Every time we are about to take a big step, and we question ourselves if we are on the right track or making the right choice, where does that voice come from? Is it fear of failure? Is it self-doubt, our gut waving at us, trying to stop us from making a mistake, or is it just us getting in our way?

In this MVP episode, I'm joined by Sophie Weill to identify where this voice comes from, how to avoid falling into a plateau in our personal and professional growth, determine if we are making decisions out of fear or love, and identify self-doubt's red flags.

Together, we discuss the importance of recognizing the authority and autonomy over our life choices and the need to stop seeing failure as an end and understand it as part of every process. We also explore the concept of externalizing authority, building external and internal self-trust mechanisms, and developing the strength to be ready to face the risk and the consequences of our actions.

In This Episode:

  • Every time we ask a question, we are making an assumption
  • The baby and the cliff. Why do we tend to check with an external source if we are making the right choice
  • About what we choose every time we make a decision
  • How to detangle ourselves from the need for an external authority guiding us to the right path
  • Are we acting out of love and alignment, or fear and avoidance

In this MVP episode, we talk about the zone of genius with Sophie Weill, Founder of the PR Agency Nude Nation Relations and host of the Active Ingredient podcast.

Together, we unravel this fascinating topic. We delve into what is the zone of genius, why it is often related to the Japanese "Ikigai" concept, and what we can do to operate 100% of the time in it.

We discuss what it takes to hone the skills that belong to our zone of genius, why we feel miserable when we spend too much time out of it, and why, by doing this, we end up blocking others from accessing their own. We also differentiate zone of genius from zone of excellence, analyze the "know every moving part of your company" business model, and introduce the concept of enrolling as an upgrade of the word, delegating.

In This Episode:

  • What it means to operate in our zone of genius
  • Does our "original setup," or how we are hardwired, affect how we connect with our zone of genius
  • How do we block others from operating in their zone of genius when we decide to work out of ours
  • The importance of checking in with ourselves regularly
  • The differences between zone of genius and zone of excellence
  • When we feel effective and impactful yet not productive, how can we change that mentality

In this MVP episode, Ben and Clayton have a conversation about mindsets, experiences, egos, and uncertainty in life. A lot of us experience adversity and multiple challenges in our everyday life. It is up to us to be resilient and look forward to a brighter tomorrow. In this episode, Ben and Clayton focus on anti-fragility, its definition, and its various concepts.

In This Episode:

  • Defining Anti-Fragility
  • Engaging with uncertainty
  • Fragile Mentality
  • Ego & Metaphor
  • Success
  • Identity
  • Proximal Development - The anti-fragility mindset can be described as developing a new relationship with uncertainty—one where you welcome uncertainty into life. Where you’re in the unknown and then you venture into the unknown, it completely blows you into pure chaos and disintegration.

Ironically, acceptance is one of the most resisted concepts when it comes to wrapping our minds around it. It's an idea that is hard to grasp without confusing it with something else like tolerance, resignation, or agreement.

In this MVP episode, Clayton and I talk about one of the radical shifts we can make to change our world: radical acceptance. We delve into why it is so hard to connect with radical acceptance and embrace it in the present moment without feeling we are losing something.

Together, we uncover the several meanings we tend to attribute to acceptance that doesn't necessarily describe what it is and how it can serve us. We pay attention to the language we use to describe acceptance and get in touch with how those words land within ourselves and make us feel. We also go through some practical and philosophical ways to embrace acceptance in the present moment and learn how to be friends with the things we want to change in ourselves and the world around us.

In This Episode:

  • Some of the things acceptance is NOT
  • It's practice until it's not. What happens when we decide to embrace acceptance
  • About the language, we wrap around acceptance and how it makes us feel
  • For how long we can resist the river flow
  • What else do we resist when we try to fight reality
  • What is acceptance's essence
  • Practical and philosophical ways to embrace and connect with radical acceptance
  • How to be friends with the things we want to change

Although success and failure are antonyms, in practice, they are complementary. In any endeavor, failing is the most logical way to reach success. The truth is that accomplishing something we want badly has more to do with the will to succeed than how and how many times we fail at trying.

In this MVP episode, we discuss radical commitment, the only tool we need to go through, manage, and conquer anything we put our minds into. We analyze the power of radical commitment, go through the four steps to choosing it to be our opt-out to failure, and learn how to put failure in perspective and change our perceptions about it. In addition, we explore and understand why sometimes it is so hard to commit to something.

In This Episode:

  • What is radical commitment, and how can it serve us to reach our goals
  • What are the three main reasons why we have a hard time committing to something
  • Would you do something knowing you'd fail a thousand times before succeeding?
  • The importance of picturing a possible path for us
  • Burn the ships! Setting ourselves for success
  • The true meaning of committing. It's not about sticking to something

Most entrepreneurs, especially those who reach a certain level of success, sooner or later experience a sense of disbelief in their abilities and unworthiness of what they've accomplished; they feel like a fraud.

These feelings are best known as imposter syndrome. Although we are beings having human experiences, and it's completely normal to feel like this, there are ways to mitigate these sensations and slowly but surely, erase them from our system.

In this MVP episode, Ben explores why we experience imposter syndrome and why it's so common among successful people. The "curse of knowledge" and its role in creating the feeling of unworthiness, and practical ways to deal with it are also covered.

Our world is shaped by what we are looking for, let's not overlook the importance of celebrating our wins and appreciating our progress.

In This Episode:

  • If you are experiencing imposter syndrome, you are not alone
  • About the "curse of knowledge" and how it affects us
  • A couple of practical ways to deal with the "curse of knowledge"
  • What is a "personal badassery list," and how it can serve us
  • The myth about levels of mastery and incorporating new knowledge
  • The importance of looking at our wins and celebrating them

Approaching every aspect of life as a zero-sum game not only adds unnecessary pressure, but it chops off our creativity and forces us to operate from a scarcity mindset.

In this MVP episode, I'm joined by Clayton Olson to talk about the limitations of having a zero-sum game mindset, how it impacts our professional and personal lives, and how to avoid being trapped in it.

Our conversation revolves around how we are socially conditioned to operate from a zero-sum game mindset, the debilitating and daunting tendency of setting external mile markers, and the distinction between what we need and what we want. We also touch on how the zero-sum game mindset affects our sentimental, professional, and personal lives and what are the most effective motivators to reach our goals.

In addition, Clayton shares a powerful framework to transform external mile markers into internal ones by celebrating small victories and focusing on the path behind us.

In this episode, we cover:

  • What the zero-sum game mindset is and how it affects the way we approach our goals and challenges in life
  • How the zero-sum game mentality affects us in our relationships
  • How external mile markers hold us back
  • The competition looks utterly different when looked at it from outside the zero-sum game mindset
  • What can we do to avoid falling into the zero-sum game mentality trap
  • We are so busy trying to get there that we don't realize we already are there

Clayton and Ben are back with a MVP episode and this time they're talking about the importance of boundaries. Setting boundaries is key to having a meaningful life. They allow you to create space for the things that matter most to you. They protect your relationships. They save you time.

But it can be difficult to set boundaries with other people. We want to be liked, we don't want to rock the boat. We're afraid of what other people might think or say. So how do we find the balance between building solid relationships and protecting what’s important?

In this episode we discuss:

  • The consequences of ineffective boundaries
  • What boundaries are (and aren’t)
  • The root of effective boundaries
  • The beliefs that get in the way of boundaries
  • The two kinds of boundaries
  • The 3 properties of a core value

“People pleasing brings a ton of limitations and really gets in the way of us being able to create adult relationships where there's vulnerability, authenticity, transparency, and a resilience in the connection where both people can be seen and actually loved,” explains co-host Clayton Olson. If you have a tendency toward people pleasing, you are likely not being your authentic self and may even be struggling to find your tribe. Truthfully, it takes a lot of inner work to reverse the childhood conditioning that reinforces people pleasing behaviors, but it is worth it to build better relationships. In this MVP episode, co-host Clayton Olson and I talk about why people pleasing exists and how to stop people pleasing and start forming more authentic relationships.

When we are children, we rely on the relationship with our caregivers for everything. This means that we tend to learn pretty quickly that it works in our favor to try to please them. However, this type of relationship is very unbalanced and doesn’t work in adulthood. If we constantly try to please everyone, we can never show our true selves. And instead of attracting our tribe, we will attract the tribe that fits the false self that we created to please others. In order to stop people pleasing and start living authentically, we must figure out what our own principles are and stick to them.

People pleasing can be a really problematic tendency for many people because it is a survival technique we learn in childhood. Even though people pleasing may seem harmless, it tends to lead to resentment, poor boundaries, and inauthentic relationships.

Unworthiness is a layered and complex feeling; it can also be manifested in different ways, from overworking ourselves to exhaustion, imposter syndrome, or paralysis.

In this MVP episode, Clayton Olson helps me unravel unworthiness' tricky ways. We learn about the concept of worthiness, how it might be showing up in our lives, and what we can do to reverse unworthiness symptoms and effects.

Throughout our conversation, we analyze some of the typical responses to feeling unworthy, like overworking or procrastination, their origin, and what they are trying to protect us from. Clayton shares Richard Schwartz's fascinating view of humans as a constellation of parts. We take a deeper look at these parts separately, unravel their original intentions, and figure out why they might not be helping us move forward.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • About Clayton's look of worthiness (2:12)
  • Why we don't do the things, we are supposed to do. The feeling of guilt and obligation (3:45)
  • What are overworking, procrastination, and the imposter syndrome protecting us from (4:25)
  • The use of the word "should" and the oppressive approach to our tasks (9:31)
  • At what point in their lives does someone lose their worthiness, and why (19:27)

In this MVP (most valuable podcast) we cover the following... We've all heard "glass half full/empty" as an analogy for optimism and pessimism. But really think about it for a second. When you are looking at the glass as half-full, you have a genuinely different perspective on the world than when you are seeing it as half-empty.

