VULNERABLE, HONEST STORIES TO INSPIRE YOU TO EMBRACE YOUR “MESS” & LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE.I’ll be honest. I didn’t always think that “speaking your truth” was empowering. For most of my life, I did what most people do (before they shift their beliefs). I let my ego dictate my decisions and how I showed up in the world. And, it wasn’t until I spoke my own vulnerable, honest truth that I was able to embrace my “messy” journey in life … and turn it into my message. This podcast was created to provide me with a platform to have REAL conversation with people that have influenced and inspired me on my journey. And, my hope is that it will provide you with an enlightened perspective to shift your own limiting beliefs to become the greatest version of yourself and live your best life. Be Grateful. Be Curious. Be Brave.

100 Episodes!  When I began this journey in August 2021 I knew that this day would come.  But, I had no idea all the “wins” and “losses” I would experience along the way.  It’s been over 18 months now and my life has flipped upside down.

In this episode, I spoke about “what’s alive and real” in my life right now as I navigate co-hosting a men’s retreat, finding love again with my wife, becoming a more conscious parent and facing (and reframing) conflict in my life.

My hope in recording this episode is that YOU find value in hearing the vulnerable, honest truth about my journey with the hope that it inspires you to trust your heart and follow your dreams!

In this episode I revisited the adapted version of the 12 Dimensions Of Life (now the 12 Pillars Of Wealth). As I am on a constant journey to “have it all” in life, I have surrendered to the one constant that is always present … change.

This episode was recorded on Dec 31, 2022 (after the kids went to bed early on New Years Eve) and spoke about my INTENTION heading into 2023. As well as “ranked” myself in each of the 12 Pillars Of Wealth.

In this episode, I’m joined by Yati Or. Yati is a Wim Hof Certified Instructor, Free Dive Coach and Surf Coach who lives in Pachamama, Costa Rica. I first met Yati at the Mycellium Pathways (Mushroom) experience at La Senda that he co-facilitated with his wife Ayama.

Immediately after the mushroom experience I found out Yati was leading a Wim Hof Fundamentals Workshop at the same location and I signed up right away. It was an amazing experience of education, breathwork, stretching and ice bath!

I sat down with Yati after this experience to talk to him in person (at La Senda) to discuss what brought him to this work and why he has committed his life to helping others experience the art of breath and ice therapy to support healing, self-acceptance and expansion of consciousness.

Episode Topic5:36 | The two times I’ve met Yati at the La Senda dome & labrinth
10:57 | Yati speaks about his moment of awakening (and his vision of a Yogi)
14:23 | Yati explains why “trusting” is not enough … you need to pay the price
16:14 | Yati talks about the importance of daily practice (and intention)
19:05 | How to find inner peace in the silence and calm
20:10 | Yati discusses his experience training directly with Wim Hof
25:52 | Yati runs Trevor through a round of the Wim Hof Method breathwork
35:10 | How can you connect with Yati?

Episode Quotes“In the journey, we are guided. You just need to listen to the signs. You’ll get the messages. If you listen, you get more instructions for your life” - Yati Or

“It’s not enough to simply trust and follow the path. You also need to put in the work” - Yati Or

“Presence taught me an important lesson — It doesn’t matter where I am, I'm always home.” - Trevor Turnbull

“Meeting with Wim Hof for the first time was like meeting an avatar. His vibration is in the 5th dimension. He’s still here, but his vibration is very intense.” - Wim Hof

In this episode I provided a full download of my experience at the Mycelium Pathways experience at La Senda Costa Rica with Ayama & Yati. This was the first time I had taken magic mushrooms (psilocybin) in over 24 years.

I will refer to a time before this experience and after it. To say that it was transformational would be a massive understatement. Not just because of the “trip” I experienced, but also the people I met and the incredible connection we all shared when everyone spoke about their personal experience at the end of the event.

Episode Topic2:13 | The story about my first experience with psilocybin in 1998
5:37 | Why I decided to do psilocybin again after 24 years
10:22 | The fear I have had about doing psilocybin
12:22 | My first impression when I arrived at La Senda at night
16:55 | My first impression of the ceremony dome
20:20 | My intention heading into the mushroom ceremony
22:50 | The awareness I gained around “judgment” (of myself and others)
28:35 | Meeting Yati and the friendship we’ve created
31:24 | The incredible connection I experienced in my mushroom journey Episode Quotes(None)

At the time, she was going through a transition in her business & life and was about to birth a new business that would become a key part of her purpose…helping women own and build profitable businesses that allow them more time, freedom and money working from home.

She shared the truth about her journey and the mistakes she made along the way. As well as how she now supports the women in her program to be an In-Demand Ad Strategist.

In this episode I’m joined by Zach Puchtel. Zach and I first met in 2013 when we attended a leadership experience together in Los Angeles. This was an incredible conversation with an incredible man. A man that was a self labeled “jock” who grew up in Minnesota and went to LA to pursue his creative / artistic dreams.

We dove deep into how Zach has evolved as a leader over the past 8 years and how he looked inward (and accessed his feminine side) to become the man he is today. Part of this journey has also been a complete surrender to flow.

Conversations like this matter (and ripple out into the world). I am grateful to have met Zach and even more grateful that our paths have crossed once again … as there is no double we will create a more beautiful world together.

In this episode I’m joined by Ryan Peters (again). This was a special episode as it was the first interview from the beach in Playa Grande, Costa Rica. I setup the RODE Wireless Go II microphones and recorded with surfboards and the waves in the background (after a great surf session).

You might remember Ryan from back in January 2022 when I interviewed him on the podcast. Back then we talked about his background and what led him to “live his best life in paradise” down in Costa Rica.

This interview was a follow up to dig deeper in why he chose Costa Rica. As well as how he’s supported me through all the challenges of picking up and moving our family to Tamarindo. We also discussed the incredible opportunities for forward thinking entrepreneurs that want to live this life…and contribute to the growth of the local economy and people in Costa Rica.

Episode Topic1:49 | How Ryan & Trevor met and the 3 year vision that led to this interview on the beach

In this episode I’m joined by Heather Hanson Wickman. She is the co-founder of Be Untethered and the author of The Evolved Executive. Her clients struggle with navigating change and uncertainty, making massive career transitions, and building highly engaged and top-performing teams.

In this conversation we discussed her “breakdown” 6 years ago that led her to quit her “dream job” to support high-achieving executives and entrepreneurs explore how plant medicines (like Ayahuasca, Psilocybin and San Pedro) can help them experience profound change, heal from the past, and provide clarity to the future.

This was a truly enlightening conversation on a topic that many people are now exploring (including myself). Heather’s willingness to own her truth and step into her purpose is truly paving a path for others to explore plant medicines as a way to unlock one’s true potential & purpose and then how to integrate this work with the guided support of “horse medicine”.

Episode Topic4:00 | How Trevor & Heather were connected by Charles Byrd
6:20 | Who is Heather Wickman? (in her words)
8:15 | Heather speaks about her first experience with ayahuasca
10:45 | Heather talks about the corporate crisis that had her quit her dream job
14:10 | What Heather learned about “letting go” after 15+ ayahuasca experiences
15:47 | How does Heather facilitate peak experiences for others with plant medicines?
17:45 | What types of people can benefit from this type of experience?
19:16 | Heather shares a story about her most profound ayahuasca experience
25:44 | Trevor shares about his excitement (and fear) around doing plant medicine
29:21 | The truth about our ego and how to integrate it to live your truth
31:32 | What do you do when your “truth” is presented to you (and you are scared)
34:25 | How do you integrate back into your “life” after a plant medicine ceremony
37:24 | Trevor explains what is most intriguing about exploring plant medicine himself

In this episode I spoke about the 12 Dimensions Of Life (again). These are foundational pieces to what I believe that I get to embody (and constantly level up) to truly live a fulfilling life. It was something I created back in Nov 2021 (as I was going through my own personal reflection on “what does it mean to have it all…and is it possible for me to attain it?”)

What I shared in this episode was not only the “what” behind the 12 Dimensions Of Life (and how I’ve adjusted a few of them over the past 3 months)…but also where I’m currently grading myself on my own personal journey to actualize my full potential.

I kept it real in this recording. I told the truth. Which is not to say that I’m crushing it in all areas of my life. But, what we measure…improves. And, I hope that you find inspiration in what I’ve created and who I’m committed to becoming….every single day.

