This is a gothic-esque folklore, myths, traditions, and legends podcast with one element of true-crime. Lou explores their identity, family identity, and community and sociocultural contexts of their own life while researching the tales of old and retellings over time. Scooby-Doo, like a lot of true-crime fiction, is formulaic and polices people. Learning and believing in what’s not “normal” is going back to tradition and origin, visiting different places and people, understanding fear, and inviting in unexpected openness to new ideas. Scooby and the gang taught us how, but we’ve forgotten that the mystery is never solved, only exposed piece by piece until we’ve gotten enough clues to bring down the man, system, and evils that are, in fact, real and placating our world. Follow Lou as they gather their facts, listen to their intuition, and explore mystery. It’s time for a new Mystery Inc. and Lou is here to bring down the haunted mansion and unveil the bad guys in style.
Today we’re talking about Brownies, Boggarts, and Poltergeists. The three have one thing in common: you’ll find them close by. Poltergeists are entirely recognizable by the popularity given to them by movies and other media. Brownies and boggarts, though? How does it relate? Simply put, they’re house spirits.
