Jec was raised in a horse training family in Vermont, studied dressage throughout Europe, and eventually settled in California. About 15 years ago, she realized that most of the problems riders struggled with stemmed from their horses not using their bodies well. They lacked strength or coordination, they had muscle imbalances, they were stiff, and so on. Meanwhile, horse training had become too specialized and way too complicated. We needed simple, straightforward tools to help horses use their bodies optimally. This prompted her to write her first book in 2005, 101 Dressage Exercises for Horse and Rider, which was endorsed by the United States Dressage Federation as critical for every rider to own. Three other books followed, all of which have been translated into foreign languages and are widely trusted around the world for helping horses regain freedom of movement, enjoyment of exercise, and strong bodies. Today, she works with students and their equine partners across the globe through publications, customized fitness plans, online courses, and in-person clinics.

Elsa Sinclair is a horse trainer from the Pacific Northwest of the United States who brings a unique and powerful perspective to the horse world. From a family of horse trainers, she experimented with many different styles of horsemanship until she stumbled on a question that needed exploration: What if horses were given a choice? Would they let us ride them? Without force or tools to control and without bribes to lure them? The question led to a project, the journey of one wild mustang off the range, Myrnah, a horse with her own mind, strength, and sense of independence. One trainer, no tools, just body language. What started as simple questions, birthed the movie Taming Wild, an online course for those interested in learning Freedom Based TrainingⓇ, and a following of people who seek their own answers in what it takes to work more collaboratively with horses. What does it take to truly work together in freedom?

Evelien Deelen is a doctoral student in cultural anthropology at Washington State University. She researches how cultural factors influence equine health and illness. She asks: “What aspects of equine healthcare are cultural, rather than universal? Do people in the United States have a distinct ‘culture of equine medicine’? How can we understand this better to make veterinary care more effective?”. Evelien also studied the opposing perspectives of rodeo people and advocacy groups towards the involvement of bucking horses in American rodeo, in order to come to a more nuanced understanding of this debate. Originally from the Netherlands, Evelien is committed to developing people-centered approaches and solutions to improve equine welfare, both in the United States and elsewhere.

Horses have been my life since 1998, and over the last couple of decades, I've learned a lot of things. Horses have always been my best teachers, and it stands to reason that a particular horse started my path into barefoot hoofcare. My first horse Prophecy, who's been with me since 1999, came up lame in 2006 at age 18. After the vet came and went a time or three with no improvement, he told me to retire her--and that's just not something to tell a teenager about her first pony. So, off came the shoes and down the booting rabbit hole... and to soundness! Just three months later we were camping in the mountains again. (Now in her thirties, Prophecy is doing fabulously.) After rehabbing most of our other horses over the years, as well as helping friends with their horses, I decided to pursue certification with the Progressive Hoof Care Practitioners and do this whole thing professionally. I have a passion for not just horses, but education, and I mix that in to everything I do. I love sharing my accumulated knowledge (there's twenty-some-odd years of it, please help vent it out!), and I love owners who want to learn. Teaching trimming basics is yet something else I love to share.

A 1999 graduate of Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine, I pursued advanced training in veterinary spinal manipulative therapy (animal chiropractic) and veterinary acupuncture to earn certification in both modalities. I offer a personalized, hands-on approach to animal health. While I am a licensed veterinarian, I offer referral services only. All patients must have a primary veterinarian for routine and emergency veterinary care. Acupuncture and chiropractic can be used to maintain general health and well-being, as well as to address either specific or undiagnosed physical and medical problems. Owners of athletic animals, notably dogs and horses, find that regular treatments or "tune-ups" keep their sporty companions performing at their best, while they prevent common sports-related injuries. Owners of geriatric or chronically ill animals find that these modalities can provide relief where Western treatments alone have fallen short in conditions such as arthritis, weight loss, skin disease, Lyme Disease, respiratory difficulties, and allergies, just to name a few.

