magnets!
Boat Ride in Amsterdam canals is a must do item for every visitor to this Metropolis, though the monotonous architectural style of the buildings lining the canals can be judged by some at least as Eye-Sore!
It was indeed painful to realize that the so-called beautiful city of Amsterdam and its people had to be victims of religious bigotry and had its share of being victims of egoes and lust for power of vested interests for hundreds of years!
Though I was feeling excited at the prospect of seeing a new country in Europe other than Paris & France, I had not bargained for the totally unexpected and un-welcoming attitude of border guards and immigration controls viewing indians as unwelcome guests!
The processing of visa papers for Indian students during the period between 1975 and 1983 were not without the share of the problems and vicissitudes since having label of a poor nation was like an albtaross round the neck for indians to travel to countries of their choice!
Summer months can be really rewarding for cash strapped foreign students and opens up job opportunities albeit for 3 months! However restrictions of entry visas and exit visas for foreign students from so-called poor countries was a harsh reminder that this world is for the rich and not for the poor!
Though I was able to be one of the Top Five performers in the DEA or Master Degree Examination of Reproductive Biology Scheme of Paris University, I was disappointed or dejected to learn that being a foreigner excluded me from the List of Scholarship Award of Paris University ! Equality has different meanings, Perhaps?
In the meet-ups we cried our heart out to address so many ills of Indian society and concluded that unless we had a really transparent and powerful democracy without loop-holes, the country could be wrecked by power-hungry selfish and loot-oriented and corrupt demagogues and vested interests
The meet -ups of indian students in the cite campus was really an occasion that most participants seemed to enjoy greatly though most of the participants were certain that such discussions or debates aimed to enlighten and educate and inform the millions of indian public will be just lines drawn on water
It did shock me tremendously that even an atheist Existentialist Guru shared some private thoughts that 99.99 % followers or fans will have difficulty to Digest!
It was once in a life time opportunity to have a one to one chat with a world famous personality and protagonist of "Existentialism" Theory ,Mr Jean Paul Sartre , in the premises of the French Student Hostel in Cite Campus and his confidential confessions really shocked me greatly too
The students and residents of Cite Campus at Cite Universitaire can consider themselves to be blessed since the authorities were visionary and far sighted and professional to take into account all the curricular and extra curricular needs of the residents and to provide necessary support facilities to enable the aspirants to realize their aims and dreams too
I am not sure whether there is any other student campus in the world other than Paris Cite Campus that offers such varied educational and cultural and personality development and sports facilities for students at such a bargain price!
Life in Cite Campus can be a boon for residents and there are umpteen avenues for entertainment, outdoor activities and extra curricular activities for all who aspire to achieve greater heights in life though one should be prepared to face critics and enemies stoically and logically when needed too
Little did I realize that there can be some bad apples in the heap of apples and that some indian students can act like crabs trying to bring down those who try to escape from the bucket ! Yes I learnt that success and fame can make some compatriots jealous even in a foreign land!
I am not sure whether there is any Student Campus in the world that offers such wonderful opportunities for students from all over the world to live a dream life with all amenities and facilities in an organized and academic environment.Hats off to the planners and management of such a wonderful facility for their vision and care and love for the student community as a whole
Though Paris is known for high valued fashion shops and highly priced restaurants and eateries, it is also a place where one can have a decent living with modest income too
It was fatherly affection and care of Professor Panigel and brotherly support of direct research supervisor Dr Jean Claude Challier that solved the road-blocks for kicking off the training in human placental perfusion or artificial human uterus idea floated by Professor Panigel and initiated me to a world of research of bound-less and exciting possibilities
I was delighted to see that the students of Paris University were blessed to have a wonderful study and research environment and the fact that those who excelled in their studies and research were duly honored and rewarded with incentives and scholarships was another bonus too!
Encounter at the Police Headquarters in Paris with the friend from Cameroon and the heart-wrenching scenes and struggles of perhaps millions all over the world exposed me to the truth that western world is not free from virus of racism and discrimination and disdain for the poor and helpless millions and all talk of humanity and compassion for the poor and helpless are perhaps just lip service and hogwash!?
Though I had expected that renewal of residence permit will be hassle-free, the behaviour of the personnel at the Prefecture and the un-welcoming or even aggressive ambience of prefecture was revolting and smacked of plain racism!
Except for the University Regulation of all certificates and testimonials of the applicant to be in French Language, the processing of my application as a Doctoral Research Student at University of Paris VI was without much head-aches!
The free ride in company of Professor Panigel through the dream land of Paris was an unforgettable experience that cannot be defined in words and the explanation as to why Professor chose an Indian student as his research disciple took my breath away If only there are such divine persons as professors in the world, there is no need for angels, perhaps?
It was with enormous glee that I accepted the offer of Professor Panigel to drop me in his car at the Cite Campus and had a rapid tour of some of the Vintage Points of Paris Metropolis in company of a distinguished Professor and Scientist too
It was a totally unexpected and frank and casual and informal interaction with members of Research Team of Professor Maurice Panigel at the University headquarters in Jussieu and this helped me in driving away all butterflies in my stomach and assured me that I should be able to do justice to the confidence and trust placed on me by by my mentor and Professor SK Lal of Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi too
It was a real surprise to meet a Legendary Scientist and Professor and to see his humility and Hospitality in welcoming a Foreign Research Student and making me feel totally at ease in a foreign land. I had never imagined that this encounter with such an eminent professor in Paris was opening the door for me to the challenging world of Biological and Medical Research and making me feel that I too can aim for the stars
The one thing that woke me up while making the First Trip to Jussieu, the University Head quarters of Paris VI and to the Laboratory of my Research Guide, Professor Marurice Panigel was the slogan "se taire dest d'etre complot" inscribed in Big Bold Letters in the form of a graffiti in Jussieu Campus! That slogan with an implied meaning " to be silent while watching a crime or injustice and doing nothing to fight that crime or injustice is to be colluder to the crime" summarises the Reason for Backwardness or Lack of Progress of 3rd & 4th World nations including India for past many decades !
