Why do you think these floods happened?
Environment and Water Minister, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man saying that the public does not take weather forecasts and warnings seriously with many taking the warnings for granted as they thought floods only occur in the East Coast region of the peninsula. Who is to be blamed for the incident?

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said, Malaysia can start preparing its move into an endemic by end of October. The endemic stage of a disease is when a country achieves high vaccination coverage of its population. The dictionary definition of the word is "adjective that means natural to, native to, confined to, or widespread within a place or population of people." This is sort of the next natural progression when a virus doesn't go away, sort of like dengue. Scientists are still working on ways to eradicate the disease. When a disease reaches this stage, it's usually more controlled and we know how to prevent its spread. In the case of COVID-19, we will most probably resume "normal" lives where all economic sectors, schools and other places that have been closed will be open. However, the mandatory mask wearing as well as other precautions such as getting vaccinated, maintaining social distancing and good hygiene will still be in practice.
Think twice before getting naked or doing obscene acts online because a woman you met on social media asks you to do so, as blackmailers have netted more than RM200,000 from the 35 men who have done so since the start of this year. The modus operandi for all cases is similar, with the suspect befriending the victims via social media such as Facebook or Instagram. The suspect would then entice the men to get naked together online adding that the victims are all aged from 25 to 45 years old. Then the suspect will turn around and blackmail the victims to pay money to prevent these naked videos from being leaked on social media. If the victims do not pay them, the videos and photos are sent to their friends and family members besides being uploaded on social media. According to the Selangor police, A total of 220 cases of blackmail or extortion using nude photos have been reported from Jan 1 to June 30. Victims were extorted for between RM3,000 and RM50,000.
Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin today announced that schools are set to reopen from October 3 with 50 per cent capacity in classrooms. However, the decision to send their children to schools would still be in the hands of the parents. Students were allowed to attend school in other attire besides their uniform, as long as it was neat and appropriate, until the end of the year. Sept 12, A driver believed to be under the influence of drugs rammed his car into another vehicle, killing two people after he drove against the flow of traffic. Investigations showed that a pickup truck that was being driven by a 24-year-old man, was going against traffic before colliding into a car. The Mitsubishi Triton driven by the suspect against traffic flow was heading to Klang from Kuala Lumpur when it collided with the teenagers' Proton Wira which was going the opposite direction from Klang to Kuala Lumpur. Urine tests showed that the pickup-truck driver tested positive for marijuana.
World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD), celebrated annually on 10 September, is organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO). Every 40 seconds someone takes their life; that’s almost 800,000 people a year around the world. The event represents a global commitment to focus attention on suicide prevention. The theme of WSPD 2021, “Creating hope through action,” reflects the need for collective, action to address this urgent public health issue. Studies have shown that strong social and family support is protective against suicide. Preventing suicide has never been a solo act.
One of the world’s most wanted paedophiles — Alladin Lanim who operated out of Lundu, Sarawak was finally apprehended recently. Alladin had posted about his exploits on the dark web which detailed abuses inflicted on children between the ages of 2 and 16. With the recent arrest of paedophiles in Sarawak, lawmakers and civil societies have called for greater empowerment of law enforcement agencies tasked with overseeing sexual crimes. Bandar Kuching member of parliament Dr Kelvin Yii said the government should strengthen the federal police force's specialised Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division.
Every day about 10 to 20 people are brought in dead (BiD) and this is a frightening and worrying scenario. Most of them passed on in their homes while some collapsed at public places. These cases are generally patients who tested positive for the virus but were in Categories 1 and 2, who were either asymptomatic or displayed minor symptoms of cold and fever. According to a media report, 30% of the BiD cases were not aware of their symptoms and infection, and they had taken them for granted. They thought it was a minor cold or fever, and that they would recover.
Kelantan police recorded a drastic increase of 51 alleged rape cases in the first seven months of this year following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO). During the same period last year, 39 such cases were recorded. Police are more concerned with the rape cases as majority of them involved underage girls and students. Police have to classify the case as alleged rape because the victims were under-aged. Most of it allegedly took place either at the victims' or the suspect's homes because during this MCO period they could not go to a hotel, rent a homestay or go to beaches to commit the immoral activities. Majority of the victims were aged between 13 and 16 years old and the alleged rape cases.
A new study of breakthrough Covid-19 infections finds that vaccines not only reduce the risk of severe disease and hospitalization, but can lower the odds of having long-term Covid-19 symptoms too. It shows that in the minority of people who get Covid despite two jabs, the odds of developing symptoms lasting longer than four weeks are cut by 50%. Vaccination, compared with no vaccination, was associated with reduced odds of Covid-19 hospitalization or having more than five symptoms in the first week of illness following a first or second dose. The researchers found, and there were reduced odds of long-term symptoms lasting 28 days or more following a second vaccine dose. In terms of the burden of long Covid, it is good news that our research has found that having a double vaccination significantly reduces the risk of both catching the virus and, if you do, developing long-standing symptoms.
It has been over a year since the first movement control order (MCO) came into force which resulted in restricted public activities. At Klang Valley, Klang River shows signs of improvement with less waste collected, more wildlife sightings. Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd’s (LLSB) Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) project which is responsible for the rehabilitation and rejuvenation of the river has seen less waste being collected from the river since the first MCO. River was producing less smell and was cleaner now. Monthly average collection of waste has gone down from 1,500 metric tonnes (MT) in 2016 to about 900MT now. Is MCO all that bad as we all think?

