In 1999, Trent and Brent met at a small town Bar. They hit it off immediately and started dating shortly thereafter. Brent, a local farmer, was ridiculed by his conservative Christian family. Trent, a travelling salesman, returned home to the dismay of Brent. Brent, with nowhere to turn, cast away from his farm, his faith, and his lover, turned to the popular ABC television show, "The Bachelorette." If he could prove to his family that he was straight, then they would once again accept him. From a Facebook post, Trent sees a list of upcoming contestants for ABC's The Bachelorette and notices Brent's name. Stricken by his guilt from choosing his career over his love, Trent quits his job and becomes a contestant on ABC's The Bachelorette by stealing the spot of a man named Kent.