There are lots of different ways that we can use language that accidentally limit our possibilities in the world. It might sound minor, but I can't stress the impact of this enough.

Empowering language is one of the master keys to creating the life you want. It can be the difference between feeling stuck and feeling motivated, between feeling victimized and feeling empowered.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The importance of language
  • A ‘bad’ place to get started
  • 'Should’ you even listen to this part?
  • 3 intrinsic motivators and how to counteract them
  • This could ‘make you’ a bit uncomfortable
  • You mean, like, the cult of positivity?

"You will only ever do anything in your whole life, ever, if you want to do it." says Ben Easter.

Ever been caught in the trap of feeling unmotivated, pushing through tasks with sheer willpower? Ben and Paige Easter understand the struggle. In this episode, they challenge some of our beliefs about motivation and the art of getting things done.

They explore motivation that stems from our genuine desires and interests. They question the heavy "should", "have to", and "need to" phrasing that often burdens our tasks, nudging listeners toward a more genuine approach: focusing on what genuinely excites us.

They encourage a routine self-check-in, emphasizing the need to prioritize well-being and align with our core desires. By doing so, they suggest, we can sculpt a life more attuned to our values, one that is inherently more fulfilling.

Key Takeaways:

  • Motivation is not something that can be forced or summoned through willpower. It is important to connect with our intrinsic motivations and desires.
  • The language of "should, have to, need to" is not useful and often creates resistance. Instead, focus on what you want and connect with your desires.
  • Prioritization is key when feeling overwhelmed with tasks. Identify your big rocks and align your actions with your values and goals.
  • Check in with the four physicals: sleep, nutrition, movement, and energetic cycles. Taking care of your physical well-being is essential for motivation and productivity.
  • Practice connecting your desires with your actions. Ask yourself if there are alternative ways to fulfill your desires that align better with your preferences and values.

Quotes:

  • "The thing that I hear so frequently is like having trouble finding motivation." (1:41 | Ben)
  • "I think motivation is a myth because we're all motivated to do things intrinsically." (2:31 | Ben)
  • "I think the error in thinking here is that it comes down to willpower…willpower is not as useful as people tend to think." (03:09 | Paige)
  • "People think the solution to this is better time management…if only I could figure out how to pack more into the day." (05:27 | Ben)
  • "You will only ever do anything in your whole life ever if you want to do it." (15:40 | Ben)
  • "Quit pretending that there's something else other than what you want." (19:54 | Ben)
  • "Connect with your desire…focus your energy on that and continue to connect with it." (22:56 | Ben)
  • "Can I think of any other way that I can get that experience without doing this thing that I don't want to do?" (23:19 | Ben)
  • "Check in with your motivation, your intrinsic motivation…think about what is driving you as a person." (28:12 | Ben)

"Networking is not just about connecting with others, it's about finding a values-aligned community where you can thrive and grow together." says Ben Easter.

In today's Shift to Freedom podcast episode, Ben and Paige Easter delve into the important topic of building community through networking. They tackle the pervasive sense of isolation that many entrepreneurs experience, especially common with founders and solopreneurs who suffer from the absence of a peer group in their businesses.

The duo navigates the complexities of forging connections in our modern, ever-changing society while spotlighting the growing opportunities offered through online relationships. They also explore how to conquer hurdles like social anxiety and the fear of being turned down, emphasizing the importance of aligning with individuals who resonate with your fundamental beliefs.

Ben and Paige share their own networking journeys and offer actionable advice, including leveraging meetups and tapping into networks that align with your passions. This episode will encourage you to take steps forward to build a broader base of support for your entrepreneurial journey.

Key Takeaways:

  • Building a network is important for overcoming the loneliness of owning a business and having peers to connect with.
  • In today's world, networking can extend beyond geographical boundaries thanks to the internet, allowing for connections with people who share your values.
  • Overcoming social anxiety is crucial for building a network, and it requires courage and a shift in mindset.
  • Networking can be approached as simply connecting with humans and getting to know them, rather than focusing solely on sales or client acquisition.
  • An ideal network is one that is values-aligned, where you can find support, collaboration, and mentorship from like-minded individuals.

Quotes:

  • "I think having a conversation about making it easier and more inevitable to build a network and a supportive group of peers and mentors and colleagues that you can talk to to help you feel more connected in the world is really useful." (01:37 | Ben)
  • "All things being equal, people choose to do business with their friends. And then all things being unequal, people still choose to do business with their friends." (14:43 | Ben)
  • "Finding places where people are congregating around some activity that you really enjoy is a great way to get yourself kicked off finding people in values alignment." (28:41 | Ben)

"Every toleration we hold onto is like a program running in the background, draining our energy and holding us back from living our freedom. It's time to reboot, clear the list, and become the version of ourselves that takes care of what's important. Zap those tolerations and watch as your mental space and self-image transform." - Ben Easter

Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed and burdened by the little things in life? Do you want to break free from the energy-draining monster known as tolerations? In this week’s episode, Ben and Paige Easter dive into the important topic of tolerations. They discuss how tolerations can drain our energy and hold us back from living our best lives. Drawing from an analogy of computer system maintenance, they emphasize the importance of identifying and addressing these tolerations to free up mental space and boost productivity. The hosts share practical strategies, such as creating a list of tolerations and prioritizing them based on values alignment and impact. They also highlight the transformative power of taking action on these tolerations, not only in terms of clearing our physical and mental space but also in shaping our self-image and identity.

Key Takeaways:

  • Tolerations are the things in our reality that we are unsatisfied with or that require our attention.
  • Tolerations can lead to feelings of overwhelm, burnout, and confusion, as well as negatively impact our self-esteem.
  • Writing down our tolerations and creating a list helps us identify and prioritize them.
  • Taking action to address tolerations not only frees up mental space but also reinforces our identity as someone who takes care of things.

Quotes:

  • "There's just this aspect of reality where you just like you decide that you're going to take care of the things that are important to you to take care of in your reality. And there's something so both kind of nervous and intimidating about that decision, and also at the same time, so liberating once you've made the decision, you're just like, yeah, you know what? I take care of the things that are in my reality that I'm going to take care of." (5:40 | Paige Easter)
  • "Sometimes just getting them out of your head, you can be like, oh, that's actually not that hard to do. I can just handle that. And you might feel inspired just writing the list down. You might notice that you get a little inspiration to go take care of some things because they're now present in your mind and aware. And as you write the list, you start to imagine yourself doing it." (25:03 | Paige Easter)
  • "Every once in a while, go grab something off that list. If you do one a week and pull one of your tolerations off a week, you'll feel amazing." (21:12 | Ben Easter)

"Love and fear are the driving forces in life. When we lean towards love, listen to our hearts, and take courageous leaps, we contribute to a better reality for everyone. It's about embracing courage and understanding, rather than succumbing to fear," says Paige Easter, Co-host of the Shift to Freedom podcast.

This week, Ben and Paige are digging into their impressions of the beloved Disney classic, Pocahontas! While Ben experiences the movie for the first time, Paige fondly recalls it as a cherished part of her childhood. The hosts explore the film's themes of love and fear, and the thought-provoking interplay of toxic masculinity versus healthy masculinity portrayed through the movie’s supporting characters. While Pocahontas may not boast metaphors like other Disney classics, the hosts celebrate the lessons and insights that Pocahontas imparts about having the courage to follow your heart in the face of adversity, taking the time to truly listen to those you disagree with in order to resolve differences, and generally following your heart’s call.

Key Takeaways:

  • Love and understanding possess the power to conquer fear and turmoil
  • Attentive listening bridges gaps and nurtures connections
  • Choosing the path less traveled, coupled with an adventurous spirit, can lead to genuine personal fulfillment

Quotes

  • "I think it is a risky path to ride the river that is less known and that is choppier, and that is less smooth. But ultimately, the willingness to embrace courage, and listen and understand things in your world will serve you in the long run and will amount to much more safety than just following the traditional path where you actually still don't know what is around the bend." (25:42 | Ben Easter)
  • "For me, it was all about love and fear and that when you are leaning towards and allowing yourself to want things and listen to your heart that you take courageous leaps in it contributes to a better reality for everybody who's in it - versus being afraid and fearful and ending up (where) people get hurt." (25:37 | Paige Easter)

Are you living within alignment with your core values? In today’s episode, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter are back to guide you on a purposeful journey toward freedom using core values as a compass. Whether you are brand new to the idea of core values or already have a list that you live by, reflecting on what matters most to you is a useful tool for growing and creating meaning within your life. If life’s purpose is the experience of your values, then you owe it to yourself to get really clear about what those values are and how you wish to see them expressed in your life. When you take the time to put words to these abstract concepts, it becomes easier to remember your values in the moment and make aligned decisions.

Tips for creating your compass:

  • Core values are intrinsic, abstract and universal.
  • We feel joy and purpose when we are living in alignment with our core values.
  • Values are shorthand. They are represented by words that will spark your memory of whole concepts and do not have to even make sense to other people. Write a list of your core values, whittling it down over time to the ones that are the most important to you.
  • Use your emotions to guide you on what your values are. Try describing your favorite person in the world and see what values you attribute to them.
  • Return to your values list again and again, because values will shift as you grow and change.

Use your newly written core values list as a guide to help you along your journey to freedom. If you are engaging in activities that do not reflect your values or hanging out with people who are out of alignment with the world you are trying to build, then it may be time to begin embracing change. Put boundaries in place to protect your values and start living your life to the fullest!