Episode Topic1:00 | Do I need to “have it all” at your expense?
1:40 | The path that led me to create the 12 Dimensions Of Life

In this episode I’m joined by Gene Bernier. We connected on LinkedIn about a year ago and met in person (in the river) on the Cold Plunge Truth! I remembered thinking that this guy has some wisdom to share and an authenticity to him that makes him a humble, impactful coach to leaders.

Gene leaned in with me to address where he is “misaligned” and “out of integrity” with his own message and how he serves his clients. It was an interesting experience (for both of us) to speak the truth out loud and commit to being better versions of ourselves by speaking the vulnerable, honest truth out loud.

Episode Topic4:40 | Gene and Trevor reflect on how they connected (and jumped into a river)
8:20 | Who is Gene Bernier?
13:22 | Why asking “what do you do” is the wrong question
14:41 | Why are people “resistant” to jumping into the fog?
16:28 | Where has Gene thrown himself into the fog?
20:50 | Why don’t we ask the “hard” questions in life?
22:55 | Why are great coaches great listeners?
24:58 | Trevor speaks about Philip McKernan “holding uncomfortable space”
30:29 | Trevor and Gene talk about the power of being mindful
32:42 | What is the “magic sauce” to being an incredible coach
35:34 | How does Gene integrate his coaching into being a Dad?
42:17 | Trevor asks Gene to Speak The Truth about where he’s misaligned with his message
51:05 | Gene speaks about “braving the wilderness” in the cold river
55:30 | How finding the beauty in the storm can change your life
57:59 | What is the ONE thing that Gene is most grateful for right now?

Episode Quotes“When I get comfortable, there is a sense of boredom. That’s why I get up at 5am to hike a mountain. Because I know I need to do those difficult things to remind myself that I’m alive and that I can overcome complacency.” - Gene Bernier

“I work with leaders that are trapped in the fog. They are really good at what they do, but when they step into a new leadership role, there is an unknown that is uncomfortable. The fog is an incredible teacher.” - Gene Bernier

“I used to ask my podcast guests - what’s the one piece of advice you’d give yourself 10 years ago. I’ve since switched it to - what’s the thing future you will say thank you to you for. It’s about looking forward to find clarity.” - Gene Bernier

“My daughter asked me if I wanted to play Exploding Kittens in the middle of my day. My initial reaction was - awe I really gotta get back to work. But I thought - NO - that’s exactly what I want to be doing right now.” - Gene Bernier

In this episode I celebrate my 1 year anniversary since the launch of The Trevor Turnbull Show! It was enlightening to look back on this journey and reflect on all the “false starts” and “unnecessary delays” that had me launch in August 2021.

I reflected on the guests I was fortunate to talk with on over 55 interviews and some of the highlights from those interviews. I also talked about how the production, post-production and distribution of my podcast evolved over the past year to be a finely tuned machine with detailed workflows executed by an exceptionally talented team.

And, finally, I talked about how I’m going to shift/pivot my approach to podcasting going forward so it is more in line with the life I get to live in Costa Rica, as well as my calling to step up and TRULY amplify the impact of the change makers I speak with every week!

“Ray Dalio and Warren Buffet are still investing and learning. They are working on getting to that next level. I feel the same way when it comes to my mental health and wellness. I am always learning.” - Kaylor Betts

“My heart was racing when I first put out the video (talking about the “pandemic). But it was such a relief because there is something about facing your worst nightmare. It brought a lot of hate my way…but the outpouring of love was amazing.” - Kaylor Betts

“Seneca has a great quote - we often suffer more in imagination than in reality. I don’t think there is a better quote to exemplify (from a mental health perspective) how much suffering we’ve endured in imagination due to our response to this pandemic.” - Kaylor Betts

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Nima Rahmany. Nima is a 2 time guest on my show. And while the first go around was powerful, this conversation ascended to a whole new level! Nima and I met in person on March 10, 2022. A day that both of us will never forget.

Nima shares a story about what happened that day that changed his life forever (and ultimately got him arrested and charged with domestic violence). He shared what he has learned from that experience, how he has processed the incident and what he did (and is continuing to do) to take personal responsibility for his part. This is a vulnerable, honest conversation that will serve many people that have been through (or are currently facing) a similar situation.

He has truly turned his “mess” into his “message”. And, by sharing his story, he is serving others to heal from anxiety and codependency, dismantle recurring family conflicts and create secure relationships from the toxic situations we’ve all inherited from our family of origin (parents, caregivers, siblings)

Episode Topic6:10 | The truth about why I sent my wife to Nima to “fix her”
8:10 | How Nima contributed to the Extremely Conscious Men’s Retreat
17:34 | What happened after Nima’s Overview event on March 11, 2018
35:26 | How do you heal a relationship when the system is broken?
43:26 | Why the “blame game” is a losing battle
47:25 | Can you save a relationship if your partner doesn’t “do the work”?
51:38 | What does it mean to embody “my mess is my message”?
53:25 | What does it mean to be “trigger proof” and a “cycle breaker”?
57:24 | Why we should not “forgive” … we should “understand”

Episode Quotes“In my own personal experience of working with social workers or psychologists, I’ve walked out of the sessions thinking - you are doing the right thing Trevor. But, I was thinking to myself - this shit ain’t working!” - Trevor Turnbull

“Most modalities (of healing) and society structures are very into promoting the victim story. No one gets together by chance. We call in people to purposely bring up our childhood wounding. It’s important for us to break these trauma bonds and get to the root cause of why it happens” - Dr. Nima Rahmany

“The #MeToo movement has been amazing for exposing and bringing to light people who have constantly been silenced and feeling ashamed because they don’t want to speak up. But, like all good things they have a shadow. And, now the #MeToo movement has been weaponized.” - Dr. Nima Rahmany

In this episode I talked about our addiction to “identity”. We do it to attain status in society. We do it to feel like we belong to a tribe. But, the truth is, you are not defined by a “Myers Briggs” type or a “Kolbe” score. And, you are not defined by your college degree, job, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identification or any other “box” that we gravitate to in order to feel safe and included.

You are a spiritual being living a human experience (just like me). And, when you suppress this reality, you are robbing yourself of living your true calling. I spoke about my journey (going all the way back to identifying as a “hockey player” to now being an impact amplifier who is here to serve the change makers of the world with my gifts). This episode is for anyone that has thought to themselves … “There has to be more to this life. I know I’m meant to create more impact in this world. I am ready to live my best life.” You know who you are. I hope you find value in this episode!

Episode Topic2:20 | You are much more than your Kolbe score

In this episode I spoke about the 12 Dimensions Of Life. These are foundational pieces to what I believe we all need to embody (and constantly level up) to truly live a fulfilling life. It was something I created back in Nov 2021 (as I was going through my own personal reflection on “what does it mean to have it all…and is it possible for me to attain it?”)

What I shared in this episode was not only the “what” behind the 12 Dimensions Of Life…but also where I’m currently grading myself on my own personal journey to attaining self-actualization.

I kept it real in this recording. I told the truth. Which is not to say that I’m crushing it in all areas of my life. Quite the opposite. But, I am committed to always evolving. And, I hope that you find inspiration in what I’ve created and who I’m committed to becoming….every single day.

In this episode I reflected on the this past weekend where we hosted 8 magnificent, elevated men at our first Extremely Conscious Men’s Retreat. I spoke about the entire journey from when Mike and I met on the streets of Glenrosa (our community), how our friendship evolved over the past number of months, why we decided to create a retreat, the ups and downs of organizing the retreat and then reflections on the experience of the past weekend.

As I write this, I’m both grateful and proud of what we’ve created. Grateful because we are truly blessed beyond measure to have created this event. And proud because OF COURSE we created this magical experience. We are the conscious creators of everything in our lives!

I’m currently integrating all of the lessons I’ve learned throughout this experience and I’m excited to see what we will create going forward. The world needs more conscious men that will help raise the next generation by BEING the change we wish to see in this world.

