Forgiveness is essentially an emotional, mental, and spiritual freeing. It’s the potential to stop feeling resentment, to stop dwelling on the past. It’s granting yourself permission to move past grudges, blame, condemnation, even retaliation. It’s taking back your happiness instead of allowing others to control it. It’s taking responsibility for how you want to feel, how you want to perceive those who have hurt you, how you want to perceive yourself if you’ve done the hurting. And how to move forward with love from there.

How do you feel about you at this point in your life? Do you think you’re pretty amazing? Or do you have doubts? Do you ever feel like you’re trying to prove your worth in some way? Does the chatter your head touch on what you’ve done right, but then quickly turns to—but look how far you’ve got to go, or look where you’ve messed things up, or you’re not that great. If you could create some cues for your brain to automatically feel better would you do it?

It is possible to create these thoughts; and in this podcast, I'll give you four ideas that will get you there. Thanks for joining me!

The benefits of exercise extend from weight management, to better mental health, to increased brain function, to sleeping better, to longevity. The idea that exercise can help you live an active, healthy life for most of your life--way into your 60s, 70s and even 80s is a great reason to add it to your daily routine.

Maybe it’s time for you to reconsider why exercise is important for you be it mental, physical, or long term. Once you have a reason, do it! Stick with it. Make that decision every day. Make it a priority. Taking care of you will help you take care of everyone and everything else on you plate. And more importantly it will stand as an example that others can do the same.

Freedom is a gift and until you’ve lost it, you might not understand how precious it truly is. If your life experience has lost you some freedom, I’m here to tell you, you can get it back. Maybe you’ve made some poor decisions that have lead to quite painful results, but nonetheless, these decisions can be a refiners fire for you. They are full of some of the best lesson’s life can give you. The truth is we will mess up. We will make mistakes. We will never be perfect. But sometimes it’s the wrong choice that really stretches our capacity to grow. Our capacity to love. Our capacity to forgive. Our capacity to understand others. Our capacity to get what we want.

How many times have you tried to change someone else. Let’s just be real for a minute. Probably more than you’d like to admit. How has that worked out for you? Well, it doesn’t work for me either. Self control is about changing the one person you have complete control over, and that’s you! However, some magical things happen when you change. When you change the world around you changes. That means others will change too. It’s inevitable. So you may start this journey to get yourself in line, but end up getting the exact things you’d like in the world around you. Not because you’re demanding them, but because you’re allowing others to take control of their own choices too.

Is your consistency giving you credibility as a parent? When what you say you’ll do and what you do do match, the influence you have on your kids is incredible.

This may seem simple, but don’t underestimate it. It actually creates a foundation of trust that permeates the relationship with your kids. Kids know if they can trust what you say or not. You’ve already taught them by your actions. Don’t worry that your kids never listen to you worry that they always listen to you. Consistency starts with you.

How many times have you started something new. How many times have you given up on that new thing you started. It happens all the time. If there are areas you’ve started on but have stopped I want to challenge you to start again… and then again…and then again. Failure is only stopping what you started. Everything else is just a stepping stone to getting you closer to your goal. And if that seems unrealistic, I’d love to help you realize your potential. Sometimes we just need someone to believe in us, even if it’s only one person. Never fear starting something new, even if you have to start over and over again. It doesn’t matter what you did yesterday, last week, or last year. Today might be the last time you start.

Unlike traditional mentoring or therapy sessions where the therapist focuses on the past, coaching focuses on the future.  Where do you want to go? What does tomorrow look like for you? Coaching uses questions to help you figure these things out. Furthermore, where the therapist was seen as the expert, and the client the learner, in a coaching relationship you are the expert. You know yourself better than anyone else.

Coaching is about listening. Coaching is about understanding. Coaching is helping you solve your own problems. Because the truth is, you are smart. You don’t always need someone to come in and tell you what to do. Sometimes you need someone to just listen. Someone who will hold space for you and keep you accountable to the goals you decide are most valuable.

This is coaching.

Where do we get our limitations, our insecurities. Where does small thinking stem from? Do you believe that what others think of you matters more than what you think of yourself?

Each of us have had experiences that shaped the way we thought about ourselves. Maybe it was a sibling or a parent or a friend or maybe it was yourself who said something and it stuck.

But what if it wasn’t true? What if you’ve let it stop you from doing what you really wanted? What if that supposed limitation was actually a stepping stone to get you closer to who you wanted to be.

What are your negative thoughts trying to tell you? Where’s the gap? What’s the solution? Let your brain go to work on these solutions. It loves this kind of challenge. It’s relentlessly working. You might as well have it work for you.

If you want to know the truth, being consistent can be boring, monotonous, it can even seem unimportant. It can also seem like moving a mountain. Either way, these seemingly small or monumental choices add up.  Consistency is like a deposit, a small droplet, an investment. However, these deposits may seems so insignificant you don’t even notice them. Even a weeks worth of consistency seems trivial. But after a few months the difference is detectable. After a year the foundation is visible. After several years the load-bearing part of the substructure can even take the stress of unforeseen storms. The building may get rattled, but the foundation is significantly strong. This is the magic of consistency.  Small, insignificant, daily tasks done over time compound to great things.  The same holds true when you are not consistent.  At first you might not notice the small extraction. In fact, the withdrawal seems so insignificant you don’t even notice it. Even a weeks worth seems trivial. But after a few months the difference is detectable. After a year the foundation starts to crack. After several years the load-bearing part of the substructure can’t even take the stress of a small storm. The building gets rattled, it may even fall. This is the downfall of consistency. Small, insignificant, errors made over time compound to make life difficult.  So whether you like it or not, you are already consistent. You’ve been making choices most your life. If you want to know what you’ve been doing consistently look at your outcome. Results don’t lie. Thousands of small seemingly unimportant decisions when stacked together make up your life, small decisions that are as easy to do or small errors that are easy to do. The choice is yours.