Quotes

  • “Joy is the experience of our core values.” (3:56 | Ben)
  • “When we're creating a list of core values, what we're doing is we're making a shorthand for what is our operating system so that we can more quickly run through our checklist instead of trying to hold all things equally important and then find ourselves in analysis paralysis and not able to create meaning.” (4:25 | Paige)
  • “I believe that your life's purpose is the experience of your values.” (5:00 | Ben)
  • “I think of our emotions as our engine lights. These are what come up to tell us, hey, something wants to be paid attention to… somewhere between three and 10 would probably be a good place to start.” (10:02 | Paige)
  • “Envy is a really good emotion to show us what we actually want in the world.” (14:10 | Paige)
  • “We're so close to our values that we might not even notice what is important to us, because it's so core to who we are.” (18:56 | Ben)
  • “Every time there's a fight between two people, there's a core values misalignment.” (25:00 | Ben)

It’s time to step into the unknown and unleash your inner badass! In today’s episode, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter are back to talk about confidence building through having the courage to take risky actions that are outside your comfort zone. So many people mistakenly think they need to wait until they feel confident to take certain actions, but that’s not the case! Confidence does not require you to overcome perfectionism. All it requires is the self-belief that whatever you wish to achieve is possible and that even if you do not succeed, you will still be okay in the end.

A few tips for confidence building and embracing your inner power:

  • Don’t wait until you feel confident to act. Taking courageous, risky actions creates confidence.
  • When someone gives you a compliment, accept it and say thank you! While you should not aim to rely on praise as your sole source of confidence, it can be useful for getting the wheel going and helping you to generate authentic self-worth.
  • Develop an inner story where you view yourself as the successful, confident person you aspire to be through the use of visualization.
  • Remember that you do not have to be perfect to be confident. We all know people who are very confident even when it may not seem totally deserved.
  • Start to cultivate confidence through writing and referencing your own personal badassery list where you give yourself credit for all of your capabilities and achievements

You have everything you need within yourself to be the confident badass you were always meant to be. Each time you step into the unknown and navigate it successfully, you will become more and more confident in your own abilities. So stop waiting around and start taking action!

Quotes

  • “If we're sitting around waiting to take action until we feel confidence, then we could be waiting for a really long time. Because it is the confidence that gives us action.” (4:18 | Ben)
  • “If other people in the world around me are giving me praise, then that's a moment for me to have something new brought to my awareness.” (10:06 | Paige)
  • “When you get a compliment, just say, thank you… That’s what a person who is confident says.” (13:08 | Ben)
  • “What I think can be a really great antidote to overcoming lack of confidence is to start spending time with pictures of you being successful. Start visualizing that.” (14:35 | Paige)
  • “I don't necessarily have to have success in sales, or whatever I'm up to in the world to believe that it is possible.” (17:44 | Paige)
  • “What confidence really is, is our pushing of the threshold of what part of the unknown we're willing to traipse out into.” (21:24 | Ben)
  • “If you want to cultivate confidence, take risky action.” (27:56 | Ben)

Open yourself up to a world of possibilities through the power of visualization! In today’s episode, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter are back to share clear steps for leveraging visualization to step into the life of your dreams. Through visualizing your future, you can learn to create your own reality, manifest success and ultimately unlock your full potential.

A few key tips for utilizing visualization to create your desired future:

  • Get really clear about your end goal before you even start visualizing anything
  • Walk yourself backwards from your goal and determine what steps it would actually take to get there
  • Figure out what your body would physically be doing during those steps and visualize yourself doing that in your mind
  • Charge up your visualization process by approaching the exercise from a place of gratitude rather than fear or worry

Everyone engages in visualization all the time, even if they do not realize they are doing it. Instead of allowing unresourceful visualizations to continue playing in the background, start engaging in visualization exercises consciously and telling yourself the story that you want for your future.

Quotes

  • “We're all running visualizations in our mind all the time.” (2:54 | Paige)
  • “When you sit and do the visualization, your skill actually improves in a comparable way to people who are doing the physical practice in the world.” (6:58 | Ben)
  • “The more you spend time in that visualization of your future, the more likely you are to notice when there are things that you might add to that future from your options in the present reality.” (12:49 | Ben)
  • “One of the three major reasons for procrastination is that we don't know how to do something. So this visualization step can actually break that how barrier down so that we can get ourselves taking action.” (16:03 | Ben)
  • “If we actually ask that question, do you believe that there is a series of actions that you could take, if only you knew what they were, and you were motivated to do them, and you took the actions, do you believe that there is some path that would get you there inevitably?” (19:29 | Ben)
  • “We use the word visualization. But actually, what we mean is whatever your mode of creating in the future is inside yourself because it doesn't have to be visual.” (20:58 | Ben)
  • “The more we practice it the more we're making those neural pathways, the more inevitable it will become for us to be able to take that action.” (32:12 | Ben)

Let go of fear and step into alignment with the wisdom of your Higher Self. In today’s episode, co-host Clayton Olson returns for a conversation with Ben Easter about recognizing the difference between intuitive choice making and ego. Learn how to tune out insecurity and tune into wisdom, love, and connection. Being in touch with your true intuition allows for conscious decision making where your actions are aligned with your purpose and core values.

A few tips to help guide your path to unveiling your Higher Self:

  • Liberation exists on the other side of ego. Let go of the ego’s need for control and transform your life with the freedom that comes from embracing uncertainty.
  • Remember that insecurity can often mask itself as intuition. Ask yourself, what about this emotion or thought is important to you. What would love, connection, and wisdom do in this situation?
  • If you are under-resourced, you may have a more difficult time accessing your intuition. Be sure to take care of yourself, get enough sleep, eat and hydrate before making any major decisions.
  • Consider which path will result in putting more of your own values into the world around you. If the decision is coming from your Higher Self, it will inherently be in alignment with your core values.

Freedom is waiting right on the other side of fear! Shift your mindset to recognize the difference between thoughts and feelings that are driven by insecurity and those that are truly coming from intuition.

Quotes

  • “Insecurity can pose as intuition.” (2:02-2:06 | Clayton)
  • “It's not like the intuition writes you an email, and it's signed - your intuition. It’s not that clear.” (7:34-7:41 | Ben)
  • “Oftentimes, my intuition over time will continue to say the same message to me.” (9:48-9:54 | Clayton)
  • “When I have excessive self referencing around a decision, it's often insecurity versus intuition.” (15:09-15:18 | Clayton)
  • “Orienting to my higher self can oftentimes be a process of removing what's in the way versus actually adding something.” (26:13-26:23 | Clayton)
  • “If I'm trying to control something, it's usually not my intuition. My intuition is usually going to have me continue to forge into the dark forest with a torch on an exploration versus trying to stay in the familiar.” (34:46-35:01 |Clayton)

Get ready for an episode that will empower you to prioritize what truly matters in your life! In today's conversation, co-host Clayton Olson joins forces with Ben Easter to delve into the transformative journey of building self-confidence and learning to trust yourself. Get ready to unlock the secrets to cultivating unwavering self-belief by taking inventory of your values and recognizing the countless times when the universe has had your back.

A few pointers that will revolutionize the way you approach trust and self-confidence:

  • Identify the instances when you betray your own trust. It's time to shift gears and start honoring your own values above the desires of others.
  • Break free from building boundaries driven by fear. Instead, create structures that genuinely serve you and align with your core beliefs.
  • Craft a powerful list that recounts all the times when life has come through for you and when you have achieved success.

Embrace a mindset shift that prioritizes your own desires over the expectations of others. By honoring the boundaries that truly support your growth and happiness, you'll reclaim your trust in yourself. Leave the people-pleasing tendencies in the past and step into a future where you live authentically for what matters most to you!

Quotes

  • “One of the ways that people can erode trust in themselves is by continually participating in boundary violations with themselves.” (1:45-1:53 | Clayton)
  • “If you find yourself in a pattern of people pleasing, that is a really quick road to not trusting yourself, because it is a continual boundary violation where you're honoring other people over a deeper desire inside of you.” (2:36-2:53 | Clayton)
  • “When we continually make decisions out of fear and let fear be the guiding catalyst to whatever it is that we're doing, that erodes self trust.” (4:02-4:13 | Clayton)
  • “Which decision brings more of what you love into the world?” (9:25-9:29 | Ben)
  • “The idea that you don't trust yourself is not just a thought, but it actually does generate a state of being that then informs your behaviors, and your emotions, and the way that you show up.” (12:23-12:36 | Clayton)
  • “You have a lifetime full of evidence that says you'll survive everything that ever comes your way.” (14:00-14:05 | Ben)

Despite being well-known for his God-like strength and perfect physique, the qualities that make Hercules heroic go beyond his physical appearance. In fact, when you pay close attention to the storyline, it is his determination, perseverance and positive self-beliefs that make him triumphant. His motivating core value of belonging fuels his journey, and although there are many opportunities for distraction along the way, he is kept on the right path thanks to Phil’s reluctant, but supportive mentorship.

A few key takeaways:

  • The true measure of a hero
  • The strength of standing up for your core values
  • The benefits of mentorship as seen through Phil’s influence on Hercules’s growth
  • Life is always hard- It’s all about choosing your hard and seeing it through

There is a lot that can be learned from Hercules and how it can apply to your personal journey. So let’s dive in and uncover ways to expand our own human potential!

Quotes

  • “Heroes are there to remind us of our own human potential and our own path to whatever immortality means and represents for us.” (7:32-7:42 | Ben)
  • “Just because you haven't seen the outward signs of success yet does not mean that you are not on the path to achieving that success.” (11:14-11:22 | Ben)
  • “As witnesses of somebody in their experience of growth, we don't always get access to the behind the scenes of how many failed attempts were made before a person starts to achieve.” (11:24-11:36 | Paige)
  • “For Hercules to be immortalized as a hero, he has to be remembered for something that people find value in.” (15:01-15:08 | Paige)
  • “Deciding to go the distance is believing in yourself.” (32:55-32:57 | Ben)

“Productivity is personal,” says time management and productivity coach, Chelsey Newmyer. In this episode with host Ben Easter, Chelsey encourages listeners to explore what productivity techniques actually align with their personal preferences. She outlines the importance of setting short-term and long-term goals, brain-dumping granular tasks to build a roadmap to bigger goals, and the duo answers mailbag questions from listeners.