Episode Topic3:35 | How Mike and I met on the “mean” streets of Glenrosa
5:30 | My introduction to cold plunging (which has become an obsession)
7:37 | How a “bro weekend” led to the inspiration for the retreat
9:42 | Why you need to make non-negotiable time for your “me” and “us” time
10:30 | The imperfect committed action we took to create the retreat
20:20 | Why embracing the “pain” is critical to growth
27:00 | What’s next for the Extremely Conscious Retreat?
31:55 | How you can join the next Extremely Conscious Retreat
32:42 | You are the creator of your best life (one committed action at a time)
34:20 | How to access your “higher self” right now (get the video series)

Episode Quotes “When I planned a - bro weekend - with my neighbor Mike Prince, my first thought was - can I really just get away for the weekend, without my wife and kids. Am I selfish for thinking that I can spend some time to do self-reflection and quite frankly do nothing if I want to.” - Trevor Turnbull

“My wife and I go away for a couple retreat every quarter and we make it non-negotiable. And, of course, there are always a million reasons why we should cancel every time, but we do it anyway because it’s important.” - Trevor Turnbull

“We ended our retreat weekend with a cold plunge. It was a metaphor for the - hard shit - we face in our lives. Many of them having nothing to do with physical challenges we face but rather speaking out loud your truth or acknowledging a pain that has happened in your past.” - Trevor Turnbull

“You can muscle your way to getting the wife, the kids, the house, the cars, the trips…but there is always this empty feeling of - is that all there is? And then as men we default to - what’s next!? That can be completely draining.” - Trevor Turnbull

“My committed action and what I call into my life shows up for me. I just need to be consciously aware enough to recognize it and move when those opportunities present themselves. When you start moving you create momentum.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode, I’m joined by a 2nd time guest - David Muntner. David is a word magician and visionary thinker. Every time I chat with him, the words and ideas flow. I hired David and his team back in September 2021 when Danielle Grant and I were birthing the idea of The SOURCE Collective.

We talked about the process that he ran us through to help us create the vision. And, we let the conversation go wherever it needed to go. If you are a “creative” thinker (or aspire to be one), you are going to enjoy the way this chat goes down one path, ends up on another and eventually ties back to the foundation of how we started.

This was my favorite conversation on the podcast to date. David’s team calls him the “pinball” and he says “Yes, I am the pinball wizard. We are making magic all day.” If you aspire to write a song that tells the story of your life, you are going to want to listen to this one!

Episode Topic6:10 | David tells a story about the word “energize”
7:07 | Trevor provides an update on what’s happened the past few months
10:00 | David talks about how the book “Messy” was impactful for him
11:30 | David asks Trevor if he has “momentum” in all the “stuff” he has going on
14:58 | Does Trevor feel like everything is “working” in his life?
22:24 | Can you truly have more by doing less?

37:40 | Why does Trevor want it all and what does that mean?

46:41 | David supports Trevor in expanding on the vision of The SOURCE Collective

“I have an alter-ego. His name is Davey Harris. He’s released 3 songs with another 100 or so coming soon. My goal is to release more songs than the Beatles. I write songs really fast.” - David Muntner

In this episode I decided to “free flow” a bit. No script. No notes. Just speaking the truth. Channeling whatever comes to mind. If you’ve been following my journey for any length of time (in particular the past 6 months), you would have seen that I’ve gone through a dramatic transition. What I used to “believe to be true”...I no longer “believe to be true”.

So, what changed? Why do I speak my truth freely? Why am I not concerned about what people might think? What has it created in my life? What has it left behind? These are all questions I addressed in this episode.

And, I share this with YOU right now, because if you choose to watch/listen to my message, I want to invite you to “Reclaim YOUR Higher Self”. The first step is here: https://thesourcecollective.net

Curious? Click the link above and begin your journey.

Did I lose you already? Please close this episode down…and go do SOMETHING that will move you closer to achieving your dreams.

But, PLEASE … don’t waste your time by listening to this, having “good intentions” to “reclaim your higher self” and then do nothing about it.

Move….take COMMITTED action right now! That's all I ask of you. :)

‘I’ve jumped in the cold plunge 89 times in the last 160 days. My longest streak was 12 days in a row. It’s hardwired my brain to lean into doing hard things (even when I don’t want to).” - Trevor Turnbull

“The reason I started cold plunging back in December was because I knew I wanted to push myself. I knew I wanted to commit to growth. I knew it was going to be uncomfortable. I was going to challenge my beliefs and lean into things that would cause me to level up.” - Trevor Turnbull

“My intention when I first started doing cold plunges was to train my brain and body to feel the pain & fear … and do it anyway. I could train myself to do that in all areas of my life.” - Trevor Turnbull

On this episode I’m joined by Sherrie Clark. Sherrie is a best-selling and award-winning author, author coach, ghostwriter, and editor, and award-winning publisher. She’s helped many others' dreams and aspirations become a reality, one that is tangible and that you can hold in your hand.

We discussed the topic of “storytelling” and how it can be very healing and insight for others on their own journey. I’ve yet to write a book, I aspire to write a book…but I haven’t made the time to do it yet. So, I had a lot of questions for Sherrie on how I should approach this from a writing, editing, publishing and promoting perspective. If you’ve ever thought of writing a book you are going to love this episode.

Episode Topic5:08 | How Sherrie went from being a NYC Cop to a best-selling author
8:55 | The time that Sherrie was homeless and how it pushed her to go all in
11:36 | Why do people hesitate to share their story?
15:12 | How your ability to be vulnerable can inspire other to create change
17:18 | Why we sometimes need someone to pull our inspiring story out of us
21:39 | Why should you consider writing a book?
25:49 | Where is the future of book publishing going?
29:57 | Should you try to make money from your book or with your book?
33:00 | Why you need to start with WHY when you write a book?
36:09 | What is the number one thing that stops people from writing a book?
38:57 | Where should you start when you know you have a book in you to write?

Episode Quotes

“Maybe I should actually share my story with the intent of it touching someone's heart that causes them to shift the way they show up in the world.” - Trevor Turnbull

“If you want to do a book, make sure you also do a podcast. And if you are doing a podcast, you should write a book. You should really do both” - Sherrie Clark

“Don’t write what you know…write what you are passionate about.” - Sherrie Clark

“Start with WHY and then strategy and then get into the tactics. If your driver for writing a book is to wrap a marketing campaign around it to generate sales…that’s when it loses its authenticity. You can tactic your way into burnout very quickly” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I talked about why we are moving our family to Costa Rica. Full disclosure, I’ve never been to Costa Rica. I’ve heard good and bad things about the country. I have friends who have lived there. I have friends who currently live there.

Ultimately though, this experience is something that I’ve been visioning for over 15 years. It started when I read a book called “Unlikely Destinations - The Lonely Planet Story” back in 2007. And, that dream is now coming true!

I broke down all the reasons we are planning to move. Some obvious reasons (sun and surf) and some not so obvious reasons (education, politics & taxes). My hope is that this inspires someone to follow their dreams and take the steps TODAY to make it a reality!

Episode Topic1:30 | Why I trust my wife’s intuition (there is a history here :)
6:19 | How “The Lonely Planet Story” changed my life vision forever
10:04 | Why this opportunity to move to Costa Rica didn’t “just happen”...I created it
12:52 | Why the pandemic speed up the ability to live and work in another country
14:25 | Why my wife and I chose “You & Me” by Dave Matthews as our wedding song
15:23 | Reason #1: The weather (good old Vitamin D!)
17:58 | Reason #2: Access to healthy, fresh food
20:09 | Reason #3: The surfing culture
22:55 | Reason #4: The education opportunities
29:58 | Reason #5: The Canadian politics (we gotta talk about it!)
34:48 | Reason #6: The Canadian taxes (and our medical system)
42:34 | Reason #7 | The Costa Rican culture Episode Quotes

“I want to help others that are ready to take that leap into creating everything they desire…because it’s possible. I don’t care what stage you are at right now…I’m here to amplify the impact of change makers of the world. The first step is YOU believing that you are one of those people.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I’m joined by Christine McAlister. Christine and I unfortunately have a shared experience of losing a child due to stillbirth. I first learned about Christine’s loss via a LinkedIn post where she spoke vulnerably about the day she lost her daughter Maeve in 2015 (and I shared about losing our daughter, Indya, in 2016)

To be clear, this interview was filled with gratitude. Christine has an infectious personality and through her loss, she has found her purpose to live life with passion. And, not surprisingly, she has built a business that’s sole purpose is to empower impact-driven entrepreneurs to share their gifts with the world by leveraging her “Powerhouse Podcast Guesting Method”.

6:24 | Trevor reads the LinkedIn post that brought him to tears
9:11 | Christine shares the story of her daughter’s birth and passing
13:28 | Trevor shares the story of his daughter’s birth and passing

58:03 | What is the ONE thing you are most grateful for right now?

1:06:42 | How can people connect with Christine?

