Purple Chair Podcast: Recent Episodes

Michele Woodhouse

What if we lead with listening instead of speaking? What if we fought to learn and hear someone else’s stories as much as we crave to speak our own? Join Michele Woodhouse, owner and founder of Purple Door Aesthetics, as she brings humor, story telling, and down right honesty to you on demand. Each episode Michele hosts business owners, activists, authors, and more into the purple chair for authentic and vulnerable conversations that will have you from laughing stitches, to tears, to screaming from the rooftops, all in under 1 hour.

I was recently asked if all practices face the same challenges & what is the BIGGEST challenge. The practices and medical spas I have the honor to work with and those that I have worked with over my nearly 20 year career in aesthetics medicine face many of the same challenges.

The biggest challenge by far is STAFF!! It is about hiring the right staff and casting them into the right roles. Evaluating them & training them up to build your practice and business.

Aesthetic medicine is simply different. Making the transition from more traditional medicine to a cash pay business is really challenging for most healthcare providers. But if you want to be successful, you have to understand they are different & so is the staffing.

Your patients and clients interact with your staff MORE than they interact with you. Their experience is determined by the staff. Who is answering your phones? Responding to internet leads? Conducting your consultations? Delivering cosmetic surgery quotes to patients? Treating patients?

How do you know if you have the right staff? How do you assess if they are cast in the correct role? How do hire the right staff? How do you keep the best staff?

Invest in hiring the right people!! This is not the place to try to do it yourself or save a penny, because a bad hire will cost you more that a few pennies. They can cost you your reputation, a patient's first impression and the opportunity to have a patient for life!

Have you heard of these?
RepeatMD
CoolSculpting Elite
Radiesse+ for jawline

The Purple Door Aesthetic ladies are back in the office and today they are talking about 2 of their favorite services you may want to look into! Plus RepeatMD, a new platform on the market!

Bringing in a new technology or trying a new injectable, is a big deal for both the practice and the patient. We want to give you a plan on how to effectively launch and use them.

Radiesse - This is our FAVORITE new injectable for the 'mid face' think temple filler, and now jawline! Raise your hand (or eye brows) if the mask mandates have kept you focused on the forehead and forgetting about your jawline... not just us, right?? It's time to ditch the mask, and focus back on the jawline. "The closest we may ever get to finding the fountain of youth is discovering a syringe full of dermal filler." Say it again!!

“Radiesse is an injectable dermal filler used to treat certain areas of the face and hands,” Dr. Engelman explains. “This treatment works by stimulating the body’s natural collagen, filling in wrinkles, and aiding your skin in developing new collagen in the process. Its main purpose is to treat wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose, as well as various areas of fat loss in the face.”

Next, we KNOW you have heard of Coolsculpting. This is the go to service for those fat spots that just won't budge in the gym or with diet. Maybe you have an upcoming wedding, or that summer countdown has begun, the thing we want you to know is, Coolsculpting is a "quick fix" but even then requires a few sessions and a bit of time so this is your sign to book NOW!! Even Harvard put out a blog about this miracle movement.

This week, I am so happy to have someone who fits that description for me, sitting in the purple chair! Karen Albright is one of the smartest and most savvy business owners that I have had the pleasure of connecting with in the aesthetics space! We swapped out our Purple Chair for our Purple Loveseat as we welcome our first couple to the podcast! This week, Steve and Jaime Geffner join us to share the ins and outs of how to tackle video production at the intersection of the small business and virtual worlds.

“I think speaking on video is as terrifying as speaking in front of an audience…”

Okay, this is a quote of my own from this episode where I, a previous client of the video masterminds, share just how SCARED I was to establish my own video presence, as an entrepreneur. I am such a huge believer in the concept of client connection—it is the leading way to create a strong business foundation, which is why I value these two video experts so much.

“In a virtual world, the best way [to connect] is video…. It is the gold standard for the virtual world.”

In-person events are still mostly on hold, one-on-one meetings aren’t as accessible, and now more than ever, connecting in the virtual world is very much the “new normal.” This is why what Steve and Jaime are doing with Geffner Productions is beyond valuable.

In this episode, you will take away practical, tactical tips on how to utilize video; inspiration on how to pivot in business with grace; and a true inside look at what it is like to work with your spouse while stuck at home!

Thank you to the Geffners for joining me, and please stay in touch with them here:
