Drag queen Timberlina is based in Newcastle Australia. With a glittery rainbow of a personality she is an amazing educator and advocate of the LGBTIQA+ community.

I chat with Tim Jackson - the man behind the mayhem - about his career as a First Nations drag queen who devotes his work to education for children despite controversy and his efforts to educate in regional NSW with rainbow story time, drag cabaret, trivia and bingo.

Crowned Miss Photogenic in this year’s Miss First Nation Supreme Queen 2023, Timberlina has is all: she's a marriage celebrant, MC, presenter, host and all-round entertainer.

Tim is still amazed by how far he’s come from after growing up in country NSW. Let's get into it!

Emma Tomlinson is an  Australian musician who lives with high functioning autism. She uses her music as a way to continue her advocacy and education about life on the spectrum.

We talk about her music and work in the community as an Autism Queensland ambassador. All music on this episode also explores autism, as I feel it’s an important conversation. All disabilities are not visible. Up to 90 per cent of the 4.4 million Australians living with disability are living with an invisible disability.

Thank you Emma for your time.

We also look into an effort to save Melbourne's iconic music venue The Tote. I wish them all the best and hope we can save this awesome venue that's helped form the path for many an Australian music.

"The thing about Madonna is you don't know what is her identity and what is her act....With someone like her, you never know what is an an image what is her guise she's constructing and then what is the real her."

This is music and film critic Peter Piatkowski and I chatting about Madonna. He said her enigmatic style is why he likes her so much.
We deep dive into the nineties in the US and her place, based on Peter's article Blond Contrition: Madonna's Musical Response to the 1990s Culture Warson the US music culture website Pop Matters.
The conservative right saw Madonna as a "source of debauchment and morality depravity".
We chat Erotica (1992), and then the nearly apologetic Bedtime Stories (1994).
Who is Madonna? It's not as if she's strategically mapping out all her apparent misnomers or rebirths over like a war hero in a movie. Or is she?

Danny Yau is the voice, creator, producer, and everything to do with the Just Ace 90s podcast.

The podcast was launched in late September, with the season closing out earlier this month.

Danny just wanted to put it out just because, and didn’t expect the popularity it has received.

100,000 plus downloads and being rated the number one Australian music podcast.

When we talked, it was like chatting to a mate while leaning on the Annandale Hotel bar listening to another brilliant band own the stage.

He chose a chance to appear on HERstory Podcast as his only interview in 2022, in support of indie podcasts.

This week I chat with the lovely and driven Jannah Beth
A lady surely not driven by how Spotify dictates songs are made.

She has a unique sound popping out underground whatever is called ‘alternate’ these days.

**Her sound is an eclectic mesh of hip hop, indie pop, soul and electronica.
As she sings, she’s in her own lane.

And proud!
And I love it!

Offbeat Collective is the studio slash second home she runs in Marrickville which is the creative palace for talented musicians, visual storytellers and artists with 50%  female/non-binary residents.

Jannah is truly an amazing musician.**

Going me for this week's episode is Hachiku frontwoman Anika Ostendorf.

Her indie pop is on another level. Her voice is so little and fragile , yet her lyrics give you something to think about.
She was super generous with her time as it stormed rain in Melbourne.
Hachiku's debut LP I'll Probably Be Asleep  came out in 2020. She hasn't had a chance to tour it in 2022. You have to feel for the arts industry during COVID.

I've also managed to squeeze in a newbie from Courtney Barnett, BROODS and Mallrat.

Georgie Alice is an 18-year-old chicka from Adelaide who's set for great things. Already achieving things dreams couldn't be made of, she's pumped and ready. Networking, working with artists who've been sculpting the Aussie scene for years.
She won Triple J Unearthed High in 2019 at just 16, with her song 'Circles'. While any attempt to rise to fame was put on hold, she used the time to mature in though during those formative years, organise global management, choose a record label as well as doing her HSC.