Episode Quotes“I remember sitting on the bathroom floor crying one Easter because someone said something that brought up a lot of emotions. I was trying to figure out who I was becoming because the previous version of me had died with her (Maeve).” - Christine McAlister

“I thought to myself for years that I need a better story, I need a better story, I need a better story. All of a sudden, I lost a child and thought…shit…not THAT story! It was that moment that I realized that I am the conscious creator of everything in my life.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I was a professor. I’ve been on both sides of the system. I think the school system is backwards. It did not set me up to be a successful, empowered creator of my own life.” - Christine McAlister

“Yes, money buys us homes and cars and helps us take vacations…but, in the last 2 months as I’ve begun to speak out loud my own truth. I’m attracting people to me that’s creating an abundance of wealth. A limitless abundance of wealth for everybody.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I’m joined by Roy Chong. Roy is the founder of Noodlewave (a Citizen of Republix). We have that in common as my agency was also acquired by Republix a few years ago. Roy also happens to be located in the same city (Kelowna) as me and has 2 young boys.

Roy is an extremely talented creative. In fact, before he started Noodlewave, he was a music producer who won a Juno award and had music on the Billboard charts. He’s now taken that creative talent into his work with clients and recently produced a kid’s album (Song Heroes) that combines animated cartoon characters (modeled after his family) with positive, catchy educational songs.

Episode Topic4:39 | Roy explains how he met my wife (Sharmila) before I knew her
8:26 | Roy discusses his background as an successful music producer
27:15 | Roy talks about starting a content marketing agency before it was a thing
36:28 | Roy explains why creativity is the key to successful marketing campaigns
42:01 | Roy outlines how imagination and action created Song Heroes

Episode Quotes“There was a moment in my music producing career where I had to choose between buying toilet paper or veggies. That was the struggle. And, the question was…would the payoff be worth it?” - Roy Chong

“Think about artists today. If you have talent, you have the ability to get your art out there. You don’t have to convince anyone that it’s good. You just have to put it out into the world and let the world decide whether there is a market for it.” - Trevor Turnbull

“It’s unfortunate that we only take audit of our goals once we’ve had some clarity of milestones achieved. But, in the moment, we are so hard on ourselves. As creators who want to make an impact…when we reach 100,000 people instead of 2M…somehow we don’t recognize the impact we are making.” - Roy Chong

“I had a 7 page resume (more like a portfolio) that screamed don’t hire me. It screamed…I’m not going to stay in this job for more than 6 months cause I’m going to get bored and go start something new.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I wanted to give my kids a template of what’s possible with your imagination if you just put action to your thoughts and creativity. Everyone’s had a million dollar idea in the shower. It’s just that they didn’t do anything with it.” - Roy Chong

In this episode I’m joined by Alex Cargill. Alex is one of the incredible men that I’ve met at theMENtorship.World calls that I attend on Monday night. He always stood out to me partly because of his “manly” voice and presence…but also because of his thoughtful words and willingness to lean in and speak from his heart.

Alex is the Founder of Bear Wolf Integrative. He is committed to supporting other men that have grown up with the story that “real men don’t cry” to shed their masks, embrace their truth and bring light to their dark shadow. This one is for all the “manly” men out there that are ready to be the father, husband and leader they know they are meant to be!

Episode Quotes

“I was going to change our family story. I grew up in an environment where being uncomfortable around money was the place that I was comfortable. It took a lot to get out of that mindset.” - Alex Cargill

“I was this stereotypical man’s man. I had the truck, the money, the wife…and it just went fckin sideways. All I wanted to do was live into my passions. But, I had no idea how to achieve them.”* - Alex Cargill

“When I started getting into things where I was deeper in trouble, I would emotionally disconnect. I would use things to numb myself so that I wouldn’t actually be feeling those problems or pain. The energy got stuck inside me. It stopped me from being able to move forward.” - Alex Cargill

“I still remember my Dad saying - that’s the Turnbull way…you get your stuff through debt financing. The bank helps you pay for it. That stuck with me for a long time. I always thought…is that how it’ll always be? Am I always going to be owing taxes to the government, am I always going to have debts and be behind on payments? I didn’t break thru on that until 4 years ago.” - Trevor Turnbull

“It’s ok to be hurt, it’s ok to be vulnerable, it’s ok to express yourself, it’s ok to let those fuckin tears roll. That’s being a man. Having the emotional intelligence to be able to take care of your emotions insider is how you are stronger for the outside world.” - Alex Cargill Episode Resources*Jordan Peterson on the Joe Rogan Experience

“If I want to create influence and help build the world I want my kids to grow up in, and see my kids become the happiest version of themselves, I need to be the example. I can’t tell them what to do.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I find people want to vilify technology when actually, some of the most incredible people I’ve met (including Brian), I’ve never actually met in person.” - Trevor Turnbull

“If you are not taking care of yourself, you do not have sovereignty in this world. You are subject to someone else imposing a mandate or a rule or a law on you. And, you may have to follow it because you may not have any other choice.” - Brian Pannuzzo

“There’s definitely a mistrust that’s happening with the mainstream media now. People are not stupid. They see what they see, and then when they get the news report saying the opposite…they think - Am I crazy? Am I being gaslit right now?” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I’m joined by Patrick (PJ) Brady and Danielle Grant. I have been introducing Danielle to all of the amazing people I’ve attracted into my world the past few months and the conversations have been AMAZING!

So amazing in fact that I’ve been thinking…I should share these with the world! Unscripted, honest, vulnerable conversations … with no intention of publishing them for the world to see. Which is what makes them so engaging to listen to / watch.

I guess I’ll call this the “Fly On The Wall” series … because that’s what it is. You are getting a peek into the everyday conversations that I’m having with Conscious Creators that are making a difference in the world through their work and by how they are showing up every day.

We spoke about transitioning into the spiritual world, what’s wrong with therapy, ascended information, how to see more “beauty” in the world, why teachers deserve more support and much, much more!

38:11 | Trevor explains his purpose of elevating the change makers of the world
Episode Quotes*“I've learned though that the people that truly are coming into my life now are coming to me because their own soul is guiding me. It's not even about me anymore. It's about their soul needing to come into my experience to help them ascend, which is a completely different experience than most people are in.” - Danielle Grant

“The feedback I received from people I work with is - you've helped me more than my psychiatrist or my counselor in 10 years, because it's just a completely different experience. I'm not talking to your human, I'm talking to your soul and that's not what any of these people are educated in.” - Danielle Grant

“4.5 years ago Facebook took my Facebook page down and I still don’t have access to it. They told me I couldn’t validate my business model of - Consciousness. Because I was sharing about consciousness and they wanted to censor it.” - Danielle Grant

“My kids talk to me about being afraid all the time. And, it’s such an awesome conversation to have. I never went to my parents with that. So, we start to develop language around it and habits around it. And as they get older and develop courage, it’s a tool in their box.” - PJ Brady

Episode Quotes“You know what’s interesting is to watch how the mosaic of life comes together, where I don’t have to do anything to make it come together. I just have to surrender to allow myself to notice that it’s coming together. Life is so magnificent.” - JV Crum III

“I wanted to feel I had control over everything. Where I could strategically and tactically attain my desired result. I dove deep on vision and said….here’s the plan! And, it just never, ever worked out like that. It wasn’t until I surrendered to whatever is that it all started to come together.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I’m joined by Garrison Cohen. Garrison is the founder of The Satori Effect. He serves influential change makers by capturing the humanity, truth and brilliance of their work to share with the world.

Garrison is a visionary, a wordsmith and a storyteller. He has a gift that enables him to see, hear and articulate the true essence of a person (even if they don’t see it themselves). And, through his work, he helps those people share their gifts with the world and attract what they desire.

