Anthropologist in training, Amber Patterson presents EthnoArchaeoPOD: Stories about Humans. These broadcasts are based on the research undertaken as a student of anthropology and archaeology.
EthnoArchaeoPOD acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which these podcasts were created: the Woiworung people of the Kulin Nation, and pays respect to Elders past and present.
Is creativity necessary for the survival of the human species? This is a slightly more creative approach to telling a story about seeing a piece of artwork and having a response to it.
Once an object is removed from its original place, a new narrative commences. And, inherently linked to the removal of objects from their intended places come the subsequent issues of ownership, custodianship and the often times nebulous area of cultural appropriation. Reflecting on past collecting or looting of artefacts, many states are now attempting to repatriate their cultural treasures through legal mechanisms or via political negotiations. Some case of repatriation are considered successful – and other cases like the Parthenon… well... not yet successful.
