Halaqa Haven: Recent Episodes

makewithMary

Halaqa can be defined as a gathering where people discuss topics related to Islam, spirituality and the Quran.

Haven can be defined as a safe place, sanctuary, refuge or retreat.

Therefore Halaqa Haven’s intention is to be a safe space where we can remember Allah, learn more about our religion and strengthen our relationship with the Quran.

*Please note I am not a scholar nor certified in Fiqh. I am simply a servant of God who wants to build a better relationship with her Lord and the Quran. Any mistakes are from my own while everything good is from Allah.

Surah An-Nisa, verse 82

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ ٢٤

Do they not then reflect on the Quran? Or are there locks upon their hearts?

Surah Muhammad, verse 24

Let’s reflect on the emotions that we learned about in the book. And how we can continue to work on purifying ourselves and our souls, even after ramadan leaves us.

Can you believe that we reflected on 26 emotions mentioned in this book, ranging from anger, to envy, to fear of poverty, to heedlessness, to love of the world, to ostentation, and to greed.

We learned about the signs and symptoms of each of these emotions, then we learned about the treatments for them and if there are any exceptions to them.

By learning about these negative emotions, we’re able to become more aware of them and if they manifest within us in order for us to treat them and purify our souls.

And just like that, Ramadan Series 2022 on Tazkiyah | Self-Purification comes to an end. I pray it's been a beneficial month and series for you all and inshaAllah I can come back stronger for Ramadan Series 2023, if Allah allows it.

Imam Ibn Qayyim actually suggested a few ways of developing true love for Allah, some of these are:

  1. Reflecting and studying the QUran
  2. Remembering allah constantly
  3. Striving to follow Allah’s commands
  4. Studying Allah’s names and attributes
  5. Reflecting on Allah’s favors and blessings
  6. Through supplication
  7. Engaging in acts of worship, both obligatory and voluntary
  8. Surrounding oneself with company that loves Allah
  9. Avoiding actions that cause a barrier between us and Allah
  10. Following the sunnah

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “If you ˹sincerely˺ love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

Imran 3:31