8:13 | Trevor articulates (from his perspective) the “gift” that Garrison embodies
10:40 | Garrison shares his creative process and what his “work” means to him
14:00 | How your vulnerable, authentic story will attract your perfect client
16:49 | Why speaking your truth won’t necessarily get you what you want
19:50 | Garrison discusses how his childhood shaped his ability to truly see others
23:09 | Is it possible that you will die if you speak the truth?
25:53 | Trevor confronts Garrison on how he is being the example for his clients
32:57 | Why your best “content strategy” has nothing to do with business
37:21 | Garrison challenges Trevor on his thoughts of being a “seeker” vs a “finder”
42:03 | What is the Satori Effect and why it’s the foundation of the 10,000 hours rule
46:12 | How to identify the Satori moments in your life that make up your story
50:22 | Why it makes no f*cking sense that Joe Rogan is so influential

Episode Quotes

“At no other time in the history of humanity have there been more people helping people to help people. Coaches, healers, lightworkers, artists, visionaries are lifting people up and teaching others how to lift people up.” - Garrison Cohen

“Everybody wants to live a life that’s a good story. Ultimately, language is the basis of reality. If you change the language you change the reality.” - Garrison Cohen

“When I’m working on shaping the story for a client, I just start to see little dots begin to connect themselves. Every time it’s a beautiful process.” - Garrison Cohen

“When we look at ourselves as the ultimate client, and then go do the work and say the truth out loud…including the moments when we are confronted and scared. That’s when people actually connect.” - Trevor Turnbull

“The amount of push back that Joe Rogan gets is not a political divide. It’s an absence of wanting to hear the truth that everyone has inside of them. Where there is no absolute truth, but when someone says their truth out loud, it naturally triggers one side of the other.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I’m joined by Patrick “PJ” Brady. PJ is the founder of Brave Smart Kind, a company that started out as a way for him to teach his 3 daughters English. He also wanted to redefine the word “beautiful” to mean something that people feel on the inside, something to help them develop confidence, something they could control.

We had an amazing conversation about what it means to have “values” and “how do you define them”. We also talked about the education system, our concerns and where we see opportunities. If you are a parent that is concerned about what is happening in the world, but also encouraged by the possibilities we can co-created to educate our kids to be more brave, smart and kind, you’ll love this episode!

Episode Topic5:16 | PJ reflects on what Brene Brown’s “survival guide” quote means to him
6:59 | Why the darkness in the world is actually a blessing in disguise
8:15 | Why values should be defined at a young age, not after you “become” a leader
10:36 | How to help your kids define their own values
16:34 | What to do when you are unclear on your own personal values
26:08 | Do your personal and corporate values need to be the same?
30:16 | How values played a major role in Trevor selling his agency
33:54 | Shouldn’t we be teaching this stuff to our damn kids in school
44:44 | Should your education be conditional on the neighborhood you live in?
47:59 | When PJ runs for King of the World…this is what he’ll do…

Episode Quotes“I try to raise my girls with courage, critical thought and kindness. And, every single time it goes back to some kind of childhood trauma or joy, the lessons that I learned in childhood have been the saving grace for myself and my kids…even though they don’t know it yet.” - PJ Brady

“As a parent looking at how this world is right now on a macro level, it gets everyone questioning everything. I think it’s a blessing. Even some of the really dark, bad things we see happening.” - Trevor Turnbull

“The founder of the company that bought my agency created value statements. It played a big part in why I sold my business. Every time I thought about the pros and cons of selling, I went back to these and it played a big part in my decision.” - Trevor Turnbull

“If one of your values is - put people first. People will start to question the values if all of a sudden you are making decisions that aren’t putting the people first. What happens when you have an issue that puts one person against another person?” - PJ Brady

“When I run for King Of The World, my platform is going to be…fund the shit out of education. Can we please take all this money we are spending and start at the foundational level and stop taking money away from education.” - PJ Brady

“I remember hearing recently that we used to trust our politicians and laugh at our comedians. Now, we trust our comedians and laugh at our politicians. So true :).” - Trevor Turnbull

“Anytime we do values and they introduce me to the marketing team, I know we are in trouble right away.” - PJ Brady

In this episode I’m joined by Shelby Scarbrough. She is the author of Civility Rules!, a TedX speaker and Co-Founder of The Global School of Entrepreneurship. We spoke about what it means to be “civil” in the crazy world we live in…as well as why she felt called to create an MBA program focused on serving the entrepreneurs of the world.

As Shelby says…Civility is a promise that we make to each other. It is a proven path to our joy. Morals are subjective, and everyone views what's "right" and "wrong" differently. Where do you fall in the spectrum of having a solid moral compass? Are you civil when it matters?

Episode Topic6:45 | Shelby speaks about her journey from the White House to who she is today
11:57 | How “civility” has changed over the last 2 years due to COVID, politics & war
15:46 | Why personal responsibility is critical to creating a more civil world
18:57 | The neurobiology of why civility is important and how it can support change
24:17 | Why we need to see the world through the eyes of others without local media bias
29:15 | Why anger is actually an expression of love
33:50 | Why disruption in business can be good and bad (depending on perspective)
36:30 | Why Shelby decided to create The Global School of Entrepreneurship
44:54 | What is the “joy journey” and why we are all seeking it
47:58 | What is ONE thing you are most grateful for (and why)?
49:41 | How can people find out more about Shelby?

Episode Quotes“We’ve come to this place now where it’s almost tragic. We are not able to hear each other anymore because we are so polarized. Especially in North America where if you don’t believe what I believe - then you are evil” - Shelby Scarbrough

“I’m the only one that can change the world around me for the better. And, hopefully that will encourage others to take on the challenge too. I can’t go around telling people how to behave.” - Shelby Scarbrough

“It gets me thinking how powerful - or misconstrued - words can be. I’ve heard people reference the COVID situation as - you are either a Covidian or a Covidiot or something in between.” - Trevor Turnbull

“Maybe I should stop with my internal complaining and my external complaining - to my wife - where she is taking the brunt of my perspective and belief systems and instead train myself to be more empathetic while still having my own opinion.” - Trevor Turnbull

“Ask yourself - what am I feeling - and get in touch with your own core feelings and that will help you parse it a bit and move forward.” - Shelby Scarbrough

“For anyone that doesn’t know, when you scroll through your social feed and slow down for a second…you see more stuff like that…just so everyone knows.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I did the Harvard Owner, President, Manager program which I found really interesting. But it was most valuable to me because of the other people in the class.” - Shelby Scarbrough

“The education that I get to create for my kids includes emotional intelligence, learning about what is coming in the future as well as culture.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I finally speak out loud about something that has been a vision of mine for the past 4 months. It’s something that I was hesitant to share for the feeling that “people” might think I’m crazy. :)

As I’ve been down a personal journey of self discovery, enlightenment and awakening, I’ve attracted people in my life that are also seeking a connection that can’t be explained, it can only be felt.

In that time, I’ve realized that I am not alone in my desire of creating a beautiful world that already exists when we remove the resistance and lean into the reality that everything we desire can easily be created with ease and flow.

The Source Collective is a container that I’ve co-created with my spiritual guide, Danielle Grant. It is without boundaries or structure, it is a reclaiming of higher self, it is a space that connects Conscious Creators that believe in a world of unlimited possibilities.

Episode Topic0:00 | Why I’ve been feeling “heavy” lately
2:44 | The inner peace I’ve been looking for
5:18 | What the last 4 months has opened up for me
9:25 | The “high vibe transmission” calls I’ve been doing with Danielle
11:08 | The 12 areas of life that I want to create mastery around
12:09 | Self care, health & fitness
13:55 | Parenting, relationship & community/social
18:37 | Finances, business & impact/influence
28:53 | Character, intellect & mindfulness
37:45 | The WHY behind “The Source Collective”
39:36 | The “golden thread conversations” that connect to source
44:11 | What does the dragonfly symbolize? Episode Quotes“I have the ability to shift whether or not I show up with gratitude in the morning or. Fear, whether or not I show up with curiosity and wanting to explore things that are unknown to me or whether or not I get resistant to that and say, no, this is the absolute truth.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I feel like I want to float on my own bubble, my own cloud, and just be the creative that I know that I am. The conscious creator, the person that actually seeks out new ways of seeing things, new ways to communicate things in order to be able to connect with people.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I don't want a thousand friends online. I want a handful of really tight, close knit people in my world that I can spend time with who lift me up.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I had to question…Are my kids going to learn about emotional intelligence in school in Canada? Are they going to learn about what I'm speaking about here today? Which is you are the creator of everything in your life. You are source.” - Trevor Turnbull

“My wife and I do quarterly couple retreats. We discuss…what do we want as individuals? What do we want as a couple? What do we want for our kids? How are we going to manage our finances? What does the future look like for us? Let's visualize that. Let's write it down.” - Trevor Turnbull

“It was only four years ago that I was $200,000 in debt and had just taken out another hundred thousand dollar loan to be able to invest in a mentorship program to just get my head straight.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode, I’m joined by Duncan Littlefield. Duncan and I connected about 1 year ago and hit it off right away. I remember resonating with the story he told about his days as a professional golfer, the “identity” he had attached to and how he reinvented himself.