Psychiatrists are seeing more cases of young patients who are hooked on gadgets such as smartphones, tablets and computers and manifesting signs of Internet gaming addiction (IGA) or Internet gaming disorder, and anxiety disorder comorbid major depressive disorder (MDD). China has since barred online gamers under the age of 18 from playing on weekdays and limited their play to just three hours most weekends.

Over the past few months, many new Covid-19 cases have been reported in workplaces in Malaysia, either in factories or in workers' accommodations. Government’s stand was clear in only allowing factories to reopen after 80% of their employees had been vaccinated. Factories should contribute to economic growth and not be the centre for the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak. How do you think the government should handle this?
Malaysia - Public hospitals across the country are facing a critical shortage of medications, including those needed to treat serious Covid-19 cases. Among drugs reportedly low on supply are multiple meds used for sedation and muscle relaxants, anticoagulant drug Clexane, pain medication Faentayl as well as other such as Pantoprazole, which is used to treat patients who developed intestinal bleeding due to usage of medicines used for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. The medicines involved are those widely used in intubation procedures at intensive care units (ICUs). The sources said the hospitals had to use alternative drugs to treat the patients and described the shortage as “abnormal”. Nationwide drug shortage is driven by a “sudden increase” in demand for Covid-19 treatment.
Social Experiment Gone Wrong !!
A married couple have been arrested over a purported “social experiment’ of entering a few shops without being full vaccinated. The arrest took place after the couple reportedly bragged about being able to dine at a restaurant without having to show their vaccination status. Screenshots of a social media post showed a woman telling her Facebook friends about how easy it was for her family to eat at a packed restaurant without being asked about their vaccination status. The issue had triggered many to call out the couple’s irresponsible behaviour for not only putting themselves and their children at risk but for totally undermining the nation’s efforts at putting an end to the Covid-19 crisis. The couple was being investigated for negligently spreading disease harmful to life, public mischief, and abusing internet services.
Malaysia has a rare-earth mine ! It is getting into some trouble as Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said , Pahang government has not issued any mining lease (ML) for lanthanide rare earth in Jelai, Lipis. The allegation that was viral on social media about the state government has approved a mining project for the purpose was untrue. There were procedures to be complied with before such a mining lease could be approved. Uncontrolled mining pollution has a literal ripple effect. Mine waste, heavy metals and acidic water often end up in streams and rivers.
The Johor government revealed that a total of 779 teachers in the state are reported to have declined and rejected the Covid-19 vaccine shots. State government will call up the teachers who rejected the vaccine individually. Teachers should be "setting an example to their students and protecting them, instead of placing students in danger.

In France, the COVID certificate is issued to people who have tested negative or who have been fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines recognized by the European Medicines Agency. Aug 13, police in France are investigating a series of Covid-19 vaccine certificate scams after several doctors reported having their health service accounts hacked. Under the new pass system, introduced progressively since mid-July, anyone wishing to enter a restaurant, theater, cinema, long-distance train or large shopping center must show proof of vaccination or a negative test.
These measures led also to the flourishing of a black market for fake health passes.
Kedah police are ramping up monitoring on individuals undergoing quarantine at home to prevent them from going to public areas which could cause the spread of Covid-19 in the state. A team had been set up to conduct monitoring and house-to-house inspections three times a day to ensure home quarantine compliance. Apart from that, the Ministry of Health will start using electronic trackers for those under home quarantine. Electronic trackers would be used to help the Health Ministry track individuals travelling from other countries, or close contacts, and individuals with temporary symptoms as they await COVID-19 test results
A batch of imported frozen fish being sold at Hong Kong wet market was found to be tainted with the novel coronavirus. Feb 2021, the World Health Organization made a surprising statement: The coronavirus could possibly be transmitted on frozen packages of food. Food scientist said the virus can persist and survive in conditions that are found in these cold and frozen environments. Nov 2020, An ongoing study by Singapore researchers found that Covid-19, can survive -- in sufficiently high amounts -- on frozen fish, chicken and pork for three weeks at refrigeration temperature.

Malaysian Shopping Malls Association (PPK) said its latest survey showed the majority of malls had only between 10 and 20 per cent of tenants still operating within their premises. As of December 2020, nearly 60 per cent of malls saw 10 per cent of tenants closing permanently but by December 2021. However, 66 per cent of malls are now expecting 10-30 per cent of their tenants to vacate. A recent survey of 94 shopping centres nationwide found that nearly two-thirds of them suffered a 60% to 90% drop in sales during the ongoing lockdown. Coupled with the inevitable decline in visitors and most outlets staying closed, this forced 80% of the mall operators surveyed to enforce pay cuts of 10% to 20%, as well as the withdrawal of annual bonuses and other benefits.