The Cite Universitaire Student Campus in middle of Paris Metropolis appeared to be a heaven, at first for any student with all sorts of facilities at arm's length for a comfortable stay and for extra curricular activities. It was only later that I realized that Indian Student hostel had its own share of afflictions that Indian society back home seemed to be infected with!
It was this sleepy town Besanco, and Bouloe Campus and Language Centre that equipped me with the necesary expertise in French Language and made me feel confident that I can overcome the Language Barrier that once seemed insurmountable! I am deeply indebted to French Government authorities for providing me all the support for facing the vicissitudes of life in a foreign land with meticulous care too
French authorities deserve praise for providing all possible amenities to make life of Foreign students enjoyable and for academic pursuits and Besancon University Campus was beautifully planned to help students to prusue their dreams. The visit to Dijon the Gastronomic capital of France and to Dole the place of birth of Louis Pasteur the Legend were unforgettable experiences of my Besancon Student Life too
It was a indeed a great relief that student Organizations CROUS&CIES had planned short guided tours for residents of Bouloe Campus to familiarize them with French way of Life and French History and French Cuisine etc and the fares charged for such day trips or excursions were really modest. The short tour of Besancon town and surrounding areas also revealed the professionalism of French Urban Planners and the meticulous planning evident in lay out of roads, buildings as well as open spaces and parks was a delight to experience for any unbiased viewer or tourist or explorer too
University Campus at Besancon appeared to be a model university campus with facilities not only for academic pursuits but also for various types of sports and games and personality deveopment of student community too
I found it mentally tough to adapt to new student life in a foreign land and there were times when I thought whether I should fly back home, unable to adjust to the strange food, strange atmosphere all around and to say say bye bye for the dream of a Doctorate Degree from the reputed Paris University too! But analysis of plethora of repercussions back home if I fly back home dumping the plans of research compelled me to fight out all the vicissitudes that appeared insurmountable!
I was impressed by the top class learning facilities available for students at the Language Learning Centre and the Bouloe Student Campus at Besancon was one of the best equipped, organized and managed student campus that I was seeing for the first time in my Life. Though I must admit that Jipmer Hospital & Medical Student Campus at Pondicherry was top class by Indian standards, Bouloe Campus merited, in my eyes to be rated a notch or two higher than the Indian Campus that I was fortunate to experience!
Bouloe Student campus at Besancon appeared to be extremely well planned with an eye on all needs of the students and Trainees and with all sorts of facilities for recreation and personality development
The 6-7 hour train journey, from Paris to Besancon, thanks to generous support from the fellow passenger and intellectual Mark had eliminated the fear of boredom of travelling along in a foreign land , But did tax my frail 45 KG something body and I was craving to eat something and to have a peaceful sleep more than anthing else!
Thank God I was able to accomplish my wish of getting something to eat and to find a decent hotel in the vicinity of the railway station to my full satisfaction and it was the thought of passing out with flying colours in the Intensive Language course in a short period of 6 weeks that was the main concern that was bothering me when going to bed in a Besancon Hotel
I was really fortunate to have company of a really friendly and conversation -loving Frenchman for the Train Journey to Besancon and I felt that without his enjoyable company, the long journey would have been a real bore too!
While I was admiring and enjoying the wonderful facilities and comforts of the first ever train journey , it was a pleasant surprise to have the company of a French Intellectual who ventured to get introduced and to engage in an absorbing chat helping me to fight the Boredom of a long Train Travel of Many Hours!
As scheduled, I was to reach Besancon , the border town between France & Switzerland for the Intensive French Language Course, and looking forward to the First Ever Train Journey in France with excitement like a child on a picnic trip. The train journey was exhilarating to say the least!
Having got the taste of an entirely different and technologically superior life in Paris Metropolis for 2 days , I was eager and feeling nostalgic to have a taste of Indian way of life while making my way in the underground train journey to Cite Universitaire Campus and it was full of surprises too
The encounter with the automatic photo studio machine and automatic coin delivery machine were once in a life time experiences and the totally un-solicited and spontaneous offer of support from a Kenyan Student, Freddie another scholarrship holder like me at CIES headquarters have left a memory that will stay with me forever!
After the fantastic initiation of Paris Metro Travel and unbelievable visit to Eiffel Tower the previous night, it was time to get to business and to get initiated to life of a student and as a researcher and all events appeared to be planned to perfection like a well-oiled machine.

The French Government and scholarship handling authorities had kept their promise and the welcome of the scholarship holders as State Guests was delightfully professional! My journey in the new world had begun like the proverbial character "Ittiyaraanan" in the great Hindu Epic " Bhagawatham" too!
I was compelled to Bow Many Times to salute the Technological Vision & Genius of Wright Brothers while relishing the Magical Air Travel