He has since gone on to become a visionary storyteller that has founded numerous companies. I’m constantly amazed how he “balances” all of his ventures while leveling up his leadership skills along the way to enroll “integrators” to make his visions come to life.

We also discussed one of his projects called “Who Stories” where he supports inspiring individuals to tell their authentic story … because “you are enough!”.

Episode Topic5:06 | Duncan explains why he chooses to dive into the deep end and figure out how to swim
8:04 | Duncan talks about his time as a golfer and how he detached from that identity
13:12 | Duncan speaks about his journey to become a creative storyteller
19:03 | Duncan talks about his first few businesses and why “stories” are everything
23:38 | Trevor and Duncan talk about how to know whether you are a “visionary”
29:50 | Duncan shares the “vision” of The Littlefield Company as a “creative agency”
36:44 | How does a “visionary” enroll their team to “co-create” the vision?
41:33 | How do you stand out in a “busy” marketplace with your story?
51:08 | You are the greatest version of yourself right now…own it!
55:40 | Trevor’s vision for leveraging the blockchain & NFTs to create a documentary

Episode Quotes“Everything we have going on is a lot. But, it’s all self-inflicted. I created the deep end, I filled it up with water and I was the one that chose to dive from the high dive without any swimming lessons” - Duncan Littlefield

“I actually got pulled over when driving home from my last golf tournament because I was speeding. I was so in my head about where I was, where I was going, what I was doing. I’ll never forget the conversation I had with the police officer. I realized in that moment, I am no longer a professional golfer, and that’s ok.” - Duncan Littlefield

“It was probably 3 years ago I first heard the term - visionary and integrator - and I actually said to my wife…I think I’m a visionary. My first thought was to default to my humble Saskatchewan roots and say - I’m not a visionary, that sounds conceited and like…I don’t want to do the work.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I thought that if I give up all the roles in my business that I’d be giving up control and I won’t be leading anything. It almost felt like another death. Like I was losing a piece of my baby. It was such a backwards way of thinking when trying to grow a business.” - Trevor Turnbull

“I’ve always said that I am the guy that runs from 40-60% of the race or the puzzle. Then I get really bored and say - someone else take this and run with it” - Duncan Littlefield

“How do you do things differently? Why should they listen to you? What connects you to that person on a personal level that makes them trust you?” - Trevor Turnbull Episode Resources MentionedFrame Of Mind (Interview with Duncan Littlefield)Rocket Fuel (Book)

In this episode I’m joined by Mike Prince. How do I describe Mike Prince. Well…he’s my neighbor, he introduced me to cold plunging, he’s the local owner of Hydrofly Kelowna, he’s a former elite Hydroflight athlete, he has a sales background, he’s a husband and father of 2 young boys (similar age to my kids) and he was diagnosed with Lyme Disease within the last year.

Mike joined me in my home podcast studio for my first “in-person” interview to tell his story (the entire “messy journey) and how he’s reinventing himself through mindfulness, breathwork, meditation and presence. We spoke about what it takes to shed the “stories” we attach to that are holding us back from living our best lives. As well as, what the future of sales, parenting and connection looks like when you focus on the day and change your story.

Episode Topic6:40 | Mike explains why he bought me the “Tell Me Your Story, Dad” book
8:05 | Trevor and Mike discuss Jordan Peterson’s quote on the Joe Rogan Experience
13:09 | Mike challenges Trevor to “sit in the silence” in the cold plunge
16:33 | The power of “silence” in the sales game
18:08 | Why the metrics we measure in sales are not telling the full story
21:56 | Mike shares his “messy journey” that challenged him to reinvent his identity
30:01 | Mike speaks about the “lightbulb moment” when he embraced spirituality
33:10 | Mike talks about how he found out he had Lyme disease (and learned to love it)
41:52 | Trevor shares how he manifested pain in his life because of jealousy over Lewis Howes
45:06 | Mike reflects on why leading with love is a conscious choice Episode Quotes“I know that if I’m authentic in speaking my truth on my podcast, my kids are going to see that as a blueprint of my life and how I’ve shaped my beliefs” - Trevor Turnbull

“If you think about the amount of content you put out and consume on a daily basis…to sit in the silence is a challenge but also a blessing when you learn to harness it.” - Mike Prince

“Old sales tactics are dead. I don’t answer phone numbers I don’t recognize. Don’t get me wrong, I’m kind when I do end up on cold calls, but what works in sales today is listening and aligning the need with a solution” - Mike Prince

In this episode I’m joined by Danielle Grant and Steve Gordon. Two people in my life that lift me up, give me energy, challenge my beliefs and elevate my highest self.

Danielle is the founder of TheSpiritualRoom.com and is a spiritual guide that has helped me navigate my own personal journey of “spiritual awakening”. Steve is the CEO/Founder of UnstoppableCEO.com and someone that I highly respect for how he shows up in the world and serves leaders that have a message to share.

We spoke about some deep topics related to “speaking your truth”, “how to find your tribe”, “embracing your failures”, “the stories we attach to” and “what happens when we die”. Conversations like this matter…I hope you enjoy it!

16:09 | Danielle & Steve speak about the internal/external conversation about “highest self”

26:56 | How do you find your “tribe” when you are seeking community and mentorship
32:10 | Why does “making money” and “following your purpose” need to be separate?
37:44 | How to reframe what it means to “fail” in entrepreneurship (not what you think!)
40:25 | What makes Tom Brady the “GOAT” is not his wins, but his response to failures
46:45 | How does “energy” & “vibration” play into your current and future reality
49:48 | The “stories” we attach to when there is no verbal feedback loop (silence)
1:00:07 | What does the term “highest self” mean and how do we distort it?
1:05:33 | How to reframe to the idea of “death” and “evolution” Episode Quotes“I think there is a certain magic in conversation. It’s baked into us as human beings pretty deeply. It’s how we’ve made allies. It’s how we’ve entertained ourselves. It’s core to how we interact with one another.” - Steve Gordon

“The entrepreneurial disease that we are talking about is that they are so focused on the learning things that facilitate their physical reality and do very little to actually understand the internal reality that actually matters more.” - Danielle Grant

“You get to a state of mindfulness & awareness by asking the deeper questions of - why am I in this place? Why do I feel uncomfortable? Why do I feel anxious? In the moment of those questions you are engaging the vibrational field in which those discomforts live within.” - Danielle Grant

“I’ve been in a lot of different masterminds. And, a lot of times you end up around people that are just pretending. I find that I want to be around people who are building real businesses that have longevity. Where they have a mission beyond the money. I am attracted to being around people that are building something that is bigger than themselves.” - Steve Gordon

“I had built up a business that was doing about $700k per year, barely profitable, I had $200k in debt, my relationship with my wife was terrible, the people I had working with me were not really inspired. I was tired, depressed and angry. That’s what I said out loud. And, it opened up the space for everyone else to tell the real story.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode, I’m joined by Darryl Sangster of Sangster Franchise Group. Darryl and I have known each other for almost 30 years now and have been through many experiences together both personally and professionally.

I really admire Darryl for how he shows up every day as a leader in his business, his community and for his family. We dove deep into the lessons he’s learned over the years around leadership and learning from the ups and downs that life throws at us.

His multiple decades as a franchise owner and now franchise owner consultant have equipped him to have the tough conversations with people he serves … because at the end of the day, Darryl solves problems. That’s why he’s known as “The Franchise Wolf” :)

Episode Topic5:42 | Darryl talks about embracing hitting home runs and striking out in business and life
7:18 | Trevor and Darryl speak about the emotional rollercoaster of reaching your goals
10:30 | Darryl speaks about “presence” and why it’s more important than just “showing up”
14:10 | Why entrepreneurs struggle to be present with family and how to fix it
16:21 | Darryl reflects on the day he was approved for a $1M loan (and what he learned)
18:18 | Darryl explains his background in franchising and the leadership skills he developed
29:20 | Darryl talks about his late Dad and the lessons he taught him about leading people Episode Quotes“I had an entrepreneurial father. He taught me not to be afraid to fail. Ya it hurts and you feel embarrassed but at the end of the day it’s really cool to hit some home runs. I’ve failed big and I’ve hit some big home runs. And I’m proud of both.” - Darryl Sangster

“When you are so driven, have a value around entrepreneurship and have your identity attached to it…you just keep going and have a really hard time slowing down.” - Trevor Turnbull

“My Dad built up a great reputation in the franchising sector. There’s a lot of people in the Canadian Franchise Association that still bring up his name. He built a reputation as a good, honest, tough business man. He knew how to put on the gloves and go to battle…but always with respect.” - Darryl Sangster

“The hard skills of business are taught through schools, the school of hard knocks and mentorship. But the soft skills of business like empathy & caring are critical. Not trying to make the numbers work on the P&L, but actually looking at the people and considering how you can help them live their best life.” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I speak about something close to my heart. I believe this is also a topic that we all need to talk about more. And, simply put, we need to “talk” more. After all, everyone has experienced “trauma” in their lives (in some way, shape or form). And, when we speak our truth out loud so we can be seen and heard … that’s when healing happens.