Chelsea shares her favorite practical “hacks” for productivity and workflow optimization including using focus tools on your mobile device to eliminate distractions, instituting work rituals to activate your personal “work mode” and encourages listeners to implement CEO days so you have time to work “on” your business, rather than “in” your business. The goal of personal productivity work is to wake up knowing exactly what you have to do and that you're going to end your day feeling accomplished.

Quotes

  • “I define productivity as working on the right thing at the right time to help you reach your goal.” (5:16 - 5:20 | Chelsea)
  • "How do we …have a relationship with our productivity that is resourceful for ourselves so that …we are not grinding through our days, but that we feel like we feel resourceful and happy and productive?" (12:58 - 13:16 | Ben)
  • "Don't just do a routine or don't just follow a structure because you think everybody else is going to do it.” (15:14 - 15:20 | Chelsea)
  • "The best tools for productivity are the ones that work best for you. Stick with what you're comfortable with (e.g. paper and pen or digital tools)." (15:22 - 15:26 | Chelsea)

Quotes

  • “Very rarely are we ever being chased by saber toothed tigers nowadays, and yet, news cycles, stress cycles, all of that stuff can come and trick us into stepping into a sympathetic nervous system where we are really good at running away and saving our lives, but we're not so effective at creative brainstorming or solving problems or connecting with people.” (4:15-4:39 | Ben)
  • “It's really useful to be in the practice of noticing what's going on in your physiological state so that you can develop an awareness for when you're dysregulated and when you're not.” (16:59-17:11 | Paige)
  • “We can use the breath as a way to kind of connect with our insides, and then that can be one of the ways that we can really regulate our physiology.” (23:46-23:54 | Ben)
  • “I like to think of groundedness as taking a step out of mind, and coming into body, and noticing a sense of connection to the Earth.” (25:37-25:47 | Paige)
  • “Too much future focus can create anxiety and too much past focus can create depression. And so one of the exit strategies from either of those two states is to come into the present moment.” (26:27-26:39 | Paige)
  • “All of our physical power in the world comes from our connection to the Earth.” (27:19-27:22 | Ben)

Whether you are a man or a woman, everyone has energetic cycles happening internally that match up with the cycles of the outside world. When you really look at it, everything in our world is cyclical. Cyclical living is all about aligning your actions with the cycle that you are in at the moment and scheduling things based as much as possible on that desire for alignment.

Today, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter share productivity tips based on maximizing your energetic cycles and discuss how the menstrual cycle could actually be viewed as empowering women with a simple mindset shift.

Using the natural cycles within your body to your advantage is a key component of creating your freedom. Take a look around and see where this concept of cycles fits in with your life. What is the world doing and what is your body doing? How is your energy, your appetite, your drive to connect or sleep, etc.?

Don't miss out on this enlightening episode as Ben and Paige unravel the mysteries of cycles, empowering you to embrace your cyclical nature and thrive in all aspects of life.

Quotes

  • “Everything in our world is cyclical.” (3:11-3:13 | Paige)
  • “Man or woman, old or young, we're still having energetic cycles that are happening in our bodies.” (16:06-16:11 | Ben)
  • “It's not that you can't do anything at any time. It’s just that the cost of doing that thing goes up if it's out of alignment with the natural phase of our reality.” (21:41-21:53 | Ben)
  • “There actually is a very real physiological thing that happens when your body loses resources and you have to regenerate them afterwards in order to get yourself back to baseline.” (30:04-30:13 | Ben)
  • “I want to encourage everyone to notice where they are, where their energy is. Start taking account of what is happening around you.” (30:17-30:26 | Paige)

The Buddha said that attachment is the root of all suffering. When you get too wrapped up in #perfectionism and #peoplepleasing due to your attachment to a certain outcome or a desire to maintain a certain identity, you are setting yourself up for potential suffering. You cannot control every outcome. And by being so caught up thinking about the future, you may miss out on all the good things around you in the present. Today, co-hosts Ben Easter and Clayton Olson discuss #detachment and how to overcome your #fearoffailure to let go of the fantasy of control.

The truth is that you cannot know the future in advance, so there is no use being so attached to certain outcomes. Ben explains that if you think about life like a game, the whole purpose of a game is not necessarily to win but to learn how to win. The enjoyment comes from overcoming challenges and it would not be as fun if those challenges did not exist. Life is much the same way in that you will likely not feel as successful without having to first overcome challenges. Clayton shares that one of the main problems with getting hung up on certain outcomes is that it can cause tunnel vision and you may miss out on other opportunities as well as set yourself up for sadness when the outcome differs from your expectations.

By embracing non-attachment, you open yourself up to feeling more gratitude in the present. Even situations that do not go the way you had hoped can still end up working in ways that lead you to your goal. You may not be able to control every outcome for your future, but you can control how you react and how you choose to feel about the outcome you do reach.

Quotes

  • “The Buddha says all life is suffering because of that attachment, because we're attached to either the things that we want or the things that we don't want.” (6:34-6:43 | Ben)
  • “There's something really beautiful about having a challenge that is in your way to try to accomplish some goal. And I think thinking about life this way is really, really useful.” (10:11-10:21 | Ben)
  • “Where did you learn this distortion that you need to do all these things in order to experience peace?” (21:57-22:02 | Clayton)
  • “Begin to question the fantasy that you've created.” (34:42-34:45 | Clayton)

The #AIrevolution has been a major focus ever since the rise of Chat GPT. While some people are excited about #embracingthefuture, others are afraid of the #uncertainty that comes along with a rapidly #changingworld. Whether AI will lead to a beautiful utopia and ultimate freedom or a scary dystopian society like those in tv and movies is yet to be seen. Today, co-hosts Ben Easter and Clayton Olson discuss how to navigate the uncertainty of the AI Revolution.

AI offers an incredible opportunity to rethink how you choose to engage with your reality. While you could choose to hand over all of your agency to an AI and allow your adult consciousness to atrophy, you could instead use AI to further your own advancement. Take the time to really consider what you would be doing if you did not have all the responsibilities that come along with adult life. If you no longer had to work, or if money was no longer an issue, what would you choose to do with your time? Even if some avenues do end up taken over by AI, others will now be more open to you than before.

Ultimately, AI is here to stay and the technology will continue to improve at an incredible pace. It is up to you how you choose to engage with it and whether you choose to view it in a positive or negative light.

Quotes

  • “AI, in its essence, is power.” (7:57-7:59 | Clayton)
  • “One of the benefits of this technology is that in many ways it can free you to begin to really ask the question, ‘If I didn't have to do these things in my life, what is it that I really want to be doing?’.” (9:17-9:29 | Clayton)
  • “There's almost two ways that we can use AI. One way is to remove all obstacles and make everything easy. And the other way is to buttress, to build the structures around the challenge such that we stay consistently in that challenge.” (19:18-19:35 | Ben)
  • “The more powerful a tool gets, the more capacity that tool has for either great harm or great benefit in the world.” (23:26-23:34 | Ben)

Having your own business opens up many opportunities for freedom in your life. Whether that be freedom to make your own schedule, financial freedom, or the freedom to pursue your passions. When you’re first starting out with your business, or if you are considering scaling, there are ways to build #financialfreedom directly into your business model. Today, Natalie Cook, CEO of Copper8 Strategies, LLC, joins host Ben Easter to discuss how to simplify your business, how to scale, when to hire, and how to achieve financial freedom.

It is important to determine your contribution margin analysis and then work backwards from there. Once you know how much money you need to spend to make each dollar, then you can use those numbers to make hiring decisions. Knowing your bottom line along with your overall business goal allows you to build that in from the beginning. When making hiring decisions, you can use these numbers to see how each hire will impact your bottom line. Consider bringing on a 1099 contractor at first to ensure the perfect fit for the position.

If you are ready to start or scale your business, getting clear on the numbers will be a huge help to making smart decisions. When you know how much you need to make each month in order to cover your expenses and pay yourself market rate, then you can work backwards toward the ultimate goal of financial freedom.

Quotes

  • “You should think about a financial adviser whether it's a formal CFO or just somebody who understands finance when you start.” (4:47-4:53 | Natalie)
  • “Let's focus on the bottom line first. What is that supposed to look like? Profit.” (7:55-7:59 | Natalie)
  • “I'd rather grow a business slowly that's profitable, that's a little more conservative in its growth, versus getting on the cover of Forbes because I made all this fantastic growth, but I was miserable and really wasn't taking home as much pay.” (18:31-18:49 | Natalie)
  • “Every hire should impact revenue to some degree, either seen or unseen.” (23:07-23:13 | Natalie)

No matter what age you are, there are many lessons that can be learned from Disney’s Moana. From the #ancestorwisdom passed on from Moana’s grandmother, to Moana’s journey of #findingpurpose, and Maui’s struggle with #overcomingego, each character teaches the audience something different about life. Today, hosts Ben and Paige Easter talk about the life lessons they learned while watching Moana.

Moana spends the majority of the movie thinking that Maui is the hero. After all, he is a demigod and she is just a teenage girl. Unfortunately for Moana, Maui is less ready to actually do what it takes to be a hero as he is still caught up in his own ego. There are elements of #facingyourshadow when Maui encounters Tomatoa, a crab that is essentially a metaphor for pride. Maui is almost defeated by Tomatoa had it not been for Moana. Similarly, in the final battle, Maui is unable to defeat Te Ka, losing his most prized possession, his magic hook, in the attempt. In the end, it is Moana who chooses to step up and return the heart to Te Ka, quelling her rage and transforming her back into Te Fiti.

If Moana had listened to her father and not left the island, or if she had listened to Maui and given up, the world would have plunged into darkness. This is why it is so important to follow your own path and learn how to listen for that full body yes when figuring out what you are meant to do. When you can connect with your heart, that is how you can get beyond your ego and begin #accessing creativity.

