If we’re honest, I don’t think many of us thought the Riders would beat the Bombers in Winnipeg.
But I don’t think we saw a 51-6 beatdown coming either. On Episode 44 of the Rider Nation Podcast, you can’t have it both ways when it comes to the Pete Robertson situation and fielding a solid squad that can win a tough game.
Also, how the Bombers were out to prove a point and how we got lucky on Super Saturday twice.
It was an emotional roller coaster of a game, but in the end, the Riders finally beat the Bombers for the first time since 2019. The final score was 32-30 in OT for the good guys.
On Episode 43 of the Rider Nation Podcast, Andrew Paterson from Winnipeg Sportstalk joins us to talk about the Labour Day Classic and what went right for the Riders and what went wrong for the Bombers.

Rod says the Riders do have some talent, but the QB airlift of Antonio Pipkin isn’t the answer and has never worked.

Riders Win!
It wasn't pretty, but we did the job by beating the Elks to open the season. In episode 31, we break down the good, the bad and the stupid regarding the game and the playcalling. Maz & Kelly have their weekly picks, including the Rider/Bombers game. Also, Kirch was in Nashville, Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers are still top-notch, and the Flames have another new coach.
Optimism in Rider Nation is riding high after going undefeated in the preseason. In this episode, we talk about Trevor Harris, roster moves and how the Riders may not be as bad as everyone thinks. We’ve also got our week one predictions, and the Stanley Cup final is a win-win for all the guys playing that are from western Canada.

Ballsy is back! On Episode 24 of the Rider Nation podcast voice of the Riders, Michael Ball, makes a return appearance and things go off the rails right from the start. For over an hour, we cover everything, including the sweet irony of the Bombers losing the Grey Cup and Ballsy getting blocked by Cody Fajardo. Also, who he thinks the Riders' new OC and QB will be with an insider text, and we break down who should not get invited back to training camp.
We do our Grey Cup preview on episode 23 of the Rider Nation Podcast. But first, we go back to 2009 in Calgary for the Rider Nation nightmare. Kirch thinks Maz is drinking too much of the Bo Levi Koolaid and Bryan Adams at the Saddledome was full of old people and worth the money.
On episode 22 of the Rider Nation Podcast, did the Rider firings go far enough? Kirch doesn't think so. The Bo Levi to Saskie talk is heating up, and our predictions for the CFL East & West Final. The Flames are horrible these days, Vegas is good, and you must watch White Lotus on HBO.
It’s finally over! The 2022 Rider season will go down as one of the weirdest years of football in recent memory. In episode 21, we look ahead as to what the team should do—CFL semi-final predictions and Halloween candy we hate.
Breaking News: The 2022 Riders aren't that good! They lose again, this time to the Stamps. So on Episode 20 of the podcast, where do we go from here? The Bo Levi to the Riders talk is heating up, questionable medical care in Moose Jaw, the Bombers signing Collaros for three more years sucks for us, and Kirch gets testy when I ask him about his curling team.
It feels like we're the broken record podcast another week and another Rider loss. The same lousy QB play, the awful O-Line, the fading defence and the guys tried hard but lost again message from the head coach. Things don't look good with two in a row against the Stamps. Also, on the show, the Motherland wants Bo, overpriced Rider store gear, Marilyn Monroe movie and being scared of Darryl Sutter.
The season started out with so much promise, and now it's become a nightmare as the Riders lose again. Episode 18 of the Rider Nation Podcast, and we're one of the worst teams in the CFL. Cody's not the guy; J.O. has gone MIA along with the Defence. Maz likes the Bo-Levi rumours to Sask; Lapo got canned again, the NFL treats players like meat, and we can't decide if the new Marilyn Monroe movie on Netflix is trash or a masterpiece.
Ridernation is not a fun place to be these days. After losing to Elks, the Riders are now 6 & 8, and the team looks in disarray. So in Episode 17, we dive into what's wrong; we ask the questions that Jeremy O'Day won't answer and talk about missing the playoffs altogether. Also, Kirch's animals disrupt the podcast; getting a new modem isn't easy; the Queen's funeral and carnies from the 80s smoking cigarettes were the best.
When you lose the Banjo Bowl by 34 points, it's not a lot of fun being a Rider fan. In episode 16 of The Rider Nation Podcast, how the Riders can't catch a break this season. The same old problems kept being the same old problems. Also, the NFL is back, American college football, the Queen, buying Halloween candy too early and telemarketers wanting to sell us duct cleaning.

The 'Hustler' Andrew Patterson, the host of Winnipeg Sports Talk, joins Maz & Kirch to talk about how the Bombers have turned into a CFL powerhouse. The Riders beat the Lions to move their record to 6-5, but no one feels all that good about it. Kirch thinks the Riders did well without six starters; he likes Craven/Country Thunder but hates camping almost as much as the Redblacks. It was redemption week for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they beat the Montreal Alouettes 41-20. Maz & Kelly talk about the tale of two halves, the big trade for Mario Alford, some free coaching advice for Mike Benevides, the drunken Avalanche and the Elvis movie gets a 5-star review.