As Gabor Mate says “Trauma is not what happens to you…it’s what happens inside you”

This episode is building on my last one where I spoke about “what this pandemic is doing to my kids”. I felt compelled to address what many people are feeling in the world right now by connecting it to some personal stories about mental health and suicide. (and how I’ve chosen to reframe both in a way that serves me at this moment of my life.)

My hope is that by starting the discussion, I will open the space for others to speak their truth. Because when we do, magical things happen all around us. I appreciate you for listening to me, and I encourage you to reach out to me if anything I’ve said resonates with you.

Your truth matters! And, remember that healing happens in respectful, empathetic, vulnerable, honest conversation. Find your community. Speak your truth. Lead with love.

In this episode, I decided it’s time to speak my truth. I’m tired. I’m frustrated. I’m done being quiet about this topic for the “fear” that someone might not agree with me or think that I’m just “angry”. Heck, some people might be triggered by my “truth”. But, it’s time to step up and play my part in the change I want to see in this world. As a father. As a husband. As a leader. As a human being.

As I publish this episode, my kids are being robbed of childhood experiences, memories and emotions. It’s not right. It needs to end. There needs to be more smiles, hugs and love in this world. It’s time to end the small business closures, mandates and vaccine passports. We may not agree … and I’m ok with that … I got nothin but love for ya! :) But this is my truth … and it comes from a place of love.

If you resonate with my message, I’d love to hear from you. If you disagree with me, I’d love to hear from you. I choose to live in a world that lives from a place of “gratitude”, “curiosity” & “bravery”... not “fear”, “lockdowns” & “mandates”. Let’s elevate together and change the story.

“I remember the first time I went on an all-inclusive vacation to Mexico in 2004. I flew down from -30C Saskatchewan weather, it was gorgeous and I drank and ate my face off for 7 days straight. Looking back I think that if I operated now like I did back then I wouldn’t last a month. I’d end up sick and depressed” - Trevor Turnbull

“I was on the water a few months ago and I met this couple out surfing. I started talking to this guy that has a business that is valued at $4.5B and he was struggling. I gave him some surfing tips and it was amazing to watch his mind open up as I helped him catch a wave” - Ryan Peters

Episode Quotes“I really live by John Lennon’s saying - Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. Cause we never know what life has in store for us. I also think alot about the butterfly effect. How things that sometimes seem insignificant can have a major repercussion in our lives and in the lives of others” - Laurent Goldstein

“The problem I see is that too many people have ideas, but they lack the drive to make it happen. I live by the saying - some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, some people say…what happened” - Laurent Goldstein

“The tallest skyscrapers are built in a way to withstand earthquakes or high winds…they flex. I think the key in life is flexibility. We need to keep moving in life. We can’t stay still. That’s one of the secrets in life. Life is motion” - Laurent Goldstein

“I love cold calling. Most people hate it. They think it’s inefficient as a method of making sales. I love meeting new people. Everything in life has to do with the attitude that we have towards what happens to us. My attitude is that I’m open to unlimited possibilities” - Laurent Goldstein

“I came from a sales world that existed before social media where my first sales manager threw a yellow pages phone book on my desk and said - best of luck kid. I had to drive around town and look for phone numbers on signs and go to networking events” - Trevor Turnbull

“Your smallest daily habits ultimately lead to your greatest successes on the other end. It compounds. It’s just that nobody gives you a high five or celebrates the fact that you got up early again” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I’m joined by Jason Thompson. With over 25 years of television, video gaming, mobile apps, book publishing and advertising experience, Jason is obsessed with innovating new ways of creating amazing narratives that are absurdly memorable and effective.

He has worked as a writer, story artist, animation director, animator and designer on productions for Disney Jr., Disney Interactive, Warner Brothers, CBC, Teletoon, National Geographic Kids and the Cartoon Network.

Our conversation dove into what it’s like to be a Dad in today’s connected world, the importance of being resilient when you are finding (and following) your passions and how NFTs are impacting the world of art (and artists).

Episode Topic6:39 | Who is Jason Thompson and why did he start The Art of Dad
11:54 | How did Jason become an artist after going to Queen’s business school
15:30 | The turning point in France where Jason realized that he needed to follow his passion

25:30 | Why it’s important to let our kids curiously explore the world and find their own path
31:53 | How NFT’s are impacting the art world and the opportunities it is creating for artists

Episode Quotes“The Art of Dad really started when my daughter was 3 years old. It became an outlet of those amazing (and upsetting) moments of being a Dad. When I started taking my sketchbook to swimming lessons and gymnastics, people kept peeking over my shoulder to take a look and told me I should share them with the world” - Jason Thompson

“I didn’t recognize that I could earn a living as an artist/illustrator until I was almost 30. It was always a nice creative outlet for me, but I originally wanted to become a CEO that would lead and inspire people in a global organization” - Jason Thompson

“I went into advertising as a suit. After a year in that role I realized it wasn’t for me. So, I approached the president of the firm and said I’d like to work in the creative department and he told me - suits don’t become creatives. So, I quit, started my journey in the animation game and have now been doing it for 25 years” - Jason Thompson

“In the film/movie business, if you want to be a producer, the best way to start down that path is to go get a business card and put - producer” on it - and then be that” - Trevor Turnbull

“I think so much of where I am right now is having the attitude - ya I can do that. You have to have the belief in yourself and not be afraid to make a change or make mistakes as you figure out what it is you want to do” - Jason Thompson

But the truth is that person is likely really creative and sees the world in a different way that is different from the norm. That’s how I feel now, but it took a while to embrace that. For a long time I was trying to just fit in with what I thought I was supposed to be.” - Trevor Turnbull

“My life is a fuckin mess that could be viewed as a swamp or a Hawaiian paradise depending on who you ask or the time of day. What I’m reflecting on is the different lives I’ve lived. And it’s fun to reflect on these different lives you’ve led and how if you leverage that information it can become very powerful. But if you keep it spread out and separated you can go crazy.” - Dave Muntner

“Listening is certainly a skillset and there is almost a requirement to be a curious person.” - David Muntner

“Personal development is really the gateway drug for entrepreneurship. The deeper you go in yourself the more you create your universe. And then it becomes - what’s the universe I’m going to create for myself financially and the independence to move in that direction.” - David Muntner

“2 years ago I shifted from Clarity Consultant to Visionary Consultant based on a recommendation from a friend who said - who are your clients - they are motherfuckin visionaries.” - David Muntner

“In my company Rennaisance Messaging I am the CCO (Chief Catalyst Officer), the CEO (Chief Empowerment Officer) and newly added CEO (Chief Energy Officer) … that is really my lane of genius. And when I step outside of that I become the CBO (Chief Bottleneck Officer) and you can smell my BO everywhere.” - David Muntner

Episode QuotesAll roads can lead to Rome. Our experience of life doesn’t have a lot to do with the destination. It’s less about the journey or the destination...it’s more about the company that you’re with along the way” - Quddus

“Having girls scream my name and put their fingers through my hair was great for my ego, but was it fulfilling? No. It’s like eating a bag of candy. It’s really sweet for a second and then you feel like shit” - Quddus

“When we think about what authenticity is, it’s not being the middle point of Ryan Seacrest and Oprah, it’s being Quddus” - Quddus

“What we all do so much of in this world is we look at each other's social media and we start to measure ourselves, compare ourselves and be like other people because they’re successful and we think we need to pretzel into who they are in order to be successful too” - Quddus

“Now when I get on camera, I’m very clear about who my authentic self is and what my intention is. Before the trainings, I was a hologram. I was a projection of who I thought I should be for the world” - Quddus

“Often times we think about our circle of concern (in the world) which is huge. When we bring it down to the circle of influence that we have and can actually make a difference with, then it becomes a less overwhelming conversation” - Quddus

In this episode I’m joined by Jeff Swan, Founder of Outbound SOS, a fellow Kelowna(ite?) and someone that I felt an immediate connection to after being introduced by a mutual friend (Danielle Grant). While Jeff is a master at “selling” and coaching others to improve their sales results, what stands out to me is that he truly leads with value first.