Quotes

  • “For Maui, the thing that he's most afraid of is being insignificant, being unloved and unworthy. And so when he acts out of that and he takes the thing, he becomes no one's hero. And that's the thing that he's most afraid of.” (14:52-15:07 | Ben)
  • “So often, especially when we're dealing with building a business or something like that, there is the tendency to want to do it for status, for glory, to prove your worthiness to the world.” (16:43-16:55 | Ben)
  • “The job is not to discover what is the purpose for your life or whatever, but to listen to your full body and connect to your heart. And that is the way that we turn the destructive nature of the ego into the life giving nature of creation.” (21:00-21:16 | Ben)
  • “The message of Moana is, connect with your heart. And so, what grandmother is doing every time she's teaching Moana is she's listening to her and she's inviting her to listen to her own heart, rather than tell her what to do.” (24:25-24:37 | Ben)
  • “At the end it is Moana that realizes actually she doesn't need anybody, she's the hero.” (25:00-25:04 | Paige)

In order to achieve freedom and live your most authentic life, it is important to face your fears. Living a #fearless life can be daunting at first, but also incredibly rewarding. With the rise of AI technology and remote work, more entrepreneurs are shifting into a #digitalnomad lifestyle. Today, Diana Davis, business coach for creative entrepreneurs and host of the podcast Pollen, talks with host Ben Easter about how to live a fearless life, what it’s really like to be a nomadic #entrepreneur, and why establishing boundaries is so vital to preventing #overwhelm and #burnout.

Diana has always been in the creative industry, starting off as a photographer and graphic designer. She wanted to help other creatives to lead the lifestyles they wanted without having to struggle financially. Although nervous to take that first step, she gave herself permission to face her fears and do it anyway. She became a digital nomad, trusting herself to wing it and figure it out along the way. She explains that in order for creatives to share their gifts, they have to be willing to put themselves out there, be fearless, and follow their own unique path. She also talks about the tendency for creatives to be so excited to share their gifts that they overextend themselves. This is why boundaries are important to establish early on.

You don’t have to be stuck in the life you have created. You are allowed to write your path in pencil and change it later, even if that feels scary. Give yourself permission to go back to the sandbox and figure out your purpose by testing different options. You can accomplish anything when you are willing to be fearless.

Quotes

  • “I used to be a photographer and a graphic designer. And that led me to really leading other creatives to be fearless and really put their gifts out into the
  • “I think everything is just a reframe away from being positive.” (19:57-20:01 | Diana)

Developing #confidence and #clarity requires a lot of #innerwork and dedication. It’s easy to get caught up in your #ambition and constantly be looking ahead to the next project, especially as a high achiever. Learning to accept yourself, as is, in the moment is key for achieving greater freedom. Today Erin Falter, creator of WORKWORK, marketing director at Tydo, and founder at Pink Skies talks with host Ben Easter about what she has learned about developing confidence and clarity from her own coaching and personal development journey.

Erin is a busy, high-achieving entrepreneur, yet in spite of her accomplishments, she was still struggling with inner confidence and clarity. Often she was saying yes to requests that were outside of alignment with her values instead of being comfortable saying no. Instead of focusing fully on her current project, she was distracted by looking to the horizon, certain that her next project would be the one that finally made her feel happy and successful. Through her work with Ben, Erin learned how to take a step back and really listen to her inner self for guidance through practices like meditation and #journaling. She learned that she was still operating from a place of limiting beliefs that were no longer applicable. Realizing that those beliefs were no longer effective was a large part of being able to switch her mindset.

If you are struggling to develop confidence and clarity, take time to sort out your inner thoughts and overall mindset. Learn to make decisions from a place of true alignment with your inner values rather than out of urgency or scarcity.

Quotes

  • “Anything that's asking you for your time or your energy doesn't [mean]... that you have to give to it.” (12:12-12:19 | Erin)
  • “At some point you really do need to shift that mentality from yes to everything to no to everything and then having the discernment to say yes when it makes sense for you.” (14:21-14:30 | Erin)
  • “We're always on the leading edge of creation and our reality, so the horizon will always stay on the horizon. And there will always be a distance between."
  • “It's really important to take that time to look within and really question your thoughts, make sure you're thinking about things from the right perspective.” (23:51-23:56 | Erin)
  • “Journaling, I think, is such an incredible tool and power.” (28:41-28:46 | Erin)
  • “Sometimes people think you work through it and you're done. But it's not usually how it works as a human.” (32:03-32:09 | Erin)

The Enneagram is a tool that can help you build a life of #freedom and #authenticity. It differs from other personality typing systems like Myers Briggs and even astrology because the end goal is not the same. The goal of the Enneagram is to identify the strategy that you may have created for yourself as a child. When you identify this strategy, you can see where your #limitingbeliefs developed and no longer hold yourself back with outdated constraints.

Today, co-hosts Ben Easter, Paige Easter, and Clayton Olsen talk about how to free yourself from your trance through the use of the Enneagram.

There are many personality typing systems, but the Enneagram is a particularly useful one for #selfdevelopment because it aims to reveal your development trajectory. As a child, you develop armor to protect yourself in the world and this armor shows up as your personality. This armor served a purpose at the time, but now as an adult, it is helpful to peel it back to see your true essence underneath.

To get started, you can use one of the online Enneagram tests to determine your number from 1 to 9. Be aware that these tests get pretty deep and can reveal your hidden insecurities and vulnerabilities. As you learn more about the numbers, you will likely find that the description which triggers you the most emotionally is the category that you fall into.

Personality assessments can be useful tools, but rather than think of them as prescriptions for how you should behave, think of them more like descriptions for how you tend to be.

The Enneagram is different because it not only reveals the box that may be limiting you, but also shows you a pathway to freedom from that box. Learn more about the nine Enneagram types and what your type means for you, so that you can live a more authentic life.

Quotes

  • “The aim of the Enneagram is to distinguish the box that you might be in so that you can create freedom in your life and actually not be constrained by it any longer.” (3:59-4:10 | Clayton)
  • “The Enneagram is a way of talking about the different ways that we come up with to navigate reality such that we get to keep the body alive.” (25:13-25:22 | Ben)

Finding your center is the key to #emotionalfreedom. The simple truth is that even though there is a common belief within our society that being self-centered is negative, that does not change the fact that you are the center of your reality. Radical self-center allows for true #freedom because it gives you permission to accept that you are the most important person in your reality and to live a life of #alignment with your #corevalues. Today, hosts Ben and Paige Easter talk about the concept of radical self-center and the value of #authenticity for achieving freedom.

Martyrdom, or the idea that sacrificing yourself for others, is inherently good and is an incredibly pervasive concept going all the way back to the Bible. The fact is that this belief is beneficial to those in power because it can cause people to be more compliant. In truth, you are the judge of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in your own reality, and it is perfectly okay if your versions of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ do not match with what you believe society would think. Being self-centered is not synonymous with being selfish, regardless of what you may have been told. When you are living in alignment with your authentic self, you are more likely to find your tribe and contribute to the lives of others in ways that are unique to you.

When you are always sacrificing your own needs and desires for what you think other people would want, you are doing yourself a disservice. This behavior keeps you from finding your freedom and living a life of authenticity. Give yourself permission to accept that you are the center of your reality and make choices from a place of alignment based entirely on your own core values, not those of others.

Quotes

  • “Radical self-centeredness is one of the key shifts to living a life of freedom and authenticity.” (2:27-2:32 | Ben)
  • “What if you don't have to sacrifice your life for a greater good? What if you could just do things that were really wonderful and fulfilling for you, and then noticed the benefit that came to people around you when you were living a life of alignment?” (5:21-5:34 | Paige)
  • “Radical self center is giving yourself permission to be the most important person in your reality, and to understand that you actually are, whether you like it or not, the most important person in your reality.” (8:18-8:28 | Ben)
  • “What does freedom mean, if not authenticity, and really the ability to be yourself in any situation.” (10:35-10:42 | Ben)
  • “You are the arbiter of what is good or bad in your reality.” (14:29-14:32 | Ben)
  • “When people are talking about society and what society says, it’s almost always something that is keeping that person from having or doing something.” (17:11-17:21 | Paige)
  • “There are great and tremendous opportunities for us when we are being ourselves.” (33:08-33:13 | Paige)
  • “Commit to you being inherently valuable.” (34:13-34:16 | Paige)

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has really beautiful themes representing the ways masculinity and femininity balance one another out. By showing Gaston as essentially an archetype for the #toxicmasculine and then countering that with the Beast who seems outwardly very masculine, but has a soft, tender heart hidden within, it comments on the value of #balance between the masculine and feminine in everyone. Today, hosts Ben and Paige Easter talk about transforming the toxic masculine through the lens of Beauty and the Beast.

Mensmentalhealth has been a particularly large topic in the aftermath of the pandemic restrictions, and it is intriguing to see the way this movie serves as a #metaphor for #overcomingisolation. Where the Beast chooses to hide away in his castle and shut himself off from the world in shame, Belle chooses to be herself openly in spite of the villagers believing she is odd. Additional themes are the villagers' resistance to a #changingsociety shown by their attitude towards Belle’s inventor father countered with the Beast’s initial resistance to change which shifts due to the influence of the feminine through Belle. The overall message is that if you #openyourheart to the feminine, it will temper and transform the masculine.

Through the lens of Beauty and the Beast, you can see the benefits of masculinity and femininity balancing each other within each of us. Gaston does not have enough femininity within himself to temper his masculine traits, so he comes off as an example of ‘toxic masculinity’. Whereas, the Beast appears aggressive and controlling at first, but under Belle’s feminine influence that masculinity begins to soften and transform into a more balanced version.