Dr. Joyce Harman, a regular on Webinars with Wendy is a holistic veterinarian. She has been using the AirJector-Vet® to treat horses for a variety of conditions. In this webinar, Airjector-Vet representative, Steve Maclin and Dr. Harman will discuss case studies. Medical therapy through the skin is a well-described practice. Transdermal applications of patches containing medicine for treating pain, nausea, heart failure, and dementia are commonplace. All these regimens permit the prolonged transfer of drugs into the body, so there is a continuous amount of the drug in the bloodstream. An alternative option for transdermal therapy is to use gas, instead of a patch. The use of gas has been less common due to the difficulty in transporting the gas and administering it in a controlled fashion. AirJector•Vet solves those issues and allows veterinarians to offer this therapeutic option in an easy to use portable and low-cost format. The AirJector•Vet uses Respidox pharmacopeia grade medical gases to vaporize warm water into a therapeutic mist that is enclosed around the therapy site in a sealed environment of pure gas. This sealed atmosphere maximizes the continuous transfer of gas into the tissue for the full twenty to thirty-minute therapy cycle.

Sharon’s passion for horses was first noticed when she was caught riding a bush horse at 4 years of age. She would climb up the front leg and haul herself up onto the back via the mane proud as a peacock. She still doesn’t know to this day how she survived, but by 14 she was working with racehorses and riding competitively in the show ring and winning up to Open Minor Royal classes by 18. Her desire to understand the biomechanics of the horse led her down the path of dissections and research and if that wasn’t enough, she built horse skeletons where students could move the limbs so to have a better understanding of the leg in motion. This became a critical factor when she rehabilitated or assisted in the selection of horses for performance riders in Australia and overseas. Her keen eye for detail saw her involved with horses that became or were already the Australian Champion in 8 different disciplines, with some competing at WEG and or the Olympics. With Equine degrees and a number of other qualifications in tow, Sharon’s research and published scientific papers have seen her lecture around the World as a key note or guest speaker at numerous events. So with this in mind, Sharon will be speaking on one of the current topics associated with her research - Equine Complex Vertebral Malformation (ECVM), or the Congenital Malformation of the 6th and 7th Cervical Vertebrae.

He has presented his results to numerous international and national audiences over the past ten plus years and believes that a healthy foot translates to a healthy horse. There is a rhythm in the body that is separate from heart rate and respiration. This tide-like motion is called the craniosacral rhythm. The rhythm radiates throughout the body. It helps to move vital nutrients to the tissues and nerves of the body and protect them. It flows through the fascia. It is intricately linked with these beautiful connective tissue. It works within this system to assist the body in maintaining balanced communication. Craniosacral therapists use gentle palpation to find restrictions in the rhythm and by focusing on that area, restore balance. The work affects all systems of the body and how those components are working together. Our goal is to restore ease, fluidity, and communication in the body. When all the parts are working together to support the whole, balance and health are the results. The body has an amazing capacity to heal when allowed to do so. CST can help with so many things. Let's talk about its history, the practical application of the technique, and some case studies from my practice. It's been known to help maintain the body to prevent injuries, speed injury and post-op recovery, reduce and often eliminate head shaking, assist in behavioral and emotional challenges, and more.

Emma Loftus RCST, BCST has been around horses since she was a baby – but first learned to ride when she was six years old. During her teens, Emma wanted to be a jockey, so enrolled in the British Racing School in the UK to gain a pathway into a racing stable. This entry into the racing world led her to work not just in the UK, but in Germany, the USA, New Zealand, and Australia (where she currently resides). Emma began studying Equine Craniosacral therapy in 2011, But it was in 2013, that Emma was introduced to the Biodynamic model, and it was here that her journey with the work shifted. On a visit to the UK and Europe in 2015, Emma enrolled in a weekend introductory workshop with the Craniosacral Educational Trust (CTET) on Craniosacral Biodynamics, the experience left her wanting to learn the modality from the beginning, so she enrolled in the two year training in 2017, and graduated in July last year. ps: Just to add, I may not have made it clear that the sphenoid and occiput are of slightly differing origin to the embryological triads of the spinal vertebrae. Note that; The orbito and basi post sphenoid derived from cephalic mesoderm. But the ali sphenoid and basi pre-sphenoid are derived from Neural Crest cells. Which is fascinating 🤓 and an insight to the intricate formation of the incredible butterfly/bat bone, the sphenoid. I also would like to point out an error I made in discussing the Occiput at birth (I can't count!). I kept saying the bone was in three parts. It is actually in 4 parts; (1) Squamos part (2,3) Condylar (4) Basilar.