We dug deep into the childhood experiences that have shaped his beliefs and why (in his words) he’s known EXACTLY what he’s wanted to do with this life 3 different times. Which is to say that he’s adapted and evolved as life has thrown curve balls at him over the years.

Episode Topic5:47 | Why both Jeff and I feel a sense of “community” in the Okanagan vs the “big city”
7:54 | How Jeff knew exactly what he wanted to do …. 3 times … and how he evolved
11:10 | Visionaries vs Integrators - what they are and how to know which one YOU are
15:08 | Lessons learned in a “restoration business” that sharpened Jeff’s leadership skills
20:10 | Jeff shares a story about when he knew that he couldn’t be an “employee”
24:32 | Jeff speaks about how his challenging childhood shaped his drive as an entrepreneur
27:16 | How to see the duality in all situations in life to move forward when “failure” happens
31:59 | Why entrepreneurs get addicted to success and failure
33:30 | The importance of “slowing down” to avoid burnout and receive everything you desire

Episode Quotes“From the earliest age I knew exactly what I wanted to do. And that changed 3-4 times. But they were all in the same area of taking everything I am good at and turning it into something that can be sold” - Jeff Swan

“It was only 3 years ago I heard the terms visionary and integrator. And when I heard it a lightbulb went off where I said, holy shit I’m a visionary, I gotta stop trying to do all this other stuff” - Trevor Turnbull

“I know that when I apply myself I can do anything. When I want to prospect I can book meetings. When I want to sell I can close deals. But, I recognized that I want to give it my all on a handful of tasks as opposed to doing a lot not that well” - Jeff Swan

“I had almost $1M in my pipeline in Feb 2020. I looked at it and thought this is going to be my best month ever, my best year ever. And then boom...COVID hit. All of my pipeline disappeared” - Jeff Swan

“There’s a lot of resources, programs, courses, live events and Tony Robbins that will teach you how to goalset and manifest your future, and then shit happens. And how you react is ultimately the indicator of how your life ends up going” - Trevor Turnbull

“I just talked to a guy the other day who said - that was my million dollar mistake - and I said - oh you only have one of those? That’s a right of passage if you are an entrepreneur!” - Trevor Turnbull

“We are entrepreneurs. When shit hits the fan, you don’t go look for a job. You figure out innovative ways to solve problems” - Trevor Turnbull

“When I look back at my entire history, my entrepreneurship, my ability to just pick up and go, it really comes from the fact that I didn’t have any safety net whatsoever.Episode Resources3 Lessons From The BC Wildfires (LinkedIn Post)Danielle Grant (Spiritual Room)Seaspiracy (Netflix) Guest Contact InfoOutbound SOSConnect with Jeff on LinkedIn

In this episode I was joined by Dai Manuel and Nik Wood. The two of them have created an incredible space for men wanting to be GREAT men. For themselves, their families, their friends and for the world. I personally discovered this space at a time when I was searching for a community where I could show up, be seen, be heard and be accountable to becoming the greatest version of myself.

We spoke about the story behind how The MENtorship World community came to be and WHY they created it. The weekly calls that Dai & Nik created came into my life at a time when I wasn’t even sure what I was looking for, and it was exactly what I needed. I encourage any of the men watching/listening to this episode to join us on a future call as it will provide you with the support and accountability to be the greatest version of yourself.

“As I was maturing and doing my own inner work (coaches, psychologist, counsellors) I realized I didn’t have a lot of close male friends. Friends that I could be open with, honest with, completely transparent with …. and not fear that I’m going to be judged” - Dai Manuel

“I sometimes joke that I’m a trojan horse, I’m this giant dude so no one ever questions my manliness. But I’m really emotional. So, it creates a space that other men can share whatever is alive and real for them” - Nik Wood

In this episode, I’m joined by Dwight Heck. Dwight and I met a few months ago at the MENtorship Monday events. He always stood out to me as someone that speaks his unfiltered truth. We spoke about how the education system in North America is broken, specifically in it’s lack of focus on emotional intelligence, financial literacy and relationship building.

We also spoke about how it’s easy for some people to look at someone else that is “successful” and say “man, you are lucky”. He shared a story about a speaker that shifted his belief about what it means to intentionally create your own future, no matter what your current circumstances might be.

Episode Topic5:27 | The childhood experiences that shaped Dwight’s view on the value of relationships
7:30 | Why learning “the rules of the money game” is a fundamental skill everyone needs

22:07 | Dwight shares a story about “luck” and why “success” has nothing to do with luck
27:20 | How to create financial freedom by focusing on your mindset, heart and emotions

Episode Quotes“It’s better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt” - Dwight Heck

“Part of the motivation to move our family down to Costa Rica is because of the school system. We want an environment where our kids are learning about emotional intelligence and going surfing in board shorts for physical activity” - Trevor Turnbull

“I want our kids to learn about personal development, I want them to learn about how to communicate with people, I want them to learn about how to internalize the strife in their brain that’s causing them so much grief” - Dwight Heck

“There is no magic formula for success when it comes to starting your own business and becoming financially free. It’s a bunch of small decisions that get made over time” - Trevor Turnbull

In this episode I pause, reflect and celebrate the experience of recording and listening to the first 9 episodes of The Trevor Turnbull Show. The inspiration for creating this podcast has evolved over time, but the foundational element has always been to have vulnerable, honest conversations that will inspire me to embrace my own “mess” and live my best life.

My hope is that these interviews have been inspiring for you as well. And, one of the key takeaways from reflecting on the first 9 episodes was a realization that podcasting is healing. Deep I know :) I explain what I mean by this in this solo episode. Thank you for listening to date and I look forward to sharing more inspiring stories with you in the weeks, months and years ahead!

Episode Topic1:00 | Review of the first 9 episodes and what I learned in those conversations
8:00 | When I realized that podcasting is healing (and what I mean by this)
11:20 | The blessing that this podcast has provided to me (and hopefully you too!)

In this episode I’m joined by Michael Graham. Michael has been a friend of mine for 10 years now and is someone that has a massive heart and is truly a “giver”. If you’ve ever read the book “Give & Take” by Adam Grant, you’ll know what I mean by this. :)

Michael and I had a great conversation about his childhood where he was adopted at the age of 2 and how that has impacted his life, family and relationships over the last 50 years. 10:00 | How he landed in the hospitality industry and made Whistler his home

“When you are selfish about your commitment to being the greatest version of yourself, that’s the most selfless thing you can do to be of serve to others” - Trevor Turnbull

“I realized that trying to impose my journey on my partner(s) was selfish on my part. It’s their journey and they need to experience it on their own terms and timeline” - Michael Graham

“In raising our kids, I can tell them what to do, but if they see me being the example it is going to land 10x more for them” - Trevor Turnbull

“Someone asked me the other day - “what’s your dream job” - I have 2. I want to do a TEDtalk to bring awareness to these topics we are discussing and I want to be a photographer for National Geographic. Both of those things will enable me to fulfill my passions - travel, people and serving” - Michael Graham

In this episode I was joined by Ron Tite. Ron is a speaker, author and founder of Church+State (an agency that helps brands navigate the unified worlds of advertising and content by creating stuff that people want to see, not stuff they have to see.)

We discussed a recent LinkedIn post that he shared talking about why you don’t need to be a “father” to play a “fatherly” role in someone’s life.

Ron is an incredible storyteller that is able to weave humor into his content in a way that really lands and resonates. And, this interview was no exception as Ron shared numerous stories about his own experiences with his Dad (and step-dad) and how they shaped him as a leader and how he chooses to show up as a Dad to his 2 young kids.

Episode Topics

6:24 | How his experience with his Dad has impacted him as a Dad

12:34 | Why he believes everyone can (and should) be a leader in a company

15:26 | How being vulnerable with his team brought them closer together

17:30 | How much is “too much” when it comes to being vulnerable (and honest) when sharing content online (personally and as a company)

22:03 | The blurred line between great content and advertising (to capture the attention of your audience)

23:24 | The “dark” story that he told about his Dad to close his presentation at The Art of Leadership conference

Episode Quotes

“I think your title (in a company) should be an acknowledgement of what you’ve already done…not for what you will do” - Ron Tite

“People used to vote with their wallets and now they vote with their time. So, how do we win that battle for time?” - Ron Tite