Quotes

  • “I'm not a huge fan of the phrase ‘toxic masculinity’, but if there were anyone that it was ever going to apply to, it would be Gaston for sure.” (9:54-10:01 | Ben)
  • “What the rose represents is the masculine's ability to find the feminine and come into balance with the feminine.” (12:20-12:27 | Ben)
  • “All of us have varying degrees of distribution of masculine and feminine within us.” (14:03-14:08 | Paige)
  • “The transformation of the masculine is how we get out of the objectification of other people and how we have a balanced relationship.” (26:46-26:55 | Ben)

The language you use everyday with yourself often reinforces limiting beliefs. By shifting to using #empoweringlanguage, you can enter your #zoneofgenius and unlock yourself from those #limitingbeliefs. Today host Ben Easter talks with Grace Clarke, founder of GGC Consulting, about how to unlock limiting beliefs, the benefits of investing in coaching as an entrepreneur, and how the language you use can change your mind.

When you shift away from the limiting belief that everything ‘should’ be done a certain way simply because it was done that way in the past, or that is how you’ve observed other entrepreneurs doing it, you gain the space and freedom to choose your own path to excellence. Build your own strategies and work the way you want to work rather than worrying about the ‘shoulds’. When you reinforce #limitingbeliefs in your mind, your brain will look for proof in the world to back up those beliefs. Shifting language away from viewing yourself negatively will help to create a more positive reality.

Limiting beliefs can hold you back from entering your #zoneofgenius and reaching your goals. Unlock yourself from limiting beliefs by using more #empoweringlanguage with yourself, taking space to think about what is actually true, and investing in coaching to help adjust your mindset.

Quotes

  • “We can completely define how we want our work to look and what we want our work product to be.” (10:21-10:26 | Grace)
  • “Language shifting has been really important because that is the way that we speak to ourselves all day, every day in our own heads.” (14:22-14:28 | Grace)
  • “Language does shape our reality, and if we reinforce certain things that create a positive mindset or a sense of possibility, our brains want to hang onto it.” (15:23-15:35 | Grace)
  • “Things that I considered as limitations or frustrations about myself are actually some of my strongest qualities and the most valuable for clients.” (17:21-17:30 | Grace)
  • “Being consistent and committing to not just showing up and being present in the session, but reinforcing what you're practicing in between, is the most value you can create for yourself.” (30:54-31:08 | Grace)

The flame of freedom is everywhere if only you know how to tap into it. When you shine your light brightly, you can spread that flame of freedom to other people who can in turn spread it to their own communities. Today co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter share how you can be the change by getting involved in Project Candlelight.

Project Candlelight is inspired by the candlelight service sometimes done at churches wherein everyone lights their candle from one initial flame. Instead of worrying about what you cannot control like systemic issues and policies, change your mind and the minds of others by embracing responsibility for only what you can control. Simply by being near another person’s light, you too can become ignited. This means that the more you are willing to show up in the world and shine your light of freedom, the more people you will inspire who can then go on to inspire others.

Freedom is contagious and once people see your light shining, they will desire it for themselves. To get involved in Project Candlelight, fill out the form linked below and submit your questions about the roadblocks that are stopping you from attaining freedom.

Quotes

  • “We can spread the light of freedom to each other just by being free around each other.” (2:10-2:17 | Ben)
  • “Our goal is to shine the light that we have as brightly as we can, and to let you, who is drawn to this podcast, listen, take anything that works for you and shine that light in your reality, because then I know that you're gonna go out and be a light in your community.” (4:36-4:51 | Ben)
  • “If you're willing to listen and understand the best way that you can, and then be that light and shine that light in the world, you'll inspire other people. You'll illuminate other people's lives.” (5:12-5:22 | Ben)
  • “It's really fun when we start demolishing those roadblocks and get out of our own way and release those limiting beliefs.” (9:15-9:23 | Paige)
  • “Freedom is contagious.” (9:44-9:45 | Ben)
  • “Share that form with other people that you love and care about and let them know that these questions are being answered and there's support on the way.” (14:49-14:58 | Paige)

Do you find yourself frequently comparing yourself to others? Comparison is a totally normal part of human existence. It can help people to have more ambition and propel them into entrepreneurship and leadership positions. However, it can also be a damaging tool if used incorrectly. Today, co-hosts Ben Easter and Clayton Olson discuss how to stop comparing yourself to others and start centering yourself in your life experiences.

Comparison exists because humans are social creatures, and we rely on others to survive in the world. However, it can easily get out of hand. Especially in today’s age of social media and unfettered access to what we perceive to be other people’s realities. In truth, you cannot know someone else’s inner experiences and all comparisons you make are actually a projection of your own beliefs. To stop comparison when it becomes toxic, focus on your own progress rather than being in some fantasy competition with others.

Everyone compares themselves to others. It can be a great tool for motivating yourself and temperature checking where you stand in a group. But when comparison starts to feel bad or get in the way of your progress, that is when it is important to re-evaluate and center yourself in the reality of your life.

Quotes

  • “Comparison is really a tool, and it can turn into a toxic tool if we’re not using it consciously.” (3:27-3:32 | Clayton)
  • “Being a human is a really fragile experience. We really rely on other humans to just survive in the world. And I think because of that, our brains have evolved to be very sensitive to our inclusion in a group.” (4:06-4:22 | Ben)
  • “We have access to so much more information, at least we think we can see so much more of what's going on in other people's realities, that we can start to compare ourselves in maybe unrealistic or unflattering ways.” (5:49-6:00 | Ben)
  • “When we're comparing ourselves to somebody else's highlight reel, we're seeing only their highlights. But we're seeing our lowlights and our highlights. So of course we're going to find ourselves lacking in some way.” (12:10-12:18 | Ben)
  • “Be in acceptance of the fact that you are the most important person in your world always and in every situation.” (17:13-17:20 | Ben)
  • “The more that someone can actually be present to the progress they're making in their own life, the less they're gonna be comparing themselves to others.” (28:33-28:40 | Clayton)

Are you the kind of person who is always apologizing for every little thing, even just for taking up space? The truth is that apologizing is typically not the most effective way to communicate with others and can actually cause you to be out of alignment with your own values. Today, co-hosts Ben and Paige talk about the concept of forgiveness, how to properly apologize when it is warranted, and how to stop apologizing when it is not necessary.

Every interaction you have with another person teaches them something about who you are. By always apologizing for things like simply taking up space, you are teaching people that you are a burden to be around. Most apologies are not genuine or made with intention, but instead are about overcoming guilt or shame. Instead of being a person who feels guilty simply for being yourself, try to behave as a person who is comfortable taking up space in the world.

The most effective apology is the one you make to yourself. If you do something that you later realize was not in alignment with how you want to show up in the world, then go ahead and apologize! But that apology is for your benefit, not the benefit of others. Learn more about the trap of over apologizing, the importance of communicating with intentionality, and how to build your self-esteem so that you can stop apologizing for just being yourself.

Quotes

  • “You’re telling other people how to see you all the time, in every way that you’re showing up, in every interaction.” (15:45-15:49 | Ben)
  • “Behave as though you are the kind of person who belongs at the center of the room. Behave as though you are the kind of person who is comfortable having eyes on you. Behave as though you are the kind of person who takes up space in the world, that you have a right to take up space in the world.” (17:34-17:51 | Ben)
  • “If the tendency to apologize is part of your common vernacular, figure out what you can replace that with so that every time you say ‘sorry’ you can say something else instead.” (19:06-19:17 | Paige)
  • “A true apology is about realigning yourself with who you really are and coming to a new awareness about yourself, so that you show up in a different way in the world.” (25:55-26:06 | Ben)
  • “My rule of thumb is that all apologies are actually apologies to yourself.” (28:17-28:21 | Ben)

The trick to better relationships is better communication, and the trick to better communication skills is using values based communication. Today, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter explain the benefits of switching to a values based model of communication.

When you enter a conversation from a place of knowing your values and understanding your personal responsibility for getting those values met, you will have more meaningful communications. Instead of making demands of others, reword your conversations into requests. By giving people the chance to decline a request without risk of consequences, you are respecting their agency and enabling them to make choices that are in alignment with their own values.

If you want to strengthen your interpersonal relationships and feel like your values are being met, you can benefit tremendously from switching to a values based model of communication. Learn the four steps to values based communication and how to begin implementing them in your daily interactions.

Quotes

  • “If you just take nothing else from this podcast, and you start thinking of communication in terms of what do I want from this, what is important to me about this conversation, and what's important to that person about this conversation, your conversations are likely to go up in quality.” (8:35-8:49 | Ben)
  • “I think about from there what that does to the quality of the relationship and then how willing I am to engage with that person when the impact of spending time with them is having this feeling that I don't get to have my values met, because I have to do something a certain way.” (13:09-13:26 | Paige)
  • “If I can figure out a way to invite somebody to contribute to my reality in a way that will also contribute to their reality, that is a win-win.” (16:40-16:47 | Ben)
  • “Maybe you can welcome me into an alternate reality where I see things from your perspective, and then it's no longer a problem for me.” (23:12-23:18 | Paige)
  • “Am I believing right now that I'm okay if this person says no to this request? Because if not, then it's a demand.” (24:23-24:29 | Ben)

Hypnotherapy can be a great tool for transforming limiting beliefs. Today, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter dispel some of the common misconceptions around hypnotherapy, explain how hypnotherapy actually works, and talk about the benefits of hypnotherapy for personal transformation.

Rapid Transformational Therapy is a form of hypnotherapy designed to help solve a problem within one to three sessions. After your sessions, you will continue to experience transformation thanks to the 20 minute audio recording created while you are still in a subconscious state. By listening to this recording daily for 21 days, you can expect to see improvements in the areas you were working on in hypnotherapy. While hypnotherapy does drop you into a subconscious state similar to one attained through meditation, it cannot make you do anything that you wouldn’t normally be aligned with.

If you are struggling with making a change in your life, hypnotherapy can help. Often we are being held back by limiting beliefs that we don’t even realize are there. Through hypnotherapy, you can find the root cause of that belief and show your brain that it is running outdated software.

Quotes

  • “Being in a hypnotic state is not the same as surrendering your autonomy, you will only make the kinds of decisions that are already in alignment for you.” (2:41-2:52 | Paige)
  • “The last phase before coming out of a hypnotic state is to create the transformation, and this is a 15 to 20 minute recorded audio of all the things that the person wants to see transformed in their life.” (18:14-18:27 | Paige)
  • “Everybody wants the pill, the push button solution to things and what hypnosis can do, especially this process where you get the recording, and then you listen to the recording over and over again, what it can do is sort of give you the easy version of transformation.” (20:10-20:25 | Ben)

Affirmations are a very useful tool for becoming the person you want to be in life, but you may not have tried them simply because the concept sounds a little woo-woo at first. However, the impact of simple affirmations are very much based in neuroscience. Today, co-hosts Ben and Paige Easter talk about the scientific approach to affirmations and the way that they can benefit your personal development.

The way you talk to yourself matters, and oftentimes, it is easier for us to be negative towards ourselves. By practicing affirmations, you learn to replace those ingrained negative thoughts with something positive. In order to understand the world around you, your brain uses shortcuts called cognitive biases, which often cause us to believe things about ourselves and the world that are not true. When you create an affirmation, you are priming your reticular activating system to instead look for evidence that back up that positive affirmation thought. To create your affirmations, it helps to engage in visualization and think hard about that ideal version of yourself so that you can work backwards from there.

Affirmations are powerful tools for changing the way you think about yourself and show up in the world. They may seem very metaphysical and woo-woo, but they are actually rooted in science.

Quotes

  • “What we're really trying to do when we're creating an affirmation is we're priming our brain, we're priming that reticular activating system to look for evidence that the affirmation thought is true.” (8:08-8:20 | Ben)
  • “When we feel different, we show up differently. And we can increase our likelihood that we'll have the requisite internal resources to go out and act in a way that gets us the kind of results that we want in the world.” (13:54-14:06 | Paige)
  • “You'll know your affirmation is starting to really take root when you find yourself thinking the thought without intending to think it.” (15:33-15:39 | Ben)
  • “Saying nice things to yourself is better than not saying nice things to yourself. But if those affirmations aren't in perfect alignment with your vision for yourself and your future, they're going to be a little bit less impactful.” (18:59-19:10 | Ben)
  • “It might be super easy and be a really seamless transition to start thinking positive thoughts about yourself and taking on an affirmation practice. But if it isn't, just know that something in you is trying to keep you safe. Your brain is trying to save energy by doing things the way it's always done.” (33:09-33:23 | Paige)

Today, co-host Ben Easter talks with Clayton about why people pleasing exists and how to stop people pleasing and start forming more authentic relationships.

Quotes

  • “People pleasing brings a ton of limitations that we're creating and really gets in the way of us being able to create adult relationships where there's vulnerability, authenticity, transparency, and a resilience in the connection where both people can be seen and actually loved.” (12:07-12:23 | Clayton)
  • “At its essence, people pleasing is about love. It’s a desire for love. It’s a desire to feel worthy of love.” (12:27-12:34 | Ben)
  • “People that are not people pleasers typically have a set of principles that they operate from regardless of what the external world is doing.” (29:56-30:02 | Clayton)
  • “Your authentic self is the homing beacon that dog-whistles out the people that are your actual tribe.” (35:10-35:18 | Clayton)

“Get really curious about why we are the way that we are with respect and awareness. And then with a sense of embracing and honoring, ask where is it that we want to go? Who do we want to be? And if we had full agency to create that, what would that look like?”, asks co-host Clayton Olson. Today, co-host Paige Easter picks Clayton Olson’s brain on the steps to end the war within ourselves so that we can move forward in our lives and become the person we want to be. Taking examples from her own life and experiences with hypnotherapy, Paige asks Clayton to walk her through how he would coach someone in her position of wanting to be a more confident person. Clayton explains the model of logical levels, developed by Robert Dilts, to showcase the six levels of ways reality can be organized and uses it to illustrate where limiting beliefs come from.

Self improvement begins with taking responsibility for yourself and your life instead of continuing to blame external factors. Many of the beliefs holding you back are actually beliefs that were created during childhood. And when you realize these are outdated, then you can start to see your present situation differently. In order to make changes at the identity level, you need to fully embrace your vision for who you want to be and the life you want to have. If you are still in a victim mindset, you will not be ready to step into your journey of self improvement. Personal development requires you to look at those beliefs from your past through a lens of curiosity rather than judgment.

Stopping the war with yourself requires you to take agency for your present circumstances. Learn more about the model of logical levels, the ways childhood experiences can cause our past selves to get ‘stuck’, and how to use enhanced awareness and curiosity to propel your personal growth forward.

Quotes

  • “Having that sense of responsibility that I am the one that's creating this is a foundational platform from which to jump into the personal development work.” (4:48-4:57 | Paige)
  • “When someone is going into a place of self-judgment, one of the tools that I love to employ is to begin to help them see how whatever pattern they are creating in their life that is currently unwanted, is actually a protective mechanism, or a pattern that was useful at one time earlier in their life.” (9:10-9:40 | Clayton)
  • “We can absolutely at times create a change in our environment. Which creates new behaviors. Which actually will trickle all the way down to our identity if we do it enough times.” (20:25-20:34 | Clayton)

“There's so many people out there that have money mindset problems because they strongly believe that what they should be doing is giving away what they have for the sake of other people,” explains co-host Paige Easter. Also, the wife of host Ben Easter, Paige, returns for part two of the Money Mindset series. Today, they discuss changing your relationship with money to provide yourself with true financial freedom.

While analyzing the classic “Robin Hood” story, Paige and Ben find that it overemphasizes “need” as a higher value than creating. If we actually stole from the rich to give to the poor, then there would be less resources for those who create systems for societies to function. Instead, Paige and Ben encourage listeners to use their money to benefit themselves but also invest in the causes they care about. By taking care of ourselves, we can create the value to help the world.

Having a financial mindset shift can lead to great benefits. Learn more about value creation, the mistrust around sales tactics, and how investing can have positive outcomes.

Quotes

  • “The only way that we can give to the needy is if we have first figured out a way to survive.” (7:09-7:14 | Ben)
  • “There's so many people out there that have money mindset problems because they strongly believe that what they should be doing is giving away what they have for the sake of other people.” (10:42-10:52 | Paige)
  • “There's this really big incentive to sell in a way that is emphasizing the generation of income for a person, and not the generation of positive relationships.” (14:58-15:08 | Paige)
  • “By keeping yourself from providing a service and having the experience of fulfillment that you want in your reality, you are also keeping other people from getting the beautiful benefit of the work that you do in the world.” (24:32-24:44 | Paige)
  • “One of the things that I really love spending my money on our money is investing in, like learning and education. And there's such a, an amount of gratitude that comes from one that I have the resources, and two, that I can exchange them in three, that the person who created that content is available for me to consume. And when I'm putting my money into that, then I'm creating more space for other people in the world to be creating that kind of value that I can then go and consume, and have kind of a reason for going out and creating value for other people so that I can have access to all these really exciting things. And I love this as kind of a framework for how freedom can work in a really concrete way.” (25:39-26:25 | Paige)
  • “As we create abundance in the things that we really care about, we get more energy, more time, and more value to create those things in the world.” (28:28-28:37 | Ben)
  • “Asking people to invest in the service or product that you provide is actually in service to them. Because when you give it away for free, they don't value it as much. And then they might not actually extract the benefit of it.” (28:57-29:15 | Paige)

In this episode, we talked about the role of money in our lives and how our beliefs about money can impact our experience of it.

Money is a way to exchange value and it can be used to facilitate trust between people, even if they do not know each other. However, because of this abstraction of value, we can wind up telling a whole lot of stories about money that don’t contribute to its flow through our lives.

Our beliefs about money and value can influence the economy and shape our experiences with scarcity or abundance. Conflicting beliefs about money and values can lead to inaction, so recognizing and addressing these conflicts can allow us to take aligned action towards abundance.

If you want to create more abundance and value in your life, then check out part 1 of this 2 part discussion of money mindset.

In this episode we discuss:

8:42 - money was never bartering

10:15 - how money gets into circulation

12:01 - keeping money in flow: currency

13:20 - that time that toilet paper was money

16:32 - the solution to recession

20:00 - do you have these limiting beliefs about money?

29:50 - Exercise: discovering your beliefs about money

If you've ever wanted to become the best version of yourself, this episode could be especially helpful to you.

In it, Clayton and I discuss the practices we use to improve their mental health and well-being. These practices can help to reduce stress and increase feelings of calm and clarity, allowing you to approach your day with a sense of purpose and intention. Treat this episode like a buffet of ideas: Take what resonates and discard the rest in order to find what works best for you.

In this episode, Paige and I discuss the movie Frozen and how it explores the consequences of behaving out of fear, what it means to embrace our uniqueness, and becoming your own hero.

If you're like me, you love learning new things that can help you in your life. If you haven't caught last week's Shift to Freedom yet, we talked all about how to use empowering language to create the life you love. But there were just too many for one episode!

2:14 - the importance of language

3:40 - a ‘bad’ place to get started

9:27 - ‘should’ you even listen to this part?

11:37 - 3 intrinsic motivators and how to counteract them

In this episode, Clayton and I start off a bit philosophical so that we can lay out some foundational thinking patterns that can help to shape the world into a VERY useful place, no matter what your current circumstances.

How cool would it be to stumble onto a wizard in the woods and have him tell you he's been waiting to magically guide you on your path to greatness?

For our newest podcast episode, we watched the old Disney movie, The Sword and The Stone again (my first time as an adult) and I never realized how deep it is! It's a story of the tension between knowledge and wisdom, brains vs. brawn, and the importance of walking the path in front of you (even when it people are telling you it's not the right one).

At it's core, it's about facing risk and paradox to become the kind of person who can take leadership in your life.

In this episode, we’ll explore:

7:20 - brain v brawn

11:10 - walking your path even when it’s not the “right” one

14:20 - knowledge vs. wisdom 15:30 - developing comfort in paradox

What if the way that your life is right now, exactly the way it is, is the answer to a few key questions you've been asking yourself? Now, what if I told you that all you have to do in order to change your life is to ask yourself more useful questions?

In this episode, Clayton and I get into a flow about how questions work in our lives. How they shape our reality, and how we can use them to our benefit. We also share some of the questions that have helped us create amazing freedoms in our own lives.

Some of the key points are:

2:30 - What’s a powerful question?

4:20 - the care and maintenance of your RAS (reticular activating system)

8:54 - If your life is the answer, what are the questions?

12:20 - It’s definitely not lying to yourself

16:15 - THE MOST USEFUL QUESTION YOU CAN ASK YOURSELF

20:55 - There’s always more evidence

22:06 - You think that’s air you’re breathing right now?

26:25 - Less resourceful questions and what you can ask instead

31:32 - Ok, Ben. Now you’re yelling.

Ever met someone who likes playing the blame game? You know, the one. Where one person does something, and then the other one gets to tell them how they did it wrong and why it's their fault? Fun!

It can be a fairly destructive game, not just for the person being blamed, but the one doing the blaming, as well.

A challenge is that when we play the blame game, we give away our power. We make them a villain and ourselves the victim. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s that, for many people, when they feel like a victim, they feel powerless. It’s unresourceful.

In this week's episode, Sophie and I dive into the concept of blame: what it’s there for, what it costs us (you'll probably care), and what you can do about it if you catch yourself caught up by it.

2:32 - the ego’s protection game

4:06 - “look Blame, you’re doing your best”

5:58 - power and responsibility

10:31 - obstacles… at their real-est

11:52 - I mean, you could always start a revolution…

19:59 - who invited radical commitment to this episode?

38:04 - author’s note - a softening

Clayton and Ben are back with another episode and this time they're talking about the importance of boundaries.

  • 1:21 the consequences of ineffective boundaries
  • 7:23 what boundaries are (and aren’t)
  • 10:06 the root of effective boundaries
  • 14:30 the beliefs that get in the way of boundaries
  • 18:30 the two kinds of boundaries
  • 21:37 the 3 properties of a core value

In most early-stage businesses there comes a time when there is more to get done than any one person can accomplish. This is when most business owners start to look to grow their team. But if we're not careful we can wind up spending as much time on managing as we were on the work itself.

In this week's episode, we're dealing with some of the mindsets that come up when business owners are thinking about team-building. In our conversation, Sophie and I discuss the challenges of keeping work on track, finding vs training talent, and enrollment vs. delegation.

5:30 - enrollment without micromanagement

7:45 - The three “hats” of team

11:30 - different skills vs. different levels

14:00 - hiring talent vs. training talent - a continuum

This week is the turn of Lady and the Tramp to go through our critical lens. We take a moment to analyze this entertaining and full of interesting messages story. The first thing that pops up, literally, is the Disney disclaimer warning us about the existence of harmful stereotypes.

After a quick recap of the main plot, highlighting the most controversial and engaging parts of the story, we analyze the messaging involving the social and cultural clash depicted in the movie.

We observe the dichotomy proposed by the story between "having a collar," both the highest honor a man can give to a dog and a symbol of control, and the unfortunate destiny of being a stray dog, ownerless, and condemned to prison if captured by the dog pound.

We also explore the contrast between the safety of following the rules and making our own, how it can be translated to the battle between having a 9 to 5 job or starting a business, and how we tend to judge and desire what we lack in others.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • About Disney's responsible approach to stories written more than half a century ago (2:27)
  • A quick recap of Lady and the Tramp's plot (3:56)
  • About the feminine and masculine hero's journey (5:13)
  • The dichotomy between having a collar and being free (11:47)
  • An interesting take on how we tend to look down on what we can't have (13:11)
  • The clash between the safety of a regular job and becoming an entrepreneur (17:08)
  • Tramp being a natural salesperson (22:34)

We tackle this issue using several analogies to help us understand why we get paralyzed before making life choices and what analysis paralysis is trying to protect us from.

In addition, we explore several powerful resources to deal with analysis paralysis, like accepting there is no downside, the Good from the Bad game, picturing a clear goal, and more.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • About the self-worthiness issue that hides behind the doubt analysis paralysis brings up (4:15)
  • How to realize there are no wrong answers when it comes to deciding what experience we choose to have (7:19)
  • Sophie talks about the swing analogy and how it can help us determine what to do next (13:19)
  • What is the difference between taking A next step and The next step (16:16)
  • How to restart our system every time analysis paralysis hits (22:15)

Today, in our third episode analyzing the myths, the symbols, and the metaphors in Disney movies, we take a deeper look at the story of the wooden boy, Pinocchio. Paige joins me again to explore the novel written by the Italian journalist and writer Carlo Collodi, published entirely for the first time in 1883, right at the beginning of the second phase of the industrial revolution.

As usual, we compare the original version with the one recreated by Disney, where we can observe both the adaptations made to fit the modern world and the sticky metaphors that transcended time.

We explore the story's invitation to reflect on cultural clashes, the desirable attributes an individual should aspire to have to become a contributor to society's flow, and the tension between self-centeredness and community. We also navigate the subtle difference between selfishness and self-centeredness, the negative connotation society attributes to the latter, and the fascinating way fairy tales model and shape heroic attributes and characteristics.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • A quick recap of Pinocchio's journey (2:34)
  • About the historical context of the book and how society worked back then (5:09)
  • The tension between the individual and society. What one wants and what society expects us to want (10:41)
  • About Pinocchio's path to coming into awareness (17:56)
  • A closer look at the heroic ethics depicted in fairy tales (21:30)
  • Selfishness vs. self-centeredness (25:20)

Ironically, acceptance is one of the most resisted concepts when it comes to wrapping our minds around it. It's an idea that is hard to grasp without confusing it with something else like tolerance, resignation, or agreement.

Today, I'm joined by Clayton Olson to talk about one of the 7 radical shifts we can make to change our world: radical acceptance.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • Some of the things acceptance is NOT (2:41)
  • It's practice until it's not. What happens when we decide to embrace acceptance (3:53)
  • About the language, we wrap around acceptance and how it makes us feel (9:06)
  • For how long we can resist the river flow (12:36)
  • What else do we resist when we try to fight reality (15:12)
  • What is acceptance's essence (17:57)
  • Practical and philosophical ways to embrace and connect with radical acceptance (25:29)
  • How to be friends with the things we want to change (33:15)

Although success and failure are antonyms, in practice, they are complementary. In any endeavor, failing is the most logical way to reach success. The truth is that accomplishing something we want badly has more to do with the will to succeed than how and how many times we fail at trying.

In today's episode, we discuss radical commitment, the only tool we need to go through, manage, and conquer anything we put our minds into. We analyze the power of radical commitment, go through the four steps to choosing it to be our opt-out to failure, and learn how to put failure in perspective and change our perceptions about it. In addition, we explore and understand why sometimes it is so hard to commit to something.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • What is radical commitment, and how can it serve us to reach our goals (2:05)
  • What are the three main reasons why we have a hard time committing to something (3:09)
  • Would you do something knowing you'd fail a thousand times before succeeding? (5:51)
  • The importance of picturing a possible path for us (7:39)
  • Burn the ships! Setting ourselves for success (11:38)
  • The true meaning of committing. It's not about sticking to something (14:07)

Every time we are about to take a big step, and we question ourselves if we are on the right track or making the right choice, where does that voice come from? Is it fear of failure? Is it self-doubt, our gut waving at us, trying to stop us from making a mistake, or is it just us getting in our way?

In this episode, I'm joined by Sophie Weill to identify where this voice comes from, how to avoid falling into a plateau in our personal and professional growth, determine if we are making decisions out of fear or love, and identify self-doubt's red flags.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • Every time we ask a question, we are making an assumption (5:05)
  • The baby and the cliff. Why do we tend to check with an external source if we are making the right choice (6:57)
  • About what we choose every time we make a decision (16:17)
  • How to detangle ourselves from the need for an external authority guiding us to the right path (21:13)
  • Are we acting out of love and alignment, or fear and avoidance (24:39)

In this episode, Clayton Olson helps me unravel unworthiness' tricky ways.

In this episode, we delve into why we experience imposter syndrome and why it's so common among successful people. We talk about the "curse of knowledge" and its role in creating the feeling of unworthiness, and we go through some practical ways to deal with it.

We acknowledge that our world is shaped by what we are looking for, and we analyze the importance of celebrating our wins and appreciating our progress.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • If you are experiencing imposter syndrome, you are not alone (1:48)
  • About the "curse of knowledge" and how it affects us (3:11)

Joining me today to talk about the zone of genius is Sophie Weill, Founder of the PR Agency Nude Nation Relations and host of the Active Ingredient podcast.

We also differentiate zone of genius from zone of excellence, analyze the "know every moving part of your company" business model, and introduce the concept of enrolling as an upgrade of the word, delegating.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

Some of them went through slight modifications to land better in present times, but all maintained their core message.

Approaching every aspect of life as a zero-sum game not only adds unnecessary pressure, but it chops off our creativity and forces us to operate from a scarcity mindset.

Today, I'm joined by Clayton Olson to talk about the limitations of having a zero-sum game mindset, how it impacts our professional and personal lives, and how to avoid being trapped in it.

Clayton is an International Relationship Coach, Author, and Facilitator. He has over 15 years of experience optimizing human behavior and social dynamics, a Master's Certification in Transformational NLP (Marin-style), and is accredited by Coaching Training Alliance (CTA).

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • What the zero-sum game mindset is and how it affects the way we approach our goals and challenges in life (1:33)
  • How the zero-sum game mentality affects us in our relationships (3:23)

  • The competition looks utterly different when looked at it from outside the zero-sum game mindset (8:39)
  • What can we do to avoid falling into the zero-sum game mentality trap (16:17)
  • We are so busy trying to get there that we don't realize we already are there (21:41)
